Stunning food can come in styrofoam packages. Ngoc Suong is a restaurant in Westminster that seems to have quietly been chugging along for almost 4 years. Not to be confused with any similarly named establishments in San Jose, this Ngoc Suong is located close to the heart of Little Saigon. The interior appears to be quite the looker from the photos on Yelp, but I didn't get to experience that, nor did I experience the rest of the atmosphere or any of the service. Instead, I was treated to a to-go order of Mi Toi Bo Luc Lac ($16.99), which I'd translate as garlic noodles with shaking beef. I typically eat Bo Luc Lac with the traditional rice, but I've also enjoyed it with French baguette and in a fusion preparation with the wholly unrelated french fries, so I was excited to try it with yet another carb option. Having enjoyed it at room temperature hours after it was ordered, I have to say that this is a spectacular. The beef is plentiful considering the price, and each piece was tender. More importantly, the noodles are luscious, the onions are caramelized, and the mushrooms are cooked properly. This dish was full of garlic and umami without being overly greased or leaving me longing for more veggies. Ngoc Suong will be worth a visit in the future if only for this one dish. This restaurant is a hidden gem for smaller events or weddings. There are two sections of the restaurant: the left side accommodates maximum 6 tables (10 people at each table) while the right side has more capacity at minimum 10 tables for booking. We hosted a birthday party here for our son and it was cozy with 5 tables. There is an optional package for the smaller room with a small live stage if you need to have DJ, live band, singing, etc. Food wise, there's absolutely no complaints from the guests, our standard menu includes: _Súp Măng Cua _Gỏi Xoài Mực Rang Me _Cánh Gà Chiên Nước Mắm _Lobster Mì Tỏi _Bò Lúc Lắc _Cơm Chiên Tôm Cua _Chè Khoai Môn The service was decent and the guests were taken care of. We recently booked this place for 35 people. Everyone loved it so much! There was so much food and each dish was amazing! I can't say enough how great the food here is. And the best part, it won't break the bank. We didn't book the private room because their menu was limited. The general dining had a grater selection of food. The lettuce rolls, mango squid salad, filet mignon onchoy salad, garlic noodles, fried rice, shrimps, and salmon. All delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. I think it's one of the best kept secret. If you want excellent Vietnamese cuisine, then this place has it all! They don't have many servers so don't expect five or four stars service. A nice place with good ambience and the food was excellent! We ordered the medium baked catfish which was plenty for two. They brought out the rice paper to wrap the roll with and the variety of fresh green ingredients to add in. The taste was just what we were craving for this evening. The service was satisfactory too. They were available as needed. An ideal place to host a private party. We'll definitely keep this place in mind for the future, although the parking may be a challenge. The 4th star was the entertainment! They had a host and keyboard player to entertain and ask the audience to participate to share their talents. It was mostly in Vietnanese and a few sang in english. I was there at 630 and other ppl were also coming in and they told me that kitchen was closed while they were serving others still and the very last time I was there with family they added tip in our bill without even asking or letting us know. I feel like these bigger restaurants that could accommodate huge groups are going the way of the dodo bird. Super yummy "fun" Vietnamese foods. Different from typical Viet food fare, but very familiar Vietnamese "party foods" done really well. The SAUCES here are great! Normal fish sauce dipping sauce, tangy tamarind sauce, and fermented shrimp paste sauce. They were all so balanced and yet so bright, different from what you eat at home or other restaurants! Leaf-wrapped rolls look super fun, and very easy to eat! Mango (and apple) salad, super fresh with some little crispy salty fish treats! Catfish (rolls) was cooked so well with so much crispy skin goodness! Make your own rolls filled with as much or little fresh herbs and veges as you like. Great with tamarind sauce! Wow! I couldn't believe I didn't tried this restaurant sooner. I was introduced to a Ngoc Suong from my aunt who lives in Chatsworth, CA. She came down to visit her godsons and ask us to go eat. I didn't know what to expect of the food until I tried it. We started out with the egg roll & lettuce wrap appetizers. The egg rolls was