Sure you can order a bubble tea here, but at Motto Tea Cafe, I think the big question is how long does it take to make a souffle pancake from scratch? When I visited, they were taking about 20 minutes. Mango Sunshine Soufflé Pancake: This really is a triple stack of golden sunshine. Like many have said, it's jiggly and fluffy. When they set the plate on the table, the stack wobbles for a moment. The cake is soft and squishy, definitely entering the classification of a souffle or pudding. The pancake melts in your mouth. Is it a cloud? It's so light and airy. Does it contain meringue? It's also a bit spongy. The stack is topped with a sweet cream and mango sauce. Sweet pineapples, strawberries, and blueberries form a perimeter around the pancakes. Parking: The u-shaped lot is big and it also has underground parking.
Saw this somewhere on social media and wanted to check out their Japanese style soufflé pancakes - very light and fluffy. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but they do have underground parking at the complex. Once inside, there are a few tables, but they fill up quickly when it gets busy. Luckily we can there at a slow time, but it didn't take long for it to get busy - some had to wait outside before ordering. For ordering, you use a kiosk and they bring the food to your table - if eating there. Our drink came quickly but the soufflé took a little while. The soufflé itself was very good. Definitely light and fluffy, with good flavor. Sweet but not overly sweet. Paired well with the strawberries. It's also a decent size - enough for two people. It is a little on the high side in terms of cost - iMO. However it's well made with fresh ingredients. I'm sure the process the make them fluffy and light is delicate. I'm glad I had a chance to try it.
Tried the strawberry soufflé and it was really soft and yummy with real strawberries and a tasty yogurt (?) cream. It's pretty pricey ($16-$17), but worth trying at least once. There are various flavors to try and the drinks are the same - variety of flavors. We ordered a brown sugar boba milk tea before realizing how many other choices there were. It's not a very big place and the decor is typical of a drink/dessert place. It got really busy -probably because it was Friday night and people like to hang out. There was a line out the door, but it moved surprisingly quickly. Drink orders came out fast but you have to wait a bit for the soufflé. If it's busy, finding a table might be a challenge, but getting things to go seemed fine. It's in a plaza so there's parking, but it's a busy plaza so you might have to park underground.
An amazing eating experience! I've seen these Japanese souffle pancakes all over social media and decided to try them.....THEY WERE AMAZING!!! I never really rate anything a 10 but I tell you, this was a 10. First the parking- there's parking located in the lower level tunnel and there's also parking in the back of the business center. Once you're in, you place your order through the kiosk. Orders usually take about 20 minutes. We ordered the creme brulee and Nutella pancakes, they were light, fluffy, great portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. Very cool relaxing vibe inside. It's surprising how busy this place is especially for women/girls (maybe souffle is more popular among girls?) The only guys you see mostly liley are those who come as part of a family. However I personally think souffle is a glorified version of pancake. It's slightly thicker and more fluffy and if you like pancakes there is no reason why you wouldn't like this (other than the price?). The location is in a strip mall next to the bigger 99 Ranch plaza and parking can be difficult to find especially top side but there is a underground parking lot next door. It can still get busy so you may have to park in that plaza and walk over on busy weekends. Just note this place is busy even in the weekday evenings. There are very few tables so if you are coming as a date/family, you may not find a table. The tables are also small so I wouldn't recommend a large group of more than 4. You order via a kiosk and for drinks they will call your order number. For souffle if you dine in, you can take a number stand and place on your table just like some McDonald's. Souffle is not bad and not too sweet especially with the original flavor.
Great soufflé pancakes as usual with the cheese cream topping. Took about 20 mins+ on a Tuesday afternoon. I asked the guy if the cookies are good and he nodded and recommended the mixed cookies; they taste like shit. Wish I could get my $9 back. Anyway, would only return for the pancakes.
Came in on a Sunday for the first time, thinking the place would be not be so busy... it was packed. LOL The food & drinks are really good! we had the matcha French toast & the crème brûlée pancakes! The French toast had a bold taste of matcha, however the bread itself felt a bit dry. The crème brûlée pancakes were delicious & fluffy! Super airy, I do get what people say about the "egg taste" however it was not an issue for me, the crème brûlée flavor over powers with its sweetness. My pancakes did take about 25min to arrive after the French toast but the wait time is expected & one is informed once ordering :) overall 3.8/10, I will say I wish they had music playing to help with the ambiance of the place.
Delicious souffle pancakes with great fluffy texture and flavor! This location can get quite busy so there are times it's difficult to even find a seat, and when you do come during busy times, expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your pancakes to come out. They also have a good selection of drinks which are a great pairing to your pancakes. It's definitely a great dessert spot as you get your fix on both small bites and a drink. I got the Mango in kyoto which was nice and sweet from the mango balanced by the matcha flavor! Ambiance is casual, can get quite loud again during busy times where it's hard to hear conversations.
My favorite souffle pancake spot! I accidentally posted on gram cafe and realized 7 months later because i tried them around the same time. But motto is def way better. I dont get sick of eating it whereas gram i was starting to get bored of the taste. This one is sooo airy and soft and doesnt taste too eggy. The drinks are alright though nothing special
Great souffle pancakes for a reasonable price! They're delicious, fluffy, and the cream is a perfect addition. They come out in about 20-30 minutes during non-rush hours but can take longer when more people are around. The tea and drinks here are also really good. Its cozy, with lighting that isn't too overwhelming and a good amount of indoor seating. There are two kiosks to order at and you get yourself a table number. They bring the pancakes out to you! There is music playing at a nice volume that isn't distractingly loud. There is also a clean bathroom inside if you need to go. Overall, rate this location a 8/10!
Sesame drink with tofu pudding on their menu? I'm definitely stopping by. The big self order kiosks were convenient. Status was notified through text message. Sesame was nutty and creamy, not too watered down. I chose it less sweet but was sweeter than I hoped for, prob from the boba that I accidentally added. Tofu was silky but wish there was more since I got this drink mainly because of that. All the indoor tables were taken on a Sunday afternoon since people ordered their signature crepe cakes and fluffy pancakes. They do also have some outdoor seating. Will want to try the soufle pancakes next time I come on a weekday and hopefully it's less crowded
We came here to cry the infamous souffle pancakes and they did not disappoint! This location had a few tables for seating and a couple fo outdoor seating. Easy parking in the plaza. There are a few seasonal flavors for the souffle pancakes - we ordered the strawberry soufflé pancake. The pancakes are the jigglist, fluffiest pillows of joy. The strawberry was not too sweet either and gave a nciie freshness to the plate. Be prepared to wait a bit for these pancakes. There is a glass window to see them making it, but you can tell the pancakes are a little finicky to cook just right that requires staff to keep attention on it. The first batch they started were burnt so they did have to start again which we waited about 30+ minutes to finally get, but devoured in 5. Price was around ~$17 in person but ordering on online delivery apps is a little more. One surprise star of the night was the pork sung taro mochi mini cake. The sweet and savory-ness blended so well together and the mochi filling inside was nicely chewy! Price is on the higher sde, but was delicious!

