JAPANESE A5 BRISKET & JAPANESE A5 SHORT RIB
    Angela P.

I think I found the best Restaurant Week for this season! This spot has been on my radar for awhile because normally they offer AYCE A5 meats. So I'm glad they are participating in Restaurant week so I can sample some of the meat. We got so much food! Usually you get to pick one item from each section but HERE, that rule doesn't apply! Everyone got ONE OF EACH APP, ONE BOWL OF SOUP, EACH SELECTION OF MEAT, a VARIETY OF DESSERT to share (we were supposed to get a bowl of rice but our didn't come. But we weren't upset. Since we were really stuffed) We got: Complimentary: KIMCHI APPETIZERS: POTATO PAVE WAGYU OXTAIL POTSTICKER SHISHITO PEPPER WAGYU TARTARE NIKU HOUSE SALAD SOUP: MISO SOUP or TOM YUM SEAFOOD SOUP (both options had a piece of king crab) PREMIUM WAGYU SELECTION (Meat): JAPANESE A5 SKIRT STEAK JAPANESE A5 STRIPLOIN JAPANESE A5 BRISKET JAPANESE A5 SHORT RIB JAPANESE A5 RIBEYE IBERICO PORK RICE & CARB: A5 WAGYU CURRY RICE BOWL or WAGYU FRIED RICE DESSERT: MATCHA CHEESE CAKE VANILLA MILLE CREPE CAKE VANILLA, CHOCOLATE and MATCHA ICE CREAM All the meats were really good, my favorite was the striplion. However, I do think the A5 meats were wasted on me. I can't tell the difference between regular and A5 meats. But I'm glad I got to try the different A5 cuts of meat It was nice that our server grilled the meat for us. Since our table was constantly full with food and we didn't have room to also grill the meat ourselves. Plus, we wouldn't want to overcook the meat. Definitely a wonderful restaurant week deal!

TLDR; one of the best meals I've had this year. Even more bang for your buck via restaurant week special. Really top shelf beef cuts. Ambiance (5/5): The dark and sleek décor provides an elevated dining experience. We ate upstairs in semi-private rooms with one dedicated grill for our party of 4. Service (5/5): We dined during NYC restaurant week 2026 and service was very backed up. We were upset that we waited 25 min past our reservation time and then waited another 10 min for our service to begin. However, the establishment fully made it up by serving us complimentary items throughout the meal! This was a cook yourself dining experience. The servers came to check in on us throughout the meal. They were understaffed and literally running from room to room. Food (5/): If I could, I would rate the food 6 stars. For the restaurant week menu, it was absolutely worth a $100+ meal. They helped portion out all of the dishes for our party and even gave us more than the listed meat options. Wagyu tartare: even had a dollop of caviar, the whole thing was so so good. Uni (single, complimentary): it was a small bite per person but the effort was recognized Niku House Salad: Whatever salad dressing they were using was delicious. Miso soup: Not vegetarian! There was a crab leg in it. Standard soup, slightly too salty. Tom Tom soup: very flavorful, also contained a crab leg in it Wagyu Oxtail potstickers: so much flavor, a hint of sauce that paired well Potato pave: so much wonderful texture with the layers of potato that was soft on the inside and lightly crispy on the outside Shishito peppers: had a kung pao chicken flavor on the outside, really good Beef curry and white rice: wow this could be a dish on its own. It was very tender and paired wonderfully with the white rice Fried rice: this was the only non-memorable dish of the whole night, just tasted so subpar compared to everything else All of the meat cuts were wonderfully marbleized and paired well with their 2 table Japanese sauces. Cheesecake: Japanese style with multiple layers of soft vanilla cake. This was perfect.

This place is awesome! It has an upscale vibe, and I came here for Restaurant Week. Let me tell you--it was a steal. The oxtail dumpling and potatoes were my favorite dishes. The dumpling was packed with flavor, and the potatoes...come on, who doesn't love potatoes? The meat was tender, flavorful, and was not overly rich or fatty. The tom yum soup was another standout. It was creamy with just the right amount of spice, and I loved the coconut flavors. For my cocktail, I ordered the Jade Obsession. Matcha cocktails can be hit or miss, but they nailed this one.it was a well balanced drink. Unfortunately, dessert was a bust. I ordered the yuzu cheesecake, but it lacked flavor and was served so frozen that it was difficult to eat. It was a disappointing way to end an otherwise great meal. The service was friendly throughout the night. They did forget to put in one of my appetizers, and I noticed the table next to me had the same issue. Thankfully, everyone was kind, and the mistake was handled well. Overall, I had a great experience. I'd love to come back and try their unlimited seafood!.

