    Lomo Saltado Plate
    Francisco C.

Best Peruvian food I've ever had. We had such a great experience at Mouthful Eatery! The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. We ordered the Lomo Saltado plate, which came topped with egg and avocado, and it was incredible. The beef was tender, the flavors were rich and savory, and everything blended together perfectly. You can tell a lot of care goes into the seasoning and preparation because every bite was super flavorful. For dessert, we had the count flan, and wow... it was the perfect way to end the meal. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Warning, the habanero sauce is hella spicy. I couldn't stop sweeting (Just stick to the jalapeño sauce that they give you. I like spicy so I also got the habanero sauce, my goodness!! Overall, the food was very flavorful, satisfying, and well prepared. If you're in Ventura County and craving something delicious, this spot is definitely worth checking out. We'll definitely be back!

Stopped by here because I really wanted a refreshing hydrating and homemade drink. Mouthful lemonades popped in my mind and we decided for a spur of the moment trip. We got the pineapple lemonade and classic lemonade . They were both FANTASTIC! Perfectly flavored and sweetened with the nicest staff recommending the different flavors. The store is clean, cute, upbeat, colorful and full of its own special uniqueness. They even had a board with lots of fresh daily specials. We decided to try a side of the Mac and cheese and man that did NOT disappoint! Even better than recent steak house Mac and cheese's we've had. We will be back and can't wait to try some more of their menu items and homemade desserts. Support local and homemade!

Absolutely amazing balsamic glazed salmon. My husband and I both ordered this dish and both were moist, beautifully plated, and we were very thankful that we could switch it up and added their mashed potatoes to the dish with no upcharge. The edamame bean were lightly sprinkled upon it. Our only suggestion is that there really did need to be more of a vegetable or more edamame beans. The wine only comes in cans, and that's not my speed. Also, the cans are fairly expensive for the quantity. So I switched it up and ordered their TAP IPA beer. It was all good and served promptly! This is our third repeat visit to this wonderful establishment. Our dinner evening was on wednesday evening which is their trivia night. It was funWe've done it twice. And frankly, the gentleman hosting is lovely but the mic is a little glitchy and way too loud for such a small room. We went with another couple, and all four of us had our ears ringing upon departure. I think we're going to skip wednesday night next time.

Lomo Saltado and a Pineapple Sangria.

My family and I just tried this restaurant today. We had Lomo Saltado and a bowl with chicken, green salad, rice and Quinoa. I had a Sangria made with white wine and roasted pineapple juice. It was delicious! If you like Peruvian food I would suggest this place. You could also go there for sandwiches and bowls. There are other items on the menu besides Peruvian food, Mac and Cheese for example.

The moment I walked into Mouthful Eatery, the aroma alone had me excited to dig in -- and the food definitely delivered. I ordered the sweet potato fries and a chicken rice bowl with avocado and a fried egg. The fries were thick, crisp, and naturally sweet, while the rice bowl was packed with fresh ingredients that all worked perfectly together. The aioli tied everything together with just the right kick. What stood out most was how fresh everything tasted. The food came out quickly, but it never felt rushed or low quality -- more like a fast, casual spot with an elevated touch. Definitely can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

From left to right: Crispy Pork (Carnitas) bowl, alfajores (4pc), and small Mac and Cheese

Small Mac and Cheese: 3/5. Wished it was creamier, cheesier, and more savory, but I did enjoy the portobello cracklins, which were a unique add-in. Crispy Pork (Carnitas) bowl with rice: 5/5. Very comforting meal that was so easy to eat. Delicious crisped carnitas went well with the guac, pickled red onions, and crema. Peruvian Ceviche: 5/5. Tasty and refreshing. The cubed rockfish was definitely the star in this dish. The light-colored sauce also paired nicely with the corn and sweet potato. Alfajores (4pc): 4/5. Not too crumbly or sweet, had a good cookie-to-filling ratio. I feel like alfajores in general are always pricey, and these weren't an exception, but I'm glad I still tried them haha. Service/atmosphere: 5/5. Fast-casual with indoor and outdoor seating available. Has a tiny parking lot located behind the restaurant. The food came out relatively quick but still tasted fresh. Complimentary cucumber water was a pleasant surprise. The staff's welcoming demeanor and comprehensive explanation of the menu were much appreciated. We could tell that they were passionate about the food they serve. Prices are decent for the quality, taste, and portions of their dishes.

