My favorite restaurant in Paso due to the bountiful vegetarian options on their menu. So far have had their grilled vegetable salad and a cactus and mushroom soup with a sandwich and all were really good. Their homemade bread is the best I've had anywhere. I really like the casual and friendly atmosphere from staff and fellow diners. The best part is I still have a lot of vegetarian items I haven't tried yet and can't wait to the next visit which is pretty rare in this town. The food is eclectic and fresh. They have a variety of different types of cuisine. Pastas, salads, soups, sandwiches, seafood, you name it! It goes down like this, you grab a menu or look at the board behind the counter, order at the counter and then pick out a nice little table inside where you feel like you are in a quaint coffee shop (kind of like Central Perk from the show Friends, hehe). But...there are also a few little tables out in front on the sidewalk and my favorite spot is their little secluded patio in the back. A small little cafe in a small little town, Odyssey World Cafe offers an amazing chorizo breakfast that is unbeatable at its price. Dearly missing it, I may need to travel up to Paso Robles again to experience it again. read more

Ive a local and have been dining at Odyssey for years. They have always been a bit pricey for a cafe but lately their portions have gone down while prices have gained. I talked to the manager and he simply defended the portion as being the same as always and did not get any resolution to my complaint. There are many other places to dine and I will not be returning there again. read more

We stopped in Paso Robles twice on our way to and from LA last week. We thought this was such a wonderful child-friendly place with terrific food and a really sweet staff. The salads are so yummy--I've had the dill tuna and salmon. My husnad had two wonderful soups. I hate ordering off the children's menu since the food is usually processed yuckiness but my 3 year-old wasn't going to eat lettuce so I ordered the chicken legs and was thrilled when they were real chicken legs seasoned plainly but tastily. I was so pleased with the real meat that I could almost overlook that the side was a whole bunch of greasy potato chips. Not sure why they do this in the States. I'd suggest they consider a veggie and/or fruit option as a side on the kid's meal. The place was soooo child-friendly. No one batted an eye when my daughter dumped all the triva pursuit cards they keep at the table on the floor and decided to line them up in rows. There is plenty of space for kids to circle the table while you finish eating and not only do folks not mind but they actually tell you and her how cute she is. The staff listened intently to my husband's request for a wine suggestion and recommended a terrific wine. I'll admit that with an Italian husband and living 45min from Napa we can be a bit snobby with the wines but on our second visit a week later, the staff remembered us, the wine we had had, and we bought a bottle that we enjoyed very much at home. Passed through Paso Robles looking for food on a Sunday afternoon. Had a bit of a hard time. Was looking for a casual place to have a nice lunch with the wife and three year old. This place was perfect and the food was great. My son enjoyed his Pita Pizza. Real plan but perfect kid food. And the wife and si really enjoyed their tomato and basil soup. Stopped by this location amongst many other options in the area. When you walk in, you grab a menu and take a seat anywhere. The menu has a pretty wide array of options with a large choice of sandwiches, salads, and some traditional dinner entrees. Once you decide, you go to the counter and order, a little different as it doesn't have that type of vibe at all. The food quality was fantastic and pretty good portions. I had chicken and a friend ordered a burger and we both really enjoyed them. The service is not traditional, but the food was delivered quickly and they were available for questions and plate removal. The place has a nice "cafe" type atmosphere and a pretty nice wine selection as well. It's worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

I love this place!! You order at the counter and they bring your food out. The food was amazing, lunch-sized portions are served all day and are huge. I had the Alfredo pasta with salmon and it was the best I have ever eaten. Bread is all homemade and delicious. Caesar salad was excellent too! This is a great casual place downtown, if you don't feel like spending big bucks at some of the other local places. read more

We've always loved eating here, ever since our kids were little. We are now empty nesters and I'm happy to say that the food AND service has withstood the test of time! Although I see new servers, they are always very attentive and on their 'A' game! That is a testament to how well they are trained! Besides the art work and wonderful server Oscar my experience was all over not that great... I got a classic turkey sandwich and it was incredibly dry I had to take a drink of water with every bite. It seems like a semi decent dinner restaurant but the drinks are self serve, and you walk up to the counter to oder food. I'd rather be waited on. Ok music though. read more

I like the order at the counter and seat your self places for breakfast because you can refill your coffee mug at your own will. Odyssey is your ordinary brunch joint serving omelets, pancakes, benedicts and french toast. The lemon brioche french toast was not very lemony besides the one slice of lemon garnish they put on top of it but was good nonetheless. The vegetable omelet came was a bit on the bland side until you loaded it with salsa. The side of home fries it came with was really good as was the blueberry muffin. Serving size was good and the prices were decent. I would definitely stop in at Odyssey again if I am in the area. read more

We had an excellent meal at this find in Paso. The Wednesday night special of pasta primavera and a glass of house wine for $17 was tasty and well priced. The ground beef and vegetable soup was delicious. The place is not fancy, but is a comfortable setting. One orders at the counter and the food is brought to your table. This was the second time I have been to Odyssey and I don't know if I will be returning again. The first time I went was on a Sunday and it was fantastic. The service was a little slow even though it wasn't busy but it was worth the wait. However, today when my boyfriend and I went in for lunch it was very busy. Most people already had their food so we figured it wouldn't be too long of a wait. We ordered an Asian Chicken Salad to share and some drinks. After a 45 minute wait we were about to ask for our money back and leave but our salad came out. At first glance it looked pretty good but as we began to mix it we noticed a lot of things that weren't impressive. The chicken looked like it had been just thrown on as an after thought and was very dry almost as if it had been in the fridge for several days. The celery that was mixed in was brown so we had to pick it all out. The only thing we enjoyed about this salad was the flavor of the dressing. read more