Exceptional! Is the first thing that comes to mind. A5 wagyu with so many different cuts makes is amazing. Ive had A5 in the past but to try all the cuts in one sitting, made it an absolute treat! Izzy our server was attentive and made our experience even more special. We cant wait to come back!

I went here with my best friend for her birthday and the meat was tasty. We wanted to try the $119 menu AYCE but it was only the tasting menu, which had plenty of food but prices/offers were misleading on the website. I ordered the cherry blossom drink which was very floral and sweet, much needed palate reset. The beef cuts served were very meaty. I enjoyed the lobster tail and appetizers offered. Service was on the slower end as it took them almost 2 hours to serve us and the ambiance was very private. I enjoyed the private seating but service could have been better.

Let me start by saying that they have a happy hour hour menu! When we arrived at Niku, our table wasn't quite ready yet and they asked if we wanted to wait at the bar, hence how I found out about this menu! I feel like people are gatekeeping this because they have really good deals on food/apps, and select wine/beer, and cocktails, and the cocktails were SO good! I've read so many reviews but I did not see one that mentioned a happy hour. We were actually at the pub next door grabbing a drink waiting for our dinner reservation to come up (6:45 on a Saturday). Had I known about HH sooner, we would have skipped the pub and came straight here. I had the Jade Obsession (Haku vodka, italicus bergamopt, matcha, lychee, yuzu, lemon, aquaphaba). Now, I'm normally not a lychee gal but the lychee flavor here was very subtle and you just taste really smooth, refreshing matcha drink. You don't even taste the alcohol, which can be dangerous! Hubby had the Lust Island (Awayuki Strawberry Gin, lavender, lemon, mio crisp sparkling sake). I didn't love it only because I don't like gin but he seemed to enjoy it. We ended up ordering two more drinks right before happy hour ended and we were able to bring it to our table. I had the Forbidden Plum (ume plum, elderflower, ginger, vodka, egg whites) and he had the Cherry Blossom (Hendricks Flora Adora, soho lychee elderflowers, yuzu, grapefruit), and we each liked our own drinks better. The bartender was super nice and genuinely wanted feedback on what we liked/didn't like but I had no notes for my drinks. But enough about drinks and onto the food! We opted for the Unlimited Grand Wagyu Menu. Everyone starts out with the Grand Wagyu Box (Japanese A5 Wagyu striploin, Australian short rib, ribeye, Japanese A5 skirt steak, and Australian zabuton). Get out your cameras because it's a pretty cool presentation. You can also order each of these a la carte if you decide there's one you really like. We also ordered the wagyu nigiri, beef tongue, Japanese A4. After a while, the meats do kind of taste the same and are very rich and filling because of the fat content. It would have been nice to see some beef tartare on the menu. My favorite beef item was probably the wagyu nigiri but it had a lot of rice. For non-meat, we had the sashimi platter, toro with ikura, seafood tartare, grilled lobster tail, miso Chilean seabass wrap, wagyu fried rice, and lobster roll with fries. I know, I know - you should get carbs at AYCE but my husband loves fried rice. We immediately regretted this decision because it was super basic. Overall, I think I liked the seafood items over the beef because there was more of a variety. My faves were the Chilean seabass, grilled lobster tail, torotaku, and sashimi platter (so basically most of them LOL). Their online menu advertised Norwegian King Crab, but it wasn't on the menu when we got there so I felt a little mis-led, and was disappointed. For dessert, they had a yuzu cheesecake, matcha cheesecake, and matcha ice cream. Cheesecakes are pretty heavy desserts, so it would have been nice to have something like fresh fruit, or sorbet. We did note on the reservation that we were celebrating my husband's birthday but they didn't do anything extra or special for it. While the overall experience was good, I'm not sure I'd come back, just because of the price point, and I think I would rather go to an AYCE seafood buffet. Plus, there are so many other NYC restaurants to try first before I would make a return trip here. At least not for the AYCE. However, I will definitely be returning to try some happy hour bites and some cocktails.

