Visited on the first day of their soft opening weekend. They opened at 7:00am. My cousin and I got there just before 11:00am. It was not as busy as I expected, but it's also a holiday weekend. And to my surprise, they were offering 50% off! They have a small parking lot with some additional parking just north of it. I like that it is located in a relatively quiet area of Arcadia. The place is a bit small inside, but there's additional seating on their patio. Inside you order at one of two touchscreen kiosks, or there was a staff member that could take your order on a handheld device. Sushi is not served until 11:00am and you can't order it ahead of time, so we ordered drinks first. MATCHA: Our drinks arrived less than five minutes later. We both tried the Miso Matcha, iced with pistachio milk. The flavor combo is unique and definitely has that umami - a bit nutty & salty from the miso with a touch of sweetness from the miso honey. I wouldn't order this regularly, but it was worth a try and enjoyable. *Note: They offer the matcha drinks in 12 or 16 oz, but the 16 oz is just extra milk. If you want more matcha, they can add an extra serving for an additional $2. SUSHI ROLLS: The line for the kiosks got kind of long by the time they started serving sushi. Once ordered, our food took about 15-20 minutes. I was disappointed that the Red Dragon roll wasn't available, but we loved all three rolls that we got. The sushi rice and fish all tasted fresh. I already want to go back to try other rolls. What we got: -Blanquita -Go-Go Salmon -Yuzu Salmon DESSERT: The Matcha Cheesecake was surprisingly very light in texture. We forgot that Japanese cheesecake is not dense like American cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was not sweet, which was well-balanced with the tartness of the strawberry jam and sweetness of the yuzu cream. I really want to go back to try the Burnt Miso Poundcake too. They have a rewards card as part of their "Matcha Social Club". I'm not sure exactly what you get for free at the end, but I can see us coming back frequently anyway. read more

As a sushi and matcha purist, I love this place! My fiancé prefers the fun rolls, while I like simplicity. Our friends got fun matcha lattes and I stuck with the hand-whisked shot. Stopped in for friends and family and the food was so good we dove in before photos (whoops)! The restaurant has two kiosk ordering stations. Grab a number, head to the condiment station for your choice of plasticware or chopsticks, fill up the sauce pots (they all come with lids for easy transport!), and find a seat. Drinks were out within minutes and food followed shortly thereafter. Usually pre-opening events are still working out service kinks, but not here! Bernie and team are dialed in. I will fully admit I'm not usually a huge sushi person, but a few bites of the poke donburi (tuna bowl) and I actually said, "man, I could eat this for lunch every day!" Exceptional. The yuzu onions are over the top - I'd order a side to go if it was an option. The avocado was plentiful. The rolls - spam isn't my first choice but my partner thought it was great. Interesting textures and a lot of crunch from the veggies. The tuna avocado roll was even better than expected. The real star of the show, though, was the blanquita. Hot damn. Their salsa verde is exceptional and this combination of flavors was out of this world. Easily the best sushi roll I've ever had. Their happy hours has a 2 speciality rolls for 22$ which was a killer deal for how flavorful they were. I'd recommend the Peñasco roll or the Red Dragon. They also have a bangin' blueberry matcha which is more on the matcha side of flavor but has a nice sweet burst from the berry. Been seeing this place on IG lately and finally had a chance to try it out after my doctor's appt nearby. Minnow took over Provision, a coffee shop that used to be here. Parking can be a little difficult when busy. Luckily, it wasn't busy for a Thursday around 2:30. Stopped in just for the matcha only since I already ate earlier. I ordered the Inner Child and a can of Yuzu Kombucha for later. The Inner Child was pretty good! I believe it was banana puree with matcha and a vanilla wafter on top. It wasn't overly sweet. I've tried a good chunk of matcha placed in Phoenix, that is claimed the best but genuinely this is the best that I've had so far here. You can order using the two kiosk or with the cashier. The rolls were fantastic, just a little expensive especially for their size. I also got a blackberry matcha and banana matcha. Both came out very quickly. The banana matcha was delicious, but the blackberry matcha was unbalanced and a little too tart with the flavor of the blackberry being lost. Decided to check out the latest place for sushi and matcha. How cool right?! I love sushi and matcha. Perfect combo. It is located in the old provisions coffee building. Definitely modern, sleek, cool vibes. They just opened last weekend. I can see this place having a cool vibe for cocktails. I heard from one of their baristas saying that's the plan to eventually have a cocktail service at night. It got very full shortly after we went. There is not a ton of indoor seating. The outdoor seating will be wonderful once it cools down here in this brutal summer heat. There was a barista there that super cool, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We sat at the bar area since that was the only place open to eat. You can either order from a screen or order with someone personally. Every time we try a new place we try a little bit of everything. FYI no modifications are allowed right now on the sushi. We tried to take out the cucumber because not a fan of cucumber in our sushi but the staff member checking out people told us we couldn't modify the sushi. Gonna start with what we got first. The matcha ! This what earns the 5 stars! Loved the matcha. I am a fan of naturally flavored and less sweetened matchas (1. It's natural lol 2. Less calories and healthier). I got the iced coconut tonic. I'm such a big fan of tonics and sparkling matchas and espressos right now. Soo refreshing. This was perfect combo of: coconut syrup, tonic water, and matcha. Very light taste of coconut but soooo tasty! I would have this again. My boyfriend had the inner child matcha. It consisted of: banana, matcha and golden wafer. He liked it. He said the description was accurate and tasted great. He recommends it. Now onto the sushi . We did the blanquita, rainbow, go-go salmon, red dragon and 5 piece salmon sashimi. This gets a 4 for me but not enough for me to put the overall review to a 4 star. All rolls were tasty but, they feel more basic for the price, wayyyy to much cucumber, presentation could better (everything is a to go container), too much sauce on some of the rolls, and the fact we can't modify hurts. I felt the salmon sashimi had an interesting after taste and needed the soy sauce to elevate it. However here are the pros in the sushi. I loved the blanquita. It was a perfect synergistic blend of Mexican and Japanese flavors and fun spin to sushi. Very enjoyable roll. Another honorable mention was the go-go salmon. Tasty! This place has lots of potential. Looking forward to trying it again. Matcha is definitely the shiny gold medal winner here. Vibes and customer service was also great. I LOVE minnow !!!!!!! their salted maple hojicha latte is what heaven tastes like && the red dragon roll is to die for. I'm slightly bias and prefer my matcha very sweet so I opt for the hojicha latte instead (as their matcha tends to be on the less sweet side), BUT I love how many fun matcha options there are. This restaurant is a gem! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I had dinner on the patio which was very comfortable and provided me a relaxing atmosphere. I tried several different rolls, the specialty rolls were well designed and definitely had an elevated and more complex composition. I really enjoyed the more basic rolls as well! I tried their double vanilla matcha and it was simply perfect for my taste. Not too sweet or too earthy, a perfect balance. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu as I mentioned it was my first time visiting. They came back to our table to check on us periodically and brought boxes for our leftovers. Considering Minnow has been open for months now, I waited for the perfect time to come try it out. Tonight was my unlucky day I guess -- I went around 6pm ish hoping to get a matcha and sushi (basic order) upon waiting in line, the manager approaches us and lets us know the kitchen is running about 15 minutes behind; chefs called out and they're slammed with online orders. Understandable but my order was basic, I wasn't in a rush and I didn't mind waiting. So I continue looking at the menu. Mind you, he goes to the ladies behind us in line and tells them the same thing (apparently they got the hint because they walked out and went to Chop Shop instead) We ask if they take cash, he lets us know they're cashless. We go to the car, grab my phone for Apple Pay & are going to place our order, he lets us know they're out of that specific sushi when the chef behind the counter had JUST TOLD US he could make it. Lol I didn't feel comfortable to order a basic matcha at that point. More than anything I felt pushed out of the restaurant. I get it, you're flustered, it's busy but this was my first experience at your place (anticipating the perfect time to come try) and unfortunately it's my last. Someone should re-open the customer service guideline book and refresh the protocols on what to when it's busy and understaffed. Or maybe just close the restaurant early? :) read more