Went here during a tennis tournament due to the good reviews. Fabulous food! We had a group of 7 and everyone loved it. I got the chicken saltado and added Gouda cheese, egg and avocado. It was fabulous. The fried artichokes and cucumber mint lemonade were also fantastic. Wonderful service; wonderful atmosphere. Street parking in front; on the side and parking lot in the rear.

Very good food and nice ambiance. Cool decor of flowers being in beer bottles. Service was also great. My mom quote thinks "the bathrooms are good and the server has tact" this is referring to her saying we will be back and the server saying "you better" but in a friendly way. She was friendly in other ways too in that she made small talk with my sibling and parents. The pictures are bad because we already ate them. They were very pretty coming out of the kitchen. My dad also liked the bathroom he said the employees must wash hands sign was very big and he appreciated it. He then proceeded to tell 2 jokes involving those signs and my sister told a story as well. My mom replaced a toilet roll in the bathroom also. (Important information she told me) Overall very cool very nice. Also my mom had a Peruvian beer which she said was good and my sister a pineapple lemonade which I tasted and can confirm is good if you happen to like sweet fruit tasting drinks. Epic times B)

I haven't had this place for over a decade and decided to try it out again with my family, and I was definitely not disappointed!! each dish had lots of flavor to the meat and the quality of the food was fresh. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the yucca fries, which were so crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. And the sauce that came with it was so yummy. I definitely will be coming back here again!

Delicious flavor in every bite! I got the chicken Saltado bowl and my husband got the chicken saltado plate. We both added fried egg on top. The house aioli that was drizzled over my dish was amazing.

Conejo Valley's Hidden Gem!! This Handcrafted Peruvian Eatery is located near the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Theatre!! Great for lunch, dinner, catering and special events! The inviting and cozy ambiance with the friendly staff makes this a definite go-to spot!! We tried their Aji de galling, which is a creamy, spicy chicken stew. Definitely worth trying!! I can see why it's a customer favorite!! The ultimate comfort food!! The slow roasted and succulent Pork Belly was topped with a sunny side egg. The freshness of the edamame and sambal sweet chili sauce helps to cut through the richness of pork belly. The Yucca Frita was crispy on the outside and soft inside. So addictive! The crisp green beans were perfectly cooked! Don't miss out on the scrumptious Alfajores! They are melt-in-your-mouth, buttery and sweet! Wonderful customer service from Javier and Maurino!!

Great locally owned spot !The space is so colorful and vibrant. Since leaving the East Coast , I've missed Peruvian food . I had been wanting to stop by. I ordered the Lomo Saltado. It was tasty however it bit salty and the rice was a bit too mushy for me. The sauces were good. Great customer service. Staff is very attentive. The have salads, sandwiches and so much more. Plenty of parking too.

    Vday menu: special event

I have been wanting to go back to this restaurant for some time now. My first experience was amazing! It was great to meet the key individuals who make this restaurant a success when I first visited this establishment. So I wanted to see if my experience was as good as the first time I visited this restaurant! As for food- this restaurant has an amazing menu of fresh foods to compliment anybody's taste ranging from chicken, pork to vegetarian dishes. You can get platters, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and more. They even have small petit sandwiches for ten dollars. Plus the restaurant offers limited alcoholic drinks. I got a bowl with pork belly that came with rice, pickled cucumbers, carrots, egg and more. The flavors were all wonderful in the bowl- but reviewing the pictures from my past experience, I noticed a significant size reduction in my bowl. And this dishes was a bit up there in price-19 dollars. The other bowls were about 15 dollars. Despite the price, as the flavors were amazing, I would come back for more! Since I visited the restaurant, some time ago, I have noticed that they are offering a lot of events. The upcoming event is for Vday dinner where its a multi course meal with jazz music for 100 dollars- I hope they dressed up the place with white table cloths as its a cafe not an upscale restaurant. I am sure the food will be wonderful and extra special for vday! Please come and support independent restaurants!

