Wings, fried mushrooms and pizza are all delicious!! Great prices also. I order from them consistently. Never any issues.

I had a big problem with the delivery of my pizza. the pizza was cold the mushroom or deep fried mushrooms were more like mushroom bites and the ravioli snot homemade they just buy them from restaurant supply I'm pretty sure they were all so cold. I sent my son out with $36 for a large pizza ravioli and mushrooms and then the delivery driver knocked on my door again and said that my son tried to cheat him out of $1 and he was never coming back to my place again I told him that the order was for $33 and I left him a $3 tip but he still kept insisting I was trying to cheat him out of a dollar so I told him I go no it's 33 so we went back to the car to get a receipt that was on a Post-It note I he came back and said that you're right it's only $33 but I had to drive 20 miles and I'll never come back again because I only gave him a $4 or $3 tip I informed him that was only six point three miles to my house and that I agreed with him I would give him another dollar and he's still complaining about having to drive so far saying it was 20 miles not sex while after arguing with a delivery driver and being surly aggravated and everything is Stone Cold now I called the manager at the store he gave me no consolation or offered no fix for everything being called in his driver being rude I would never order from this place again however I might stop in to the restaurant cuz the pizza was good after I microwaved it read more

We eat a lot of pizza! Came here after my wife had some of their pizza at work. This is one of the best pizzas I have ever had! It was also some of the friendliest staff! They were so nice a d the pizza so good!! All in a cozy local neighborhood setting. Will definitely be going back!! read more

My name is Diana and I am a pizza junkie. That being said, this is the place I go to feed my addiction. Mr. X is amazing. I'm led to believe it's a Bosnian establishment, and they're doing a bang-up job as far as I'm concerned. I would guesstimate that Mr. X pizza finds me two to three times a week. I go over to a friend's house, "Oh, you're just in time for Mr. X," or I come home from work "We just ordered two large pizzas from Mr. X. You like Hawaiian, right?" I'm not complaining. Everyone should be so lucky to have pizza communists for friends and roommates. Plus, the pizza is always hot and they deliver basically all over. They're located on Morganford but deliver as far as Cherokee St. Their hand-tossed crust is chewy, cornmeal-y and amazing. The cheese is quality, and most importantly, it's cheap as hell. A large two topping pizza is $12.95, and delivery is free! I can't say enough good things about this place. Give up your Papa John's and chain pizza joint habit and try Mr. X. And it's Provel-free for the anti-Imo's set (I will never understand you people). read more

I am always on the hunt for good pizza. Like most people, I love it, plus it's a simple meal and I usually have leftovers for an easy work lunch the next day. I had driven by Mr. X on numerous occasions and my curiosity was piqued by the interesting name and great location. I placed an order one night on my way home from work for a pizza and a house salad with house dressing. When I got there to pick it up, I was surprised to see that it's a nice bar inside, not just a typical pizza joint that mostly does delivery and takeout with the dining area just being an afterthought. I would totally hang here for a beer and a meal. There was a good crowd, and the folks taking care of me were nice. Once home, we opened the salad first, and were disappointed. Limp iceberg lettuce, unripe tomatoes, shredded provel, and a few red onions made for a sad presentation. Plus their "house" dressing is bottled ranch! Good thing we always have fresh veggies and great salad dressings at home, so we were able to fix it up a bit and make it much better. We dove into the pizza, and it looked great. Bubbly, brown cheese and a thoroughly cooked crust are a must for me with pizza. Not burnt, of course, but no barely melted cheese and doughy crust for me, please! The pie tasted as good as it looked, too. Generous ingredients and a good sauce completed the mix of flavors with the toasty cheese and crispy thin crust. We really enjoyed it, and the leftovers were great the next day. This is a nice spot for a quick and convenient meal. Not sure I would go for a salad again, but the pizza sure is tasty! read more

it's study week, stuck at school and the thought of shoveling down another jimmy john's sandwich is simply revolting. i'd rather roll the dice with a place i've never heard of. mr. x was a nice surprise, had a thin crust veggie pizza that i ordered off their website. it was convenient except they ended up calling me since they didn't know exactly how to get to my school. the driver got a little lost, but it gets a little confusing with directions to the back alley closest to my study room so it's alright. pizza was tasty, hit the spot. i'm realizing that i didn't get a choice between thick or thin crust because my crust was definitely not "chewy, cornmeal-y and amazing" as diana b. said her's was. but it was good and pretty damn cheap and for a delivery pizza, really hit the spot. read more

The pizza was tough and tasted worse than frozen. It was very dry even with asking for extra sauce and they skimp on the toppings. two pieces of green pepper on the whole large pizza? Get a frozen pizza instead. It took an hour and a half on a weeknight for delivery. I would never order from here again. read more

I am a little picky and a little hard to deal with if you are a restauranteur, especially a pizza restauranteur. ('Cause I know pizza and am always suspicious that a pizza place is just in buisness to sling the ingredients at the lowest common denominator. And I know I could do a better pizza at home with Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee). But I have to give Mr. X high marks for everything. First, service. I don't know if the place is Bosnian or not because I got delivery and didn't go to the shop. But if they are, they have certainly glommed on to American-style high-level customer service. I've called there three times to clarify the menu and pricing and the woman on the phone has been most courteous. And the delivery guy was too. I thought he's be mad because he had to go way out of his zipcode, but he wasn't. He was a total gentleman. And he must have driven like a bat out of hell because the pizza was still piping hot. Now about the PIZZA!!! (finally). It was delicious. The cheese was super tasty and the four ingredients all very fresh. And they do one thing I've never seen done before: on a two-topping pizza, they put one ingredient under the cheese and one over the cheese. It really works to make the bite ... smoother! I would highly recommend the place. Plus, I need to get a big party together sometime and try their 30-inch pizza (the biggest in St. Louis I believe). read more

