I'm not one of those people that know much about cars, just like a lot of other people. I normally just take one recommendation of what auto repair shops tell me and have them fix it. I normally give in because majority of the time they make me feel like it's absolutely necessary to get A,B, and C fixed. With that being said, I took my car in for an oil change and was told that I needed to get both of my rotors and brake pads fixed. I was quoted between $700-$800 to get those fixed. To give them them the benefit of the doubt, that particular shop didn't make me feel like my car was in dire need of getting everything replaced. So I put that auto repair work on hold at the time only because of the time constraint I was dealing with. I decided to "shop around" and get another opinion. I reached out to other companies and were given estimated quotes on the same repair that were recommended to me. I wasn't too convinced to try much of them. Not yet at least. I came across Mr.Brakes while on my searching quest and requested an estimated price quote. I got a reply from Mark with a $383.75 price quote and was offered an appointment slot for two days later (a Saturday afternoon) which was awesome. My car was beginning to sound like metal on metal grinding not just when I would brake but also when I'd drive normally. People would definitely know I'm around if I'm reversing or backing into a parking space because it was THAT annoyingly loud. I got to Mr.Brakes for my appointment and was immediately greeted by a kind man at the front desk. They took my car in right away. They inspected it and came back into the store to tell me that all I needed to do was fix my front pads and my rotors were pretty brand new (which I knew because I just had them changed within the last couple years so it wasn't making sense that the other auto shop was telling me I needed to replace them). So, it was significantly less than what I almost ended up paying at the other shop. With my car's year, make, and model (not too sure if that makes a difference for brake pads) it only costed me $196.21 to solve my problem. These guys are honest guys and very nice people. I appreciate that they were genuine and didn't try to take advantage of the "situation." If you want honest people delivering great customer service doing quality work at a great price then I highly recommend checking out Mr.Brakes for your car repair needs. Update on my car: the squeak is non-existent and my car rides a lot smoother now. I'm glad my car doesn't sound irritating anymore. Thank you everyone at Mr.Brakes. I originally took my car to another well know shop for a brake inspection & was quoted close to $1300 for front and rear brakes (for a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe sport - nothing special). When I questioned the other shop as to WHY the rotors needed replacing when the car only has 51,000 miles they gave me some spiel about "cars not being made the same as they used to" & it supposedly needed rotors too. Complete BS!! Mark was super honest, told me my car only needed front pads (same thing my Dad told me) -$240 total & still have a good 50% wear on the rear brakes. Believe the hype/reviews of Mr. Brake. I have a 2013 Mini Cooper Paceman S the light came up for front brakes at 77K miles. I called around a few other independent shops to get an estimate on front brakes, rotors, brake sensor and labor, and this was the least expensive, doesn't mean least service. I called on a Tuesday and a Saturday appointment was available, lucky me, at 8 am. I showed up a bit before 8 am, and the paper work was waiting for me confirming the information given over the phone. No clicking of keyboard keys waiting around. Hand over the keys and off it goes. It looks like there might be at most 4 dudes working the service bay and counter. it has a great entrepreneur feel. After putting it on a lift to take a look at the situation, I was told front and rear needs to be placed, along with the sensors. I asked if the rotors needed to be replaced or resurfaced, I was told they were good. Integrity, the rotor service could have been sold to me. I was told 1.25 hours to complete the service, and it was dead on. I was also told that the brakes would feel different, and they did. I would have turned around if not told about this. Mark was verbally abusive, disrespectful, extremely UNprofessional! At first, I was thrilled to find a brake shop faster and less expensive than the dealer. (I need brakes more frequently than average, and can give a lot of referrals, so business potential with me was strong.) BUT after I'd left the shop the first time, trouble began. The brakes didn't feel right. Something was definitely wrong. And it grew worse over time. Now, let me first say: 1. I am female, and 2. I have 45 years of experience in driving and owning cars. I KNOW when something's wrong with the brakes. And I'm not an idiot. So a few weeks after the brake job, I made another appointment, brought the car back and explained the issue to Mark. I simply asked that they be CHECKED. I wasn't accusatory or angry, just friendly. (And on the phone when I was making this appointment, Mark had challenged me, "You ARE aware there's an x-quantity-miles breaking-in period, aren't you?!? Have you driven that much yet?!?" His somewhat-aggressive challenge and distrust that I could accurately perceive a problem stunned me, but that mileage+ had indeed elapsed with the issue only growing worse, which I told him on arrival to the appointment.) At the shop, Mark's initial reaction was somewhat reluctant and disbelieving. He *sternly lectured me* (as if to a child) that if it wasn't the brakes they had done, they'd have to charge me for work. Mark seemed moody while my car was checked. He switched back and forth from "nice." BUT THEN, while I was waiting, after some friendly discussion, he suddenly became EXTREMELY verbally aggressive toward me! He DEMANDED that I follow him to a display of the brake system in the waiting area, shouting at me, "Come here!!! I want to show you - come here!!! COME HERE!!!" His tone was like a parent shouting at a naughty child. I felt shocked and HUMILIATED at being shouted-at that way. I didn't want to follow him and tried to stay where I was. But he kept gesturing and LOUDLY DEMANDING that I go over there. Then he "explained" the brake workings to me and kept shouting at me, "So they are SAFE! They are SAFE! The brakes are SAFE!!!" (I'd never questioned whether they were "safe." But something *was* wrong with them.) His hostile, berating tone of voice, his lecturing-shouting at me, and the *obvious* aggression with which he treated me is difficult to describe. A customer should NEVER experience this! I felt completely degraded and shocked at being treated with such disrespect and abuse. (And the behavior was, indeed, verbally abusive. Abuse is not just about violence, overt insults, etc.) After this, there were some internal conversations between Mark, the staff and him ordering parts