As this is not the norm at most American restaurants, it was a a little unclear to us whether that meant they are sharing plates or not but because most other restaurants give you too much food, ordering a small seems like a reasonable strategy unless you are either A) very hungry or B) sharing with a few members of your party. It's not cheap but this could be a good way to try different dishes. I tried the lobster risotto which was super creamy and came with a reasonable (but not overly generous ) amount of fresh lobster. The corn risotto was very good although it seemed like they had this same thing for a number of their menu items. My wife had the avocado crab salad dish, which was ok (my daughter commented that it was needlessly "fancy"), but the crab on its own would have been better. She thought her risotto was a little undercooked. We also got the corn chowder which was ok but lacked any real flavor and didn't feel worth the stomach space. The tomato bisque, a long-time staple of their menu, was much better and we really enjoyed it. For dessert we had the lava cake which was very rich and good. My son had a plain vanilla scoop, which came with his kid's meal (steak and fries).

So, up to Lake George for Americade on Sunday June 11th, 2017 with my husband a.k.a. Jughead. We walked around the village until hunger attacked us and we needed someplace to eat and cool off on this 90 degree day. Welcome to Moose Tooth Grill. They have outdoor seating of which we passed on, and entered the establishment. There was no hostess spot designated, but we were quickly approached by the person behind the bar letting us know he would be with us in a moment. He (Christian) took care of the guest who was checking out, asked us if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating and promptly sat us to a booth inside, and supplied menus. Christian asked if we had been here before, and we said no, and he explained some of the interesting features of the place. The thunderstorm that happens every half hour and the loud player piano in the back of the room. He asked if we had a drink in mind, and we were actually ready to order. Jughead chose their Root Beer, and their Cheeseburger Quesadilla and opted for the bottomless onion rings, and i decided on their Lemonade and their Spinach Salad w/Grilled Chicken. The food: It was actually rather good, I never really expect much from tourist places because they are usually there to get the customer in and out and turn a profit. Which means, the quality usually suffers in an effort to make things quickly. Jughead enjoyed his take on his all to familiar order of a burger, and said that the Quesadilla was REALLY good, and the onion rings were great. The batter was not too heavy and they were not too over done, and stealing one or two of them from his plate I could agree. My Spinach Salad had all the things you would expect (Spinach, Onions, Grilled Chicken) but welcomed things such as cranberries, walnuts and goat cheese. It really was not only tasty, but fulfilling as well. As I checked in to Moose Tooth Grill, a friend had advised us to try the Root Beer (already ordered) because it was great. And J.H couldn't agree more. We both had refills on the beverages (not normally free for the Root Beer, I supposed it is bottled) but it was given to us at no charge. The Staff: Christian could not have been friendlier. He was pleasant, attentive and even familiar (as if you knew him before). The other staff that was working was kind as well. It wasn't busy, so they were gathering to go over things by the bar, and all seemed really nice, the type of staff you would like waiting on you. Actually, I made one smile, laugh and possibly blush a little, because as he was rolling the silverware, he was singing along to the odd choice of music for the decor, and I looked at him, bounced my head along to the tune long enough for him to glance back and notice he was being noticed. Our group of ten got there early and checked in, waitress told us 20 minutes so we hung out and went to a store next door came out in a few and another group of eight checked in. Then for some reason they were seated before us! Once we got in, the decor was ok, kind of like rain forest cafe but not as cute. Our burgers were dry and tasteless, with the buns being stale. I visited Moose Tooth right before they closed for the season, so they were out of many menu items, which made sense. The atmosphere was nice, though the place felt a bit outdated. I liked the animal displays, and the sounds they made now and then were a fun touch. The food was okay, nothing special, but I enjoyed the vibe and plan to come back when they reopen for the winter carnival in February. read more

My family had the worst experience in this restaurant on a recent vacation. We received blatant racism from the host. The manager who saw the whole ordeal (by his own admission) never came over to us to offer an apology. My wife and i felt horrible but even worse for our two kids!
