I decided to order out for dinner and pick it up on the way home from work. I saw on on google, the online ordering. I tried to order online, but that didn't work. So I called the number and the number went to a voicemail. So I drove to the place. I walked in and no other customers were waiting. I placed an order. They said the order would take 20 mins. I didn't say anything about how the order online didn't work and when I called no one answered. It was inconvenient, but I eventually got my order in. I did see a business card off to the side of the counter. It was ordering online card with a QR code on it. I guess that is how people order online. They need to put that on the website or something. Who would know about that unless someone was told about it. I waited in the lobby for my order. It was about 20 mins. The bag had a support card board to hold up the containers of food better. I liked that. That was very clever of them and good customer service. This made the plastic bag more stable. I order Beef chow fun, pork congee with preserved egg, and chicken fried rice with salty fish. Everything looked good and hot. The chow fun tasted fresh and the beef was very tender. The congee was super hot, the way I like it. I don't like having just warm congee. It just doesn't sit right with me being warm. It has to be steaming hot. The congee had good flavor and the pork was very tender with flavor. The fried was was good too. The first bite tasted bland. They didn't add any seasoning to it. The second bite, I got some salty fish with it. It was salty. I get it why they didn't add seasoning to the fried rice. The salty fish is salty enough. So it evens out. read more

Now that I've had the chance to try more of their dishes, I thought it would be a good time to update my review. I think this is one of those places where you really have to know how to order. Some dishes can be hit or miss and some just really unexpected if you haven't tried a lot of cantonese dishes before. They made some updates to their menu since my last review and added some weekly and daily deals. They also added some special dishes listed on white boards on the walls of the restaurant, which really gives it a more authentic HK feel. I now have two clear current favorite dishes and I would definitely recommend them both if you haven't tried them yet! The first is the Braised Tofu & Fish Clay Pot, which I highly suggest eating there (for dine in) as it comes piping hot in a clay pot. The second is the Mixed Vegetables Egg Foo Young dish. I have been tempted to try one of the other meat egg foo young dishes, but I really love how the veggies and flavors complement the delicate white fish in the Tofu & Fish Clay Pot dish. I also HAVE to note that the sauce of the egg foo young dish is INSANELY good. It's so good over rice and I love mixing it with the fish and tofu pieces. I would definitely recommend getting both of these dishes together! (especially if you don't know what to order) This is peak comfort food for me and I crave it on a weekly basis ^_^' read more

Love the option to order online BUT.., Always have issues . Other day ordered beef fillet with black pepper sauce a $20.95 dish price . I got a fish with black bean sauce. Was upset and called to see the price difference . Fish plate was $15.35 or $15.95 before tax they said. Wow! So I got ripped off by $5-$6( which is a drink ) I could have ordered. They need to get there systems corrected. Food is okay not bad . So this is what we ordered. . shrimp rice noodle , texture is soft and fresh, I love the texture, just that the soy sauce is lacking in flavor. The soy sauce doesn't make me want to keep on eating. I like the soy sauce stronger and sweet like I want a whole bowl of soy sauce just to dip and sip but it didnt give me that vibe. Price is reasonable though which I liked. . Porridge , bland and is on the healthy side. Basically I had to add flavor to it myself. Just the base of the porridge is plain like no salt and just rice and water cooked together only. If you know you know. . Braised beef won ton soup , braised beef is missing a whole lot of spices (like wheres the star anise ? 5 spice? Miso? You know how beef stew is. ). The won ton texture is good. The pork and shrimp inside won ton was a generous amount. The won ton was a good size. It was good. The soup is flavorless, it's like sprinkle some soy to make it brown looking. But where's the flavor? I'm like one sip and I'm like nah I'm cool. Noodles is just ok. Not worth 17 bucks. . Sizzling black pepper Lamb, -the lamb is tender, flavor is good. But the dish was not sizzling. It was a little to wet and moist. We prefer dryer side and more burnt with complex flavor. hk style wok flavor. . Overall the food is bland and needs flavor no one bite makes me want to repeat another bite . It was just meh. Nothing was memorable. Maybe will just come back for rice noodle if i do come with friends. The food is not bad, like nasty it was just on the healthy side. I had high hopes for N'Joy. It ticked a lot of the boxes when checking out a new