We ordered for dine-in but after waiting 15 minutes for playing soufflé pancakes that still have yet to come out, we decided to take it to go as we had a reservation. We did tip 15% as we had planned on staying to dine in. Nonetheless, I requested to take the order to go and the individual at the register confirmed with her team members. we ended up waiting 30+ minutes for mid soufflé pancakes. (I honestly think they forgot until they heard my partner complain that it's been 30+ minutes for plain soufflé pancakes and that they were just chitter chatting behind the register). They were very disappointing and just tasted like very eggy sponge cakes. I'd recommend ordering at least 45 minutes ahead unless you want to spend at least 30 minutes waiting for mid pancakes that look cute on Instagram. The drink came out earlier and I expected the drink prepared with the soufflé pancake but it was not. This place is definitely an over-hyped disappointment, and I would never visit again. 4.5/5 a friend recommended their popular souffle pancakes so even though we were pretty full from dinner and it was near closing, we managed to make a take-out order and pick it up just as Motto Tea was closing! unfortunately they were out of certain items like the mango cream (and therefore all the mango drinks and mango pancakes :( ) by that time, but on the flip side I guess that's good as it must be freshly made! we were impressed by the pancakes, even though when we ate them they weren't warm anymore since they were to-go. each order came with 3 little pancakes and were SO fluffy, light, and just-enough sweetness and egginess. the "cheese cream", although it sounds weird, was also light and paired very well with the pancakes. we liked how that pancake order came with a little fruit and granola too. in addition to trying the popular pancakes we also opted for a few drinks. we wanted to try the yuzu passionfruit but oddly that only came hot (according to the online order) - however we realized there was a yuzu passionfruit with lemon that was a cold option that was tart and delicious! we also tried the grapefruit lychee which wasn't strong in lychee flavor but did come with the nice addition of grapefruit arils and a jasmine tea flavored jelly i've never had before and thought was quite good. 2 orders of pancakes (~$15 each) and 3 drinks (~$6 each) totalled about $50 for our late night treat which is a bit pricey but the quality of all the items was good, tasty, not too sweet, and fresh. overall a bit of a splurge treat but customer service was very kind and prompt (our order was ready in ~20 min and packer well for pickup), and if we'd sat inside i think we'd have enjoyed the clean wooden design and bright aesthetic too. read more

Location is within a plaza with other stores, there is underground parking which is most likely where you'll park as surface level parking is limited and can fill up in the evening. The cafe is located along Valley Blvd and can be seen from the street, you can't miss it. Motto's interior is nicely lit with recessed and hanging lights, smallish space definitely cafe vibes. Right as you enter you'll see the cake display. There's limited seating and the place can get quite busy. From the entrance to the right are two kiosks where you can place orders (if not made at the cashier). There's a small viewing area separated by plexiglass for you to see the staff making the Souffle Pancakes. They have a single gender neutral bathroom as well. The menu is quite extensive, so fair warning if you're like me and get choice paralysis. A variety of coffee and tea drinks and for food, various types of cakes. I ordered the Creme Brulee souffle pancake with a Citrus Fresh Oolong tea at 25% sweetness. The souffle pancake came in a 3 stack covered their creme brulee sauce with the slightly hardened sugar crust. The pancakes were delicious, extremely light and fluffy as expected with the custard flavored sauce. I absolutely loved the eggy custard flavor. It came with some fruit as well. The citrus Oolong tea was refreshing and went well with the cake, although I didn't really notice the citrus. If you don't like sweet on sweet definitely opt for lesser sugar in the tea. My friend ordered the Earl Grey Milk Tea crepe cake which also was light and had a light tea flavor which was really nice. The quality of everything we ordered was fantastic. Okay I am obsessed with this spot. I tried a few things on the menu: -cheesy mango yogurt: it's a mango puree smoothie and topped with their cheesy mousse. It's very refreshing and the mousse balances the sweetness. -coconut mango crepe cake: so soft and what I love about these deserts is the balance of sweetness. They do have 2 kiosk at the right of the entrance where you can place your order and then they call your name. Typically pretty quick with your orders. It is small inside but super bright, cute area. They also have a small patio outside. Parking can be tough in the area just because that plaza is small but they do have a parking garage in the