We were looking for a bar to grab some food and a few beers and decided "Moxie's Bar" would be good. Actually, the reason we picked this is because a character on one of our favorite British TV comedy/drama shows, 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet', is called Moxie. Anyway, I felt rather under dressed in my shorts but what the heck. Dinner looks like it was going from a plate of cheese fries and a bucket of wings to something a little more upscale. Alexa D, our server, was attentive throughout the evening and looked after us well. My wife had an avocado gimlet that she said was really good but then came the food. I ordered the chicken Madeira rigatoni which was spot on. Chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. My wife went with the Scottish salmon which looked huge, certainly a generous portion. For dessert we split the flourless chocolate cake. Wasn't sure about the mint ice cream but they went really well together. Only downside was that it seems to have a while for orders to get from the bar to the table. I'd like to come back and a few other things a try or maybe just hang out in the bar area. Overall, a little faster on the drinks and this would be a solid 4.5 star review. We made a B-line for this place because of the Poutine and it did not disappoint. It was very cheesy and the gravy was super tasty. The Chef brought us the Poutine and chatted with us for a little bit even asking our names for when we return. We split the loaded hamburger and I can't say enough how good the layers of flavors tasted. We also had a Bloody Mary and Jalapeño Margarita which were delicious. Rice was not fully cooked, the few veggies on the plate were oily & salty. The chicken was warm & chewy (like twice baked). Last comment is we got to watch some wait staff play a little grab ass. Great vibe, we sat in the bar to watch college football. Will come back soon! I also snapped a photo of one of the employees, the guy in the gray coat, not sure if he's a manager or what but he was constantly checking on all the tables and helping clear plates. I can't review anything but the service because we did not eat. We sat there for at least ten minutes before someone came to get our drink orders. My friend ordered a vodka pineapple short and a water, and I asked for water with a straw. The man came back with our waters and our straws were in his bare hands, unwrapped, and he reached over to put them down in our waters. Then the young lady brought a tall drink to my friend, and she reminded her that she ordered a short. She walked to the bar, poured the tall into the short class, and came back to the table with what was essentially pineapple juice from the top of the previous drink. My friend declined to drink it. When the male server returned, I heard him say he was new so I tried to delicately and politely tell him that we would prefer straws be wrapped or brought to us in napkins instead of in the palm of his bare hand. He walked around in circles with the waters, went behind our booth, and returned with "new waters"....he never switched them lol. At this point, we decided to leave and dine elsewhere. It's a great atmosphere. Nice decor. Love that you have an outside patio. My second time there and the food is pretty good. I had the Salmon, which itself wasn't rich in seasoning but they paired it nicely with the rice and grains which was great! The vegetables were good and seasoned well. Stayed at the hotel attached to the bar so I thought I would try it. They have a nice bar ser up with alot of TV's. The service was great and they had alot of people working. We ordered the guacamole and it was pretty good. The drinks , A old Fashoned and BlackBerry Mule were about 12 bucks a piece. This restaurant is beautiful and I bet it would be so much fun for happy hour. It seems like a great spot for drinks, appetizers or dessert. We had the hard lemonade and wine with the potstickers and that was all great. The entrees were just ok and really expensive! We would probably not be back for a dinner date here but we would come back for a before or after date stop. I had the Scottish Salmon and it was just ok and slightly undercooked. The hubs had the steak frites and he did not enjoy it. He also had the broccoli cheese soup and said that was ok. I will say the flourless chocolate cake was AMAZING. I asked for it with vanilla ice cream instead of the mint chocolate chip gelato it's supposed to come with. I would order that cake again and again and you should too! Looked at the brunch menu online and decided to try it out. Nice atmosphere. The menu online is not the menu they actually have. There are very few choices on the menu for brunch. What really raised the red flags was the when we ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice for $5 and they served us condensed juice out of can, then made an excuse that they ran out of some things. I had specifically asked them if it was fresh squeezed orange juice and she said yes before serving me some canned junk. The thing that bothered me about this the most is that if they are going to blatantly lie about something as simple as orange juice then there's no way you can trust that they are serving the quality of ingredients that they say they are. The manager did come over after they were caught and said that she would cover the cost of the orange juice and offered us their lunch menu. We promptly got up and left and now this restaurant is off the list. read more

I came here the other night with some colleagues after a stressful day on the job. We sat in the lounge and ordered some Brussel sprouts after our server Brooklyn recommended them. They were cooked to absolute perfection. Personally I am not a fan of Brussels but will definitely order them again here. My colleagues love Brussel sprouts and said these were the best they have had. The service was exceptional, Brooklyn was always checking in on us ensuring we were comfortable. 10/10 made the stressful day on the job better, we will definitely be back. I have been twice to their downtown location. I am thrilled they have opened a Plano location now. The atmosphere is vibrant, hip and upscale. Decor is modern with a happening bar scene. Great place to watch a game. Food and service are excellent!! Menu also includes some exotic dishes. Don't miss the cauliflower appetizer. I took one star away coz the music is too loud in the dining area. Hard to have a normal conversation. Highly recommend the Madera chicken pasta dish too, especially if you ask them to spice it up. read more

