This review is strictly for the idiot owner. You don't need "Groupons" to save your ass from going out of business entirely, all you need to do is get rid of your completely incompetent cook and bartender. Thirty minutes for a burger and onion rings, (onions the careless cook forgot to prepare) within the 30 minutes I was waiting, it was 8:24 PM and there were no customers, (Don't take my word for it dude, go check your receipts). No customers for you, on Ocean Fucking Beach no less, 8:24 pm to 9:04 PM, There were absolutely no customers for you. How cool is that Mr. Groupon Man? I continued to order a slice or two of Avacado with the burger, (here you need to think upsale, but it doesn't matter, either way, I never received the fuken avocado. I also order a Philly steak sandwich too, but never received it, and was not charged for it, (I noticed this error while I waited 30 minutes for a burger to arrive; how so very unfortunate for you, the owner. Money walking out the door. In my case, you definitely lost $20.00 plus the ones who read this review will also cost you money. Groupon will not bail ur ass out of this dude! Imagine for a moment how many other customers and money is walking out the door too? In short, your cashier and cook are fukin you in the azz. You lazy idiot. read more

We chose this place because of the rooftop view of the ocean at sunset. It was very nice only slight obstructions from electric lines. They had decent greasy burgers. The service was excellent. The beer was tasty. The atmosphere was relaxed and grungy, not really my scene, but decent enough for the activities of that particular day. read more

Give this place a 3/5 for even food and prices. Wings are 3/5, wings were cooked well but the sauce was just too salty. Mozzarella sticks 5/5, great flavor, amazing crunch and cheese! Came here to have a drink before dinner. Sat up on the rooftop to watch the rooftop. It's a little grimey, reminds me of a college bar. The plastic glass obstructs the view of the sunset and needs a good clean. Beer menu on their website was incorrect, had a lot smaller selection. Stayed for a drink watched the sunset and moved on. read more

Cool spot to hang out and enjoy a beautiful day. Grabbed some lunch and sat outside on the top floor. I had the shrimp tacos which were really good and very flavorful. Our table shared the chips and salsa of which I was not a fan. The chips were super hard and tasted stale and the salsa had a strange spice that did not go very well. I think 5 stars for the fact that the wings are crispy. Honey sriracha is my favorite. The hummus platter is a nice fresh snack also alongside one of their beers or a guest tap. Obviously 5 stars for the ocean view at the top too. read more

We really enjoyed our visit today! We were able to go up to the third floor which overlooks the ocean, and have a peaceful and delicious meal. Their fish and chips is beautifully crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside, and I had a burger with spicy aïoli sauce that was just right. Highly recommend! read more

OB brewery is located on a pretty lively street! There are 3 levels - bottom floor with the beer garden and coffee shop attached (coffee shop open mornings only), second level with minimal seating, and the rooftop with a bar and amazing views! You can rent out the rooftop for events as well. The Hop on Board IPA is my favorite and so smooth for IPA lovers. The Roxy street tacos were a little spicy with the jalapeños added in. It comes with 3 (2 pictures because I ate 1 too quick!) and they are pretty filling for a traditional 'street taco.' The burger and salad were tasty. The salad looks small but adding a meat added more flavor. The fries with the burger will need to be shared because it's very filling! Beautiful rooftop view right near the beach/pier! read more

I stopped by OB Brewing for a late lunch/early happy hour. They offer a full menu of American favorites along with their in-house and guest beers from across San Diego. I tried their red holiday IPA and their porter and they were both excellent. I tried the spicy fish tacos and they were decent. Not the spiciest, but the portion was generous and everything tasted fresh. The rooftop bar has lovely views of the ocean, don't miss that! read more

Nothing beats the rooftop view here! Absolutely nothing. Great place to grab drinks, though we've had the fries and mozzarella sticks, but neither of those were stand out food items! Great view! I've visited a handful of times and have had consistent experiences. The beer is great, the food is good, and the service is good. There hasn't been any standout food, but I know I'll enjoy a snack there any time I go. The pickle poppers were spicy/very seasoned - I wasn't exactly expecting that considering they come with jalapeño ranch! Honestly, go for the view. I love how you can see OB and the beach and have the choice of sunshine or shade during the day. There are games on the second floor. It is counter service on the first floor, so you carry your beer up and they bring the food to you. The servers are always nice and it's a comfortable, chill environment. Overall, I would definitely visit again. read more

We were looking for a casual place to eat in OB and found the OB Brewery. We're glad we did! Here is what we noticed: - We ordered on the first floor, grabed our beers, and then found a place to eat on the top level. When you order, you get a number and they deliver your food to your table. It took a while, but we weren't in any hurry and enjoyed just sitting in the sun with our beers for a while. - Great seating on the roof level, amazing views, and really fun casual vibe - Excellent selection of beers! - Diverse casual menu. I had the salmon sandwich B.L.A.S.T., which was so good. My wife had the Roxy Street Shrimp Tacos, and I got to eat one...it was also really good. My son had the Cilantro Burger and my daughter--both liked their food too. Bottom line: Great casual place in OB..if we lived closer, I would go there often! read more

