This is a small Japanese sushi place, it's in a strip mall with about six other business there as well, with a small parking lot. I actually was recommend to try this place out from my son. You can order on the outside or from the inside, there is one school bench on the outside , there is one TV don't know about the restroom, they also daily special Monday- Saturday close on Sunday. The food was tasty and fresh ( the shrimp ) should have more, the one dish that really stood out for me and was absolutely delicious was the Mayako Udon this was so flavorful...the broth i could drink like a cup of tea. I also noticed that all of the cook/chef were not Japanese but Hispanic which i may say did and is doing a pretty good job, I will return to try other Items. read more

I enjoy the food from Miyako Express. Their meals taste quite decent (aside from the fact that the owner/staff are nowhere close to being Japanese ). Their specials on the day are available every day (except on Sundays when they are closed) and are solid deals with good price and taste. It takes a while to get your meal as i believe they make them as the orders come in. They also have a free small parking spot inside a strip mall area as well. You can order from a take out window on the side of the restaurant or just eat in. P.S. I didn't see they have any restrooms for customers. P.S.S. If you are walking to eat here though, be aware of your surroundings and shady characters around the area. It's not the safest area to walk around esp at night (unfortunately, as a small framed, short Asian female, I almost got assaulted by a homeless guy, who was presumably high from drugs, walking alone very close by the area before...so I'd never consider walking there after the sunsets again). read more

This unassuming sushi joint got me impressed. I actually came because of the Yelp reviews and was a little worried that they got a B food rating. I was hesitant on ordering sushi but they had a really good three sushi type deal for only $9.99. There were a couple people dining there for lunch as their teriyaki and cooked entrees looked huge. The food is cooked to order. One of my sushi orders had shrimp tempura and it was hot! I ate my entire sushi and I think the value was worth it. The shop looks a little dingy, but I'd say that the presentation was great. I would come back here again for lunch. read more

A no frills sushi takeout place. Fish is really fresh and portions are generous for the size. They are probably able to provide generous fresh fish portion size due to the location. Location is in a business area, and building would benefit from a remodel. I recommend their Philadelphia, California, and Salmon/Avocado roll. I was surprised about the quality of their California roll. Price was really affordable, and one of the best I had. I been to place where California rolls were twice the price, but fail to meet my expectations. I'm a tourist, but if I lived here, I would probably do takeout once a week here. read more

Absolutely love this place. Atmosphere is very casual and relaxed. The staff are super sweet, a liiittle on the slower side but the team is very small. They do accept call in orders, which is becoming rare. Food is reasonably priced with a food specials for different days. Hands down the best california rolls Ive ever had. Not mad AT ALL at this place. You go up to the little window and order, your food takes at least 7 minutes as it's fresh and they have a LOYAL cult following. Enough said. Was told by a regular to try their specials. Everyday they have a special and from what I seen Friday shall me my favorite day to come here. I got the churchy roll and it was HUGE pieces and super delicious. Parking is ok, their located in the GS sportslounge lot which by the way shout out to them because we originally came there to get some of their delicious eggrolls but our course they were closed. This is a small, unassuming place that has come up in some of my Yelp searches. The vegetable tempura came with a nice variety of vegetables. However, the batter wasn't seasoned and the tempura sauce was watered down, didn't add any flavor, and not enough was given. The teriyaki beef and BBQ short ribs were basically good, but you do need to add extra teriyaki sauce. The rainbow roll and green dragon roll were also good. I tried to call in my order to avoid waiting, but apparently they don't take phone orders or at least they didn't answer. I don't understand why they would give you teriyaki sauce for the tempura instead of tempura sauce and why the heck would you put it in top of the tempura for a to go order? Miyako is one of my go-to's when I visit my family in Westchester. Reliable, cheap, clean, tastes good, never had any issues. I posted pictures of the menu to make it easier. I can't really recommend anything off the top of my head, but anything I've had, I've enjoyed, including the eel bowl and the California roll with salmon on top. Definitely have picked off food from my family's plates too :) If you are looking for a nice sit down highest quality sushi place this isn't it. You'd probably pass by without giving it a second thought, but Miyako Express is the way to go if you're in the mood for good sushi but don't want to spend a lot of money (and still get filled up). Super reasonable prices, lots of specials and deals; I'd recommend checking out their Mon-Sat specials, which give you large portion meals for as little as $7. My personal favorite is the Friday special which includes kalbi short rib, bulgogi, rice + salad and a California roll for just $14.50. The sushi is fresh and decent quality. They also offer miso soup and a variety of appetizers, though this is definitely more of a take-out place rather than a sit-down-and-eat-there place. I would recommend getting your order to-go as the inside of the restaurant looks like it's in desperate need of a deep cleaning. There's also no bathroom for guests and the ladies who work the register don't always have the nicest attitudes and have a tendency to just weirdly stare at you while you're there). As others have already pointed out in their reviews, the owner and employees here are not Japanese at all, they are Hispanic, but they still know how to make some delicious, affordable Japanese lunch. The food here continues its downward spiral. It's a shame, from about 2002 through 2018, I used to come here regularly. The food quality was good, specially for the price, ad it had a special charm since the outside was kind of a dump. They've spruced up the outside and inside. The prices are about the same. But, I stopped in last week ad the unagi was inedible. It was a small rubbery piece of gristle. The salmon was so thin you could see through it. No, I am NOT exaggerating, I held it up to the light and I could see through it. The rolls and had tiny skivers of meat and hard rice!!! I'm going to be honest. I come here often for teriyaki when I don't want the commercial taste of flame broiler or waba grill. They cook the chicken well on the grill and some places over cook it and gives too much of a burnt taste. Not here, they do an excellent job on both chicken and beef teriyaki plates. Nice portions, place looks a little run down and inside can get humid and some flys might be flying around so it's not my favorite place to wait for food so I order take out ahead and hope the back has a much more sanitary situation. Miyako is such a hidden gem! They have great Japanese food at reasonable prices, but it's so easy to miss because of the location. It's on the corner of Manchester and Portal. They are not open on Sundays, but they have an incredible daily special every other day of the week. The combos are also a fave menu item for me. They consist of anything from teriyaki to potstickers to sushi. The prices are very reasonable. Also, I'm a fan of their udon noodle soup. There is a small parking lot, but certain spaces are designated for certain companies. Miyako doesn't have designated parking spots, so sometimes parking can be a chore. The staff has always been friendly, and they generally get my order right. The menu is in pictures on the outside of the building if you want to use the walk up window. read more

Chemicals Sprayed!!!! Was one of my favorite restaurants until tonight. After the chemicals were sprayed for cleaning at 8:45 PM the whole place smelled obviously like cleaning fluid and thus got over all food being prepared. Mistakes happen, but after I got my money back and all 3 other families after me got their money back, the remaining 3 orders were packed up and sent out for delivery since I saw them leave as I was leaving... Management needs to take control and if you order from here realize they aren't taking your health into consideration. Great place, just bad decisions to say the least..... Solid! I had a quick sushi lunch before dropping my rental car off at LAX. Got a big tempura roll and some mixed nigiri for ~$25 all-in.
