I am by no means a breakfast person but after visiting this place, breakfast might just be my most favorite meal of the day. They're located on lower level inside Encino's Town Center shopping plaza. We came here on Sunday and the place was fairly crowded and full. Though our 45 minutes wait seemed a bit long, the live music in patio, relaxing sound of water fountain and number of chairs to sit while you wait made it pleasant and cozy. You have the option of dining outside and enjoying the sun or inside their cozy, home-style dining area. As the weather was so nice, we decided to eat al fresco. The moment we sat at our table, we were serviced immediately by the friendly and attentive staff. Not once did they miss a beat, our drinks and food order arrived promptly. The refills kept on coming. Even the owner came by our table to check-in on us. Menu offering is quite extensive and priced reasonably. We ordered the farmers omelette (spinach, basil, mushroom, and goat cheese), waffles Benedict and blueberry waffles. Made with 3 farm fresh eggs, the omelette was huge, packed with lots of delicious organically fresh ingredients and superb. The small cup of homemade strawberry jam and salsa that came with it was wonderful. Two Belgian waffles were also included which we upgraded to strawberry waffles for an additional $3.75 more. Both the strawberry and blueberry waffles were freakin delicious - The waffles were perfectly crisp, airy and soft. Topped with ample amounts of fresh strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream, it was sweet, decadent and delightfully good. The waffles Benedict was out of this world and sublime. Poached eggs in a rich creamy hollandaise sauce sitting on a top of ham and waffles was simply outstanding. The eggs were cooked to perfection, savory and paired nicely with the waffles. A better vehicle to traditional eggs benedict served on a english muffin. I highly recommend this! If you're health conscious, they have healthy and gluten free menu section with a nutritional break down of each item. Everyone loved the food. Great atmosphere, generous portions and superb service. I used to live in Encino, and so quite often my family and I had Breakfast at More Than Waffles. Overtime, although this mini mall has changed stores and architecture, More Than Waffles has managed to be kept grounded and I think it's due to their waffles. Perhaps I'm a bit biased because every bite takes me on a journey of nostalgia to my childhood with my brother and parents. It's not unusually delicious, but it beats typical coffee shop breakfast by a landslide at coffee shop prices. Come here and taste for yourself. The place has a homey feel to it. It's like a couple rooms in a house where they set up some tables to serve you some tasty food! I had the mediterranean omelette, my friend had a bacon and cheese omelette. We were both very pleased with our food. Our meals came with a waffle. If you're going to "More than Waffles" you've got to have a waffle, right! Do have a waffle when you're there, no matter what you order. A plain waffle is only 140 calories. You can get all kinds of toppings if you want, but I just had a plain waffle and used some of the jams they brought along with the meal, also included is a really tasty salsa. It went very well with my omelette. Our waitress was personality plus. One of the best, coolest waitresses I've ever experienced in Los Angeles. Didn't catch her name. She had some nice tats on her arm. Try to sit at one of her tables. I guess you'll have to ask for "the girl with the arm tattoos." The only negative are the bathrooms. They are both in something similar to a closet and then the doors to each bathroom are inside the "closet." There's only one for each, so there's pretty much always a wait for the restroom and it's a small closet. Since it's behind the door, you can't see the line. It's in a mall, downstairs, right across from the Laemmle's Town Center 5 movie theater. If you can find that, you'll find More than Waffles, and you'll be glad you did! read more

I really don't know what to think. Coming here is like getting lost in the world of Alice in Wonderland. The outdoor plaza is beautiful, with a big fountain, great ambiance, and they even had a live pianist playing with his cute dog by his side. But if you don't opt in and request to sit outside specifically, be prepared to fall down that rabbit hole. Eating inside is like eating in a grandma fun dungeon. I don't know what the interior decorator was thinking, but I don't want to pretend like it's a nightmare in the 50's. No windows, dark, old furniture, gaudy wallpaper... it's honestly just depressing. In addition to that, the menu is pretty big. Almost too many options, and most of them are the same as everything else, just either in a crepe, French toast, waffle, or pancake, so the variation is pretty lacking. Oh baby, baby! My boyfriend found this spot (thank you Food Network!) and it did not disappoint. The wait was a little long, but not bad at all--the complimentary coffee was such a nice touch! We ended up eating outside and there was live music by an older gentleman and I loved it! I would go back for the coffee and music man alone. But, the food, THE FOOD, oh my it deserves it's own paragraph of praise. I ordered the Tuscan Benedict, which was poached eggs with bruschetta & feta over wheat toast with potatoes on the side and my boyfriend had corned beef hash + bacon + eggs + waffle + potatoes. Needless to say, the portions were generous. Our food was soo yummy. And then there was the after breakfast dessert, but it came on a waffle, so that counts as breakfast. It was the LOVE waffle. And yes, it lived up to expectations. I didn't know one waffle could deliver so much happiness. I had a hard time finding this place because it is actually inside the plaza/shopping center. Once you're inside you'll see the huge crowd waiting to be seated. The wait wasn't too bad considering I went for Sunday brunch. It was about a 30 minute wait. The service is decent. The waitress checked in on us several times. Inside looks very much like an old bed and breakfast. It is very loud in there. I looked around to see what everyone was having. Of course the most popular were the WAFFLES (duh!). I really didn't feel like being healthy so i went ahead and ordered the crazy caramel waffles, which are topped with pecans, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and caramel. I also tried the chocolate Chips waffles but i liked mine better. We shared a half order of potatoes that had bacon, cheese, onion and I want to say egg but I don't remember. Tucked away inside the shopping center this place has such a garden feel. Josie helped us during our visit and she was very friendly and super attentive. Before our food came out which was fairly quick, she had us all set with extra plate, napkins, and condiments. Great service for sure! Waffle was delicious, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Omelette was very fluffy and the ingredients were cooked perfectly.