I've found myself feeling disappointed with hospitality lately--it seems like genuine, friendly service has become harder to find--but that was absolutely not the case here. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. I had the taco salad, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best taco salad I've ever had. I also love the variety of food, all of the healthy options, and the fact that it's dog-friendly. Such a great experience all around. We will definitely be back!

My family and I came to Neighborly, it being recommended to me and close by in the area. I know…read morethat they're known for their array of options and a wide variety of food to choose from. I was nervous, though, going into this, because it reminded me of the nearby Topanga Social with a similar concept. After less than a year, the Topanga Social is closing due to one of the reasons being that a ghost kitchen doesn't cater, and therefore, have the expertise, to one certain food type or style. Unfortunately, that's exactly what this ended up being. When we entered, it was an untraditional restaurant experience as you go to a tablet/ screen area and choose from one of the six or so "restaurants" that they have to choose from. In theory, this is super cool! However, certain foods are good because a lot of the times, the people making them worked on perfecting that dish for you and others. Additionally, when you don't have a hostess and/ or server, there's an extra level of relationship building with the customer that you now don't get. People can manage, but it's the customer service that sometimes can make or break a business. This restaurant used to be Social Monk, until they decided to add the five or so other, now essentially, ghost kitchens that all operate under that same old Social Monk roof. Once we paid and finished ordering on the screen, we sat down and waited for our food. The seating area was a bit cramped inside, but expanded to outside which was nice. Inside, they had little tubs of candy around the store for purchase. There's also a fountain and a gelato store nearby, which is great for families looking to make more of their day. The positives? The area is nice. The literal neighbors, like the gelato place next door, are great! The speed in which we got our food was good, too, as well as the variety of options of food that they have available. My food came as a bigger portion size than what I was expecting, so I could hypothetically get maybe two meals out of it. The negatives? The prices aren't the prettiest, like mine coming at $18 (but keep in mind the portioning.) Additionally, when we got our food, it truly was not good. My chicken and chow mein came together on a big plate, however the chicken was cooollllddddd. The noodles were okay and warm, actually, although the chicken had been cold. Bland. Not great. My sister got chicken tenders and fries in which were also incredibly bland and not worth eating even half of. I brought my food back to the counter area where they had registers not in use and asked a worker if I could get a refund. They got a manager, who asked if I wanted them to heat it up, but at that point, I felt so defeated and annoyed, especially for almost $20 worth of food and the last thing I wanted was for it to be heated up in a microwave. Maybe this wasn't their day? Westlake doesn't have much variety, so having options like this is nice and I can see why so many people find them appealing - it's just not good food. A lot of the older people who look like they love eating saltines and rice cakes come here and it's easy to see why. Unfortunately, my sister and I did not like their food due to it being cold, bland, and unseasoned, and we most likely won't be coming back.

The website said 10-20min for pickup, so I thought that was perfect timing, as I was 20min away. To my horror, the system automatically put my order 55min out because I had "more than just 2 sandwiches", even though there was no one in line at the restaurant or anyone waiting to pick up an order, when I got there. Why? Well, they blamed it on "3rd party system" and the manager (Zaen?) would not even budge to start making my order right away and could only give it to me 35min later. Again, there was no one waiting in line and they could have easily started making it right away. This extremely rude manager tells me that even if I cancelled my order (which he wasn't even concerned about), and then placed a new one at the counter, they would still take more than 30min for a few sandwiches. Never have I come across such an inconsiderate manager at a place that's known to be considerate and welcoming. Thankfully for me, the other manager (Alec?), was so much nicer and instead of ignoring me like the other guy, he tried to help by fast tracking my order and guess what, it was done in less than 7min. All of it. Did they make anybody wait because of me? Nope! I've been going to Mendocino Farms for over a decade across so many different locations, and this was my first visit to this particular store. And because of this one manager (Zaen?), it ruined my entire outlook for this popular brand. How does the General Manager and the overall franchise operations team even hire such a terrible person, who was just indifferent to losing a customer that had placed an order of over $150??? PS: the online ordering system also defaulted to a $20 tip that you couldn't change. I wish I could get that money back or at least direct it all to the nicer manager.

