This is the 3rd time back to Mr. BBQ in Fullerton after always being deterred by the infamous long wait--but waitlist helped ALOT this time. Mr BBQ AYCE is located kiddie corner to Paris Baguette and Yoshinoya Express. Located near the college area, this place stays packed for good reasons in the weekends. The AYCE Korean BBQ here is very good, with a great variety of meats (everything from pork belly to marinated short ribs), mussels, scallops and a generous lineup of sides to keep your mouth smiling and interesting creative "mayo seaweed salad". Shoutout to our amazing servers, Claire and Thomas--they were super friendly, attentive, and kept the grill flowing without missing a beat. We got extra 2nd servings of free ices creams. Loved how they acknowledged birthdays here--it's loud, festive sparklers, and adds to the fun, lively vibe of the place. My husband and I are Mr BBQ regulars and have been here at least 20+ times. Everything is always delicious and prices are reasonable, especially for the quality. I normally don't write a review just for a restaurant's food in general, however our server tonight was the best server we've had here. Her name was Kimberly and she was quick, super friendly, made great recommendations, and was by to check on us just the right amount. I couldn't imagine after being here so many times there would be anything different to try, but her recommendation for lemon with the spicy tofu soup "no tofu", rice on the side instead was by far one of their hidden gems! My family and I love this spot! It's a bit of drive for us but it's so worth it. We come here with just the four of us or sometimes a big group for birthday celebration. They do great birthday celebrations here- so highly recommend if you want a fun surprise for that special person. The meat quality is always great and my kids really enjoy this spot. They have great ban chan and amazing tofu soup! My daughter loves their cold noodles here too- not a lot of kbbq spots serve cold noodles, so happy they have that here. The service is always great and they're all super friendly. I would say highly attentive even where they're busy! I come often with my family to eat at Mr. BBQ. My youngest son loves to eat Korean BBQ. The parking is a struggle since it is a small plaza. Normally there is a long wait list. My family and I usually ordered from the premium menu. We get the rib eye steak,new york steak, scallop, brisket and pork belly. The steaks were very tender and delicious. Most Korean BBQ don't have scallops on the menu and this is one of the better Korean BBQ l been to. The service is good but sometimes it's a little slow. Such a cool spot in Fullerton! Even entering in, the design was cool to look at. They have merch near the host. It smells so good coming into the store. Jose was our server and he was just the sweetest. He was funny and conversational and attentive to our table despite it gradually becoming busy. He gave us complimentary ice cream at the end, which I believe is given to every customer that comes in to dine there. We got the strawberry cheesecake flavor. I've been trying to go here for YEARS but the wait is always just so gnarly. We came around 7pm on a Tuesday night and there was still about a 15-20 minute wait for 3 people. Parking kinda sucks but if you're lucky you might get a spot in their tiny lot that they share with another restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of banchan they had and I've never had cold noodles offered at an ayce Kbbq before! So refreshing paired with their greasy meats! Our server was cool and he even made a secret sauce for us that was so yummy! I did feel like the quality of the meats were decent at its price point but not the best I've had. They send sparklers to your table if it's your bday! I think we witnessed like 4-5 bdays that night. v cute! This was a great experience. Came for my sister's bday and our waiter was AMAZING! I believe his name was Brandon. I tipped him allot because his level of service exceeded our expectations. If you come ask for him to have the ultimate experience. Anywho, beautiful ambiance. People complain about the music being too loud but I didn't really hear it over all the loud talking around us. I would have preferred for it to be a bit louder. But yes, enjoy your food while listening to r&b music. You will have a 2hr eating limit but believe me.... Restaurant is huge, lively and music is always pumping you up even if you're super hangry you know you'll be satisfied. We all went with the $39.99 all-you-can-eat menu and ordered plenty of brisket and pork belly. The table came loaded with a wide variety of banchan, which was a great start. Dipping sauces were pretty standard for Korean BBQ. Our server took our initial order but went on break without letting us know, so we had to flag another server. It wasn't ideal. We had a couple of grill changes and also tried the marinated bulgogi, which was decent. To wrap things up, they brought out complimentary ice cream, which hit the spot. However if you're expecting a nice and quiet sit down restaurant to catch up with friends/family or impress a first date, I would not come here. So to start, this place gets packed. The wait times especially on weekends can get up to around 2-3 hours. Definitely plan ahead and join that waitlist before you even think about getting hungry. Parking in the parking lot out front can be difficult. There is residential parking a block away though and its worth it to walk off all that food. Pros: * fantastic selection for premium all you can eat * beef belly, brisket, galbi were high quality * house special dipping sauce is so addicting. Its spicy, vinegary and full of umami flavor. It goes great with all the non-marinated meats. * banchan selection and quality here is superior. The potato salad, fish cake, mac salad, and jap chae were all very memorable * service was great all around. Jeremiah was our server and he was so attentive and down to earth * fun atmosphere for celebrating birthdays/special occasions Cons: * Loud music makes it really hard to have meaningful conversations * Restrooms could be cleaner and maintained more frequently. It looked like a night club restroom on a busy Sunday night. * Corn cheese was the saltiest thing i've ever put in my mouth. I had to spit it out immediately * free icecream at the end was overly sweet and tasted like storebought dollar tree icecream. For the price point and selection, I would rather opt for their PAYCE menu if you are more of a beef/pork person. The non-ayce option had too much seafood that we just didn't care for.
