REVIEW BASED ON PIES--- Since Baker's Square in Newark closed down several years ago, I have never been able to find a bakery that offers a wide variety of different pie flavors offered at a reasonable price. Nations is now my new go to for everything and anything that is pie. I recently purchased 3 freshly prepared pies for a party I attended: banana cream, raspberry cheesecake, and custard. My first memory of this place was freshman or sophomore year of high school. We had a school carnival to help fun raise for the senior class' grad night. What did the bestie and I do? Oh right, we ran off to Nation's for the best stack of strawberry pancakes ever. Fast forward a few years later, I dragged my coworkers from the elementary school to another Nation's for a pie-team-bonding after work. I convinced my Portuguese roommate to come here with me for breakfast and pie. (We work out, what can I say??) A few nights ago, I came to this location yet again for some pie. My sister ended up getting the lemon meringue and I bought my mom a quarter slice of the coconut cream. They loved their pies. :) My favourite will always be their seasonal peaches and cream though! We hat that they got a new location! We loved the classic location with the front dining counter and all the booths in the hub. But it is closer to our home now. It is one of our go to burger places especially if we want PIE! My favorite Pecan pie. But I'd say they are all pretty good! Love the fries and onion rings. Like the shakes. Bad all around...ordered for take out a cheeseburger received a burger (no cheese)...received slightly soggy undercooked fries...waited 20 minutes for my order...worst of all bad service! Cute diner style spot. I've been to nations a ton of times and probably have had most menu items from breakfast to burgers, but this review will be on my most recent visit. It was a weekday night and it was pretty empty with only a couple people in line so we were able to order quickly and get our food quickly as well. Service was friendly and patient. We dined in. This time I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and chili. Their grilled cheese is so delicious, the bread is buttered and crunchy, the cheese is melted ooey and gooey and it is topped off with mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion. The chili is so good! I put it on everything from fries to my sandwich! It's hearty with meat and beans and so flavorful and filling! We also ordered their seasonal blueberry pie which was AMAZING! Omgsh the pie crust was light and flakey, the blueberry filling was sweet and delicious and the blue berry cream on top was decorated in luscious waves of goodness. Our party of 4 devoured a large slice despite being so full from our meal. If I could give it a negative star, I would. The hamburgers were raw and way to much mayo and onions. When I asked the cashier what did they put on the hamburgers, he said lettus, tomatoes, and onions. He never said mayo. And didn't say that they use half the jar for it either. I'm on the road again in search for another burger joint to experience the taste and flavor no it's not McDonald's or Burger King they not even in the running field. Nation's Giant Hamburger located in Fremont's Gaslight Square Shopping Center caught my eye so I came in early in the morning just to avoid them crazy lunch crowds not to mention looking for a parking space which there were plenty of them. Staff very friendly, order two regular size hamburgers (though they were large) no cheese no tomatoes along with fries and a chocolate malt for some reason I have a craving. Once you placed the order they will give you a number on the receipt and when it's ready they will call out your number. My wait wasn't that long maybe 10 minutes at the most. Took my food outside yes they do have outdoor patio and a separate entrance. Now for the burgers they were large and generous with the onions and lettuce hold on the tomatos add some ketchup and mustard. The fries were okay wish they were extra crispy and the chocolate malt now that was delicious. Next time I will try either the pecan or lemon moraine pie. Couldn't been any happier will come back again. PS Prices very reasonable cheaper than the Five Guys. read more

Ordered 2 milkshakes and a slice of pie on Uber Eats, it was extremely delayed (restaurants fault, not delivery person). They gave me the wrong size milkshake, and the strawberry shake was complete liquid. Pie was also terrible and 50% whip cream. read more

Burgers are always good here! Staff is always friendly and they get the food done in a timely manner. Getting pies during the holidays, they have a really efficient system and have everything ready. I haven't waited more than 10 min to get a pie that I did not pre order, so they're usually stocked on all pies. Definitely smaller in size compared to their old location, but this one is nice since it's right off the freeway. read more

