    Wood Roasted Spanish Octopus
    Alina L.

This is the most flawless dinner experience I have ever had. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. We made a reservation and we got a very nice seating. The server came by to say hi and introduce us the menu and daily specials. Not like the normal restaurant, the introduction is so detailed and vivid and they are truly familiar with the steak origin and cut. We ordered two whiskey drinks to start with, they are great and generous with the drinks. House bread is super buttery and fluffy. We ordered the grilled octopus as the appetizer. I didn't have any hope, we tried a lot of octopus in the past, they all tasted rubbery and I don't know why my husband wants to try again but it is his birthday. The octopus is the best octopus I have ever had! Super tender and soft and extremely flavorful. Then we ordered the bone marrow, the presentation is amazing. The biggest bone marrow I have ever seen with garlic truffle butter and lit on fire. We ordered the corn fed NY strip & mash potato to share since we are getting full. They were able to split the steak to cook different temperatures for us. The steak is the best steak I have ever had also. It comes with extremely hot plate that's going to burn your finger off and servant keep mentioning it. I was shocked that they are able to keep the steak so juicy and char even on such a hot plate . Every bite of the steak is marvelous even though our stomach is already gonna explode. And what surprised me more is the mash potatoes, I seriously hate mash potatoes in general but this mash potatoes completely changed my mind! I'm letting myself to see the possibilities again. Last but not least we got the coconut cream pie for my husband. My husband made a very good coconut cream pie already. But this coconut cream is still surprised us. Super creamy with crispy coconut nip inside, every bite is giving an explosive coconut flavor but not overly sweet. Normally high end restaurants are kinda overpriced and overrated with our experience, you always find one or two items that you feel like this is not worth it. But every second in ocean 48 shocked me about the food quality, the service, and the exceptional flavors. Even the bathroom is super clean with great speaker and a bidet. I have so much admiration for the chef and hope this restaurant will remain this type of high quality. We will definitely be back!

Ambience is spectacular. From the backsplash waterfall doubling as step n repeat, to the main entrance of welcoming hostesses you are immediately mesmerized by the aesthetics. The open display seafood window is mouth-watering. The room with a pool adjacent to dining tables is a romantic experience. Our menu choices were sinfully enjoyed by our party. Recommend trying the chicken fried lobster appetizer and for dessert the beignet tree. Cocktails and mocktails were enjoyed by all, and our server, Andrew, made the experience a memorable one. Our family owns pizza restaurants in OC so we look forward to evenings when we can dress and dine in fashion. The establishment took an extra step of service to call the next day to ensure we enjoyed our experience. We will be back. Thank you.

A true 5+ stars experience! Starting with the incredible service from every single staff member greeting from the valet guys, welcoming of the hostesses and super friendly and helpful servers! The decor and the ambiance is beautiful and to top it off absolutely amazing taste of every single dish that was beautifully presented! Probably the best octopus dish outside of Spain and Portugal! Tender and with excellent seasoning! A cauliflower is a must to order as well! Great restaurant for any occasion! Will be back! Thank you guys!

Top notch restaurant for a celebration. We had a slight change in our party count for our reservations, and hostesses accommodated without issue. We were sat and presented with a hand written card for my birthday. Nice touch. Jason was our server and came over to greet us. He made amazing recommendations. Some of the favorites of the night: -Chicken Fried Lobster Tails -Bone Marrow -Corn Crème Brûlée -Branzino -Bone in Filet The atmosphere is so classy, yet welcoming. Service was top notch. There were so many more things I'd love to try so we will have to come back. Jason did an amazing job, and really took care of us. We would come back for the service he provided alone. It was a great night!

This is a great place to go for special occasions and celebrations. The food is good and you can get doll up for dindin and drinks. We tried dry aged ribeye this time and it was delicious!!!! Also tried the Cesar salad and that was good too. It comes with 2 poached eggs - great dish to share. Dry aged steak- this was so good!! My only advice is to be mindful of how you want your steak to be cooked since they bring a HOT plate out. We might ask for sharing plates that are normal temperature next time. The steak was cooked a little more than I had preferred. Ultimate warm vanilla caramel cake with vanilla ice cream- wow that cake was good too. Let me tell you about the bread- freshly baked and delicious!! Salad, steak and dessert was all good! Staff was very nice. Great job Ocean 48 Team!!

Ocean 48 is my top choice for steakhouse in OC. The service was great. I've been to all locations but this one in NB is truly the best. The decors, and settings are stunning. I couldn't resist to eat a piece of bread and it was addictive. My filet was perfectly charred and cooked the way I like it. The meat was tender and juicy. The oysters were fresh and delicious. I could easily eat two dozen. The old-fashioned was on point. I enjoy trying out different steakhouses, but Steak48/Ocean48 is definitely a must-visit at least every three to four months.