chinese restaurant. It had a nice looking chinese kitchen with the duck and chicken hanging and big round chopping block with metal shield. There was a white board with chinese writing. The place was clean and spacious and the staff spoke cantonese. Unfortunately when the food came out that box did not get ticked. I tried the roast duck over rice and the duck was just ok, and couldn't hold a candle to some of the south sac joints. Didn't have a lot of flavor and the skin was not crispy. I also sampled the wonton noodle soup with brisket and was sorely disappointed by the soup, which should be the foundation of any wonton mein. The wontons didn't have that authentic flavor but wasn't terrible. The noodles actually were ok, and had a snappiness as it should. Prices are high and when you compare to the taste the value proposition wasn't quite there. I figured out the mission of N'Joy though, it serves up cantonese style food if you live in Elk Grove and want something close and convenient, and not that concerned about taste and value. Love bringing my parents here as we can get relatively authentic dishes here. Our family is also from the "canton" area. It's nice that it is in our area! I will put one star down as my mom found a piece of plastic either a glove or something in our food once while dining in. We let the waiter know more to bring awareness of the issue and they chose to ignore us. They did not even apologize which threw us off. All we wanted was them to acknowledge what had happened. We still come here despite that one experience. All our other experience with staff has been pleasant besides that one time. We love ordering the roast duck here! read more

This is our go-to Chinese restaurant with legitimate Cantonese-style food. Even my picky Chinese parents from SF approve, and they're hard to please! The food has been consistently good since they've been open. Everything from their porridge, roast duck, soup noodles, spare ribs, rice roll, fried rice, etc. are delicious. The only place where you can buy roast duck in the area. Service can be hit or miss sometimes- they've taken orders from other tables when we arrived first. read more

Our family had the idea to try N'Joy for dinner. We weren't sure if we would like it or not because the venue seemed like an Americanized version of Chinese food - like Panda Express. Been curious about this place since I passed by it every weekend when I stopped by Costco. Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon to order takeout for lunch and it was a stressful experience. Location: The place was tucked away in a corner adjacent to Crumbl in a small parking lot next to Costco Gas. If there's a long line of cars waiting for gas, you might have to wait a bit to get out of the parking lot. Inside the restaurant, the line was unclear between dine-in and take out and online order. Order Experience: There was a sign as well as business cards that said "scan QR code to order online for 5% off". Tried it, but came up with the same price as regular online and in store menu. Also, restaurant menu prices were wrong. When I placed the order, prices were actually higher by about a dollar for some of the items. I brought it up with the girl taking my order and asked if the restaurant menu is wrong and she said, "I guess so". Very unhelpful and unprofessional. When I finally placed my order, I was told that it'll be a 30 mins wait. In the end, the actual wait was 50 mins. There were other customers waiting around for their orders the entire time and everyone was looking frustrated. From what I can hear, they have all waited close to an hour for their food as well. Food: As for the food, the portion is smaller than other Chinese cafe style restaurant and the taste is not exactly superior. N' Joy Cafe is the newest Chinese restaurant that just opened in the Costco shopping center in Elk Grove. I'm very excited to find out they're soft-opened. I have high expectations after a friend recommends. We're there on Friday evening at around 6:30 pm. The restaurant is pretty busy. Two parties are waiting for the tables in front of us. We are seated about 20 minutes later. Our waitress is super friendly. She has also helped recommend the foods still available in the restaurant. We were seated a little before 7 pm, and the restaurant was closed at 8 pm. She also came to check with us a few more times to refill our water and asked how is the food. The lovely lady does understand the importance of customer service. However, I hope that this is because they're soft opening at this time. The foods are not up to the level of their service! We have ordered a few dishes that I usually like in most Chinese restaurants. BBQ Pork, Rice Noodle Roll with Beef, Dry Braised String Bean in Spicy Sauce, Chow Mein with Bean Sprout & Soy Sauce, and Braised Chicken Clay Pot. BBQ Pork - this is the best of what we ordered. I wish it could be a little more fat. Rice Noodle Roll with Beef - the rice rolls taste okay if they can make it a little more presentable with a better soy sauce. Dry Braised