Terrible. My husband and I were craving some Mexican and decided to give this place a try. First off, we asked the worker for any suggestions on what to eat and they weren't helpful at all. My husband got the nachos which were brought out from under a heat lamp, then we were told there was no more guacamole. Yet, 10 minutes later everyone in line behind us had some. Were we offered any? Stopped in with my husband because we are from the mainland and everyone says this place is "Hawaii's Chipotle" unfortunately it's not. I wasn't very impressed with the food at all. We ordered nachos and I felt like I could have made the same at home. My hubs got a burrito and loved it so that's good. Me and my mom went here for a quick lunch in Hawaii. The place was a little hard to find, but once you enter there is a gorgeous view of the beach and ocean! It was fast service, and everything tasted delicious!! OMG, that burrito was huge! For those who are health conscious, you will not have to worry too much about over indulging because I got a workout lifting the burrito into my mouth like a 5 lbs. dumbbell with every bite. The burrito was big enough to fill me up for 2 meals! I'm obsessed with bean and cheese burritos and I never thought it'd be so hard to find something so simple here in Hawaii. This burrito did not satisfy that craving, but it was good enough. I think the pico de gallo was a bit too watery and made the burrito soggy. None of the salsas I chose were spicy enough for me and the beans weren't very flavorful. The price was very reasonable at $6.50 for such a huge serving. Although this is not my favorite burrito, I thought the service was quick and friendly and the parking was way easier than I expected for the area. I pulled into that corner lot thinking $2 wasn't too bad for parking, but to my surprise, it was free because I got out of there within 15 minutes. There are plenty of other options to try that I might enjoy more and they also serve margaritas! I will be back to try them out! read more

Pretty much the template for a decent UHM (university-area) fast food place for its moderately multicultural student population: * Relatively fresh, healthy foods (no hormones in the meat, if I recall correctly), light on the oil and salt, with the customer given various choices of what to eat (taco or burrito or salad or whatevers), vegetarian and vegan ones included. In other words: not gross and don't-give-a-shit (unlike, say, Taco Tuesday's messy mixes at Whole Foods Kahala). Management's new and competitive enough to care about such foodie details. * Not bad service--counter consists of a chain of workers who do various tasks (order intake, putting of basic rice/beans and meat on your burrito/taco/salad/etc., condiment doling-out, and cashiering). So it's basically an assembly line with a "start here" sign at the beginning and payment at the end. * Moderately yummy and filling, without being authentic to anything, yet enough thoughtful blends of the basic ingredients (e.g. Cilantro lime rice as an alternative to Spanish-y version), to be interesting. This is no Buho Cantina y Cantina or El Mariachi or Serg's. It's more for U.S. college students than afficionados of Mexican (or Latin American) cuisine. Is OMG what Tex-Mex cuisine is? Or simply updated American fast food for the millennium? I have no idea. * Priced okay: I had a bean and cheese burrito somewhere under $7 but added extra grilled veggies for a buck more and chili con queso dip/sauce for $2 extra. Most of the basic choices were more pricey, starting around $8.50 and heading up from there (i.e. meat choices). Like what you'd find at a research-university lunch wagon/food truck lineup, but indoors with cazh seating and A/C. Sometimes that's all you need, after long minutes of walking over concrete and asphalt, from the university to your parking space or bus stop or job or what-have-you, in the heat of a dryish Hawaiian summer. Let's see if this is enough, though, to outlast similar places like Diego's and Maui Tacos. read more

Food: Pretty awesome we have a Chipotle-type of establishment now (I'm aware of verde and BC Burrito previously, but their food is okay), and it's very close to Chipotle in terms of taste and quality. I have a barbacoa burrito, chipotle sauce, refried beans, spanish rice, sour cream and cheese. There's a "Diablo" sauce, which I'll assume uses Diablo Grande peppers. Pretty hot, but pales in comparison to habanero peppers and up. Burrito was huge and filling, very very very satisfied with the food and I will return. Atmosphere/Location/Other: Service is fast and they have Jarritos soda's to go with everything. Unfortunately they didn't have a bunch of hot sauces to try, there was only one of the table which I'm going to guess is Tapatio. C'mon guys, there's tons of hot sauces out there. Just a suggestion. Location is very visible on King St, we parked on University yada yada parking sucks everywhere. TL;DR: Oahu Mexican Grill (aka OMG...no brownie points for that sorry) is definitely worth trying. read more

Solid entry in the saturated Honolulu tex-mex-beachy-taco field. I had a barbacoa bowl: the meat was super flavorsome and the portion was large. Delish! My husband got the steak burrito, which was similarly big, but the pieces of steak I had were a bit tough. I was also disappointed in the lack of variety in salsa options- 2 choices, green and red- and that they didn't offer jalapenos as a topping. Had a margarita- delish! Burrito with roasted veggies. It was on the cold side from sitting out too long. But tried the famous cilantro lime- very good! Pick de gallo was with a tad too much garlic for my taste. But great for a fast spot to grab some Mexican food on the island. Not my favorite but I know I'm super lucky to have lived in SF and walking distance to the taquerias in the mission district. Nothing beats those Suizas. Yummy . . . First time here with my kids after spending the morning at the beach. They had lots of options, I like that they had some vegan options too that was not just rice and beans. Service was okay. The guy at the counter that was helping us was very nice and patient as I tried to order with three kids. When we first came in we were the only ones at the counter ordering but as we were finishing up on our last orders people started coming in and a line had formed. This was a very good place to eat. As we approached the location it seemed like it would be a little hole in the wall, but much to our surprise the restaurant was very nice inside. The food tasted very fresh, and the staff was friendly! There is hardly any Mexican food places in the area, so this was a nice change from most of the Asian fusion food. I would recommend this to people who like to customize their orders and who are looking for something different than sushi, ramen, or udon. You won't be disappointed. read more

Pretty legit. Closest thing to Chipotle that I can get on this rock. I had a grilled chicken burrito with cilantro lime rice and black beans, topped with corn salsa, chipotle, and guacamole. The corn salsa is nice. The guac was bland tbh, and I suggest you order it on the side, because by default they put it in your burrito. Food- we got the rice bowl. It was ok. Nothing like the Mexican food I had in New Mexico but We enjoyed it. We choose the chicken as our meat. The chicken was well seasoned and the veggies ( lettuce , tomatoes , and the rest we choose) were fresh. I do think they should put more lettuce . That was disappointing. The lettuce was lightly sprinkled on. Next time I'll ask for more. It was kind of ridiculously lilttle lettuce but maybe the server wasn't paying attention but then again neither was I . I'm sure if I asked him to put more he would have. I will be back for the food . It actually tasted on the healthier side. Service- they were really nice and explained how to order. Well, let me just say, we haven't touched our burritos yet because the nachos were generously layered with rice, beans, shredded beef, cheese, lettuce, pico, sour cream AND guacamole. Its so perfect! What a Great find ! Great Staff from the time you walk thru the door tell your ready to leave. Food was Outstanding and the drinks were perfect. As we were sitting down I noticed they had daily speicals as then I remembered the server telling us this was $3.00 tequila shots all day and street tacos for $3.00.
