Just because the name says Philly or fried chicken ITS NOT THAT. I don't like that the names of these meals are also very deceiving. The Mac and cheese does not taste like your normal Mac and cheese, the cornbread is not that good, the lemonade is good. I don't like that none of the straws come in wrapping, SO BRING YOUR OWN STRAW FOR SANITARY PURPOSES. Tee went to this place after one of the worst flights ever. We were hangry and a bit irritable (at least I was.) We order off the touch screen a bit rushed. After seeing this vegan restaurant reviewed on Check Please AZ (a local TV show), my friends and I decided to try it out for lunch. We were willing to overlook the fact that service was a little slow because only one person was working. And the decor was a bit spartan, but that wasn't the reason we were there. The names on the menu were clever and we wanted to share some of the dishes so we ordered Wangz and Fries, Twisted corn, and mac & cheese. When the food arrived we became a little more disappointed with each bite. The Mac & Cheese was warm and tasty, but fairly average. The Wangz turned out to be cauliflower florettes, heavily battered and deep-fried. The sweet barbecue sauce they were served with was flavorful. The fries were previously frozen (leaving them mealy and tasteless) and were dusted with a coating that was colorful but had zero taste - not even salt. The Twisted corn was so bad it shocked us. It was corn-on-the-cob, heavily breaded, deep fried, and drizzled with something that looked like sour cream...SERVED COLD. How can a restaurant serve deep-fried food cold? I saw Nona's, looked at my husband and told him we should go here for lunch. We ordered the soul food plate, wings, and hood rolls. The hood rolls are like little pieces of heaven, literally so good I didn't even try the sauce it came with. Cauliflower wings we're probably the best I've ever had, the cauliflower still has a slight crunch to it which is what sets these apart. Wow! This place is amazing its has the best vegan soul food I have ever tried! For starters I got the soul plate with ribs. The ribs were cooked so well and the sauce was perfect. I was really excited to learn that they would finally be a vegan soul food restaurant in the area. Although there are a lot of vegan options in the valley, there is a major gap as a relates to vegan soul food. After spending over a decade in the south before moving to Arizona, I've experienced some of the best southern Vegan soul food from fried chicken To ribs, to mac & cheese and greens. I came with this anticipation to the opening of Nanas kitchen where I waited over an hour for my meal while other people were fed. We brought it to the attention of the staff and still waited another 20 minutes. We were told next time would be better. After such a heavy delay, we wanted to be ravenous, and devour the food but simply couldn't. The ribs were burnt and crunchy & the Mac & cheese had a heavy artificial taste like the cheese sauce was daiya or frys brand. It wasn't made from scratch with love, they didn't have greens that day (the opening day ) so we had yams. We figured maybe we came on a bad day & decided to come again. I wanted to try the ribs again at an earlier time to see if I could get a fresher batch but they don't serve them separately so I was forced to get the whole plate. It was a miserable decision. We got a few other things to sample the menu to give the restaurant a fair shake. The Buffalo fries tasted like they were fried in dirty oil, the chicken pieces were blackened and smoky as if the oil had well passed the heating point so it tasted like a burning building. The gumbo was watery and bland which was surprising because a good Southern roux with vegan butter and flour stirred vigorously until its deep brown is traditional to make the gumbo a thick, rich, stewy. We won't be visiting again. There's such a wide variety on this menu but trying to be a jack of all trades makes you master of none read more

This was our first time eating here and it was so good. The cauliflower trio was amazing. Honestly I can't pick a favorite out of them. The BBQ was sweet and tangy. The lemon pepper had the perfect blend of both. And the buffalo was the right amount of heat. We weren't able to try the hood rolls because they were sold out. We've decided we will order earlier next time. The chimichanga had a great flavor but the bottom was burned in a few spots so that is why I can't put a 5. We will definitely eat here again. This place right here is the real deal! Since it was my first time trying them out, I decided to go with the classic Nana's Soul plate and boy let me tell you I wasn't disappointed one bit. The Vegan Ribs were heavenly, tasting just like beef ribs! The Greens were perfectly seasoned, and I'm still perplexed on how they made the Mac n "Cheese" taste better than many of these other places! I also had to add on the Cauliflower Wings, which blew my away since I've never been a huge fan of imposter meat wings, but these hit different. The portions were also just enough to leave me satisfied but also having some room for one of their many desserts, which in my case was the Strawberry Swirl Shake that tasted like a strawberry cupcake in liquid form! My partner and I were excited to try this spot out... we arrived around 5pm & ordered: Laylay fries, buffalo wrap, side of corn bread, Mac n cheese, & the Oreo cheesecake. There were two other couples in store and they got their food semi quick, plus a woman came in for pickup and got her food. By now 40min had passed and I was getting annoyed.. finally the guy who checked us out, came and said the meat for fries was taking longer to defrost... honestly he should've told us that 10min after ordering cus wow... we should NOT have waited 40min for them to tell us that. I noticed the couples inside kept going up to counter to ask for napkins, forks, shouldn't the tables already have that ???? Just the weirdest customer service overall. Oh, and for waiting that long we got a free lemonade. Awesome. The fries portion were soooo small, and my partner didn't finish his buffalo wrap. None of this meal was worth $50.