String Bean in Spicy Sauce - I don't know is because the beans are not in the season. Some of the beans are very old or undercooked. But the taste is good. Chow Mein with Bean Sprout & Soy Sauce - the noodles are too soft and tasteless. Braised Chicken Clay Pot - tastes good, but I can't believe the amount of oil at the bottom. This should be an easy fix. N' Joy Cafe is a soft opening at this time. I hope they'll have a good improvement over time. We visited N'Joy Chinese Café couple months after their grand opening. The shop was neat and clean with new-style decoration. They advertised "Taste of Guang". Out of the six dishes we ordered, two were excellent, two were average, and two were poor. Both the basil popcorn chicken and tea-boiled eggs were great! The basil popcorn chicken was crispy, mild spicy, and it went well with beer. I highly recommend this dish! The tea eggs were colorful, flavorful, and warm. Their steamed beef vermicelli was not the authentic Guangzhou's or Hong Kong's practice. It was a bit like the vermicelli in Chaoshan, with bean sprouts added. The ground beef was over-steamed. It's far behind the steamed vermicelli served by Yinji, Berkeley, in terms of presentation, taste and value. The worst dish was braised beef brisket noodle soup. The noodles were too soft, the soup was too clear (with no taste), the brisket was too thin and chewy. It"s my understanding that the dish was not easy to make well, and the noodles were not a good match, either. I just appreciated the courage of the owner. We went on the day of soft opening. It was pretty chaotic. No one knows what to do but we were understanding. Waited longer, reminded our waiter of our orders. Wonton noodle soup was OK. Nothing special. The 2 choices BBQ item rice plate was ridiculous. I had at least 3 cups of rice but 4 pieces of BBQ pork and 4 pieces of chicken that looked like it had been ripped apart. Today we went back to get BBQ pork togo. Since this is the only place in Elk Grove to get it fresh. It was so SMALL! Way over-priced! It was not even half a pound for $9.95! It was 5.9oz to be exact. What a rip off. I also saw the man who cut BBQ pork items. No gloves, OK...that's fine but he took out his phone, used it and proceeded to cut more meat. I ordered and did take out the fish maw soup under reccomendation of the employee who worked there along with fried salt pepper pork and pork lo mien. The fish maw soup was bland and had no flavor it basically tasted like corn syrup was used along with egg i could not find any remanats of crab or fish in the soup. I complained about the soup after i got home and tried a bowl. I was offered a refund, remake the dish or to alter the dish with more flavoring. The employee told me he could refund after speaking to the owner the owner accused me of just intentionally complaining to get the meal for free. I was then offered to take it back so i got in my car started driving i livr around 15 minutes away later on as i was on my way there i was accused of altering and watering down the soup and they said they could not refund me or make me another soup. So basically they robbed me of $16 and accused me a fellow countrymen of trying to eat a free meal if i was wanting a free meal wouldnt i have complained about all the items not just one. This is really offensive attitude toward customers you cannot expect to grow a business if you accuse everyone who complains to be attacking your business or a beggar. Really wanted to like N'Joy Cafe a bit more and hope that it sticks around and gets better. Mom and pop spot in a Costco anchored center in EG. We stopped by for dinner recently and had a decent meal. Started with the beef cheung fun which was ok. Usually a brunch/lunch item, but wanted to try as rice noodle "crepes" are not easy to prepare. This one was ok, could have used a bit more filling and soy sauce. For entrees, we had the sweet and sour pork which was good and generous, The seafood clay pot was ok, but used a really dense tofu which was a little off. Usually has a fried softer tofu. Flavor was about right, but texture was off. The HK-style (thin pan fried noodles) tomato beef mein was good. The Singapore style noodles were ok, I was expecting thin rice noodles which is how it is usually served, but they used "chow fun" style rice noodles. It may have been better if they upped the current a little bit to compensate for the larger noodles. Like many places, they could have used another server in the dining area, but the staff was all working hard to keep up. We will try again since it's much closer than our usual spots on Freeport and in South Sac and hope it improves over time. read more