Walked in with a reservation on Saturday at 7:30, but they would only sit my wife and I at a table for six. We asked for one of the open tables, but were told those were reserved and not available to us. I thought I had a reservation too? Drove by Moxie's when we were in town for a conference and thought we'd give it a spin for dinner. First, the place is beautiful! Obviously, they paid a lot of attention to detail, even down to the restrooms. Definitely Instagram-worthy, if you're into that sort of thing, and the kind of restaurant I enjoy visiting. The wine list is fantastic, containing some of my favorites that I never see on a menu by the glass. The food was good, too. Love that there are options for many types of eaters/diet styles. The service/ambiance, however, was lacking. We went on a Monday night so football was on in the bar. Great! No biggie...except that there is no solid wall between the bar and the dining room, and it was SO LOUD! Initially, there was music on in the dining room, but after a man eating in there solo (who was obviously a regular based on his banter with the waitress and ability to call the shots) complained that he couldn't hear the game from his table, the music went off and the game ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RESTAURANT was turned way up! Obnoxiously up! There were three of us sitting in our booth and we could hardly hear each other. When one of us asked the waitress if it was going to stay that loud the whole time, she chuckled and said, "Yes, it's Monday Night." Yep, football's important, but Moxie's is not a sports bar, and no one should have to yell over each other to have a conversation. Our waitress also mocked my friend when she asked a question about something (uncommon) on the menu. She sighed and said my friend was the "10th person that day to ask what that is!" Honey, if ten people that day has to ask what it was, perhaps you shouldn't be so condescending and the menu should spell it out. I don't know what that means, but there was no follow up from a manager to discuss anything with us, which seems like it might have been a good time for them to take the opportunity to get some feedback. Staying at Sandman hotel and ordered carryout from Moxie's. Received food with items missing. Called Moxies and asked if they could bring missing items to our room as it was their mistake. She tells us she doesn't have anyone that can deliver. I Walk back over to Moxies and she tells us the missing items were not included in our order but we could pay for them if we'd like. I pull up the menu to prove her wrong. She gives us the missing items with no apology. Not to mention they charged me $5 for a Coke while waiting on them to fix an order they messed up. I get back to the hotel and see her delivering food to another room. Customer Service is lacking these days. read more

I recently visited a Moxies for the first time in the Southlake location. So when I was in Plano I decided it was a must to try a second location. I ordered the same thing on the menu, my husband ordered Salmon. This was a different experience altogether. Southlake was incredible this was not! From staff to presentation to flavor was a major step down in quality. Southlake's roasted butternut squash was actually roasted and seasoned Plano's was cold and undercooked, Salmon which we were told was prepared medium rare was well done, everything was poorly plated compared to Southlake. Steak Bites were over sauced and the dipping sauces were nothing like the other location. Oh and the appetizer, the calamari was super greasy. I saw the management at Southlake constantly scanning the room, but never saw management at all and this on a Sunday at 12:45. I should have suspected exactly what we got due to the 2/3 empty restaurant during the lunch hour. 3 appetizers,1 entree and I side of butternut squash $125.00. Was on our way to one of our favorite restaurants when we drove past Moxies and decided to try it out. Parking is a bit spares but of course there's plenty of valet parking if you want to pay for it. To start off it is very loud. The music makes it very difficult to talk to each other. They are playing at a dance club level. The lighting is also very bright. We are not accustomed to bars that have that much light. They could definitely dim it down a little. The service is OK. It's not lacking but it's also not great. For an area that has so many bars and restaurants, it could come across a little more personal to stand out. The drinks are really good. My wife had the strawberry ghost pepper margarita and she really enjoyed it. She's not much of a margarita person either. The food is her strongest point. Very good mix of flavor and the heat is perfect. We had the spicy tuna roll and the calamari. Both were excellent. However the tuna doesn't really look like a tuna roll but it was still good. My star rating really reflects the ambience. So it's worth trying. read more

Never received anything I didn't like. While the staff of friendly, it always seems like there aren't enough staff members working. Terrible experience. Avoid this restaurant. There's too many better restaurants in the area to warrant giving this one your business. First off, I arrived and there was no one at the hostess table, but a group of employees pow-wowing at a nearby booth. I wait about 5 minutes (with a reservation) for a hostess to come over and finally get seated. We came for happy hour, and were provided no happy hour menus. We ask our server about happy hour, it takes about 15 minutes for him to "check" if they have happy hour (it's very clearly listed on the restaurant's website..), and bring us the happy hour menu. We order drinks and 2 apps from the happy hour menu. Receive our drinks but no food. After 45 minutes with no food, we're finally told there's an issue with one of the apps we order, and the manager will come speak to us about it. We find out one of the apps we ordered isn't available - why it took 45 minutes to find this out, is beyond me. The manager tells us he will comp us a regular app for free to make up for it. Fine, totally works for us. We order a second round of drinks - nope, they're out of this drink. So we order a different one instead. Also fine. We finally receive our food. Server would disappear for about 15-20 minutes on end. We debated having another drink but at this point we were done. Abysmal operations and abysmal service. When we receive our check, the wrong app is comped - our server comped the happy hour (aka cheaper app), instead of the app the manager told us would be comped. Honestly just laughable. I feel bad for the nice young lady who waited on us last night . The only thing I can guess is that she hasn't been trained by management. We saw other tables having the same crappy experience as us . The manager offered us a free app , free shots and a free dessert which I can appreciate but not enough to come back here to eat dinner. I will say that the Lettuce Wraps and Burger were both really good and the Key Lime Pie was possibly the best I've ever had . I am staying at the Sandman Hotel which they say is Four Star, but I would say barely a Three. This restaurant is supposed to be the hotel restaurant but it is such a crazy environment. It is like being in a club with music blaring. But let's get to the food. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was a brittle piece of chicken that was just covered with thick batter. I believe they trying to play this place off as upscale,but don't believe it. I ordered is beer and it came out slightly cold. The hotel should really evaluate if it wants this place attached to their brand. Those 4 stars are not going to last long. read more