I loved my bartender! She was funny! The house dog was so cute and cuddly! I didn't know what to try so I got the house flight. Four 4 oz pours for $10 so I could get a good idea about there beers. The Jalapeño beer was the best and then the red was second. read more

Very disrespectful and careless staff. Not autism friendly, tried to blame my step son for braking a foosball table that was already destroyed. As nobody else was playing on the table or around he was just enjoying himself when a plastic piece fell off that was already loose and broken. Allowed other guest to disrespect us and when brought up to management she told us "nobody is taking you serious" Terrible spot overall read more

Another 5 star experience at OB brewery this past Sunday. My friend called earlier in the week to reserve a space for her birthday and they roped off a large section of the roof for us, which was so nice. We trickled in and out all day but had a nice size group and had plenty of space to sit and walk around and chat. We also had a bar and bartender upstairs so we didn't have to keep going downstairs to order. And they kept all our tabs open but separate. Beautiful day on the roof for a Sunday Funday. read more

I ended up taking 2/3 of my meal home because the portions are big enough for two.

Ruby was the first person I spoke with when I initially called, and she was lovely. The general manager Amber made planning easy - there were no deposits or minimums, I was able to order platters in advance, and she was great with communication. When I mentioned that the group loved Rumplemintz shots, Amber even set some aside after ordering extra bottles (and had it cold and ready when we came in). I was able to meet and thank Amber after we first came in, and she was so warm and welcoming and even gave us a few Rumplemintz shots on the house to kick things off (thank you again, Amber!). The reviews don't lie in terms of how good the food here is. When we arrived a little early, they had our platters ready almost immediately and kept them well-heated. We had platters of the sticky garlic wings and a mix of the garlic and regular fries, and ordered pretzels and queso and the elote dip à la carte for the tables. Everything was amazing and the sticky garlic wings and garlic fries were such a hit that we ordered a few extra plates of them as well (even though the platters were perfect for our group size). EVERYONE raved about them. We had a small amount left to bring home that were enjoyed the next evening and were still amazing after being reheated. A few people in our party got additional food items as well (burgers) and they were hits as well. The drinks were also phenomenal, with a special shoutout for the espresso martini and the Purple Haze mocktail (that a few folks liked so much they got an alcoholic version). We had a person in our group who can't drink and it was nice to see how inclusive they are with having a few signature mocktail options. The pricing was very reasonable, especially for the platters (they were perfectly sized, and we only ordered a little extra because the food was so good and we'd wanted to take some home). Highly recommend getting platters with a larger group here - you can pre-order and they keep everything well-heated for you the whole time. Most importantly, this place is a vibe and every single staff member we interacted with was SO KIND and accommodating. The service was top-notch and I wish I had everyone's names to thank them individually (thanks to everyone working Saturday, 8/1 evening!). I am a bookworm and love reading so this event was perfect! This event also unveiled the top 10 books for each category including adults, teens and children. I learned that over 750+ book entries were received! Wow! At my table, I ended up meeting a librarian, a teacher and a publisher. The librarian was part of the selection committee and she suggested so many good books! She mentioned a book about octopus conversation in the atolls and my ears perked up. The book is Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and its on my shortlist to read soon! Waiting for it on Libby! OK. back to the venue. We had the side part of the bar and everything was outside so that was nice. Service was great and Zach did a great job getting everyone's orders. I started off with a special edition One Book, One Brew beer, brewed in the Kolsch style and limited edition beer by Chula Vista Brewery. Nice, crisp and summery beer! I've driven past this place more times than I can count, and every time I pass it on the 5, I see a line of people wrapped around the building waiting to get inside. Naturally, I had to find out what all the fuss was about--and let me just say, Starlite is giving "San Diego's cool kid who knows all the best places to be." This has to be one of the most happening spots in San Diego right now, and after experiencing it for myself, I completely understand why. Quick tip before you go: make reservations if you're planning a full night out. You can sometimes walk in early, but reservations let you choose between three distinct areas--and trust me, the ambiance is part of the experience. First, there's The Cave--dark, intimate, and effortlessly sexy. It has that tucked-away vibe that makes you lean in and go, "Okayyy, this is cute!" Perfect for date night or a cozy dinner when you want something more private. Then there's the indoor/outdoor space, which I absolutely loved. Palm trees and greenery create a lush, California-botanical feel that's elevated without trying too hard. And then there's the entry/bar area--lively, social, and very "we came for dinner but somehow stayed for cocktails for three hours." No matter where you sit, you're getting the full Starlite experience. THE FOOD We came to eat--and Starlite delivered. A friend had already been raving about the burger, so I knew exactly what I wanted. The burger. Period. What I didn't realize? It already comes with fries. So yes... I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye. Flavorful, strong, bold, delicious all at the same time. Unfortunately (?), this was a noble experiment so I'll forever be chasing the white whale of what this drink was. But that's the allure.

We walked in around 12:40 without a reservation. They close at 2:30, but we were still seated pretty quickly. Every employee we interacted with was genuinely friendly. The service never felt rushed even though we came close to close. I also had no idea we walked in during their "US Hour" from 12:00 to 2:30, so that ended up being a nice surprise. They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. This ended up being one of those meals that reminded me why I keep a running list of places I want to try. Great food. Great service. A fun happy hour that I accidentally stumbled into.