This place is hyped up. I have to say I was quite excited to try this place, since I've been to the sister restaurants. This one is the worst one in my opinion. The ambience is quite dark. We were seated on the first floor behind the bar. The bathrooms were disgusting. It reeked, was super hot and the floors were sticky. Not something you would have expected for this price range. The best thing about this place has to be the mid wagyu and meats. The sides were terrible. The best side was the lobster, but that needed a lot of lemon juice for flavor. All the cooked food that came from the kitchen was barely lukewarm. The server was kind enough to heat it up. The sushi/sashimi was like supermarket grade. Another turnoff was that they kept trying to sell the chubby membership. I might have considered it if the food wasn't terrible. If we tell you we will think about it, please don't ask us again and again.

Went here for my sister's birthday for lunch time and what an experience. It felt especially elevated since we had a private room to ourselves. The cuts were rich so certainly you gotta pace yourself . I can't remember having such an amazing meal like this in a long time. I'm not too much of a fan of tartare, but this was absolutely snapped.

I've visited the LA location before which I thoroughly enjoyed and was really excited to try their NYC location! *AMBIANCE* We came here for a special occasion and made reservations beforehand. We took an elevator up where we were seated, where they have a communal dining area as well as private rooms. Overall, the look and feel seems very similar to the LA location with its dark mood lighting. *FOOD* This is meat paradise. We tried the unlimited grand wagyu menu ($158 mon-thurs // $168 fri-sun // 100 minutes) which has a wide assortment of starters, seafood, specialty wagyu dishes, sides and desserts. Everything in the grand wagyu box was really tasty and some cuts just melt in your mouth. I also really enjoyed the lobster tail and the wagyu ribeye yakisuki. *SERVICE* Service was good and attentive. Our server also explained how the menu worked given it was our first time at this location and he also made recommendations on how many dishes and what to order. They also cooked all the meats for us in a separate area. If you are looking to indulge in a decadent meat session, this is the place to be!

Finally tried NIKU X. I've been thinking about trying the LA location for a while but never had time to. I got the Unlimited Grand Tasting Menu for $168 and went in very excited, but it quickly fell short. They ran out of several items the night I went (Sunday), including caviar, king crab legs, and wagyu tallow shishito peppers, along with a few others. The waiter explained it was the end of the week so many items were out by then. Unfortunately, I was only told after ordering. Paying $168 plus tax and tip -- easily around $225 per person -- I felt a bit cheated. The meat cuts were good, but after a couple of rounds the fatty portions became too much. I understand Wagyu is meant to be rich and fatty, but for me personally it was overwhelming after a while. The ambiance is cool and gives off a speakeasy vibe. Service was good as well -- they were attentive throughout. Would I return? Maybe not. Would I recommend it? Yes, if it's your first time and you want to try Wagyu. However, I would likely recommend the regular tasting menu instead of the Unlimited Grand Tasting. At that price point, and with the possibility of missing items, it didn't feel worth it.

Lets get RIGHT into it: Niku X is the kind of place that makes you stop halfway through dinner and wonder if you somehow wandered into a luxury food fever dream. We did the unlimited Wagyu and Seafood, and it was completely absurd in the best possible way. I have not eaten a ton of wagyu in my life, but this meal absolutely changed that. Every round felt like a new flex: multiple lobster tails, rich wagyu tartare, incredible sea bass for someone who does not even usually eat fish, and cut after cut of wagyu so buttery and tender it practically vanished on my tongue. I am not exaggerating when I say I felt like I was chasing the flavor of the meat before it dissolved. That is how melt THROUGH your mouth this whole experience was. The drinks were out of this world, the meal was wildly memorable, and the service pushed everything over the top. Our server was AMAZING, and not just in the standard polite, attentive way. He genuinely guided the experience and made ordering feel effortless, which turned a huge unlimited menu into something exciting instead of overwhelming. It felt like he was helping craft the meal in real time, and that made the whole night even more special. This is the kind of place I already know I will come back to for another special occasion. Truly one of those dinners that stays with you. 11/10. Literally: steak too juicy, lobster too buttery.