crunchy and appetizing, we got it for my sons. Lettuce wrap, similar to spring rolls, just without the ricepaper wrapped. Similar concept to ordering an In-N-Out burger Protein style without the buns. I was blown away by how delicious the food was. The grilled scallops with peanuts & scallions oil was amazing delicious! The sweet and sour soup hit close to home. It reminded me of my childhood It tasted like how my aunt use to make it back in the early 90's. Served with catfish, pineapple, bean sprouts, tomatoes, w/ other vegetables in a sweet and sour soup. One of my favorites. The combination fried rice, we had it on two occasions. It was delicious at the restaurant since we had the boys. But when we bought it home on another occasion, it was a bit on the dry side. From my experience, usually Togo is a hit and miss, some food still taste great when bought home, some is better to eat at the restaurant. We also got the simmered catfish in a cooked in a clay pot. If you love spicy food like me, definitely ask for their homemade spicy chili sauce. It's super spicy but it's SO addicting and so good on their garlic noodles. I ordered a party tray of the lobster garlic noodles for Thanksgiving. My whole family loved it! I'll definitely be ordering from here for my family parties moving forward! This is the friendly staff that I've ever had visiting any Vietnamese restaurant. So friendly that I almost didn't want to write this review. We dined on Saturday at 3:45 PM. There was no other customers in the restaurant and it appeared that Dave are you getting ready for set up of a private event. It will be arranging tables and setting up linens table toppings flowers etc. but there still willing to accommodate us. We ordered the small baked fish (ca nuong hang toi) to wrap with rice paper to make spring rolls. I asked how long it would take, ETA was 20 mins. The party planners showed up and threw the restaurant staff into a frenzy as I watched them rearrange tables and setup. The owner stopped by to let us know to dine comfortably, no rush as the event didn't start til 6 PM. I reassured her I would be out of there soon since I was trying to catch the boxing fight. Our fish arrived promptly at 20 mins mark, as indicated and much bigger than I expected for a small. The rice paper was perfectly chewing and didn't break easily, lots of veggies provided and sauce was good. The fish was way over cooked, beyond well done. We didn't have time to wait for another one and just ate it. The flavor was nice just simply overcooked. Have you had fish that's been baking in the oven too long? It becomes hard and no longer tastes like fresh fish. Since that was the only dish we orders to share, I left feeling hungry. There's only two people they could not serve and the food was spill on the floor and they would not pack first to go. I would not recommend this place for any party, this husband and wife team they don't even give you a container to go. The new Ngoc Suong restaurant is so great with the menus and services. The food portion is huge and the price is great. We went for lunch today and order "Bun Bo Xao". Their "nuoc mam" is so good.The beef is so tender and the portion is so big that we end up sharing for two of us with left-over. Very thankful for a full and happy stomach, as well as the support felt by myself and my coworkers during this Covid Crisis. The food was delicious! I should have read the reviews prior to booking . I see a few that had the same problem as I did . Please make sure you go over the contract with this owner and get everything in writing . We had one server for 36 guest . Instead of enjoying myself I was up serving , clearing food , and pouring guests water. The glasses were not washed . I had to wash glasses and clean . We had a special bottle of whiskey and the owner wanted us to use plastic cups like we were drinking shots . I confirmed 36 guests and was charged for 40 guests it was at 50 then changed to 55 per person. We had to pack up all the food that no one ate . I know just coming out of Covid times are hard but to cheat people that's just not very ethical . My contract had one price of 50.00 then at the end of event she scratched it off and upped it to 55.00 not per agreement . Bring your contract and have all those things in mind on the day of the event . Food - The lobster noodles had mostly head claw and tails . The crab fried rice had 6 shrimp around plate . I would have taken a picture but I was too busy serving the guests . I plan several culinary events, and I have worked in the back and front of restaurant . If you are going to spend thousands for an event you would expect more . Make sure you have in contract how many servers you will have .
