We really love this place! My husband found it on Yelp a couple of weeks ago and we've gone several times a week for lunch or dinner ever since. Everything we've tried has been delicious! We love that we can go in and grab food for an entire meal or sides to add to a main dish we make at home. The place is cute and clean. The service is friendly and staff is helpful to explain what the foods are to someone who isn't familiar with Korean foods. My co-workers and I were looking for Korean Fried Chicken for lunch and this place caught our eyes. It has 5 stars on Yelp with hundreds of reviews. We were surprised, and we figured we have to try this place. There are plenty of parking spots and the place is pretty hidden because you probably wouldn't have seen it if you drive pass the plaza. This place is a small shop owned by a small family and the menu is not that big. The atmosphere is very home style. It is like you walked into someone's home for a nice meal. There are not a lot of sitting in the restaurant. I think this place is mainly for people to come pick up a quick lunch and leave. The restaurant mainly sells kimbap (Korean Sushi Roll), Korean Fried Chicken, Fish Cake soup, and a variety of side dishes. We got the Kimbap with the fishcake, 18pc of Korean Fried Chicken (half soy and half original), and Kimchi as our side dish. Let's talk about the Kimbap, it is made fresh and they also take special order. If you are vegetarian, you can request a vegetarian Kimbap and they will make it for you. If you want purple rice Kimbap, they will make it as well. You get the idea, if you don't see it, just ask. They will gladly make it for you. Overall, the Kimbap is fresh and delicious, very home style. According to the owner, their side dishes are made in house. I believe it because when I walked in, I saw a big bucket of marinated crab. That looked so good, it is just unfortunate that my co-workers are not a big fan of raw side dishes. We got the regular Kimchi and you can tell it is made fresh because old Kimchi is not crunchy and super sour. Be aware though, it is decently spicy. The fried chickens were very delicious as well. The dough is light, and it is fried just about right. Because of that, the meat is juicy inside. One more thing that I liked about it is that you don't walk out feeling greasy and disgusting. I am telling you right now, they have some good fried chicken. One con would be I wish there are a few more flavors we can choose from like honey, garlic, or black pepper. It is not needed because it is already good of what they have. But hey, I am just nitpicking at this point :P Finally, the service. I think this is what left me a huge and good impression of this shop. We just happened to walk in during their lunch time, but they were still go out their way to help us out especially when we made a special order to take home. The owner went into the kitchen and prepped the food in the middle of her meal. When they finished their lunch, they brought out this ice-cold watermelon. Guess what, they offered us some as well :D And that's why I said this place is very home like. They welcome you and treat you like a family member of their own and I think that is very important as a restaurant. Overall, the three of us spent around $30 for the lunch which is pretty good based on the quality, freshness, and the service. Have been here several times. Their food is amazingly yummy. Their banchans are the best especially Kimchi(Napa) just a note: there are raw oysters in there Napa kimchi. Small family own and super friendly services. The place is clean and can see what they are cooking and preparing your meals. Price is just right. My fav is their chicken wings. But I spend over a hundred very time I go there. Stock up on their kimchis. I feel bad, as I'm probably the only one that has given them this low of a rating, but I couldn't help it. I came here on Friday afternoon to pick up some banchan and fried chicken with my BFs mom. Upon walking in we pick two banchans, potato salad and squid salad. This place is a bit small with 4 tables, 2 tables with customers eating, an empty table and the 4th table with three ladies who work there using it to prepare banchan. We stand at the cashier while 2 people in the kitchen didn't care to acknowledge us either. Finally after about one minute, one of the employees (I'm guessing the owner) comes to the cashier and rings up my order and I tell her I want a 12 piece chicken, decided on the half and half. They only have two flavors original fried chicken or garlic soy. As she tells me the total I get my money in my wallet and she asks "are you Japanese?" I said no. Then she decides to speak in korean, the BFs mom then replied, then she continues to speak to the BFs mom in Korean and ask who am I, she replied in English "that's my sons GF" the cashier proceeded to shut up and take my money. The BFs mom and myself felt a bit offended as to her being nosy and judging why I, a non korean, was with a korean lady. I'm guessing they only have korean customers? But there's so many reviews, makes you suspicious when you see how there are many reviews from ppl who have only reviewed this location or one more. On to the food...as soon as I paid she decided to tell us it will take 15 mins, we decided to walk around instead of staying in there, when we got back 15 mins later she said it's taking longer than expected. After 22 minutes we finally got our order. When we got home (10 mins away) BFs mom and I sat down and ate, opened it up and the half and half was really half lightly drizzled on the some of the pieces and not the others. I thought it would come like any other korean fried chicken place where they split a box w aluminum and one side crispy and the other with heavy sauce. Let me tell you, it was a light drizzle! I regret not taking a pic. I've had more salad dressing than the sauce on the chicken!! The crispy chicken was not that crispy. I recommend Ssal, Koko or chicken university if you are looking for KFC. I hope this place gets more diversity, this is Trumps America, but at a korean take out. I wouldn't go back. read more