Ordering here was really easy. It took a while though just because groups were ordering together and there were only two kiosks. You grab a table number and try to find seating (if you dine in). That was kind of hard tbh because even if you get take out, you need to wait, so there were a lot of people in the small space. We chose to pick a spot outside. The sign said the wait for soufflé pancakes was 90 minutes. Crazy? Idk, but were we even crazier for waiting anyway? No, coz that's what we wanted so we waited lol it actually didn't take the full 90 min, closer to an hour. But since we ordered a few things, they brought our stuff out incrementally so we were able to enjoy the rest of our food while we waited for the pancakes. Drinks came out around 20 min, Mochi nuggets around 45 min, and pancakes at 60 min. We changed seats twice as people left lol I got the taro boba tea which was good. Real taro and soft boba can't go wrong lol the Oreo Mochi nuggets were good too, I liked the salt cream and crispy flakes that came with it. You can change your experience adding more cream/crunch. Now the pancakes... we've gone to one other soufflé pancake spot now, so my experience is a little limited. It's trending right now, so that could be contributing to the crowd, but don't let that discourage you! It's a real treat! The pancakes here are more airy, but also eggy, which I personally liked. Motto is one of my favorite places to get soufflé pancakes. I decided to finally write a review after a disappointing visit to Gram cafe this past Sunday. There's a large selection of fruit teas, milk teas, and desserts. The staff are always friendly and the ambiance is very welcoming. There's plenty of seating, plus a cute outdoor area. This is definitely a perfect place to study or chat with friends. I visited today with a friend and ordered the lemon explosion tea, uji matcha latte, mango sunshine soufflé, and the seasonal pistachio strawberry daifuku soufflé. Both pancakes took about 15 minutes to prepare. Lemon explosion, regular sweet, regular size (5/5): [$4.95] -my go-to drink here! I usually get it with the citrus oolong tea but I believe you can also choose jasmine green tea as a different base -very refreshing lemon taste -has lemon and lime slices -not too sweet Uji matcha, half sweet, regular size (5/5): [$5.25] -my friend said it tasted exactly like the matcha latte she had recently in kyoto -well balanced matcha flavor -the latte is on the thicker side (which I like, but just personal preference) Mango sunshine soufflé pancake (5/5): [$14.50] -presentation is stunning, you can tell that there was a lot of effort put into it -the texture is very fluffy and light -slight eggy taste -the signature cheese mousse is the perfect thick consistency and is slightly salty which balances out the sweetness of the fresh mango purée -love the granola and fruit garnishes! the varying textures keep the dish interesting and compliment each other well (Seasonal) pistachio strawberry daifuku soufflé (5/5): [~$18] -beautiful presentation, once again -I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted this because I thought it would be dry since it didn't have a mousse topping. Turns out, there was a pistachio cream injected into the pancake -subtle pistachio flavor -texture was perfect, the pistachio cream did not make it soggy at all -not too sweet -came with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream that complimented the entire dish very well -the layer of daifuku (mochi) on top was extremely soft and chewy (tbh wish they added it to every pancake) -pistachio and matcha powder garnish also worked well for more texture + subtle matcha flavor This was my friend's first time at motto, and she loved the soufflé pancakes so much that she ordered another one! (We originally only planned on getting the mango sunshine pancake). She kept saying how similar the pancakes were to the ones she had in Japan, and wants to bring her parents since this was their favorite dessert. Overall, I highly recommend motto and believe it serves the best soufflé pancakes in the area at a great price. read more