I wanted to leave an honest review of Ocean 48. The food was good. Not the most impressive meal I've ever had, but definitely good. The service from our waiters was outstanding. They consistently checked on us, made sure everything was perfect, and genuinely made us feel taken care of throughout the night. If I were rating only the wait staff, this would easily be a 5-star review. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot because of the hosts at check-in. Their attitude came across as cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. First impressions matter, and instead of feeling welcomed, we felt judged. I understand this is Newport Beach, and there are all levels of wealth and lifestyles here. Some guests may spend more, some less, and that's perfectly fine. But one thing I've learned is that you can never judge a guest by how they look. Sometimes the people who appear the most casual are the ones spending the most. In our case, our bill was around $1,500, and with gratuity it came close to $1,700. That's not the point of mentioning it--the point is that assumptions based on appearance can be very misleading. Anyone making a reservation at a restaurant like Ocean 48 already understands they're coming to enjoy a premium dining experience and spend money. Every guest should feel equally welcomed, respected, and appreciated from the moment they walk through the door. To management: your wait staff is excellent and represents your restaurant very well. I encourage you to have a conversation with your host team about customer service and treating every guest with the same level of respect, regardless of appearance. A warm welcome can make all the difference. The food was good, the service from our waiters was exceptional, but the attitude at check-in is something that needs improvement.

I came here for an anniversary dinner and everything from the food, ambiance, and service was standout! Also shout out to our server Rachel for her stellar service. When we arrived they asked if we would like white or dark linen, foreshadowing to the top notch service that we'd experience throughout our meal. We both agreed that this was once of the best dining experiences we've had in OC. I've already recommended Ocean48 to many of my friends and coworkers, and two have already made their reservations for this month! Absolute gem and a fantastic addition to OC. Can't wait to come back and bring my parents! The food: * Dinner rolls - these came out soon after we were seated. They were perfectly warm and buttery, and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. * Deviled eggs with crispy shrimp - tangy and delicious, the shrimp added so much flavor. * Crispy Shrimp - perfectly crispy with a slightly sweet sauce coating. Probably my favorite dish of the night. My boyfriend isn't a fan of shrimp and he said this was also his favorite along with the rolls. * Bone in Ribeye - perfectly juicy and fatty flavor. One of my favorites of the night. * NY Strip - soft and tender, a leaner cut than the ribeye. * Potatoes au Gratin - cheesy and delicious, a classic done perfectly. * Cauliflower - the most unique dish of the night. The basil aioli makes this so memorable and a satisfying yet light side. * Cookies and Cream Gelato Cake - by far the best complimentary dessert we've ever had! Perfectly sweet ending to a decadent meal. * Chocolate crinkle cookies - they brought these out with the check. Semisweet soft cookies that we couldn't resist even though we were full. Came to Ocean 48 to celebrate my 27th birthday! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and we were seated immediately as we had a reservation. Despite a rocky start and an accidental spill of water, our service was incredible. Our waitress was so attentive and incredibly kind. She offered us to complementary desserts, which were amazing. The food was phenomenal and incredibly filling more than I expected. made the experience super special, thank you so much.

This past Saturday, we chose Newport Beach for our date night, and it was nothing short of perfection. From the moment we arrived, the service was first-class. The ambiance was incredibly sexy, the ideal setting for a special occasion. While waiting for our table, we were lucky enough to snag a spot in the bar area, where the magic truly began. I ordered the Stone Fruit Martini, which was hands down delicious. Between the warm welcome at the door and the expert service in the bar, we were off to a fantastic start. Then came the centerpiece of the evening: being seated poolside. The lighting, the water, the reflections, it was absolutely stunning. The dining experience matched the atmosphere perfectly, delivering total quality and luxury vibes. We opted for the ribeye steak, a baked potato, and those incredible jalapeño peppers (I can't recall the exact name), finishing the night with cake, ice cream, and beignets. A special thank you to the incredible team who made the night so memorable: Angelica (I hope this is her name), Tee, Felix, and a sincere note of appreciation to the Assistant General Manager, Rodrigo, for the impeccable hospitality.

My wife and i came about 6 months ago with her family. The food wasn't up to the usual standard. 90% of the food was overly salted and borderline inedible. The manager reached out to us to make it right. We returned and have nothing but praise. The food was great. The service amazing. We were short on time (due to a movie screening) so the staff went above and beyond to allow us to come back after the movie to pick up a fresh dessert. I can't name many places that go above and beyond like this for its customers. Well done and thank you for having us.

