Had a salad delivered from Mixt and, while it was delicious, it certainly wasn't worth the high price! It was the BACHELOR with "mixt greens, arugula, grilled flat iron steak, blue cheese, herb roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, savory herbs, balsamic vinaigrette, topped with caramelized onions and breadcrumbs" and it was $16.95. There was literally *one* cherry tomato cut in half, about 1/8 cup of potatoes, about one and a half tablespoons of blue cheese all clumped together, 6 to 8 very small pieces of steak, about one tablespoon of caramelized onions at the bottom of the box, and about 3 loose cups of mixed greens. The balsamic dressing was delicious, as was the whole salad, but it just didn't seem worth the price. I don't think I would order from them again. read more

And this is why. I am from out of town. I am at the parade. I heard how good this place was. I love how big and juicy the elote salad is. But it's petty and morally wrong to close down the bathroom to their paying patrons. They have closed it because of the parade. They don't want Random's using it. This salad was $18. I would pay another $18 to just use the bathroom. I am disappointed in management that makes these calls. I am in management too and this is horse sh!t! Ah, Mixt. It used to be Mixt Greens but now it's just the one word. Like Cher. When I was working in the FiDi, I used to be a frequent customer first at the Sansome and Commercial location near Chinatown (review: http://bit.ly/2lWiS45) and then the one on Mission at the JP Morgan building (review: http://bit.ly/2EZinyW). It wasn't that I was a devoted fan as I found their salads on the pricey side, but my colleagues would queue up at lunch and being the lemming that I was, I joined them. Nowadays, Mixt is not a lunchtime option for me due to geographic realities, but Jamie W. and I thought this would be a good lunchtime option on a Saturday. It had been months since I had been to a Mixt, so it was with some relief that I was able to peruse the menu like a newspaper and deal with a minimal wait for my order. Jamie and I are still watching our nutritional intake, so there was an added dietary resonance in our decision to come here. Jamie was especially good and ordered the $10.95 Be Well vegan salad which appropriately contained mixt greens along with avocado, chickpeas, quinoa, lentils, carrot, edamame, cucumber, scallions, and fresh herbs, all of it drizzled liberally with a cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/2CGssT1). I'm trying to give up meat. When I order a MIXT salad I honestly don't miss the meat at all. The two I love are ELOTE and NAMASTE. I think the ELOTE might be seasonal but when it was available I got it twice a week. I just asked for tofu instead of the chicken. I was hoping to have a better experience, and I might have had one had I gone in earlier than 15 minutes before close, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt .. FOOD : I did a build your own salad with spinach, egg, grilled broccoli, roasted butternut squash, chicken and cherry tomatoes with a balsamic dressing. It wasn't anything overwhelmingly good, it didn't change my life significantly, but it wasn't terrible either. The chicken was surprisingly good, it was a little pink in the inside but it was warm and didn't feel chewy or fake which was a huuuge plus. The butternut squash was kind of hard, and the broccoli was a little mushy and just not the greatest. Could have been better, I was hoping to try the salmon but they were out of it. SERVICE : again... the benefit of the doubt.. but the service was not great. I'm sure they were just exhausted and it was the end of the day, but the guy didn't speak much English so it was hard for him to understand, and they were a little on the short / unkind side. I'm sure that wasn't the intention, and I might just be a sensitive Midwest girl, but I wasn't super happy with how the service was. Mixt has these market plates -- you pick a protein, a sauce, and two veggies/grains. I love that they have wine and kombucha on tap. The market plates are delicious! My friend and I each had the steak, my husband the salmon, and another friend had the chicken. All the proteins were cooked well. I just loved the grilled asparagus! It was served with an aioli and topped with bread crumbs. The grilled broccoli was tender yet still kind of firm and had the perfect char marks. And, you really can't go wrong with mashed sweet potatoes. For dessert, grab a rice crispy treat, chocolate chip cookie, or carmelita. read more