Not bad. We did the unlimited experience. My husband liked the meat - I thought it was only ok and most of it was too fatty (just a personal thing ). I did really enjoy the hand rolls - and the sea bass wasn't bad. The Norwegian king crab was pretty poor quality so I didn't have much but it is king crab so my husband got a refill. The second batch was admittedly better than the first. I loved the free kimchi to start so much so I kept getting refills and then they ran out - it was helpful to cut against the fat of the meat. Agedashi tofu and shisito peppers weren't bad - would pass on the asparagus. Yuzu and matcha cheesecake were also both decent. Service was ok. My water was constantly empty but they did stop a decent amount of times asking if we wanted to order more. They must have improved from other older reviews bc we didn't find an issue with timing for asking for more food. Also the inside was unbearably hot, even for me and I always run cold. Overall, glad we tried it but not sure I'd return.

I was really looking forward to dining at Niku X. While there were many things that I enjoyed, the overall experience left me disappointed. We went for a weekday dinner, which made it a little less pricey. The food itself was excellent. I enjoyed the A5 Wagyu Nigiri, Wagyu Box, A5 Ribeye Thick Cut, Grilled Lobster Tail, Toro with Ikura, and the sashimi. It was high quality and nicely presented. The location is also a plus since it was right in Herald Square. However, my experience would have been much better if I hadn't felt so rushed. When I made the reservation, it wasn't stated that our dining time would be limited due to the kitchen closing at a certain hour. Had I known in advance, I would have planned accordingly. Instead I felt pressured to eat quickly so I wouldn't miss out. At one point, I was eating so fast that I felt like I was in one of those Coney Island Contests where you have to stuff your face before the time runs out. I didn't get to fully relax and enjoy everything. On top of that, they knew it was my partner's birthday, and there wasn't even a small acknowledgement- no candle on a dessert, no complimentary treat, not even a simple happy birthday from the waitstaff. For a restaurant of this standard, I was very disappointed. Overall, clearer communication about time constraints and a little more attention to special occasions would have made a big difference. Any small gesture would've gone a long way in creating a better experience.

    Does anyone know attire?

Wear anything, it plays to be a more upscale environment but i went in with work black pants and a white tshirt and was treated/respected just fine without any issues

How can I sign up for the membership?

I believe Niku X is part of a larger umbrella of restaurant brands, all under the app Chubby Club.

I came here to throw down on some seafood and that's exactly what we did. I found out about this place because one of my favorite TikTok foodies posted that she came here when she was visiting from Chicago. It was also my friend's birthday so we figured we'd check it out. If you come with a group of 4 or more, including the birthday person, they eat for free, which is a pretty nice perk. This place lived up to every bit of the hype. We did the $125 option which includes lobster. If you have people in your group who are on the fence about spending the extra money, just remind them it's only about $35 more and that's basically the cost of one lobster anywhere else. Here you're getting unlimited lobster. The food literally just kept coming. At one point we were running out of room on the table. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff noticed and started putting multiple items on the same plates instead of bringing everything out separately. It sounds small but it actually helped a lot and showed they were paying attention. The drinks weren't super strong but they definitely weren't weak either. If you love seafood, come hungry and bring a group. The vibes were great, the service was on point, and we left absolutely stuffed.

I had a great experience here. There are so many food options to choose from, including lobster,…read moreshrimp, all kinds of crab legs, and even blue crabs. It's honestly a seafood lover's dream. I highly recommend coming with a large group so you can try a bit of everything. They also offer an option to pay an extra $45 to take your leftovers home, which is absolutely worth it. I ended up with so much food that my fridge is still full. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to others.

Both places have exceptional food and great service. Over the last 25+ years spend traveling throughout the world, this restaurant is one of our favorite Thai cuisines and a favorite among all our restaurants. It is highly recommended. We are from Houston and enjoy stopping at Fish Cheeks when transiting thru NY on our way to Europe. This restaurant makes our stop-over in NY a highlight.