Our experience at Oceans 48 was spectacular. John R was an incredible server and truly made our experience memorable. He was personable, attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. We ordered the off menu Wagyu New York steak and it did not disappoint. It had the perfect balance of marbling and meat making every bite rich and flavorful. Shrimp cocktail and oysters were fresh and I loved the presentation of the different sauces on the side. The crispy shrimp deviled eggs were surprisingly good. They paired well together. The caesar salad and grilled octopus was just okay. Octopus was tender but I personally would have preferred it to be cooked just a little longer. The service was truly top notch. At one point a fruit fly flew into my husband's drink. A staff member noticed my husband looking inside his drink and came over to check on us and immediately replaced his beer without hesitation. That level of attentiveness really stood out and speaks volumes because we didnt even have to call it out. Manager came over too to acknowledge the fruit fly lol. Overall an exceptional dining experience. We'll be back. Thanks John and your team for truly taking care of us from start to finish!

Service was incredible the second we walked in the door. The ambiance was nice and I like the open kitchen view. The seafood appetizer was very fresh. The crab and lobster easily slide out of the shells. The shrimps were huge, sweet, and delicious! The cap steak was a special item and it was incredibly tender. With a sprinkle of salt, it was perfect! My favorite side was the corn cream brûlée. Very sweet and not as heavy as I was expecting. The Corn flavor really comes through with a slight toasted flavor. The key lime was well balanced and the right amount of tart and not just sugar. The beignets were really fun especially served high on a tree. It came with 2 sauces as well, but I actually like them plain. We did have a large group in a private room which was amazing! When I stepped out for the restroom, it did seem a bit loud. There may be quieter pockets through the restaurant. If you want to ask when making a reservation.

Birthday beignets! So so delicious and warm. It's a secret menu item (if you will, you have to ask for it).

    Is kids allow?

Yes. But I wouldn't bring a child if they'll just be screaming or yelling. That'll cause a horrible experience for everyone.

Where is the best place to sit we are fun ladies celebrating a big birthday?

Yes. But I recommend you to stay away. I got food poisoning on my birthday there cause of "fresh" Tuna Overpriced in general. Ok food quality (if you don't get sick)

Is there a happy hour menu at the bar?

    Not that I know of

The staff who assisted with seating and bringing silverware were also friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, our dining experience declined once our order was taken. We ordered the Beets Salad as our starter, followed by the Chicken Piccata and Salmon as our entrées. The salad arrived within about five minutes, but we then waited nearly 40 minutes for our main courses without any acknowledgment or update. When I asked our waitress about the delay, her only response was, "Your order was fired 15 minutes ago." When I asked why it had taken so long, she simply repeated the same statement. At no point did she offer a sincere apology or show any empathy for the extended wait. As someone who has owned and managed businesses, I know that delays can happen. However, a simple apology and proactive communication can make all the difference in how guests perceive the experience. The food itself was excellent, and both entrées were well prepared. Unfortunately, the service continued to disappoint. After we finished our meals, our waitress immediately cleared our plates and brought the check without asking whether we would like dessert, coffee, or anything else to finish our evening. That was surprising and made us feel rushed. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that every business can have an off night. In this case, however, the issue was not the kitchen delay--it was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic hospitality. Had our waitress simply apologized, kept us informed, or involved a manager, this review likely would not have been necessary. I hope management views this as constructive feedback. Andrea and several other staff members represented the restaurant exceptionally well, but I believe additional customer service training would help ensure that situations like this are handled with greater professionalism and care in the future.

He had the short rib, al pastor and carnitas. None of them looked very good. I had a pinch of his short rib meat. It tasted like grandma's Sunday pot roast. And just like the tinga chicken it was also dry. My wife's strawberry marg was quite good. The beer menu was very basic. Gotta step it up. When the free chips and salsa, and add on steak are the highlights of the dinner you know that the place needs help.

Gem in a very odd place! Came here on a random Saturday night with some good vibes. The place is…read morevery small and basically is full by 8PM. There is another section hidden behind a door or some sort that opens up a bit later into the night. People come here to chat and drink, so the turnover rate is slow. It's located inside a restaurant and conspicuously placed thru a random door in the hallway, so you might be confused when you get there. As for the drinks, I didn't actually drink myself that night but my friends ordered at least 10 drinks (some of them 3 by themselves), and they all said the drinks were pretty good. I mean, the drinks just kept coming. If you like to yap and drink, this would be the place.