This place is always packed. It was loud. Have someone save a table while someone else places an order. Otherwise you won't have a place to sit. They no lo ng we take your order in person but instead of two kiosks to take people's orders. I gues sit makes sense. They're so packed all the time, you need all hands on deck making pancakes and drinks. Our pancakes came out eventually but the drinks lagged behind. By the time we got our drinks the pancakes had flattened a bit. Take your pics before the drinks come out since you're probably going to be waiting a while. Pancakes were good as usual. Drinks were good too. I'm glad the quality hasn't gone down. read more

The pancakes were really fluffy and good. It's more on the eggy side of the flavor. Presentation makes you wanna eat all of the other varieties they have. They all look delicious! It's a self service kinda-thing since you order at the kiosk. Ambiance is trendy and modern. The 2 places that I've been to, parking can be challenging. So better to get dropped off. read more

I was craving for some Japanese souffle pancake and decided to give this a try. It's my first visit here since they opened in SGV. The seasonal flavor is matcha tiramisu but I decided to get the nutella instead, asking with the Earl grey crepe cake. The pancake was good. It's soft and fluffy. You can see it wiggle around when you move the plate. The nutella moouse is a tad sweet but it's good when you mix it with the pancake. It's also a decent portion as well. However, I actually prefer the souffle pancake at a different dessert place in Alhambra since theirs were more toasted with stronger egg flavor. As for the crepe cake, it seems the Earl grey flavoring was a tad more. It also tasted more artificial to be compare to the usual Earl gray taste. The crepe itself was alright. If you compare the texture to places like Lady M, you can taste the difference. read more

