Not long after moving to Stamford, this place became a favorite! The bar area has a better atmosphere than the dining area, in my opinion, and there's outdoor seating. I've tried a couple different menu items, as has my boyfriend, and we have always been pleased with our meals (especially fish and chips!). They also have a really impressive brunch menu. This one really breaks my heart,...because I like this place,...but they charged me six dollars for a Guinness blonde that's supposed to be $4. And the price was plastered everywhere because it was On st paddys day I uploaded the picture so you guys can see, My first order was an Irish coffee and he put up his hands, like he doesn't know what I'm talking about and then he walked away and took some one else's order! Went here for brunch the first time and I am really skeeved out. I think that if restaurants here were required to post letter grades of their sanitary compliance this place would not pass. I found several hairs in my food and the whole place smells like a damp basement. Even the bathroom is cringe worthy. This place would probably be fine for drinks but I would never eat here again. read more

This rating is solely based on their Brunch as that's the only time I go there. Their breakfast burger is still the best burger I've ever had! They also have great drinks for brunch. Awesome dive bar spot for the locals in the area. This place had a great vibe compared to some of the stuffy expensive bars in Stamford. The bartender was quick and polite. The outdoor patio has a ping pong table and a couple little games to keep you busy while enjoying drinks. We did not eat here but my friends got a burger and a quesadilla which both looked very good and they both seemed to enjoy their meals. I love this place! Have been coming for years! Went on a Saturday afternoon for a beer and burger. Bartender was great. Customers at the bar were clearly drunk at 1230 and vaping and laughing at the sign on the door that said "no vaping". They dropped the f bomb every 2 seconds and made rude remarks about women and minorities. Very sad. Quickly paid my tab and left. read more

Went here for a big unplanned family dinner a few weeks ago with a bunch of us and they were so accomodating! We had the whole back room to ourselves. Every one of us had a delicious meal! Their burgers are delicious and the potpie is really amazing (and HUGE), baked there on the spot. read more

Yesterday I went with friends to Murphy's Townhouse cafe. We ordered a few drinks and food. We liked the food. We paid the bill with a Decent TIP to the lady who served us. This was my first time and liked the place. My friends and I were discussing to frequently visit this pub to hangout. But this thought changed after this staff guy(Bald and beard with black t- shirt) followed us to parking lot and asking DID YOU GUYS PAY TIP. First thing is he didn't serve us and also didn't check our BIll, where we did add a decent tip. I hope Murphy's owner/management take action to train this guy on basic things like how to talk or behave with customers and not chase to parking lot and asking for TIP. I would definitely not go there again as it seems quite dangerous to get followed. read more

Really solid neighborhood joint. Just came back from brunch and Murphy's did not disappoint. We were a party of 5 and the bill came out to less than $80. A steal for the quality of food you get. Officially the cheapest beer in the city. It's around $3 a pint for the basics which is safely a bought half that for the rest of this silly city. The Chick (also cheap around $8) on the menu is by far the best, always the same, and delicious. You almost cant go wrong with most anything on the specials. The place hs one bartender and one cook. Can't beat the simplicity. It seems like a rough place when walking in but don't judge too quickly. This is quickly becoming our go to spot for a good and cheap meal or drinks out. read more

I am giving this place 3 stars due to the service. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and just one table outside, one table inside and two people at the bar. When I came in the bartender gave us two waters. Maybe 20 min later she asked us what we wanted to eat, during those 20 min new customers arrived and were being helped. We ordered order of chilli cheese fries the grilled Buffalo wings and two burgers. The burgers are just OK not anything special. The chili cheese fries were OK as well the spices to it overpowered everything else. The wings were really good and we would come back just for ghat only. This place is decent if you want one server to take care of everything and have time to kill. Only thing the server was quick was when we asked for the check. Everyone is friendly here but service was not that great. Oh yeah we weren't even given a bag for the food that we packed to go. So 3 stars goes down to 2 read more

A great hometown bar/restaurant. Friendly staff, great food and prices. I really enjoy a menu with plenty of low/no carb options...Murphy's exceeded most local places. The grilled buffalo wings and Cajun grilled chicken fingers are delicious. They even made me a hotdog with chili in a bowl covered in cheese. The regular hotdog plate, with chips and a pickle @ $4.25 has been quoted to be the best in town by some locals. They have recently moved the kitchen/grill away from the bar area and added a full kitchen. I hear the menu will be growing. There is plenty of outdoor seating and they even have a fire pit for the winter months. I will be back! read more