The flavors in the Manila clams were still a 10/10, but I was disappointed by the portion this time. I had more empty shells in my bowl than clams with meat! I'm not usually one to complain, but I honestly should have said something. The coconut crab curry, however, knocked it out of the park as always. The flavor is out of this world, and the succulent lumps of crabmeat practically melt in your mouth. Pro tip: If you order both dishes, mix a little of the sweet basil clam sauce into the coconut crab curry. The combination is incredible! The Tongue & Cheek cocktail was divine mildly sweet, refreshing, and incredibly smooth, with a velvety texture from the egg white. Service was mixed this particular evening. The host came across as a bit rude and seemed to have an attitude, but thankfully, my bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the night. Despite a couple of misses, Fish Cheeks remains one of my favorites for its bold flavors, beautiful atmosphere, and consistently unforgettable coconut crab curry.

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

Service was good. We had the fried chicken Benedict and the crab cake Benedict. I was a bit confused when I saw that each Benedict dish only had one poached egg - shouldn't it always be two? I guess that's shrinkflation (plus inflation) for you. That bent said, the crab cake was actually really big and filling. The side of potatoes were really delicious. Would I come back for brunch again? Very unlikely. But, it does seem like a pretty "safe choice" if you need a last minute reservation for a group.

The staff was professional and efficient with all functionsof service. We were seat once everyone had arrived and were given menus. Everything was good until she asked if we had allergies..... pork. She flips my menu over and stated I could only order the fried foods. They cook everything together, sausage seafood etc, in her words, cross-contamination. I was crushed! Im so glad my friends were distracted. Lost on what to get, I asked for a recommendation and went with the wing basket, while the rest of the table did the 3lb boil with a calamari basket. The boils comes out very fast, fry baskets about 10min longer. The food was fresh, hot, but lightly seasoned (the wings). I requested ranch for the wings, they didnt have any. There was a spicy mayo to dip but it wasnt my cup of tea. As long as the birthday girl had fun, thats all that counts. Im grateful the server asked about allergies. Saved me a trip to the emergency room.

We ordered the $129 Grand Lobster Emperor Tasting, and every course was delicious. The lobster trio was the highlight--especially the butter-poached lobster and Lobster Thermidor. We also loved the lobster bisque, Oyster Rockefeller, baked scallops, garlic butter shrimp scampi, crispy seabass, and the rich lobster mac & cheese. The portions were generous, and every dish was fresh and beautifully presented. A special thank you to Eli for the outstanding service! Eli was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. Even the restrooms were fancy, with heated seats and gold detailing. Since the menu is quite pricey, my friend and I came during lunch to take advantage of the slightly less expensive lunch menu. I ordered the Fried Branzino, which came on a sizzling cast iron platter. The server poured warm sweet and sour sauce all over it. This also came with a side of fries. The Fried Branzino was the whole fish and impressive looking. The Branzino was satisfyingly crispy, tender, flaky, and well seasoned. The sauce was nicely balanced and full of bold flavor. Fries were tasty, perfectly crunchy, and addicting. Service was wonderful throughout. Our waitress was welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything came out in a timely manner. I'm glad I had a chance to experience this fancy restaurant.

I've been coming here for years, and the quality of the food continues to keep me coming back. During this visit, I ran into a recurring issue with my lobster. It was carrying a large amount of roe, which I was actually happy about because I enjoy it and didn't want any of it to go to waste. However, the roe deep inside wasn't fully cooked during the initial steaming process. I had to go back and forth with Ash and the kitchen staff several times, but they remained patient, attentive, and committed to making sure everything was cooked properly. Ash, one of the managers, provided excellent customer service throughout the experience. While I was waiting, he kindly offered me a complimentary cup of New England clam chowder, which was absolutely delicious and very much appreciated since I was starving. Before leaving, I also ordered two more 2 lb. steamed lobsters to go. I explained my concern, and the staff made sure they were thoroughly cooked before packaging them. Both were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. I truly appreciate the team's dedication to customer satisfaction and their willingness to make things right. Their excellent service, combined with consistently great seafood, is why I've remained a loyal customer for years. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. Thank you!