I have been following this business on IG for over a year and very excited to have finally tried it earlier this afternoon. Cute, casual place with potential. Let's be honest- service is lacking here. Arrived just minutes after opening (12PM) today and there were very few customers already inside waiting for their food/ drinks. I noticed it was an all female crew! It took ridiculously long to receive both our milk teas. I went back inside twice to check and still not ready. I like the print on their tea/boba cups. I was told upon ordering the souffle pancakes that it would take 15mins- that is expected and also noted on their menu. Expect to pay about $15 for an order of the pancakes. My order of 2 souffle pancakes and 2 milk teas was over $40. When our pancakes arrived, they did not disappoint. Presentation was executed well. The pancakes were airy and fluffy. My brother ordered the creme brulee and I had Nutella. I didn't think either one was overly sweet. No one came to check if we needed anything or liked our order. Neither one of us were able to finish our plate. Plates are thick plastic and I just expected this place would have real cutlery. The plastic utensils seemed so unfitting and cheap compared to the aesthetics of the place. The cakes/ baked goods in the case looked yummy and all were priced well over $5. I found it annoying that they wanted to charge me $1 for a water cup for my dog. I don't care if it's refillable. This place is in a busy plaza and has a small outdoor patio. You can only access the patio from inside the Cafe. They have a rewards system! Be sure to sign up at the register. I would love to return to try the mango souffle pancakes and more milk teas/ beverages. read more

Came here because of all the positive reviews and the tik tok I came across. This place was overpriced and the wait time was ridiculous. First of all I came at a non busy hour , there was 2 other ppl inside . Ordered 2 regular sized bobas , 1 pistachio crepe cake @ the nutellamisu mousse soufflé pancake . Paid 40$ for those items not including tip which they automatically preselect the amount on your bill unless you change the percentage on your own . Staff wasn't too friendly and were too busy mingling amongst each other . Never asked how the items were or anything . Drinks and crepe cake came out within 10 minutes 20 minutes later the soufflé pancake came out and we were all disappointed. It had a really unpleasant aftertaste. Was extremely eggy which made it taste like rotten eggs . I thought it was only me but my friend gagged when he took the first bite . Boba was good and so was the pistachio crepe cake in comparison to what we actually came for . Won't be returning . read more

I love souffle pancakes, which is kinda dangerous for my waist that more are opening up in SGV. I've been to Motto Tea Cafe's Pasadena location, this location took over Blackball and is right across from Boiling Point. We went recently right before Covid restriction were lifted, but were able to dine in at their only table inside. Everyone else were at the outside patio. My friends and I shared the taro souffle pancakes with added bobas. This is only available on the weekends and takes about 15-20 minutes to make. The pancakes were large, airy, fluffy, and delicious! It had cream, fruits, mochi and bobas! We each also got a drink, we all agreed the matcha drinks were the best! We got the Mango in Kyoto which had matcha mousse and the Mango in Uji with has traditional matcha. Both were refreshing and delicious on a summer hot day! My friend also ordered some pastries and another of souffle pancakes to-go to share with her family. She said everything was still yummy a few hours later. You can order online and pick up in store, but the line wasn't too bad in person. The parking underground are wider so it's probably safer for your car. I wish they would make the pancakes on weekdays too but it's only available on weekends. read more

