One of the best burgers I've ever had. I'm picky and only eat high quality local beef. This blue cheese bacon burger was big enough to split with my hubby and they allow you to sub out healthy side salads (three choices) for fries if you want -- so we got the broccoli chopped slaw -- also delicious. To start, I used to hate Founding Farmer's. It was a one-sided beef that stemmed from feeling gaslit by everyone raving about a restaurant that I found to be mid at best. I tried today after many years (if the Washington Post can change their mind, so can I!) Some dishes were excellent but most were just good. A friend and I shared the following: biscuits, beignets, crab Benedict, and chicken and waffles, with sides of bacon and hash browns. The biscuits and beignets were both delicious, but all of the entrees were merely fine. The fried chicken was especially disappointing (not very flavorful and barely fried) . I visited in Mother's Day which is prime time for any restaurant so I'll give them a little grace. When we arrived we checked in at the desk and then waited about 15 mins. after our reservation time. I went to check again and a nice lady said I wasn't checked in the computer. We were the directed to a nice booth for two. Our waiter was a young guy who used the term "friend" a lot and seemed like a friendly cool person. I asked what the popular non-alcoholic drink was and orders the apple ginger fizz and blackened catfish with grits. Our app was the deviled eggs which I only tasted eggs and chives. Needs a kick of hot sauce and some salt. I also ordered the farmers salad which Id never had before but was pleasantly surprised with (took half of it home). The size of the catfish seemed a little small but it does shrink from the frying and the grits were just done enough. I didn't really care for the ginger drink since the ginger taste was too much. My mom had the crab cakes with fries and coleslaw and no other beverage besides water. Plenty of crab in her cakes and she said they were good but I didn't sample. I visited this place to do some computer work this morning. It's a really nice location and has a cool vibe. I ordered the plain pancakes and sausage with coffee. Ben was the bartender who offered great service, kept my coffee full and followed up often. I don't use syrup so I'm hard on pancakes as they must taste good with a little butter They came piping hot, were light and fluffy. And had a really good taste. This is my most visited restaurant in the DMV. I noticed they updated their menu and sometimes that scares me as a vegetarian cuz there might not be options for me, but luckily I found their Falafel Burger. I also had some of their Brie Apple Bread appetizer, which is always good. The falafel burger seemed like a new dish taking the place of the veggie burger they used to have (which was one of my favorite dishes every time I would go). I enjoyed it! Most places I go, their falafel is on the dry side, but this one wasn't so dry. I think it could have used more sauce or something similar to hummus/tahini, but otherwise it tasted great! Third time is a charm...my friend and I had been trying to have brunch at Founding Farmers twice before this, and could not get in, but this time I made a reservation. So, success, now I know to make a reservation for brunch. : ) Jacob was our server and he was Awesome! He made the difference between this review being a 4 or 5 star review. He made sure that we had everything we needed. And, when one item was bad, he replaced it with ease. He also didn't rush us, he gave us plenty of time to eat and catch up. So, kudos to Jacob for excellent service. I ordered 2 sunny side eggs, bacon, pancakes, and a brûléed grapefruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked and were well seasoned with salt and pepper. The bacon was good. I usually like my bacon a little more well done, but it was fine. The pancakes were exceptional. They were light, fluffy, and were full of delicious flavor. The brûléed grapefruit was the issue. It was hard as a rock, even the knife would cut the segments. But, Jacob came to the rescue and replaced it with a tasty biscuit. The biscuit was delicious and came with butter and jam. I had black tea to drink and I loved the beautiful china cup it was served in. It is very loud and crowded, so be aware. The food and service were good. The ambiance was a little dark. Bathrooms looked a little old. I hade the fried chicken and crab cakes. I didn't care for the crab cake. They said it was New Orleans style. Excuse me but this is MD where crab cakes actually have crab in it, this crab cake was a mushy mess. The cold slaw and corn salad were excellent. The biscuit was very dense and dry. I was a little let down by the food. I had high hopes for this place. I have been to two other Farmhouse Restaurants but this one was far worse than the other two. This was a first time at this restaurant, my nephew recommended it for us to catch up before he heads back to college. He is friends with the owners son and highly recommended it. I arrived early and our waiter was Isaiah. I told him I was early and he immediately got me started on beverages. While waiting I looked over menu and asked him for help on some items and he was very helpful answering my numerous questions and offering suggestions. Once my nephew arrived, Isaiah was there to get his order and put an appetizer order in. He continued to check on us through out our meal. The salad recommendation was excellent! I recently visited MoCo Founding Farmers, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The ribeye was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, and the seasonal vegetables were some of my absolute favorites, fresh, vibrant, and well-prepared. The spinach dip had a richer, more luxurious flavor than others I've tried, and it set a great tone for the meal. For drinks, the mocha lattes were absolutely delicious, creamy, balanced, and topped with what tasted just like homemade whipped cream. The chocolate flakes on top were a perfect finishing touch. My waffles were good, though I wasn't a big fan of the syrup, but the fried steak was crispy and flavorful. The sushi wontons were a fun and creative appetizer, though I don't think I'd order them again. The texture reminded me more of a fishy guacamole, which was different from how I remember them before. I might have preferred the glazed fish served on top instead. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our server was kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. My wife and I decided to return to MoCo's Founding Farmers for breakfast after a wonderful breakfast the week before. Early-morning parking is always great, even a charging station for your EV. "Tyler" greeted us, sat us and was our outstanding server. He was very attentive, timely with hot coffee, the waters and hot delicious dishes! This time my wife got her own plate of MoCo's best pancakes..delicious, melt-in-your mouth, buttered with warm syrup. I got the egg scramble that was wholesomely scrumptious. The Cheesy Grits and biscuits, again, rocked. Tyler gave us the classy royal treatment.. very attentive. The restaurant is always nice and warm even with the AC blowing comfortably. Wow, it's been ten years since my last review of Founding Farmers. Been here many times for their breakfast which is very solid. I really like their coffee and can't go wrong with the Founding Farmers Breakfast, pancakes and their pan scrambles. The portion sizes are pretty big for breakfast. It does get quite crowded for breakfast, so make a reservation. For lunch/dinner, I like their Garlic Black Pepper Wings for appetizer/happy hour, Southern Fried chicken, Yankee Pot Roast and the fried chicken salad. Their steaks though need improvement. It's very inconsistent, one night it's very good and then another night the quality of the steak is really poor. One of the biggest strengths of Founding Farmers is actually their cocktails. The Founding Spirits Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned is my favorite cocktail here. Check out their happy hour menu as they have this cocktail and others for $7.99 and beers for $6. They built out their patio dining so it's more enclosed. It's nice to dine al fresco when the weather is nice out. read more

We went to Founding Farmers for a family brunch last weekend. It was perfect! We had a large round booth upstairs for the seven of us - well, six and a high-chair. The omelettes were delicious, the fried chicken was crunchy and perfectly cooked, my grandson's chocolate chip pancakes were yummy, he said.