When we asked our server, "What would you recommend?" the response was, verbatim, "Just get anything," followed by a point toward the menu. That pretty much summed up the service experience. That said, the restaurant itself has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is pleasant, the space is thoughtfully designed, and it's clear the owners invested considerable time, money, and care into building the place. You can genuinely see the effort behind the restaurant. And that's what makes the service more disappointing. A restaurant can have a beautiful space and solid food, but hospitality is what turns a transaction into an experience. Basic attentiveness, eye contact, genuine recommendations, and making guests feel welcome shouldn't be asking too much. The restaurant will likely continue to do well because the concept, location, and atmosphere are strong. But if the owners invested the same level of care into the guest experience that they clearly invested into the physical restaurant, it could be significantly better. Tried the food, and not gonna lie, the Dutch Bay is amazing. Definitely a must try! Good restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Hospitality, however, needs work.

I got the Carmelized Garlic Steak Bowl. Carmelized Garlic Steak - The portion was HUGE and I was so full after eating 1/2. It came with a complimentary slice of sourdough too! I loved the sweet potatoes, and the texture of the wild rice was great too. There was a generous portion of steak and it tasted sooo good with the pesto vinaigrette sauce. Basically the perfect meal with great macros as well! Overall, I love Sweetgreen and will definitely come here again!

It was an unusually hot and very busy day, and it was great to see the restaurant so full and thriving. I especially want to recognize the cashiers, Sammy and Jerry, who were excellent. They were patient, friendly, and handled the busy crowd with great customer service. Sammy, in particular, deserves recognition for being so kind and professional. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing toward the end of our visit. We had leftovers, including our salad and sandwiches, and had also purchased a four-pack of IPA to go. I asked for a brown handled bag because the plastic bag provided wasn't adequate for everything we were taking home. I was surprised when someone behind the kitchen, who I was told was Alonzo, instructed Sammy to give me a plastic bag instead. I could tell Sammy felt embarrassed and uncomfortable about the situation, and I felt bad for putting her in that position. My concern isn't with Sammy at all--she was wonderful. It's about the message being sent to customers. When someone is spending money at your restaurant, especially when they're purchasing food and beverages to take home, customer service should come first. Board & Brew, please recognize Sammy for her excellent customer service. She handled a busy, hot day with patience and professionalism. And Alonzo, remember that taking care of the customer should always be the priority. We'll definitely continue coming back because we love the food, but I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Thank you!

I arrived a little early since she was limited on time, so I went ahead and ordered everything for us. I let our waitress know my friend was on a tight schedule, and she was so accommodating and made sure everything was timed perfectly so the food would come out once my friend arrived. I ordered the quinoa salad for my friend and the Greek salad for myself. We also shared the hummus and one ground beef kabob. Everything was very flavorful, fresh, and delicious. We really enjoyed everything we tried. The restaurant itself is extremely cute, bright, and inviting. When I first arrived, there was only one other person there, but by the time we were finished, every table except one was full--which definitely says something! The person who helped us was incredibly friendly and made the whole experience even better. This definitely sounds like a place we'll be coming back to!

QUICK TAKE Get: Shish Kabob, Ground Beef Kabob, Creamy Cucumber Dip Skip: The salad dressing Know: Order a dip or sauce with your meal. Both of ours really needed one. Shish Kabob: Our favorite item. If you are choosing between the meats, this is the one I would recommend first. Ground Beef Kabob: Also very good and worth ordering. It came with a generous amount of basmati rice and a charbroiled tomato. Lava Special Salad with Shish Kabob: The salad had romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, avocado, raisins and walnuts. It was good, but the meat made the meal. Without the Shish Kabob, the salad would have felt underwhelming. Creamy Cucumber Dip: Basically essential. We were very happy we ordered it because neither entrée came with much moisture or sauce of its own. My only real complaint was the homemade salad dressing. The oil tasted old, which was noticeable enough to take away from an otherwise fresh salad. Overall, we really liked Lava Kitchen and would gladly return for the kabobs. The Shish Kabob is the move, and do yourself a favor by adding the cucumber dip.
