O' Sushi has become the unofficial sushi spot for our family ever since Covid-19 lockdowns. The previous places are either closed or wouldn't deliver to our addresses. O'Sushi is consistent in the quality of their food and service. We normally would call in and pick up, but on our most recent trip they were not answering the phone. In those cases, I recommend using Door Dash. Our go to rolls are the Ichiban, Spider, Tempura, Alaska, Red Dragon, California, 49ers and the #1. This is a good mix of rolls if you're trying to appease a family or group of people with diverse tastes regarding Sushi. The service is usually very fast; most times our order is ready about 45 min after requesting. The food is always fresh and O'Sushi will continue to be our go to place for Sushi. read more

Food is hit or miss sometimes - the ownership definitely varies the portion size based on their economics if you know what I mean. Service is great, people are friendly and efficient. Ambiance is good - they greet you when you come in, there music and sports on all the time, and it makes you feel welcome. read more

Jaye T. and I came here on a Tuesday evening at 7pm and beat the dinner rush. We ordered two rolls and got complimentary edamame, miso soup, and chocolate ice cream. Isn't free food the best!? The salmon lovers roll was good, but the salmon slices were smaller than I expected. The #1 roll was the star of the night. Guess it's called #1 roll for a reason, haha. It had salmon, snow crab, and shrimp tempura topped with a sauce that gave a slightly spicy kick to it. It was bomb! Service was great from start to finish. All the staff have friendly smiles on when you walk in. Would definitely recommend! read more

I've ordered from O'Sushi for dinner before, but today I ordered lunch for the first time and was stunned (in a good way!) at the amount of food they give you for $15 when you order the 3-item bento on DoorDash. For my items, I chose (1) sashimi (five pieces), (2) a California roll (six pieces), and (3) chicken teriyaki . I received these, plus a mound of rice, a single serving of miso soup, and a side salad. The chicken teriyaki portion in particular was super generous - I was expecting maybe 4-5 pieces total, but there's gotta be at least two, maybe three chicken thighs' worth of chicken in here. It's not the best Japanese food I've ever had, but it's totally acceptable (and generous!) at this price point from a sushi restaurant in the East Bay. I'll be ordering from here again. read more

My family and I would often come to O Sushi for dinner prior to COVID. I wanted to leave a review just to say thank you to the staff who continue to work during these times! I've ordered takeout a handful of times over the past few months and haven't been disappointed! They are super quick and the food is m prepared safely. My two favorites as of lately are the Red Dragon and M&M roll! I also really enjoy the Yaki Soba options. Can't wait to come back and dine in again when it's safe to do so! read more

Food: #1 Roll - Refreshing cause of the Yuzu and the spiciness adds a nice kick! ($13.95) Christopher Roll - it's spicy and the it's topped with crab. It has both tuna and salmon. I thought it was a bit drier than I'd like it to be but still good ($14.95) Green tea ice cream: each person gets a free scoop of green tea ice cream. It's a smoother silkier ice cream. Pretty good. Edamame - they give this for free as an appetizer. These tastes well! Seating Thy have 4 Booths that sear atleast 6 people. They also have a few seats at the bar. I think there were some non booth tables on the side too. Parking: In a plaza Service: Service was really great! She came back to check in on us many times when we were thinking what to order. She would refill our green teas frequently. Some times when we were only a 1/3 done. Very attentive! read more

Ordered the chicken karaage. Tasted terrible being very dry and chewy. I could only eat a few pieces. Service was good. Also had a roll which was also just ok. Some of the fish tasted hard...just not that soft texture you like to bite through. Additionally had a spicy tuna roll. Overwhelming amount of sriracha and just wasn't enjoyable. The place was very well staffed and it looked like the chefs were busy making online orders. I really wanted to like this place. read more

Yummy sushi, complimentary tea, edamame and green tea ice cream after (meh tho)! Also, no wait on a Saturday night! -SF Giants roll was delicious! It had my 2 favourites too - salmon and unagi! Good portion size, decent price. -Bento box - they gave hella chicken katsu. The sashimi was cut kinda weird but tasted okay (weirdly thin and uneven). Saba shioyaki was okay. -The salad (that comes with the bento box) had waay too much dressing. I like honey mustard dressing but the greens were literally drenched in sauce. Overall, solid sushi place - I'd stick to the rolls and the more basic bento box items (not sashimi). read more

