New China is not temporarily closed. They are open for takeout. I have been coming here for over 20 years. Food is always good and portions are quite large. My call in orders are always ready 5-10 minutes longer than I am quoted but I know that so I just leave a little later. We always get the House Special Fried Rice, House Special Chop Suey and Sweet and Sour Pork. No place better for any of them. The meats in the rice and chop suey are large pieces...you know what you are biting into. Shrimps are always cooked perfectly. We add in a different item or two when we go. We've ordered to go 2 times. It does take a while if you plan on ordering a lot of dishes so call at least 30 mins ahead. We ordered the beef chow fun, Singapore noodles with no curry, orange beef and green beans. Green beans are a must! They make them with jalapeños so if you don't want it spicy, make sure you tell them. Chow fun with any protein is really good. It's dry style which is the way I like it best. Our service has been really good but like I said, we haven't had a chance to sit down and eat at the restaurant. Be Mindfulness when going to any restaurant during the weekend especially on a Sunday afternoon. We were just a party of two but already seated was a party of at least 8 then another party of 9 walked in while 3 people came in for TOGO orders. There was no hostess so the 2 girls were doing it all. The only reason we had to wait was because the people from the big party were acting ignorant & couldn't make decisions on what to order. We usually phone our order in for pick-up and devour our food in front of our TV and cat. Today we ate in the restaurant and had one of their amazing lunch specials. Served everyday between 11:30 am to 3:00 pm, except on Sunday when dinner is served all day and Monday their closed. The lunch specials include soup of the day, egg roll, fried wonton, steamed or fried rice and one entree. Our entrees were Beef with Broccoli ($6.95), Sweet & sour Chicken ($6.95) and Chicken Chow Mein ($5.95). Their food has always been delicious, freshly prepared with very reasonable prices. UPDATE: It took months to resolve this issue as the restaurant went ahead and charged my card after cancelling my order. I had to fight the charge with my credit company. If you are going to cancel an order, do not put a charge on the card. That's really unethical business practice. Very disappointed during our last two visits to New China. Call me strange but I have two prerequisites when we go here. One is hot tea and the other is hot soup. During the last two visits the tea was warm and weak and the soup was warm. Also, even when not crowded, our foot was served with much delay between dishes.