Only downside would be the time it takes for them to cook the food that you order. It seems like the place is ran by a friendly family but it seemed to be short staffed in the kitchen. They sell Korean side dishes also known as ban chan () to easily take home. My boyfriend and I tried the kimbap () and their Korean style fried chicken here. Kimbap () -------------- Yum! They have different types here! Kimbap is yummy vegetable roll with rice wrapped in dried seaweed, but there are also differnt kinds such as one filled with bulgogi or tuna mayo. There were also different kinds here, but we opted for the vegetable one. It looked so enticing with its colors! We bought the big one with half veggie and half ham, and it was so cheap for only $8! Flavors were delicious, no sauce or anything needed. It is accompanied by the yellow pickled radish. I would come back here if I want angmore kimbap. Korean Fried Chicken ---------------------- There are 6 piece, 12 piece, 18 piece, and 24 piece options. You can either get no sauce, with sauce, or half half (half with sauce and half without). We went for the half half 6 piece. These are one of the best Korean fried chicken I've had in OC! So crispy and plenty of meat! We did prefer the ones coated with sauce better. The fish cake soup, ddukboki, abalone jjuk, and fried chicken. Everything was delicious - actually the best Korean food I've ever had, not having yet traveled to Korea itself. (Husband said it reminded him of Korea though!) The only thing was the fried chicken -- we are a bit picky about it. I personally loved the plain no sauce but he wasn't much a fan. Stopped by in between my double shift on Monday for lunch. Tucked away in the corner of a strange plaza, this restaurant services a wide variety of banchan, soups, fried chicken. Ordered the 12 piece fried chicken wings with sauce, a tuna kimbap, and seasoned soy eggs. The wings, albeit not the best Korean wings I've had, were pretty good fresh after taking 20 minutes. The tuna kimbap was honestly just okay, maybe mine was the last one they made in that batch. I prefer more tuna and perilla leaf in mine. The miss here is the customer service of lack thereof. Don't expect to be greeted or helped. If you don't speak Korean, expect any answers to your questions to be short from the younger woman at the register. I'll be back to try the other banchan to go. Entering the shop you will notice that every item is made daily and fresh for those on the go and made to order for those dining in. My rating: Fish cake soup with 2 pieces: I didn't realize how big these fish cakes were. Two pieces are equivalent to 6-8 standard pieces at other places. These fish cakes tasted really good and were the long thin fish cakes that aren't too chewy. ****/4 Kimbap- they have two different types one with spam and one original. I got half and half. Both were really good but I preferred the original slightly more. original ****/4 spam kimbap ***/4 Spicy rice cake- *** .5/4 they put a hard boiled egg in with your rice cake. Not too spicy and not too salty. Again the fish cake in this was delicious. The rice cake wasn't as soft and chewy as I like it but the rice cake gravy was well flavored. Chicken wings: half order of regular, and half flavored. The wings are huge and crispy hot. Maybe my expectations of the wings were too high because I expected it to be the best dish but it wasn't . The flavored chicken wings has a soy sauce garlic base and not the sweet and spicy flavor you find at other kfc places. It wasn't my favorite chicken wing but it's definitely not the worst I've had. ***/4 Oh the shikae is homemade and isn't as sweet as the ones you find in those slushy machines. I came on a whim after checking out the korean book store next door one late Friday afternoon to see if I can trust Yelp and their algorithms. Walking in you'll notice the interior has a nice rustic feel and limited seating. The cashier greeted me and recommended items I should get based on popularity, I ordered one small spicy rice cake and one fish cake soup. Both are street food favorites and I can see why. Both were about $5 but you do get your moneys worth and the spicy rice cakes comes with a hot hard boiled egg. The egg was deep in the cup which absorbs the spicy broth and really gives it a kick. The second time I visited I tried out their fried chicken since it was recommended before and I'm glad she did. These were chicken wing sizes and they're basically original chicken and if you want them sauced they're lightly sauced but still packed with flavor. The service here is top notch. The cashier is very friendly and makes a lot of small talk with you which can be tough because I'm not much of a small talk person but bless her for trying.
