    Massaman Gai

Was crowded when I arrived but thankfully allowed walked ins. Had me on a text-based waitlist for less than 15 minutes before they found me a seat on the bar. I suspect it would have been much harder if I wasn't alone. The restaurant was decorated simply but tastefully. After choosing my meal, they plopped some utensils and a salad in front of me. In another 15 minutes, I was slurping down some Massaman Gai. The curry was thick, nutty, and delicious. The chicken drumsticks were well cooked (ie fall off the bone) but not flavorful. However, I believe the chicken's quality was more lacking than the chef's skill. Would absolutely come again if they incorporated better ingredients.

Food: 8.5/10 Service: 7/10 Roti Massaman: 9.5/10 -- The fried roti was incredibly soft and flaky. Every bite was decadent, and I couldn't stop eating it. Short Rib Prik Kang: 9/10 -- The beef was fall-apart tender and came off the bone effortlessly. Add a spoonful of rice--bomb. I was in paradise. Goong Muk Prik Klua: 7/10 -- This dish was a mix of fried shrimp and squid. Both were plump and well-cooked, but overall, the dish wasn't particularly impressive. We really enjoyed our meal. The food was impeccable, and you can't go wrong with most of the dishes. The service was fine, although the restaurant was a little too loud. Expect to pay around $55-$60 per person after tax and tip.

Celebrated my birthday here and no regrets! Mitr Thai absolutely lived up to the hype! The restaurant has a beautiful, modern atmosphere that's perfect for dinner with friends and family or even just because you want to eat. The service was friendly, attentive, and the food arrived quickly even they were a full house and rush lunch hour. Very quick and our server was amazing! We started with mango salad and chicken satay as these were the most popular. Their salad was purely mango with cashews and cherry tomatoes. Their chicken satay was also to die for! It was very flavorful and was perfect and went well with the salad. Their pad thai was so perfect it brought me back to when we visited Thailand few years ago. The crispy pork belly was a standout for me perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with just the right amount of richness. (Reminds me of Filipino Lechon Kawali) The fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and squeeze of lime balanced everything out beautifully. The soft shell crab in creamy curry egg sauce was also a must try! And lastly, we tried their mango sticky rice!! Absolutely no words... IT WAS DIVINE!!! If you're looking for authentic Thai food with elevated presentation, generous portions, and excellent service, Mitr Thai is definitely worth the visit. I'll absolutely be coming back to try more dishes!

Came here to eat before watching Broadway. We booked 5:00pm. When we arrived ~4:50pm there was already a line out the door waiting for them to open. I'm surprised people queued and surprised they actually lock people out. They have a policy of only seating whole parties. My friends were literally stuck amongst the world cup crowds in Times Square such that they struggled to get through and had to detour when they did. They have a 10 minute grace period, but my friends wouldn't make it in time, so I asked if they'll let us sit first as long as we start ordering immediately. They said ok as long as we returned the table by 6:30pm. I thought the 1.5 hour seating time was based on when we actually get seated which considers the grace period. Anyways the timing ended up being sufficient. I think this spot is good for pre-theatre dining due to the large storefront and quick service, but I wouldn't necessarily choose to come here for the sake of coming. Their menu is extensive and slightly confusing given the way they organize by regions in Thailand. I'm uncultured so I won't know what's the difference between each region. It's easier for me to comprehend if the menu was categorized by the ingredients used or size of the dish. Most dishes do not have a photo/drawing included so it was hard to skim through all the options. Their online ordering was way more helpful since it had photos. It was so hard to look for the corresponding line item in the printed version. We ordered: green curry, kao soy kua neur, khao mok neua, curry puff, kaeng hung lay, gai gor lae, and mango sticky rice. Most of the stuff tasted alright without much standout. We requested mild/little spicy for everything and it was true to request. The spiciest dish was probably the green curry, but I think it's tolerable if you eat it with rice. Crowd favorite was the kao soy kua neur which is braised beef with egg noodles. I like how tender the beef is and how chewy the noodles were. My friends didn't like the khao mok neua biryani because of its dryness, but I think it's meant to be like that. I appreciate the spices in it, not too strong but still sufficient. I don't like how they don't have a printed menu for desserts and relied on the servers to recite out what's available. We couldn't hear everything properly and resorted to referencing the online ordering menu for the dessert options. Glad they're the same. Mango sticky rice was the highlight of the night for me. The mango size could be slightly bigger, because right now it's much smaller than the rice. However, I enjoyed the rice a lot. It was hot, fragrant, and not too soft. It definitely felt comforting. The coconut milk on the side had rice puffs (?) in it which gave additional texture.