My friend and I ordered the signature cheese mousse soufflés pancake, a couple of drinks for dine in. I ordered a few cake pieces as take out thereafter. Pancakes: 5/5 will eat again! Super fluffy, flavorful, and I didn't get sick of eating it. There's a slight saltiness, that balances out the sweetness. Drinks: 4.5/5 refreshing and totally customizable. Hokkaido cheese roll cake: 4/5 creamy and light, but I wanted more cheese flavor Pistachio crepe cake: 4/5 pronounced pistachio flavor and not to sweet, would be delicious with some tea or coffee Earl grey roll cake: 4/5 strong earl grey tea flavor, fluffy light texture Peach black tea crepe cake: 2/5 my least favorite, too much black tea flavor not enough peach. Pass. If coming on a wnkd, I suggest coming right at opening or else prepare to wait a while. Also I want to suggest to the business that they should start making the pancakes before opening. Since all the pancakes are probably the same batter just different toppings/sauces. We were some of the first customers to place our order and it still took 40min. read more
It was very exciting to come here to try Japanese soufflé pancakes for the first time. This appears to be one of the few locations in LA to try them. Around Sunday at noon, there was ample parking in the underground lot. There are two self ordering stations, so as you can imagine, a line can form. Wait- The line took about 10 minutes. For drinks, it took about 15/20 minutes and about 45 for the pancakes. I'd consider coming at an off time for less wait next time. Drinks- We got the uji macha and moto no. 5. The drinks and cheese topping were really flavorful. They offer almond, soy and oat milk if that aligns with your preferences. Pancakes- We tried the crème brûlée and the taro pancakes. The crème brûlée had a nicer presentation that the taro cakes. Regardless of which type of pancake you pick, these fluffy pancakes are worth your time and will leave you feeling satisfied. They are a little on the pricey side. I felt really happy to finally find somewhere to try these delightful soufflé pancakes! read more
First time trying souffle pancakes and I'm obsessed! For this location, they are only available on weekends. I got the signature Cheese Mousse pancakes. They were super airy, soft and fluffy. Took them to go, so the cheese mousse was on the side. The mousse was so light and creamy, perfect with the pancakes! Fruits added a nice refreshingness. And you know the pancakes are cooked well because they did not deflate even after a 15 minute drive. Also tried the Farmers Milk Tea and Berries in Uji. At 50% sweetness, the milk tea was perfect for me. It had a smooth taste, the matcha mousse was delicious, and oreo crumbs were a nice way to top it off. Berries in Uji had a yummy puree made from fresh strawberries and blueberries. The Uji matcha poured on top of the drink had an authentic flavor and mixed nicely with the milk. Highly recommend this drink! Easily order online and pick it up in store. You won't have to wait in line. Lots of parking is available underground. read more
Their pancakes took no more than 10mins from order to table. By far the fastest fluffy pancakes ever made, but they were not hot..? Bit sure I'd they're made to order or they have them premade. Their peaches were definitely not fresh. Already oxidized when they were given to us. Drinks were expensive. $6 for a standard size drink that's very blend. I got oolong tea with cheese foam with 75% sugar. The drink itself is not good by any means, very bitter, it's more like 25% sugar instead of 75%. Their cheese foam were so good though,!!!!! And they're very generous! 1/5 of the cup were filled with cheese foam! Yum! read more