plaza so you can drive down to park. Worth the wait!!! I've been to a couple soufflé spots and was pretty excited about Motto. You know it's good if there is always a crowd inside and a line of patrons waiting outside. Plenty of parking is available in the plaza lot. Many of the plaza business locations are vacant. Motto Tea Cafe and a KBBQ spot at the other end seem to be the only businesses keeping the plaza busy. Once you squeeze through the crowd, you place your order on one of two ChowBus kiosks in front of the counter. The kiosk is big and bright so you can easily scroll the menu. Smart move to have the kiosks so close to the counter where orders are being placed for pick up. Not to mention a brightly lit display case right in front for more temptation. Good luck only ordering one item. I managed to order just one item since I was taking it to go...sneaking it into the movies, shh! I ordered the Crème Brûlée, madde my payment, and supplied my phone number for receipt and order info all on the kiosk. I received a text right away confirming my order and advising that it could be up to 30 mins. I know that the soufflés take a lot of time to prepare so I had expected a wait. My husband and I happily walked the surrounding plazas while we waited. A little less than 30 mins later, I received my text and picked up my order placed on a shelf to the right of the order counter. I was stoked as I walked to the car but disappointed when I opened the container. I immediately wished that I had ordered my soufflé to dine in and enjoy in its full glory. The soufflès fell over and weren't pretty (see my photo). And I totally didn't get to test the jiggle. Aside from me ruining the visuals, the soufflés were light, fluffy, amazingly moist, not too sweet, and oh so yummy. This is my new favorite dessert place!! I visited for the first time yesterday night (Saturday around 8:30 PM). It was not too busy at that time. There are two big self-serve kiosks from which you order. I liked using the kiosks because you can scroll through the menu and see exactly what each item looks like and what options you can choose from (e.g. sweetness, toppings, temperature, etc.). However I can see how during busier times of day, the line can get really backed up with only two kiosks. Therefore, I would recommend checking the menu and deciding what you would like to order beforehand. The cafe is very cutely decorated. There is indoor seating and an outdoor patio. My friend and I ordered an earl gray tea crepe cake, which was absolutely divine! Tasted strongly of earl gray tea and was the right amount of sweetness (in my opinion). 10/10 would recommend. For drinks, I got a hot matcha tea with cheese foam (50% sweetness) and my friend got a hot genmai brown rice tea (75% sweetness). We loved that the drinks were served at the perfect temperature such that we didn't have to wait and could drink them immediately without burning ourselves. Both drinks were good but we especially liked the genmai tea. Regarding sweetness, I am someone who likes my drinks sweet but not too sweet so I preferred the 75% sweetness over 50%. I'll definitely be coming back and taking my family and more friends here. Next time I want to try their souffle pancakes. My cousin, who is really into souffle pancakes, said that this cafe's pancakes are very good. The thin layer of daifuku is a mochi texture that paired so well with the pancakes. The pistachio cream was light and came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The portion was large and filling for 2 people. - Mont Blanc Earl grey cake Box: I love the flavor of Earl grey and this Chesnut cake in a box was so good! It has layers of Earl grey pudding, cake, Chesnut cream, and pieces of chestnuts. As a cake, it's definitely on the heavier side but I highly recommend trying it out! I also tried their Berries in Uji matcha drink and it was very strong in the berry flavors which came with a strawberry jam and blueberries. Upon walking in there were no customers. The lady at the register directs me to the machine to place my order. As I'm placing my order you're required to enter your cell phone #. I ask her how do I place the order and bypass cell number. She says it's required so she can text me when it's ready. I tell her I'm dining in and there's no other customer in the store. So I came here on accident with some friends. My nieces have been wanting soufflé pancakes. I told them I would take them some day and asked them which one, they said Motto. This visit, I came with friends and they wanted dessert. I tagged along and it happened to be the same place. lol I never thought that soufflé pancakes have been a think. I've had my share in 2019 in Japan but I've been seeing them pop up like crazy lately. Although I didn't have my own this visit I did try my friends and they are damn delicious at Motto. I did indulge in a milk tea and even after a full dinner someone is right, there is always room for dessert. For a weekend and being evening this Motto location was pretty crazy.