I found Mitr Thai via Yelp ages ago, and had it on my list to try for quite some time. Conveniently, I was looking for a pre-theater lunch, and the stars finally aligned. I'll note that I was previously warned about large portion sizes and was spending the day with spice-sensitive individuals (why Thai food, you might ask? Well, they both love it!), so this limited my ordering options a bit, since we wanted to eat family style and share. All of that being said, lunch was a great success. We arrived early for our reservation, prior to open, and were seated promptly as soon as the doors were ready to open. The space is beautiful, the staff were ready to start service. The tables are a bit close together, so don't plan on having private conversations. Our waitress explained the menu and made some suggestions. Yes, this is expensive for Thai food, but not at all surprising given the location. I tried a cocktail and it was lovely. The food came out quickly (very efficient service), was hot and fresh. The soft-shell crab special was not our favorite, a bit over-fried and the sauce was just ok for my taste. The curry puff was great, as were the noodles and the rice. I would definitely want to try some other dishes next time, the hot pot at the table next to us looked and smelled fabulous. This is a 4.5 stars spot, and a great option in midtown.

So this was an unexpected treat! Hubby & I had theatre tickets nearby so decided to get a bite to eat here before show. I wasn't expecting this level of authentic Thai food! Place was very busy when we got there but we were lucky to snag a table without having made reservations. The waitress, Emmy was super cheery and helpful. Reminds me to review her service. We got the papaya salad appetizer and for entrees hubby ordered the duck while I ordered one of the specials she recommended the shrimp and squid coconut. This was both our favorites. The flavor was fresh and lots of fresh herbs and micro greens. The sticky rice was a nice treat. Hubby got a drink. It was interesting taste of alcohol with cucumber. They had an upstairs and pretty nice decor.

After a disappointing lunch at another Thai restaurant the other day, I was in this area and saw that I had Mitr Thai bookmarked and wanted to finally try. Walked in around 1:30pm and it was very busy but I was able to grab a table. They have a solid lunch special and as basic as it is, I love a good Pad Thai and ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. The sauce, spiciness level (asked for medium spicy and it was actually medium spicy) and noodles were all delicious and I was surprised at how juicy the chicken was. I've been to some places where the chicken can be quite dry but the chicken here was actually cooked well and would recommend. The one particular thing to note at this restaurant was that the noise level was exceptionally loud for a Thai restaurant (during lunch). They were blasting music so keep that in mind if you're looking for a more relaxed, quieter environment.

    Stephen L.

Really great Thai restaurant in midtown offering authentic dishes from all 4 regions of Thailand. I ordered the Ped Pa Loh ($34), which was a braised deboned half duck. The duck was cooked very well and the meat was nice and tender. I appreciated that it was deboned, which made it easier to eat. It also came with a sauce that added a bit of sweetness, although that sauce flavor got muted by the other sauce underneath. The restaurant interior is not particularly large and can get a bit crowded, but it is decorated nicely with a lively atmosphere. The staff are extremely attentive and the service speed is very fast. Overall, Mitr Thai offers above average quality authentic Thai food with more variety than most Thai restaurants, but as a result, the prices are also a bit higher than usual. I had a great experience and would give 4.5 stars if I could - definitely recommend it if you are a fan of Thai food.