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Motto number 5 milk tea with 25% sweetness and brown sugar boba tasted what you expect from a boba. The boba had a nice chewy texture (QQ) and is sweeter than the drink. Ambience: N/A - ordered drink to go but the shop is cute and feels clean Service: N/A - ordered online but the servers are fairly attentive even with the crazy crowds. The order ticket stated about 25 minute wait and it was fairly spot on Value for price: 3/5 - similar price to other boba places and the boba isn't anything crazy special. もっとお茶カフェ truly lives up to its name. Motto means "even more" or "some more" in Japanese, and if I could describe the menu and the offerings that this place has, I would go with that terminology. This place goes beyond the typical boba shop, in the sense that they offer much more than just the average milk tea boba experience. There's also taro and matcha based drinks, fruit smoothies, all sorts of delectable cakes and even fluffy Japanese pancakes. The service is as fast and efficient as it can be, considering the number of people and the traffic this place handles, the atmosphere is great too, as it feels like a solid place to just go and hang out with friends for a good while (just for reference, my friends and I were here from 7:30pm till around 9:30pm, and ordered and enjoyed several different things from the menu, while talking. We never felt rushed or like we weren't wanted there, so kudos to the staff for that, very welcoming place). Immaculate vibes overall. read more
Called for soufflé pancakes for pick-up. They text you when your order is ready to be picked up. Usually takes almost an hour for the soufflés to be ready. I got the crème brûlée and Nutella tiramisu. I gave the crème brûlée to my kids, not the tiramisu since it has some caffeine I wouldn't recommend that for kids. However the crème brûlée wasn't that sweet for my liking, not enough sugar browned on top. But I guess that's a good thing for the kids. They seemed to like it. Pistachio cheesecake w/ raspberry mousse: **** The pistachio cheesecake is pretty good, tho the pistachio flavor isn't very strong. Crème brûlée soufflé cake: *** Maybe my expectation for the cake was too high, that's why I was not amazed by it. It is a decent fluffy pancake The drinks are okay. This place was pretty good. The pancakes are huge and so yummy. The one we got had a sauce that was a bit sour. I do want to come back and try something different. Not knowing much about the flavors makes it a bit difficult to choose what to get. You order through a monitor. They are a bit pricy as well. read more
I've been here about five times in the last two weeks! They have the BEST mango matcha drink for the best price ($6.15). I've see other tea, and specifically matcha shops, in LA and 626 area sell matcha + fruit drinks for $8+. I must say, the tea quality and freshness of fruit are consistent and solid every single time. Their soufflé pancakes are the main attraction and so delicious! I've never waited less than 20 minutes to get drinks or food, so I recommend ordering ahead via phone! read more
I stopped by the Motto Cafe that opened up in San Gabriel. One of my friends would post a lot about the time she went to the Pasadena one so when I found out they opened the San Gabriel store I was interested in trying it out. They took over the old black ball space in this plaza. And with a lot of the outdoor dining tents out on that first level there isn't much parking but there is still a lot of parking in the underground levels. When I got there there was still somewhat of a wait and with it still being part of the soft opening I think they are having troubles putting orders in. I decided to order online with a QR code that they had posted. I was able to get my order and that was linked through the toast tab website. I was told that my drink would be ready in about 20 minutes. And if you had ordered a souffle pancake that it would possibly take even longer during its busy time. With it still being there soft opening it's understandable that they're still some bumps in the road here. I had wanted boba in the drink and when I got it there was no boba. One positive was that they had my drink ready probably in 5 to 10 minutes but hopefully I can get a refund on the crystal boba I didn't get. There was also some discrepancy of what the toast tab website confirmation number gave me vs what was texted to me. The website had the accurate number whereas the number texted to me was one number less and so I was confused when I got there and they said I had an extra drink that they hadn't made yet. 4 stars for now with the hiccups I encountered but I still have hope for this place to iron out the wrinkles but I'm sure they'll be fine. Came to Motto Tea Cafe in San Gabriel to try their infamous Japanese souffle pancakes. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking was free and relatively easy to find in the plaza. I parked underground. We ordered the Creme Brulee and Nutellamisu Mousse & Oreo pancakes which took 25-50 minutes to make. There was a wait time because they make the pancakes from scratch and the cooking process is slow and low heat. The wait was worth it! The pancakes were so soft and fluffy and tasted like a moist sponge cakes more than traditional American pancakes. Each pancake order came with 3 pancakes. I enjoyed the Creme Brulee more. We sat outside where they had an awning above, outdoor lighting, and heat lamps (although they weren't turned on). They offered both regular tables and chairs to bar table seating that faces the street. A good place to hang out and socialize. There was a non-stop flow of customers so get here early. Next time we'll come back to try the drinks too! read more

Was impressed by the nice atmosphere of the place and was planning to give a 4-star review, but, ONE BITE of MAGICAL Crème Brûlée Soufflé Pancakes pushed my hand to tap the 5th star!!! It was that good!! I rarely give emotional reviews but the soft, warm and heavenly taste of the soufflé they have is something else!! The portion size is huge - don't try to finish one by yourself! You might get food coma, as we did! It's likely a 3-person shareable dessert. And definitely eat it soon as they serve it up! They have a few other cakes and sweets for take outs. The Uji Macha Latte was good too. Would definitely come back to try other flavors of the soufflés. read more

I really like the souffle here, it's super delicious! Their boba tea is also great, but it takes about 30 minutes to get it each time. Personally I think it is not very convenient for me, hope they can improve their work efficiency. read more