I didn't have much of the dressing as the other ingredients added the flavor I wanted to the greens. Though I didn't think the ranch had much sriracha flavor. It was nice and creamy though. I visit this MIXT a few times a week for lunch! You get your meal quickly since they put it together right in front of you (no waiting 15min for the kitchen to work through its queue). There are plentiful healthy salad options - this isn't the pathetic cheese/cheese/chicken/more cheese options many restaurants offer. (And if you're into that sort of thing, MIXT has multiple cheese &chicken options for you, good day). The add-ones are wide ranging, colorful, and tasty. Whereas with most places, I settle on a single dish that fits me best, I find I vary what I order at MIXT. TIP- to-go orders comes in compostable containers. The white wine on tap is mildly fruity, light but not too light. It has some substance. It was perfectly refreshing and a crisp pairing that went well with the apple in the salad. The place has an open feel to it. Large windows, bright white walls, high ceilings and blonde wood furnishings work well together. It's a contemporary aesthetic. The line was fast and efficient. The salad well chopped. The tables were kept pretty clean and again the serving size was massive. I'd love if this opened in my neighborhood. The salads here are excellent! You can choose one of the pre-made salads, customize one of those pre-made salads, or make yours from scratch. The ingredients all tasted fresh and the dressing was excellent. I ended up getting the Forbidden Bowl, with a few substitution such as getting farro and adding potatoes. It tasted refreshing and was actually quite a big portion, as I wasn't able to finish all of it in one sitting. It also comes with a small piece of bread. All the Mixt locations, including this one, looks bright, roomy and clean. You can order online and pick up, making the transaction easy and clean. I think their salad offering is decent, and there's a good variety. The salads have a decent amount of ingredients, and they can be quite filling! The carrot ginger turmeric drink was so cloyingly sweet I couldn't drink it. The flat iron steak was gray. The tuna was meh, if you're looking for a rate tuna with something other than cardboard texture, this is not it. The greens were fresh. The staff was nice. This Mixt is different from every other one in FIDI. Feels like a restaurant. Open spaces with lots of tables and chairs. Clean and bright and its inside Yerba Buena Ln. I'm not a big salad person but still love to eat healthy. Therefore this Mixt location is perfect for me, introducing the MARKET PLATE. I really, really want to like this place. After coming several times, though, I have to say my feelings are, well, mixt. The concept is great but the execution falls short. One of the most frustrating things is the inconsistency of the experience. It's as if the company takes their name to heart a little too much. The staff often don't know the ingredients or allergens: for months I was told the falafel was not gluten free, and thus always subbed it out. But recently the staff changed their tune and indicated it has always been GF, which seems to be the case as my girlfriend has not gotten sick from eating it. I understand not wanting to label something as truly gluten free due to the risk of cross contamination, but at least say something like "no gluten-containing ingredients" so it's more clear. The other negative is the protein options. The portions are tiny, and when you factor in the cost of adding protein to a salad or getting it a la carte, are a terrible value. $9 to add steelhead, and $7 for chicken? That's insane. The flavor is usually good, but almost always comes cold as it seems like it's been sitting out on the counter for a while. The takeout/delivery experience for proteins is usually even worse - whatever sauce I request usually comes only half full. I probably won't be coming back to Mixt, which is a shame because it's healthy, quick, and has a good rewards program, but too many sub-par experiences add up and at some point you have to take a stand. read more

The line can get pretty long during peak hours but the line moves pretty quickly but you can also order online to skip the line. I always get the orchard salad and you're allowed 1 substitution so I always opt to switch out the almonds for cucumbers. The orchard has a perfect balance of meat to greens ratio so that I don't feel like I'm eating only greens throughout the meal. Also, unlike Chipotle, you won't find any burnt pieces of chicken so you don't need to worry about that lol Also, if you check-in on yelp you can get a free housemade lemonade so don't forget to check-in! read more