This Thai spot in Midtown was so busy when I came on a Wednesday evening. I highly encourage recommendations as you might be faced with a long wait otherwise. They have two floors of seating (so spacious) and service is pretty quick. I got their papaya salad, roti massaman, pad see ew, ped pa loh (duck), and green curry. The papaya salad really stood out to me, but I enjoyed all of their dishes. What I liked about this spot is that they split their menu up between regions of Thailand so you get to know which dishes are from where (pretty cool!). Although the food was good, I feel like there are so many Thai spots in NYC that are better and that this spot was lacking a "wow" factor for me.

Mitr Thai has a beautiful interior with a stylish touch of Thai culture. The food was delicious, and the cocktails were just as impressive as they were beautiful. It was surprisingly packed for a weekday evening, which says a lot about its popularity. Overall, we had a great dining experience and would definitely come back.

*this is a 4.5 star review* This place felt like a diamond in the rough on 46th street. I popped in on a rainy day and it was just what I needed. It is so beautiful inside-great artwork hanging from the ceiling and everything about it screams class and culture. The staff were so kind and attentive. In the short time I was there I received multiple water refills. I ordered the Pad-Se-Ew lunch special for $19 which is a great deal, because you get a passion fruit salad as well and the passion fruit dressing is tangy and delicious. Truly my only complaint is that the salad felt so minimal. It was so good and I would've loved if there was a bit more.

I'd heard a lot about Mitr Thai and finally got around to trying it. It lived up to the hype and honestly even better than I expected. Gai Gor Lae (chicken satay): really juicy and well marinaded. Delicious! Roti Massaman: the roti comes in small triangles, easy to dip in curry. The massaman is rich, sweet, and very comforting. Khao Pad Nam Prik Kak Moo: crispy pork belly fried rice served with egg and pork rind. This is a must order! Super crunchy, packed with flavor, and just really satisfying. Crab fried rice: you can't go wrong here. Solid and well executed. Black sticky rice with coconut ice cream: surprisingly really good. The contrast in textures and flavors works so well. The cocktails were pretty good too! I highly recommend the panda with the "N". Pandan flavored, light and refreshing! They have a pretty extensive menu with dishes from different regions, which I liked. I'd definitely come back to try more. Highly recommend!

Location: 37 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036 Ambiance: big space although expect tightly packed seating. Customer service: very accommodating, will walk you through the menu especially if you're a first time diner. Food: Overall. Had a very great experience with them. OMG this is the place to be for thai tea. My go to for Thai tea. The main dish we've tried and the dessert below. Pineapple rice with shrimp---i looooove the freshness and the umami essence of all the ingredients mix together with rice. Mango sticky rice with all the garnishing. THE BEST!! I'm definitely coming back with some friends!

They had a very respectable pad see ew beef - sweet and savory, good amount of egg, a little stronger bitter broccoli but otherwise a good dish, good quantity to fill you up even though in the bowl it seemed smaller than it actually was with the rice noodle cooked well. The steamed sea bass with garlic and lime (Pla Neueng Manow) had beautifully cooked sea bass with a very nice spicy/sour/savory green garlic sauce which I'll have to try again. The fried version is supposedly very good, too, and the one person that always gets the basil fried rice had a wonderful aroma that we'll have to try again later. Mango sticky rice was a tasty dessert (although we probably didn't need the 3 orders they recommended for our table of 6), though usually like I like the purple rice version better, and came with a very cute shovel spoon. They gave a free birthday dessert of caramel delight which was ok, crumbly and sweet (I'm not a caramel fan but others liked it). Overall, good experience and solid food - while not the best Thai I've ever had, this certainly is a keeper for the Midtown East area. Will come again soon to try the lunch specials! Service was a little slow due to how busy they were, but do appreciate the birthday candle for the birthday friend!

Definitely deserving to be on the Michelin recommended list and I look forward to coming back.
