A decent spot right in the middle of the Hollywood Walk of Fame area. It feels that this place is a bit past its prime and is a bit aged. The space is definitely a vibe though and good for big groups. The food is pretty safe and standard but compared with the other options for Mexican food this one falls a bit short. However, if you happen to be in the area it's cool for the vibe and grabbing a drink. If you're looking for a food experience, I'd pass.

We wanted to grab a margarita for Cinco De Mayo and saw that they were having a few specials - margaritas $5, tequila shots $5. But normally they have happy hour all day from the opening to 6pm daily and Mon-Thur, they also have a late night happy our from 9-12am During the week day afternoon, it's pretty empty but I'm sure the evenings get much busier. The restaurant is HUGE and I love the decor. Even the long hall way walk down towards the restroom was beautiful. So vibrant. All our servers were fantastic - the hostess was adorable and sweet. The restaurant was empty so we got great service. Drinks were whatever. The margaritas were super sweet. I had the regular margarita which wasn't as sweet as my friends strawberry margarita but I wasn't a fan. They had taco specials and we enjoyed the chicken and beef but the pork wasn't all that great. The restaurant is a 5 min walk from the Ovation closer to Hollywood and Highland. I would definitely stop back if I'm in the area again.

Really awful experience here on all accounts. The one family bathroom here is filthy, with urine all over the toilet bowl. The water took two to three reminders and about fifteen minutes to arrive. The fish tacos arrived first and was entirely cold and my friend completely finished her tacos 15 minutes before my bone marrow tacos even came out. The staff here are super inefficient, and for a space that was 70% empty, should not have struggled with their tables. One waitress kept coming up with excuses as to why our items were late (she gave our waters to another table instead of just telling them they were for us, and that she'd fetch theirs later; the bone marrow tacos just take longer). The male server was the only one who thought to ask us if we needed anything, and also brought extra napkins. Definitely would not recommend coming back on service alone, extremely slow and inattentive. Food was mediocre and nothing to write home about.

This is an inviting and beautiful restaurant right on Hollywood Bvld. Walking inside you instantly put behind you the crush of bodies outside on the Hollywood Walk. The server was friendly, informative, and quick. All of our food came quickly. Our kids had quesadillas and hamburgers with fries. The fries were awesome! We got the dirty fries and the pork belly bites. Delicious! My wife loved the Aguachile. Worth the stop if you are on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

I'm back and I wish I had a better experience. We were charged a $3 fee for this size of "extra sauce" I had ranch and my gf had spicy mayo Then when I said..oh! We didn't know, you should tell us it's an extra charge.. he..Manny said, it's happy hour and you are complaining? Wow! Umm it's principle and HH doesn't mean we get extra charged IMO Again, you have to advocate for yourself They also charged extra on the HH margarita without saying And we specifically asked

Came here with my fiancé and his coworkers before going to a comedy show at Dolby theatre. They have happy hour from open to 6pm. They also have two menus (food and drink menu) which both have many options to choose from. We were lucky to get the metered street parking but I will say there is not much street parking available as it's in a busy area. My fiancé and I started off with the hot Cheeto fries and the dirty fries. I haven't had hot Cheetos in a long time so I really enjoyed my fries. They were really good for a starter. Next my fiancé and I ordered a strawberry margarita and an old fashioned. Both drinks were delicious, old fashioned drinks usually taste really strong for me but his had a really good flavor. For our meal I got the fajitas with chicken and steak. The fajitas had a lot of juice on them and was a different flavor than I'm used to but really good. The chicken especially was so tasty. The steak pieces though were honestly really tiny, I almost thought they forgot to include the double meat. I'd say maybe make the chunks bigger like the chicken. I also enjoyed the rice and the little bits of cheese in the guac. I will say though that the beans were too salty for me. I didn't end up finishing them. My fiancé got the bone marrow burger (I think that's the name) and he looked like he enjoyed his meal. The plate itself had a nice presentation. Overall a nice little spot, depending on what you order it can get pricey. The happy hour deal was worth it though, we both got two drinks each. I think the fajitas were worth the price as well. Fries were also a great appetizer. I'd definitely come back for the happy hour deal!

i reeaally like tempo cantina, my favorite spot is the one located in the Santa Monica area. So when i saw that they had one in the Hollywood area my friend and i decided to come here since we were in the area. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated at a table. our waitress was really nice and attentive. We were able to order our drinks first thing and tempo is one of the places that has the best drinks! i love the margarita flights, it's so good! After we placed our order to eat, while we were having our conversation waiting for our food, we kept getting interrupted by random sellers coming into the restaurant offering their products for us to buy or to take pictures. i understand it's a hustle, but getting interrupted 3x was starting to annoy me. that was the only negative thing I'd have to say. once our food arrived, it smelled and looked really good. my friend and i both got ourselves some tacos. i always get their birria tacos they are so good and fulfilling! we didn't wait that long for our food and besides the interruptions, we had a good time.

Hardly anyone in here and yet they took forever to take our order .Glass smelled dirty .Food is just okay nothing that stood out Nice presentation but not very tasty. Waitress was cordial.

The sauce helped bring some juiciness back and balanced it out. The bluefin tuna bibimbap was pretty enjoyable. The tuna tasted fresh and the textures worked well together, but the dish could have used a little more seasoning to make the flavors pop. The perilla was a great touch though. It added a slightly minty flavor that complemented the tuna without taking over the dish. The beef short rib was easily the standout. PERFECTLY cooked, incredibly tender, and seasoned just right. The richness of the meat paired so well with the lettuce wraps that it almost feels like they should automatically come with the dish. Service was good and everything came out smoothly. We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported somewhere else. Every room is thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is immersive and unlike anything we've experienced before. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.