Most of the time, it can be two or three meals portion (for someone like myself). My personal favorite is Orchard. It's like Cobb but instead of blue cheese, it has cheddar. I'm giving mixt three stars, combination of their salad (solid 4 stars) and their warm plate (solid 0 stars). Come here for their salads. Like any other salad places here, you can also customize any of the ones they have on the menu, giving you a fantastic selection. The salads also come out massively big as well. However, just remember you'll be paying a pretty penny for the customized salads (I think the most I paid once was $19). I just ordered the steak warm bowl with a side of broccoli and sweet potato and only ate about 35% of the bowl. 30% of the bowl that I ate: I finished the steak, of course. Bland steak that didn't have anything special about it... although not really expecting much out of steak from here. The broccoli was still a tad raw in the middle and the seasoning that they put on it (like the chili flakes?) did not pair well together at all. I ordered the mashed sweet potato because that ALWAYS tastes good... right? They gave a generous amount but, alas, it was so bad. The sweet potato was insanely salty - I'm not sure if they just smothered it in vinegar or it was a bad potato. Couldn't eat more than 3 bites before deciding I had had enough. The service here is pretty good, and the staff are friendly. Obviously since the location is next to the mall, expect long lines and a pretty long wait. Eh. I was hoping for a fresh meal with veggies prior to coming here. But now I wish I would've just saved a couple bucks and ate at chipotle or some place at the mall in the food court a block away. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I got a steak plate with chimichurri sauce. The steak was tough and very chewy. The Brussels sprouts were over cooked and dry not juicy and warm as I was hoping. The broccoli seemed over cooked and burnt as well, not a nice crispy I don't know my jaw was sore after getting 1/3 of the way through my food. I had higher expectations. I wish they had a guaranteed fresh or your money back sign. And for the price I know SF can be a little pricey but was just hoping for more. read more

"All in the mix near Yerba Buena gardens" First off, I'm a salad guy. Not because I want to be, but because my scale tells me I need to be. So I'm a bit partial to these kinds of create-your-own-salad-but-still-get-meat kind of places (Mixt, Sweetgreen, Pluto's, etc). This place...is a bit better than the rest though. Consider it like Pikachu or Fox in smash (That's Tier 1 for those who don't know!). The ingredients just seem fresher. The portion size is actually satisfying. And they're also just a stand up company (according to their wallpaper they do good stuff for their employees). There's a decent selection of options, but I tend to just get the premade ones. And my criteria for premade salads is usually steak. So that ends up being the Bachelor (not just a good TV show my friends!). Other than that, there isn't much to say. What you see is what you get. And what you see is fresh. Also, shout out to them for always asking how much dressing I want and then actually adjusting what they do. First time visiting Mixt (been to sweetgreen a few times and thought I'd give Mixt a try). Heard that the Peachy salad was good (and it's seasonal!) so I ordered that as-is with light dressing. The salad was OK. On paper, I was excited about the peaches, goat cheese, grilled corn, and toasted almonds, but in reality, there was something off that made it just OK and not great - not sure if it was the herbs or the cider vinaigrette (or the fact that I asked for light dressing). If you're around Market and looking for a quick salad, Mixt may be your place. The line was out the door when we arrived, but we went through the line in a short amount of time, and there were seats available both inside and outside. I created my own salad as my long time fave (ahi tuna/mango) was no longer on the menu. I opted for a healthy mix of butter lettuce, pickled onions, kalamata olives, mango, avocado and pumpkin seeds. ($10.45 for up to 5 toppings) I should've said light dressing, because the green goddess dressing was a little bit on the heavy side and completely soaked my delicate butter lettuce. Sad face! I loved their Arnold Palmer which was just the right mix of sour and sweet. The central location at Yerba Buena attracts a lot of office folks and tech dudes, as well as police officers. The only time during all of 2020 when I ordered a salad - but a friend wanted to try MIXT and we had just gotten a boba, so I figured something lighter would hit the spot. I had the Elote salad (a summer seasonal salad) - which is similar to "southwest" salads at other places. Lettuce, corn, grilled chicken, jicama, pepitas, with a lime crema. I wasn't expecting to be super blown away (since I generally find salads a poor value prop when you can make your own much cheaper), but I thought it was delicious. The portions were generous, and it was very well balanced. I still remember the pepitas adding such a nice crunch. I also felt that the price was pretty fair for what I got (I don't remember exactly, but I recall around $14). The nice thing about this MIXT location is that it's in a little courtyard area where there's seating, which is quite important during COVID. It's also right next to Yerba Buena Gardens so you can eat in the park. A nice touch I noted is they had tables out (at least in summer 2020) with markers where you could indicate whether the table had been used or not to signal to the staff when to clean. I haven't seen that level of attention to detail in other restaurants. read more

The amount of dressing can vary, so you may want it on the side or as a drizzle. It was a good portioned salad, plus you receive a little slice of bread upon paying.