We were shopping at Costco Saturday morning and decided to check out this new restaurant with couple friends. It's located in the same building as Great Clips. According to the menu: "Soft open hours: 11am-8pm" Not sure if everyday. We arrived at 11:30 and waited about 10 mins to get seated. There was NO sign-in sheet to put the name down, just waited patiently by the entrance. Our friends arrived before us and the wait staff told them to just wait for the table and I didn't see any staff advising other customers what to do hence it could be quite confusing. The food was really just meh and I won't order any of them again in the future. - Rice noodle roll with shrimp: Not the freshest shrimp. - Rice noodle roll with meat: meat tasted like dough. - Chow fun Beef noodle: Greasy. - Rice plate with 2 bbq options: Very few pieces of chashu and roast duck.. - Braised beef brisket noodle soup: Chewy beef and bland soup. This place is very good for Asian cuisine and drinks. We ordered the Chow Fun and the Salt and Pepper Cod, as it was recommended by our server. She did not disappoint. Both dishes were very tasty, and enough to fill me and my girlfriend. We even had leftovers to take home. As for the drinks, I got the Mango Green Tea, and it was very good as well. SOFT OPENING REVIEW The service: Definitely needs to work out logistics. A lot of times things were sold out and not communicated down the chain. The flow of traffic behind the kitchen needs to be organized. Too much congestion behind the counter and not enough staff outside servicing the fine-in customers. The Food: The shrimp wonton noodle soup both and noodles were under seasoned and not enough soup to noodle portion (too less soup). The HK pan fried noodle with shredded pork was also under seasoned. The pork had no flavor and noodle was a little plain. For the price ($13) it's just a few bean sprouts, pork, and noodle... overpriced. Honey spare ribs chili sauce was good and crispy. Egg plant with pork was basically a version of the honey spared ribs mixed in. Egg plant was under seasoned. Deep fried squid was just calamari, it's good like what you'd order at boba shops. We had the regular boba milk tea and oolong milk tea, they were both delicious and would recommend the drinks. I hope they work out the food seasoning, but I think their main go-to dishes are the chow-fun and poultry/bbq dish over rice since most of those items were sold out. We will try this place again since Elk Grove does need a little cafe like this but we will be trying different things. Been wanting to try this place out. We placed a takeout order during the lunch rush. They were definitely busy for dine-in and takeout options. The cashier was very patient and friendly. We ordered 9 items and she gave us an approximate wait time of 20-30 mins, which I thought was really quick. It was actually done in less than 20 mins, which was very impressive. I feel like they are adequately staffed and their kitchen size can accommodate for their busyness. Now for the food, the rice noodle rolls, deep fried cod in spicy salt, chow fun & fried rice were my favorite. Maybe the only thing that was average for me was the basil popcorn chicken. The service was pretty good. Although the servers appeared to be rushed, even though the place was not crowded. The ambience is that what should be expected for a café. But when we ordered, we ordered the orange chicken, fried rice, chow mein, eggrolls, and crab Rangoon's. We ordered enough to take home to my family. The eggrolls were soggy, and the vegetables in them were very overcooked. The orange chicken was not orange chicken but they served chicken feet instead and tried to pass it off as orange chicken. Upon trying to eat it I got very dizzy. The chicken in the chow mein also did not look like chicken. After further inspection, we discovered it was pork. Do not go here because it's not worth the money. The only good thing about this place is the green tea and the water with lemon. Even the flavored teas that come with Boba were disgusting. I don't see how this place is still in business. I literally watched one of the kitchen employees go to the bathroom. You can hear the toilet flush and the water run because we heard other people go in the bathroom and use the bathroom and wash their hands, but this particular employee did not and I believe he was one of the cooks. But they will fool you on the foods that they serve passing them off as chicken breast or chicken thighs, but they're actually chicken feet. The roast ducks look pretty nice & crispy but kinda bland. I order an over rice and the cutting sucks, lol. Wonder if they cut the meat, then add the whole piece of skin back on the top or what. Weird. The beef chow fun is actually good, not oily like some other places I tried. The drinks are not bad, good to have one if you plan to dine-in. N'Joy Cafe is located right across the lot from Costco. Came here on a Wednesday late afternoon and was seated right away. Service was very friendly and quick. I ordered off the lunch special menu which runs until 4 pm. The Rice noodle with shrimp tasted just as delicious as any other dim sum place. The wonton noodle soup reminded me a lot of my childhood. The noodles are your standard egg noodles but the wontons taste fresh and homemade. The soup was just as delicious as it was very light and clean. Milk tea did not come with boba but it was perfect for my taste and not overly sweet. I left satisfied and not overly full.
