I did have one of the better chorizo burritos I've had in a long time. I definitely was not expecting this place to have this. The flavors were spot on, and the spiciness of the burrito was great. I love a burrito that has a little bit of cake, but does not overpower with heat. You definitely had the chorizo flavors permeate in your tongue with every bite. The grease from the sausage seeping into the egg and potato gelled really well in the burrito. definitely happy. I made the stop here. The service was nice. The best in customer service, the manager always makes you feel like he remembers you, and the staff is so welcoming. Now that's just about the amazing staff, but let me mention the food, it is so delicious that you won't find a day where it is not packed inside, the back room and patio. The wife and I have been coming here since we first met 23 years ago. The quality of the food hasn't changed. This is for sure a locals spot as you sit and watch the various people coming in and out to eat. The spot is small, with maybe 8 tables inside and 3 tables out in front on the sidewalk. The menu has a variety of breakfast burritos and sandwiches, among other things. My fam ALWAYS gets the chorizo breakfast burritos, loaded with chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. You can add avocado, sour cream, etc on request. They can also make them as spicy or mild as you wish. I decided to go off script and get the mole high pastrami on rye, with the side of mac salad. It was delicious and I would definitely order it again. The service here always friendly but quick as they are usually very busy. It might not look like much from the outside, but this place is a definite golden spot. We will be back as often as we can. You need to try this place at least once. IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE!!! This video went viral in SoCal from the local KTLA TV. I'm close to the area so I was finally able to check it out. Here was my experience on a Sunday afternoon. AMBIANCE: Parking: There's parking in the strip but that can get pretty packed. However there's parking perpendicular to the strip some timed and some not. Seating: Enough room for about 50 people. All mainly inside,some patio seating and very few outside. Feels: Think about Huntington or Newport Beach but smaller. It's a charming strip with eatery, art, or clothing shops. Not too far away is Seal Beach. As for Nick's Dli itself, it's your typical spacious deli shop with a tv and a plantation next door. It's family friend and great for everyone: tourists, date nights, and all that jazz. FOOD: Breakfast Burrito (Recommend) Yes yes yes. Served hot and fresh in a fairly reasonable size. What's unique is the well-chopped mix of bacon, eggs, sour cream, chorizo, and cheese. It's not too overloaded with cheese and the sour cream blended deliciously well to it. CASH ONLY!!! Craving a breakfast burrito, was in the area, and stopped by here to satisfy my cravings with my best friend. Small and intimate deli/ restaurant with minimal seats available inside. Line starts at the register and normally goes out the door. This deli serves various burritos and countless types of sandwiches as well as breakfast plates. Once you order they give you a number where you wait to be called. Once you're called to claim your order that is when you pay for your order. Went with the ITALIANO BURRITO $6.95 which consists of eggs, potatoes, cheese, and sausage. I added avocado for an additional $1.50 and jalapeños for another $0.50. Every burrito comes with a side of their special hot sauce which is just ok in my opinion. Rather have had salsa to be honest. Burritos are pretty big for the price and is kinda on the bland side. Can't quite comment on the service because I didn't get to experience any besides ordering and paying for my burritos. Nick's on Main St. is an awesome place to get a sandwich or burrito. Very small inside, they do have a few tables to sit and eat there, but by far most people are getting the sandwiches to go. Every sandwich I've had is really good. Big portions, very fair prices for what you get, fresh rolls and bread, good quality ingredients. My two favorites are the meatball and cheese, and the pastrami. The pastrami comes on rye and is super moist and flavorful, just the right amount of fat to flavor the meat, but not so much that the pastrami is greasy. And not too lean (I can't stand super lean pastrami...so dry and flavorless.) The meatballs in the MB and cheese sandwich are nice and big, subtle sauce that doesn't overwhelm the meatballs and cheese, on a nice soft roll. As other reviewers have noted, be aware Nick's is a CASH-ONLY business. If you forgot or don't have cash, there are ATM's across the road and a half-block towards the pier, at the B of A. But after speaking to Nick the "owner" dude was implying that I was lying about the transaction and kept asking me the same questions over and over, he requested that I meet him at the deli to discuss