What can I say if you want a cheat day this is the place for you;) I love their hamburgers but I seriously need to deconstruct them and take off at least half the stuff and maybe like today when I have not eaten a single thing I can finish it and maybe a few fries lol. Lived in fremont for bout 5 years now and i cant believe i have never been here before. Until my assistant boss bought me a burger couple times from this place! Ever since then I've been coming here for work, off times, and even during my munchie moments. So far, i tried their hamburger w/ onion rings and bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. My friends bought a couple of other sides for us all to try. That means i also tried their chili cheese fries, regular fries and of course their pies. I want to talk about the hamburgers first before i talk about their pies. Hamburgers were cooked perfectly, buns were soft and sauced up well. What i didn't like was that they put too much onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. And because of that eating your burger can be pretty messy, or all your produce will fall out leaving you with just the patty and bun. The other downside is they seem to always run out of the slices of desert you want. So if you want your selective pie, better come early... on the side note their pies are very good! Super creamy and soft, pies itself just melts in your mouth! And i believe they make it fresh everyday! Overall service was good, ambiance and every other misc. stuff were spot on. I came here specifically for their banana cream pie. I should learn from my mistake of not calling in when I'm looking for a specific item. Got to the counter and the lady said they ran out of almost every pie!! All they had left was pumpkin and apple pie... I was so sad I almost wanted to leave. I figured, though, I came all the way I may as well try the food out. I got a cheeseburger with pickles and grilled onions. The burger was juicy and pretty good. A good size too! I also had chili cheese fries, and these were just okay. I wasn't too wild about their fries and the chili was okay. A little bit salty this dish was. For dessert I ended up just ordering a strawberry shake, which was alright. Wasn't too impressed by this. Later on at night, my friend Stephanie L. surprised us with banana cream pie she had a friend get from another location! This pie was definitely not what I had hoped for. I have been to Nation's for a while, even before they moved to their location on Mowry. This review is just for my most recent experience. I went in around 4:30, before rush hour traffic and dinnertime, so I did not expect my wait to be too long since I was just picking up a pie. Wrong! The entire time I was there I was delayed by an employee counting his drawer right in front of me, his customer! He was so distracted by this, that it was a few minutes before he even acknowledged me to take my order. Then after my order, I waited about 15 minutes for my pie. I probably could have walked around the counter and got myself my pie faster!!! Meanwhile, the employee was STILL counting his drawer. It was only after the grill cooks asked about my order that I finally got my pie.... the person counting his drawer was the person who should have been getting my pie order. HELP YOUR CUSTOMERS FIRST, THEN COUNT YOUR DRAWERS....AND NOT IN FRONT OF THE CUSTOMERS!!!!! The only good thing about this experience was that the pie was good. read more

It has been a long time I have been in a Nation's. This one looks as it's an older one than the ones I have been in. Service was good the staff was friendly to order my meal. Got the food and was hot and good. The hamburger was messy but good, the fries were a little over cooked but we're ok. The inside is small but clean. The music that was playing was nice until the phone rang and the music stopped and Agee the person got off the phone the music never came back on. Shame I used to love this place before when it was at it's old location. Now the lacks the luster of history and the space feels... empty. The woman I got my order taken from made me repeat it 3 times because she was "distracted" but really it seemed like she just zoned out as I talked. This is obviously the weirdest experience I've had talking to someone who's job is literally just to listen and take and order for you. If you're wondering if the order was complicated... it wasn't, it was one item off the menu, no alterations. We've been going to Nations for years and never been disappointed. The pies are great. My favorite is lemon. It's a typical diner style restaurant. I usually come here for breakfast and order one of the giant breakfast. I love the linguica (sp). My kids love the grilled cheese on sourdough. The service is just fast enough and friendly enough. This rating is based solely on 2 slices of pie lol. We ordered a strawberry slice and a banana creme slice. My avorite "pie" is strawberry cheesecake. I mean, that shoots the arrow straight through my heart. I come from Eileen's cheesecake and Juniors. I'm more used to the solid texture and "regular" taste of strawberry cheesecake. This slice was a bit weird. It was very creamy and the texture was really soft, like cream. It also had a slight tart taste to it, like it was strawberry lemon pie instead. I don't know. It didn't really hit the spot for me like most people mentioned. Was a tad disappointed. The banana creme pie was okay. I've definitely had way better, but for this slice, brought this up to 3 stars. Without the banana slice, it might have been just a 2 for me. BUT their cheeseburgers look bomb af. I will def come back and get myself a bacon cheeseburger with egg on top. This use to be my go to place for breakfast after working out at Planet Fitness. The last couple of months, there has been a change of employees, service is really slow, it use to take about 10 mins to get your order, now it's between 15 to 30 mins or more! The quality of the food is hit or miss. I hope it improves or I'll be going somewhere else! read more

So I came in and saw the sign "Buy one take one on pies" oh Great!! I got Chocolate Pie & Custard Pie. My coworker loves the chocolate pie and I didn't get the chance to try it.. maybe next time and the custard was so good, they like it and i took some home. I can only speak about the burgers, shakes, fries and pies. All the burgers I have hear are delicious, juicy and well cooked. You have the option of adding a fried eggs to your burgers which I love. Their burgers are large I will say. I can never eat the whole thing on my own. The times I have ordered everything has good flavor. Pies review - soooooooooo I always try to upload a picture, but the pie was so good I ate it all before I could upload the picture :) I had the coconut creme, and the pumpkin cheesecake pie. OHHHHH HAAAVE MEEERCY THESE PIES WERE GOOD! I would dfor sure recommend this place for their pies. I have not yet ate their food. When I went in to purchase my pies I did see the food, and it looked good. The place was very clean.. the food smelled appetizing. It reminded me of waffle house.. I am from the midwest, and I think nations burgers may be equivalent to our waffle house. The guys from work always order their burgers from here, and I always salivate when I see them. Love the new location which I've only been to twice. It's been super clean both times. Lots of space to eat. Parking is tight you may have to park by chick fila. First time was in the morning to pick up breakfast. Was busy but they had enough people working. Still out with my food in a good amount of time considering how many orders they had going. This place is incredibly bad customer service the manager actually was our cashier he was rude didn't say hello he rushed us even though we had two small children with us it, sometime it's hard to decide what they want he kept rolling his eyes and breathing hard like we were taking too long and I told him wow your customer service is "really" great!!!