Horrible customer service. Manager purposely skip sitting my party for other people who arrived after us. Had me sign in then proceeded to sit others who arrived after my party without signing in. Two other groups had similar amount of people as mine but got seated right away. No apology from manager at all. Told me to wait he'll have a table. No accountability for bad service. I never leave reviews but thought people should know about this experience before it be comes theirs. Was trying to take my brother out before he will be going through a procedure and this is what we experienced. AVOID THIS PLACE!! Manager then pretended not to understand English all of a sudden after I was telling him what he did to use wasn't right. Funny thing is he spoke English perfectly fine before. Beware customer service is not a priority here. read more

I frequent MandRo next door and I noticed that this O' Sushi would always have a lot of patrons so I decided to check it out and boy am I glad I did. First you are warmly greeted by the host and seated. After ordering you are brought a complimentary appetizer like gyoza and post dinner you get complimentary ice cream. The rolls here are pretty big and they give you bigger portions compared to other sushi joints. Everything tasted fresh and they were generous with the sauce on the special rolls, I know that isn't everyones cup of sake but that's the way I like my special rolls. I love the atmosphere of this place because they have plenty of booth seating which is great because it gives you plenty of privacy which I actually prefer when dining out. I guess you could say I'm a fan of this place, I'd definitely come back to dine in but for now I suggest you order takeout or door dash from this place to support them during this time. read more

I have enjoyed O'Sushi since they've opened. I try other local ones but always go back here. Unfortunately prices everywhere are climbing, and same for here. Sushi is still amazing, my favorite is the A's Roll or the Mori awasi. We ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner (photo attached), unfortunately it fell short of good today. Overcooked and dry, we barely even ate it. Will still to the sushi. Phone in orders usually take 30 minutes and don't recall issues with salmon in the past, even for to-go. read more

I have no idea why rate for this restaurant is so high. I had Chirashi bowl and rolls. It's a first time threw away remained fishes in Chirashi bowl. Super fishy and terrible condition of fishes made me crazy. Even rolls were horrible :( my family was hungry though. Worst Japanese(not authentic.) restaurant EVER. Do not recommend this restaurant unless you waste your money. read more

Had food door dashed, and will have to say the #1 roll was so good! I really liked the crab meat, as it didn't taste like the imitation kind, and the spicy sauce was so good! Fish was really fresh! They also have lots of different items for the bento like fish katsu which was a pleasant surprise! The sesame chicken got soggy by the time it got to us, but I think it would be good in the restaurant. Overall, really great, would definitely have the #1 roll again. read more

This sushi joint in the East bay is one of the best sushi places I have ever been at. I have been a regular since maybe 2016. My top favorite is the #1 roll. That sushi lives up to its name for sure. There are several other dishes as well that I love. Love the creamery ice cream they get from local. Definitely try different rolls and see which is your favorites . I haven't been back here since the 2020 pandemic. I am ready to come back to order some for my birthday this year :) hope it is the same. read more