Love this place. This is our go to spot in town. It's been around forever, the first time I ate here was 12 years ago with my wife. We moved around California and now that we're back in Paso, I was happy to see its still open. Everything I've tried here is great. Jill and crew make the food and service the tastiest and most pleasant experience ever. The overall ambiance is artsy, ecclectic, simple, but nearly Mediterranean feeling from the outdoor patio space to the front deck area where you can dine and get some fresh air. My favs are the salads, soups, and sandwiches although my coworker digs that chocolate cake you guys have. The hummus plate is yummy as well. Everyone who works there is friendly and treats you really well but most importantly the food is delicious so props to the chef, cooks, servers, bussers, and cashiers. read more

My partner ordered the lamb burger. He said it was the most boring one he'd ever had. No seasoning at all. I got the two small salad combo. The pesto pasta salad was fine, but the Greek salad was just a bunch of tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions with maybe one or two small pieces of olive and a dash of feta tossed in a vat of oil. The bread was quite good, hence the two stars. Live here in town and will never go back. read more

Wow! We'd planned to eat at Artisan across the street but there was a long wait there so we checked other eateries nearby and lucked into this one! Enough variety to please everyone in a group. We had the chicken Parmesan and also the shrimp tacos. Minor issues were spots of black on the avocados and only 4 shrimp spread between 2 tacos. This is the first review I've ever written but felt the obligation to do so. I just ate at Odyssey this past Saturday during the wine festival. Service was friendly and atmosphere was casual. But my day after was nothing of the sort. I had the roasted turkey sandwich (with pesto). It tasted pretty good but it also resulted in me getting FOOD POISONING from it. Needless to say Sunday was one of the worst experiences of my life. However, the two people who were with me really enjoyed their vegetarian meals. So, i may have just been that one unlucky soul. I have eaten here many times, as it is a family favorite lunch spot. I am not really sure why though, as the food is so-so. I am one of those people that has favorite dishes at different places and i always order the same thing. Lately thought, the food here has been getting worse and worse.. The last time we ate lunch there, my salad was horrible. When i took it back up to the counter to order something else, the girl working wanted to charge me full price for another salad! It seems the only consistent thing here is the inconsistency! This is a really cute spot, and most of the staff here is really nice, the owner as well! I guess I must have walked into the Twilight Zone when I opened the front door and walked in. That hideous, filthy green carpet that was so buckled in areas it looked like seconds from the Salvation Army. The floor sloped so bad toward the back of the restaurant that 2 of the tables sat hideously at an angle. The food...YIKES! I ordered the Chicken Marsala and asked if I could substitute the pasta with rice pilaf. The answer was yes, I could. So I ordered. What was placed in front of me was a bowl of chopped chicken over cold, white steamed rice and a shovel full of shredded Parmesan on top. What?? A bowl? Chopped chicken? Shredded Parmesan? Needless to say I sent it back. Ordered the chicken fettuccine that tasted distinctly like powdered sauce mixed with cream. Awful! read more

As always our meal was good. As always I tipped as I ordered and then the food was delivered to our table with a smile. However not ten minutes into our meal, the waitress came back to see if she could clear our plates. We were in the middle of our meal and said we were not quite done. Not five minutes later, a manager came and asked us how long we would be because someone wanted to reserve our patio table. (the only table on the back patio) We told him we needed to finish our meals. We were truly shocked and decided to leave. Never to return. Sorry Odyssey World Cafe, you were out of line. Nice lunch spot. Casual but food is cooked to order and tasty. My Reuben was delicious, best since moving to CA from the East Coast. Several other in my party had various salads which they all enjoyed. Fair number of moms and young children, so the noise level was a bit high. read more

Excellent value. My wife and I each had soup and a half sandwich for dinner and the quality was excellent. The clam chowder that was the best I've had and the sandwich made with tomato bread was outstanding. They also have a selection of local wines at a great price. Good food! Great service- such friendly, professional staff! I love their "sure! I can do that" attitude. Intimate but not overcrowded tables. Wonderful desserts! You can get a light meal (rotisserie chicken breast or thigh & soup or salad w/bread) which is exactly what I was looking for, or a wide selection on their menu for those that are HUNGRY! I've been coming here almost 20 years. It's counter service with table delivery. When they first opened, they had the most incredible panninis. I don't think they do them anymore but it was pesto, grilled zucchini and eggplant, artichoke hearts and brie. One dish that has stayed constant is the pesto pasta salad. Stopped in on the way through to the 5 from Big Sur. I had a french dip on their homemade bread which was quite good.

We stop here for dinner or lunch and love it every time. The Bowls of rice and veg / chick are my favorite for a small meal and my wife loves everything here. Today I am short on words, but long on memories, so go and enjoy a simple fresh well prepared meal. read more