I ordered a pizza and toasted for delivery from Mr. X about a week ago. The t ravs were decent enough, but nothing special or unique about them. The pizza smelled great, but that was about as much as I can say went well with it. I ordered a hand tossed crust and some sort of deluxe toppings... I can't recall what it was. It tasted good on first bite, but I soon found that on almost every slice of the pizza the crust varied from extremely thin to thick, still doughy patches. Raw pizza dough is not a good feature for a pizza to have. This was disappointing after reading other positive reviews of the hand tossed crust. I had to stop eating it. The place itself: My family and I ventured into Mr. X on a Saturday night about 5:45 PM. We had an Amazon.com local deal that I purchased on the strength of some of the review on the site. We walked in to find a dilapidated bar area, with a few people sitting around, and a barmaid that didn't seem to know what to do with us. She was very nice, but almost seemed hesitant about the deal, telling us that it wasn't good for specials; we had to order over $20; and only eat in, as if this was somehow going to dissuade us. So, not an auspicious start, but hey - we're willing to roll with it. She motioned over to the dining room, where we were the only customers; on a Saturday night in St. Louis?! Wow. As several others have mentioned, the decor/state of the place has seen better days. Didn't realize this was the original Guidos - now it makes sense; the long ledges in the bar were for tapas! The dining room was less than clean; we watched a trail of ants trying to establish a colony on the floor on the other side of the narrow room, but we'd already ordered, so figured we would see how the pizza was. Also - no air on in the room for the first 15 minutes we were there; so we sat there sweating until someone must have heard us talking about it, so turned it on. Old basic chairs, and rickety tables that were not level did not enhance the dining experience, too. My husband's comment: this was kind of like camping indoors. My reply: no, because I would have made sure to bring proper utensils and salt/pepper if we were camping! The actual food: The salad was large and quite good; the pizza was the same. Pizza had thin, hand tossed crust that was really good. Mozzarella, too - no Provel, which is a bit of a novelty on the south side. No salt and pepper on the table, though, for the salad. Additionally, the barmaid who waited on us brought us only one set of plates, so had to try to negotiate the pizza slices around the ranch dressing left by the salad; awkward. Finally, no serving utensil provided with the salad made it difficult to get on the plate. Summary - I'm giving this 3 stars because the food was quite good, and the place has potential. However, given the state of the dining room, not sure I'd like to see the kitchen. We've eaten in our fair share of dives; not every restaurant needs to be the Taj Mahal. However, cleanliness is a must in a restaurant. The whole place needs a good scrub down. read more

My wife and I have made the usual rotation of pizza options around STL. All the big chains and a lot of the small local places as well. We first started eating Mr. X when a bunch of us would order the big one. We really liked it and decided to order a couple of the specialty pizzas. They don't deliver to our home so they meet me at a QT station which is great. We've been really happy with the pizza, tons of toppings, great flavors, good people. They have a really good product and they are now my go to spot for Sunday Pizza. read more

I have to be honest and say we didn't like this place at all. We were the only customers eating on the dining room side. We felt uncomfortable. It was a weird vibe. When we got our pizza it looked good. When we tasted it, it wasn't good. There wasn't enough sauce on either my meatlovers nor on the bf's margarita pizza. The crust tasted like a thawed out pre made generic crust. There was nothing at all special about the pizza or the ambiance. We are still searching for our favorite pizza place, in the meantime we'll make some trader joes frozen pizzas, which are better then this place. read more

The pizza and jalapeno poppers were delicious.... up until I found FOUR pieces of METAL SHAVINGS in ONE BITE of the pizza. They were very apologetic about it and it was hopefully an isolated incident, but eat at your own risk and chew carefully! read more

Good handtossed crust. Good toppings. Sauce is good but I will ask for extra next time.

Mr. X has amazing flavor and overall a pretty friendly staff. The wait time for carry out is on average about 20 minutes, which is way better than a 45 minute wait at chain pizzerias. I get the hand-tossed crust comparable to traditional NY style pizza, and has excellent flavor and texture! read more

Not impressive. Service is weak and people do not seem happy for your business. Food is also OK at best.

Ordered sandwiches online, sandwiches contained ham and bacon in them. I called and asked to return those sandwiches as I do not eat pork. I even offered to pay the difference. The staff was extremely rude and basically said if you cannot read it is not their fault. You would expect the customer service to be a lot better than this. Quaint pizza place. Pleasant staff, quick service. First time here. Ordered the Mr X thin crust. The toppings are generous however I found the sauce flavor and amount lacking. Do yourself a favor and just say no. Had takeout last week. The appetizer sampler platter. The jalapeno poppers and fried mushrooms were passable. The mozzarella sticks were just empty shells...all the cheese had run out and was likely still in their oil somewhere. The toasted ravioli were inedible. The were so overcooked and hard, you could easily have broken a tooth. The pizza was not even as good as a frozen Totino's from your own oven. We had a cheese pizza and a cheeseburger pizza. Crust was soggy and yet still managed to be chewy. If I am being honest, the food was shockingly bad. I would have been ashamed to serve this. Not to be repeated. read more

My husband and I have been ordering from here the past few months... After discovering Mr. X, we fell in love. I ordered a pizza tonight and they totally botched the order. Did not put Pepperoni on the pizza (which is my favorite) and they put black olives on entire pizza after I requested they only put on half. I also ordered a 2 liter coke and a 2 liter sprite was delivered... Not sure I'll be spending the $30 on this meal again.