I had been wanting to visit the Pasadena location but had no idea there was one in San Gabriel as well! We got the momo peach crepe cake which was light and fluffy, almost more cake-like (sponge cake to be exact) in texture rather than the denser/more substantial Lady M kind. The peach flavor of the jelly on top was exactly that of Asian peach gummy candies but the rest was more natural tasting. We paired the cake with momo peach Japanese milk teas which surprised me because I was expecting a slightly artificial sweet peach gummy flavor like the cake had, but the tea was more floral. The gummy flavor was definitely there but more as a scent/light undertone to the green tea flavor (I also had it at 25% sweet though). The shop is bright, soft, and spacious! read more

Smells sooooo good when you walk in. It smells like melted butter and sweet cream as soon as you open the door. Many tables here to eat and hang out with your lover or your friends. When we got here at 9pm Thursday, it was pretty busy even though it was a weeknight. About 30 min wait til we got our drinks and pancake. Messy mango: very good, strong mango taste. 10/10 Berries in Kyoto: you can taste chunks of berries. Matcha cream is very subtle. Cheese souffle pancake: Order before you start driving. This took the longest time. It wasn't raw inside like I feared, in fact it was cooked all the way, slightly too firm to be jiggly but it was still very good. New boba place in San Gabriel (to replace Blackballs)!! Motto Tea Cafe has a location in Pasadena that I've always wanted to go to but never got the chance to go there but I'm super glad that they opened a store in SG so it's closer to me and has its own parking lot. I preordered my items online on a Sunday and it took about 30 mins because I ordered the Souffle Pancakes. My ordered consisted of 4 items: Uji Matcha with Matcha Cheese Foam, Berries in Kyoto, Milk Tea Crepe Cake, and Motto Signature Souffle with Nutellamisu. I was expecting my matcha drink to be more "regular matcha tea + foam" but my base kind of just taste like matcha milk tea with more matcha foam. I don't know if they messed up on that part but even though I like matcha milk tea, I was looking forward to a more tea base instead. I recommend their berries in kyoto drink, the fresh berries on the bottom reminds me of the berries from the Very Berry Sundaes from Costco; super sweet and fresh but it mixed well with the milk and matcha. I would pass on the milk tea crepe cake; I personally love the concept of it but the flavors to me were meh. I think it was too sweet? It's definitely one of those desserts that you'd want to try once and then never order again. It didn't really taste like a crepe cake consistency to me but just like a regular cake even though it's shaped with the different layers of crepes. I would 100% recommend their souffle pancakes. Reminds me of Japan. Every time I come back, I would definitely order their pancakes. If you're looking for a super instagram worthy picture, I would dine in for these pancakes. Take outs do ruin the pictures but the taste is still 10/10. You can order the cream sauce on the side so the heat of the fresh pancakes don't melt the cream. Definitely will come again to try more of their drinks because their drink menu is pretty extensive. Love that you can just order online because this place always has a long line! I've tried all the desserts and i love that they are not overly sweet! It's perfect for the asian who doesnt want diabetes but still loves sweets. My fave is the black sesame and green tea rolls. Also tried the creme brule souffle pancakes. Made to order and soft and fluffy! Just look at that jiggle. Will be back to try more desserts and drinks! I didnt love the mango latte that i got but have yet to try their milk tea! read more

Limited seating indoor also outdoor. Chair is very uncomfortable that actually hurt my butt n thigh if you don't seat face front. Scan for menu on entrance or actual menu by cashier or menu top of cashier Drinks is okay, is my 1st time I did not finish it. Fluffy pancake is not soft as other places but larger portion. No not that I noticed. Just the teas but no food items.
Has anyone ordered the soufflé to-go? Is this still as good?
Personally, I think it is better when it is fresh and in person. When you take it to go, it is still tasty but it's not as fresh or as pretty.
Do you need reservations?
No reservation is needed. It's a Cafe like Boba shop. They use (touchless) online order onsite.
Are you doing soufflé pancakes regularly now or still just weekend?
They serve everyday but cutoff for souffle pancake order is 8pm
Soufflé pancakes are only on weekends?