Honestly, this place was better than I expected. Sometimes I feel like a sushi snob and am very picky about my fish, esp since I can be very sensitive to unfresh or bad tasting raw fish. Located next to Mandro teahouse, the small interiors is cozy. Korean owned and Chinese run, this place doesn't exactly scream "friendly" because the chefs behind the counter are busy talking to themselves and the owners are "yelling" at each other in Korean. More so of how old people talk as a cultural thing and not " I f***ing hate you" kind of yell, lol. Anyways when sat down, they immediately give you a small bowl of edamame which is nice. Got the: - Sake dinner set $20.95 12 large pieces of salmon sashimi. Surprisingly was really buttery and almost melt in your mouth. Some of the reviews say the fish here isn't that fresh so that's why I was hesitant to try this for the longest time. Either I got really lucky last night, or they are better than people give them credit for. Comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. Salad, not worth commenting on but holy mofo, that miso soup is salty AF - saltier than your ex kinda salty. I had to down a cup of tea to wash that flavor and grittiness out. - Tempura app $8.95 Decent crunch and very generous portions. Brocccoli, mushroom [huge. I love mushrooms], asparagus, kobacha, onion, 2 shrimps, 2 carrots, 2 potatos? [judging by color but didn't eat], 1 zucchini [also yum and thankfully not soggy]. I hope I'm not missing anything... but this could easily be shared between 2, or 3 for a lighter app. - Loki roll $12.95 I'm not huge on rolls but fried unagi sounded interesting. While it was decent because of the unagi sauce, not sure I would get again. Was Aight. Topped with fried unagi, inside has "snow crab" and shrimp tempura. Just tasted heavy and too much rice/breading. - Gyoza - on the house Always thankful for free things but the filling was so sad and was mushy/salty. Pass. - Alaska roll / Philly roll , both 6.95 each and to-go Tastes really meh and the ingredients are not filled completely to the ends of the rolls. Pass. Total: $62.29 before tips. Generally though, I feel this place is "low end" based off their rolls menu, everything is almost a cali roll base and topped with fish. Not for me because I don't want to fill myself on cheap fillers but to some, that's not a deal breaker. Their rolls here also have more rice than I would like too. Would come again if I was intensely craving sushi on a weeknight, but would it be my go to? No. I do live decently close to here so it is definitely convenient but if I had a choice, there is def better in the south bay. read more

Neighborhood sushi joint with delicious rolls. I personally like M&M roll which is tuna, unagi, with tempura shrimp. Highly recommend! I got tofu which was fresh and soft but the sauce was a little bland for my liking. Nothing a little soy sauce won't fix. read more

Unassuming from the outside, this place does not disappoint. Opening at 4:30 pm, (lunch too I believe) you probably won't be the first in line. Friendly greetings from the staff as you enter, and you will be seated very quickly. Unless they have a wait of course. Complementary edamame are served giving you time to look over the menu. They have a good combination of different appetizers sushi and grilled items... Including the Galbi Ribs that we love :-) Our favorite rolls are the "Kiss of Fire" and the "Red Dragon". Both a little spicy and a lot of tastiness! TV screens throughout on silent, otherwise it hasn't been too noisy the few times we've been there. Great food, great service... and complimentary ice cream to boot! I love this place. You will too. read more

Excellent foods-- especially the caterpillar rolls, veggie udon, chicken Katsu, Kamikaze roll, dragon roll. My personal fave is the 4 corner salad with salmon, tuna, avocado and imitation crab with seaweed in the middle. Very delicious . Service is always fast, even when it took several tries to get through the phone. We only do take outs as we have an elderly parent who don't like to go out but loves the Katsu. read more

Small place but fast service. We were sat as soon as we walked in and had menus ready at the table. There were two servers today and it seemed liked they worked as a team both willing to help with anything we needed. Once we ordered we got our soup and salads within minutes. The sushi rolls and appetizers followed right after. The Green valley roll was great, fresh and very well seasoned. The spicy tuna roll was not bad either, It came hot and spicy with a crunch on the outside. The appetizer tempura was really well fried and the veggies were soft in the inside. We all got a bento box or charbroiled entrees. It was a decent size meal but for some reason they wanted to charge us $3 more if we got the same option twice on the bento box. I had to order different things with teriyaki chicken so I can mix and match myself. I didn't get what the problem was but o well. The main entrees were not bad but also didn't wow us. We'd be come back for the Green Valley roll more than the entrees. All and all we were satisfied this Sunday afternoon. read more

4/26/20 Open during the Covid-19 SIP Mandate. I have been wanting to try O'Sushi in Newark long before the Covid-19 SIP Mandate. They are quite popular in our area and always so busy with the line usually out the door and spilling onto the sidewalk. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and my husband felt so bad about not being able to celebrate with a nice dinner out, he decided to pick up my favorite...SUSHI! We ordered: 30 piece sashimi, a spider roll, a tuna tower and a 3 item bento box with beef teriyaki, chicken katsu and tempura for my son who doesn't like sushi. I can now see why so many people love O'Sushi. The sushi was good quality, very fresh and delicious. It was more than enough food for 4 people. I would definitely return to O'Sushi in the near future. Hopefully one day we can eat there and try their Omakase. read more