the details further. Unpopular opinion... their breakfast burritos are not good. I mean, they're fine, not horrible, but certainly not what I was expecting given how so many people recommend Nick's. I've tried several times to see if it's just me, its not, it's the burrito. I don't know that I've ever had a more bland, no taste burrito with chorizo. I have never had chorizo that just has no flavor. How does it exist? Even Soyrizo has better flavor. The old deli fridge in the front, the old school cash register, the view of the kitchen when you're ordering... I love it all. There's plenty of seating. CUSTOMER SERVICE Aside from sit-down restaurants, there are no more places around town where you pay AFTER you receive your food. Actually, I picked up my food, and the guy goes, "Pay whenever. Now or after you eat, it doesn't matter." I dig it. They're super accommodating and are willing to answer any questions you may have about the menu items. FOOD I've gotten their BREAKFAST BURRITO before and it's amazing, but this time around I ordered the CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH. I loved it. It's made with white meat chicken, which I happen to appreciate. Mixed in is mayo, egg, a little bit of celery, and salt and pepper. Classic, basic, but really tasty. I got it on toasted wheat bread with lettuce and tomatoes on the sandwich and the pickles on the side. I ate the pickles sorta like chips. Yummy! I would definitely order this sandwich again. They give you a generous serving of chicken salad, so I was only able to eat half of the sandwich. Came here after seeing some hype about it on the r/FoodLosAngeles subreddit. The breakfast burritos were pretty good, but not as great as the best in LA in my opinion: Lucky Boy. My main complaint with Nick's breakfast burrito was the lack of seasoning on the potatoes. Salsa has good flavor but lacks heat. Reasonably priced, pretty quick service although I think they should just take your payment when you order rather than ordering, then having to get back in line to pay as your order gets cold in the window. read more

However, it didn't sit too hot with my stomach. This is the second time I've tried this place and the burrito just doesn't work with me. I've heard constant reviews about the breakfast burrito at Nick's Deli, and with it so close to where my sister lives, what better reason to visit. But does it live up to my standards as well as the reviews of the hundreds before me? Deco/Location: 5 stars Main Street in Seal Beach is a completely different beast than any other Main Street in So Cal. Unlike Huntington Beach's bustling, trendy version, Seal Beach's version fits into the mood of a beach community. Everyone seems to be relaxed, laid back, and happy. People seem to walk slower and enjoy their surroundings. So with such a beach like environment, it'd be no surprise to see Nick's Deli also have that vibe. With wood being the prominent theme of the deli, it makes up the walls, the booths, and the tables. Hand written menu items are posted above the cash register and the kitchen is compact, located behind the cash register. The indoor patio has huge windows that look onto the street as well as the open nursery right next to Nick's Deli. It is a welcoming sight for any morning. Service: 2 stars The service here is borderline annoying/maddening. When I spoke with the person manning the register, he spoke to me in a very blunt, "what do you want" attitude. It's like he knew Nick's Deli is well reviewed and the arrogance went to his ego. It irked me like a slap in the face, and made a good morning turn slightly gray. He took my order (without offering any information for any item) and told me it'll come out it in ten minutes. Thanks "buddy". Price: 3 stars The price for the breakfast burrito is about 5 cents below $6. In fact, most of the higher end burritos are around that price. So it won't burn a hole in your wallet. However, keep in mind this is a cash only place. Food: 4 stars Let me say the bad first. I ordered the breakfast burrito and with the way people spoke of it, I expected it to be bigger. It wasn't. It wasn't tiny by any means, but it was the size of a regular burrito. Imagine a chicken burrito you'd buy at Del Taco or Taco Bell, and that's about the girth of the breakfast burrito. That was a disappointment. Still, how would it taste? The breakfast burrito consists of chorizo, potatoes, cheese, and eggs and man is it tasty. Like Hazel Q. mentioned, this isn't greasy at all, which is amazing considering chorizo is involved. On top of that, the potatoes have this great crunch that contrasts the softness of the rest of the burrito. The eggs have taste and aren't lost from the rest of the ingredients, and the cheese is gooey and melty. All in all, it's everything you'd want in a great breakfast burrito, except for the size. Conclusion Nick's Deli is a unique place that fits well with the rest of the diverse spots on Main Street. The food is good and unique.
