I stopped by on my way out of town to get a simple breakfast burrito. It was over $15 and was the size of a fast food breakfast burrito at a Del Taco or Carls Jr... The bacon in it was burned and I had to throw out several pieces, and overall it was just not good. I go to Big Bear often, but will not be returning to Mountain Munchies, it was overpriced and was just plain terrible. Look y'all, I'm not saying the sandwich was necessarily bad, but what I ordered was a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and this was not it. It was deli meat with some warmed up cheese on top. I'm not mad or anything, I just wish the title reflected what the Sandwich actually was. A Philly cheesesteak is a very specific thing. So was told take-out order would be 35 min wait... it took almost 60 mins... for a couple of burgers and a hot sandwich. For $55 I was at least expecting knock out food... quite the opposite and for my pre- tip, I was at least hoping for faster service. My husband said it was a terrible sandwich and the kids said the burgers were meh, okay. And they were all hungry after a morning of skiing and waiting for the really late lunch.. Saving grace was all the staff I dealt with were super nice but I guess the kitchen was overloaded. But then, give us realistic wait times. I saw this poor family with young kids waiting for over 1 hour... a group of young ladies for just as long who were told twice that it would be just a few minutes.. they ended up leaving - hungry. I know it's busy during ski season, so that's why they got a 3 instead of 2. So my advice - plan accordingly - order 1 hour in advance at least and do take out. Don't expect the cost or the wait to reflect the food you will get, and you'll be fine. My mistake was having higher expectations from all the previous 5 star reviews. read more

We were with our two friends on our way to Jersey Mike's but I saw Mountain Munchies in the corner of my eye and suggested we try a new place. I do not regret that decision at all! We ordered the snow bunny on squaw bread and the big bear club which came on sourdough (my favorite). One, the sandwiches are big and two, absolutely delicious! Customer service is above and beyond as well. I had ordered onion rings as well but when we got to the lake is when I realized they were missing. I called the store, he immediately remembered who I was and even my name (it's not a common name). He not only had already refunded the onion rings, he even said to feel free to come back and the onion rings will be on him. Shared the Snow Forest sandwich on squaw bread with the hubs, with their FABULOUS onion rings for the win! It was sensational! I almost never order coffee in restaurants, but I wanted a warm drink. I ordered a 1/2 Caffeine coffee and it was so smooth and full bodied, yum! Best meal all week. Our waiter told us Snow Forest and Reuben are his personal favorites. We will do the Reuben next time. Initially I wanted to get a cup of chili (what they say they're known for) and a garden salad, but unfortunately the chili was not gluten/dairy free. (But from other reviews it sounds like a hit!) I decided on the deluxe mountain hi salad with grilled chicken. It was a little funny as it seemed to be all the burger toppings arranged as a salad. However, I didn't expect anything fancy knowing this was more of a diner vibe. Overall the salad did the job and I enjoyed a fresher lunch with lots of veggies.