They are definitely not using fresh ingredients. I tried this place 2 years ago and had a bad experience. I thought I'd give them another try in an effort to support local business. Similar experience again. The tuna and chicken had a distinctly peculiar flavor that I recognized as old and not fresh. While my heart goes out to restaurants trying to make it during the pandemic, I can't support a restaurant that doesn't take good care with its product. I had to waste all of this food. read more

3.5/5 stars! Overall, this restaurant is good, but nothing stands out too much. Service is good. The employees are very polite. Food is good. Everything was ok, but I've had better. The portions are fairly generous, so it's definitely worth what you're paying. I always like getting the bento box here for lunch. The most recent time I came, the chicken teriyaki tasted a little too charred, but it continues to be one of my favorite dishes. The chicken katsu is also really good. O'Sushi HOOKS IT UP THOOO. If you're looking for great service, I'd definitely come here for dinner. When we sat down, they gave us complimentary edamame. After placing our order, even when we didn't order an entree, the server brought over complimentary soup AND salad. During our meal, she brought out complimentary gyoza too. And at the end of our meal, yup you guessed it, complimentary dessert too. I mean, c'mon! How many times do I have to say 'complimentary' until you're convinced that they really know how to take care of their customers? Insane! The sushi is pretty good and similar to any other sushi place with their special rolls and sauce. Price wise is $10-15 per roll. Their ankimo was very tasty if you're into monk liver, portions were a bit small but the plating was impeccable. read more

Some of the best and overall freshest sushi rolls you'll ever try reside right at this very location. I've had a handful of favorite spots around the Bay Area but not only is this location just down the street from me, but it's become my favorite sushi spot, ever. From the courteous servers to the cleanliness maintained, everything is almost perfect. You can't go wrong with their Lion King roll, which is a favorite of mine, and always turns out spectacular! I'll eventually try one of everything from their menu because out of all the rolls I've had so far, none have disappointed. If I could give O' Sushi more than just 5 stars I would because it honestly deserves more. You WILL NOT be disappointed! read more

This is weird. This is the one sushi place I would recommend you get a cooked entree over the sushi. And if you know me, I'm a huge sushi guy! I highly recommend ordered their three-item bento because their portions are quite nice. The salmon teriyaki and the sesame chicken are "fire"! I also ordered rolls like the lion king, #1 roll, and others. They were all fine but I've seen larger rolls in other restaurants in the nearby cities. They do make nice ika (squid) and ama ebi (sweet shrimp) nigiri. The ika is sliced well and lightly torched to make it easy to bite and the ama ebi has the fried head along with it, which to me, is a must. So overall, if you're into sushi rolls, head somewhere else nearby; but if you're craving cooked Japanese food, run those bentos and you can't go wrong! read more

Because of Covid 19, we thought we would support our local Restaurants. My family and I were hungry for Japanese food so we read the reviews for o'Sushi and was satisfied to give it a go. However, We were deeply disappointed with our order. We ordered the 3 item bento and the Sunomono w/octopus salad. The chicken katsu was bland, no taste at all. And we counted 8 tiny pieces of octopus in our salad (see picture). It was covered with cucumbers. If you pay $7.95 for the salad, you'd expect to receive more octopus (or does the cucumber cost more than $5 now?). We get it, everyone is doing their best these days but really? For a first time customer, this did not give us a good impression of your restaurant. read more

Great food and even better service! I'll definitely keep coming back here. This is, by far, the best sushi restaurant I've been to. Some of my favorites include house specialties such as: - Tuna Tower (it's not on the menu but you can ask the chef himself to make it for you) - Loki Roll (crispy fried unagi with crab and tempura) - Kuri Kuri Roll (fresh fish wrapped with cucumber instead of nori) - M&M Roll (it has spicy tuna, unagi, and tempura. What's not to love?) This may be a sushi restaurant but I particularly love their beef teriyaki (can be ordered as part of a bento box or as an entree) and the tempura. The best part of it all is the free green tea ice cream for dessert! O' Sushi definitely gives the best bang for your buck and I highly recommend trying it at least once. read more

It is a…read moretiny buffet style spot with no seating inside, and a pictures plastered on the wall for the menu. The server was incredibly kind and really loaded up my plate. In terms of the food, I ordered chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, kung pao chicken, as well as hot and sour soup. The food was just okay, I would personally skip the hot and sour soup but I did enjoy the chow mein. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's definitely worth a try.