Moving from the SF Bay Area, it's difficult to find good sushi or Asian food here in Arizona. My family and I heard about this place from TikTok. We felt the ambiance was nice (family friendly),love the patio (dog friendly), and the self service kiosk. What we didn't like was the matcha (watered down), the sushi (small portions, expensive for what you get, & not authentic, random filling). The menu, sushi, matcha was not a hit. The fact that this place isn't even Asian owned is obvious after trying their food & seeing their menu. If you're looking for authentic, do not come here. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

I got a miso matcha with whole milk, though it was hard to decide amongst all the options. I also got a chili crunch pastry as I tend to go for more savory stuff in the mornings! Loved the lighting inside. Service was great and they gave me a punch card, you get a free matcha after a certain number of visits! The matcha could've been a bit stronger but it did taste good. Had not hat a miso drink before and I liked it! The scone had a good flavor, was not spicy, but it was really dry. I brought it home so I could put some butter or something on it. You order at a kiosk, grab a number, find a seat, and they bring it to you. Well, they bring the food. They called my name at the bar to pick up my drink. When it was time, I ordered the red dragon roll and spam musubi. I also got the matcha cheesecake. After I got the drink well mixed together, it was really good and you could taste the miso flavor. The roll was small for the price but the quality made up for it. It was fresh and flavorful. The spam musubi tasted like it had a ton of vinegar in it so I probably wouldn't order that again. I am really conflicted about this review because I had been looking forward to come since I saw it pop up around the neighborhood and I like supporting local businesses. I will start with the positive: I like the modern style, service was great and I liked my matcha. I got the strawberry white chocolate matcha with half the sweetness - even with this it was pretty sweet so I would keep that in mind when ordering. We shared 2 specialty rolls with my husband - I liked the innovative flavors however I was really thrown off when I was chewing and noticed 2 fish bones in one of my rolls. This has never happened to me at any sushi restaurant and it's a big miss. For that reason I don't think I would come back to get sushi but I would come back for the matcha. There is somewhat limited seating inside but ample seating outside however hard to sit outside during the summertime. The matcha and sushi here are overall great. The fish is good quality and they have some unique combinations. I tried the Saguaro roll, Blanquita roll, and Red Dragon roll. The Saguaro roll was my favorite, which had spicy salmon, nopales, and avocado inside with salmon on top and a little bit of a smoky flavor. For drinks, I tried the ube matcha and red velvet matcha (which is strawberry & white chocolate). The ube matcha was better imo, the sweetness was just right with the added flavor. They also have an option to do half sweet. The sushi did feel a tiny bit overpriced for me considering the portions and especially since it's a more casual over-the-counter type place that serves the food in to-go containers. But the sushi quality is definitely there. The service was very good and the place looks cool inside.
