I stopped in today at noon with two of my friends. We ordered a Large hot Sake to start the lunch off right! The Jalepeño Poppers caught my attention on the menu so we ordered them while we looked at the menu. THESE WERE AMAZING! They were Tempura deep fried, i thought they were going to come out like the traditionally breaded ones. These were WAY better!!! Stuffed with warm cream cheese and even came with a side of dipping sauce. We finished those up and then decided on the Cherry Blossom Roll, the Michelle Special Roll and the Tempura Roll. I love anything in that tempura breading! All of them were absolutely delicious. I want to say our server was named Roy; he was SO attentive and checked on our table every step of the way. He wasn't too overly attentive where it took away from our experience though. There was maybe one or two other tables in the restuarant and the music that was playing was low and relaxing. My husband & I went to this place to get lunch. We went inside the restaurant, but the staff informed us they will open at 3 pm. We said oh... okay... we'll just come back for dinner later on then. So, my husband and I are about 20-25 mins from this restaurant. While the sushi here may not be 100% off the hook, the options for Vegans seems plenty plentiful. I actually found this place on Happy Cow. I'm sure I scrolled on right past in in the Yelp results with it's lowly three star overall rating. I'm not interested in digging through the reviews to find out as to why. Perhaps their raw fish game ain't up to par? Since I'm not coming here for that shit, I can't complain about the food or service I got here. The inside of the place seems kinda rundown in a dingy Chinese restaurant sort of way. Perhaps that's another reason for the low ratings? I wouldn't know since during my 'rona world visit, they are takeout only. The lady at the counter was friendly, if maskless. The food was ready pretty quickly and time flew by while we waited on it in the car. The rolls were actually pretty good and reasonably priced. We ordered nearly all their Veganizable rolls and everything was really good. I appreciated they included enough soy sauce, ginger and wasabi so that we didn't run out. The Gyoza was excellent as well and came with a tasty dipping sauce. I'll certainly make it a point to visit here the next time we're visiting the area. According to the menu they are open for lunch 11AM-3PM and for dinner 5PM-9:30PM. We were happy with everything we ordered. The sashimi sampler was huge and more than enough for the both of us. Good sushi in this area. If you're around this town and need a sushi fix, I recommend this place. The spicy tuna rolls are nice and large with chunks of identifiable, fresh fish. Not like most sushi restaurants that mash up expiring tuna with rooster hot sauce to mask the flavors. The menu also features some Korean dishes, as the owners are Korean. Although the owner mentioned that he was a traveling sushi chef in his previous life and was a native of Guam! He's very honest and customer-focused, making a point to serve food and interact with customers to see how they're doing. I think he's trying to make a point of improving customer service and fixing some of the damage his previous customer facing employees had done. The table next to us had a boy and his father order some food. The boy's dish came out late. Although the boy and his father didn't complain, the owner quickly acknowledged the delay and offered to bring them a free dessert. I'd definitely come here again when I'm in town. read more

We had a good experience at Off the Hook. Sushi seemed fresh, rolls had good flavor and a nice variety to choose from. Was a little on the pricey side. 4 rolls for almost $60. Some rolls only consisted of 4 pieces. While the pieces were larger than your average roll we did feel a little short changed, but sushi is an expensive treat in general. Overall we were satisfied with our meal. We got the deep fried tuna roll, lion king roll, spicy hamachi roll, and the Serra special. We thought the deep fried tuna roll and lion king roll were especially good. They are only doing takeout because of Covid, but we called our order in and it was ready to pick up promptly 15 minutes after we called as promised. Great service! Came here last night and unsurprisingly disappointed... SERVICE: Came as a group of four around 5:30, there was only one other table taken at the time and they were finishing up their good, but it still took a at least 45 minutes for our food to come (given there was only one waitress at the time, but it still felt like a lot of time for it to arrive. Besides being slow our waitress was really nice. She tried her best to help us whenever we needed~ FOOD: We ordered 3 rolls, California, the Serra special, and rainbow roll. The sushi/fish was not very good, it didn't taste very fresh and the rice felt very dry so eating it wasn't an enjoyable experience either. (I never eat California rolls, but compared to the other rolls with fish i preferred it.) We also had beef teriyaki and pork Katsu. Compared to the sushi the cooked meat plates were much better. Beef teriyaki was okay; the sauce was too sweet and tasted like it was catered to more of a western taste, but the meat itself was good. The katsu was probably the best out of all our food, it was crisp yet still juicy, and the sauce was the perfect amount of sweet & savory! Also the restaurant doesn't serve miso soup... ATMOSPHERE: It was pretty dead and dark inside, not very inviting or warm I'd say. Also, this is a personal opinion, but i feel like their cups for tea are too big and they have unnecessary plates for the tea that take up too much room on the table. RECOMMENDATIONS: Haha I recommend going somewhere else, perhaps in a different town if you want quality authentic sushi. If you do end up going, it's best to stick with a cooked meal~ read more

So I've been here before, the sushi was always good. Me and my friend came and bought $100 worth of food and it was all very bland and the rolls were cut into 4 massive pieces. We tried one piece of each roll and were left disappointed. I went back in with all of it and told the lady that I had had it before and I liked it but she said that she couldn't refund me because I had tried the sushi. How was I supposed to know that it was bad if I couldn't try it. She ended up giving me $48 bucks back after lecturing me about how it's disrespectful to bring it back. The BEST sushi in Fort Bragg, by far!! I can eat California rolls every day. One time Off The Hook was closed so I ordered from another local restaurant around the corner and it was nothing compared to Off The Hook's California rolls. This "back up" restaurant used imitation crab and it was so horrible and flavorless that I'll never go back. I actually threw it away. But Off The Hook's rolls are so flavorful and fresh and FULL, you can actually taste the seafood. That's what a California roll is all about!! Their Lyon King is absolutely scrumptious as well.