on the phone - there was an issue with having gotten the wrong brake pads for my vehicle. Twice. Then he said to me, "Third time's the charm!" as they were replacing the pads again. Mark attempted to apologize for his behavior. He said his blood sugar was low and he hadn't eaten lunch yet. He then said, pointing back and forth between us, "You and me are good. We're good." (However, HIM saying "we were good" did not make ME okay with it! *I* was NOT 'good!' It was shockingly inappropriate treatment of a customer. And his 'apology' attempt meant he KNEW it was wrong. And low blood sugar is no excuse for abuse.) So it sounded like they may have put the wrong pads on my car in the first place - which was why the brakes had felt wrong to me. In any case, after they were replaced, it was much better. ALSO: While I was there, Mark addressed every MALE customer as "Mr. Lastname." But he addressed me and the other female customer by our *first* names. This shows an innate difference in respect for males vs. females. Different standards of respect for females vs. males is unacceptable. His behavior was shocking. This experience was actually *traumatizing* to me. As a result, I will pay more and take more time to go where I will NOT be treated abusively. There is NO excuse. It's astonishingly WRONG to behave this way. Don't assume a woman can't know there's something wrong with her brakes. Don't demand and LECTURE her, shout at her defensively "the brakes are safe!!!" as if she's 'criticizing' you for asking to have work re-checked that isn't working properly. And - I believe I wouldn't have been treated like this if I were male. There *was* something wrong, or else it wouldn't have been fixed by this visit! NEVER did I *deserve* to be shouted at, lectured, berated, humiliated, degraded, or treated like a stupid idiot naughty child 'finding fault where there was none.' I was RIGHT, something was amiss, and even if not, NO customer - especially a female customer - deserves to be treated this way! It was INEXCUSABLE and UNACCEPTABLE. Despite what other reviewers experienced - for some reason, Mark felt it was okay to treat ME this way. It was a horrible experience, shocking and unacceptable beyond description. read more

I won't be coming back here. After calling around to several brake shops around the valley, and reading dozens of reviews, I decided to bring my car to Mr. Brake to have them replaced. The work was fast, the customer service was great, and the brakes seemed solid - or so I thought. A week into using the new brakes and the squeaking came back. I called Mr. Brake and he told me to give it a few more weeks to see if it persisted. A few weeks later and the squeaking was still going strong. I made an appointment with Mr. Brake and got the brakes replaced. Quick work and genuine customer service - until it happened again. A week into driving the car and the squeaking came right back. I called, drove on them for a few more weeks like he said, went back, had them replaced AGAIN, and hoped it would be the last time. Sadly, the brakes started squeaking again after a week of driving. They replaced the brakes for a third time at their shop and the exact same thing happened. What a waste of time, gas, and money. I've been driving on the brakes for a few months now and I the awful squeaking still hasn't gone away. If this review were based solely on customer service, it would probably be 5-Stars. The customer service you receive from Mr. Brake is actually genuine. Unfortunately, this is about the parts and brakes used. The fact that three new sets of brakes had the same issue, which couldn't be resolved by a company that operates SOLELY on brakes, is the reason I won't be going back to Mr. Brake and the reason you should save yourself money and look elsewhere. I went in for a free brake inspection, my appointment was at 9am and they immediately brought my car into the bay. I was brought out to look at my brakes as Mark explained the suggested work and what could be causing my brakes to be making a grinding noise. He explained everything honestly and thoroughly, did not try to upcharge me, at the end of the day I paid $35 to have my brakes adjusted and the drums cleaned up. I was given the option to upgrade my brake pads to pads he prefers to use, but he explained that it also was not necessary. My brakes feel way better after the readjustment and cleaning, and the grinding noise stopped. Stand up guy, stand up business, I'll be back for any other brake related concerns. read more

So I had some brakes that were grinding and sounding just awful. I decided to take a break at work and give them a call just to see if they were even going to be open during my lunch hour I called them. They said they wouldn't have any time available so then I told him I would have to just come another time which he then said, you know what let me actually take a look at the car just bring it down and we'll see what we can do for you. I had been told by another shop as well as some friends that I needed new rear brake pads and likely rotors due to the screeching/grinding sound they were making. Called around for quotes and Mr. Brake had the cheapest, so I made an appointment. I was helped by Mark, he and the entire crew were awesome. They were very honest and let me know that my brakes were completely fine, the sounds were coming from my ABS. They saved me a good $400 that another, less honest shop may not have, which was greatly appreciated. I needed to change my front struts and get my brake rotors done. I went to other mechanics to shop around. I went to Goodyear, because it's close to where I live and get an estimate how much I'll be paying. They pretended to give me a "good deal" of $910 for just the front struts. Not counting the brake rotors that would be more than a $1,000! So I went to look around more to compare prices. I happened to find Mr. Brakes on my map. I called and talked to Mark and get an estimate over the phone. He told me it would cost me $640 for the struts and $89 for the rotors. That's still a lot of money for a guy like me, but if you compare it other mechanics on town, there's a huge difference in prices! I scheduled an appointment because they're appointment only, no walk-ins. Which is good coz there's no waiting in line. Went there the next day. The office is small. Only four chairs inside. But it's comfy and quiet. And there's a donut place next to them to grab some coffee and donuts while you wait. Mark and his mechanics are great. They know what they are doing. I waited for about 2-3hrs. Which is okay compared to others. I'll attach a picture of my reciept from Mr. Brake vs Goodyear. As you can see Goodyear are charging $299 for each strut, while Mr. Brake are charging $165 for each. The labor at Goodyear are $110 each, while Mr. Brake is only $85 each. They are maybe the best brake place in town. Mark is awesome. I trust him and his boys. If you needed a brake job or shocks done, I absolutely recommend this place! read more
