    Hot chocolate

Ole and Steen has a great hot chocolate for this winter season. I went twice this weekend, because I loved the hot chocolate so much the first time. The inside is a large cafe, lots of seating room. Huge selection of pastries. We walked in around closing time on Saturday, but the barista was so accommodating. Their hot chocolate machine was already shut off so he hand steamed each cup. We also ordered a croissant and spinach roll. The croissant is a must have for dipping in this thick rich hot chocolate. I had asked for the spinach roll to be heated but the oven was already off, I requested to cancel it but he threw it in for free for the inconvenience. So nice of him!

"Lagkagehuset" is Danish for layer-cake house. Ole & Steen is a Danish bakery chain and my first visit. I always have a predilection for breakfast pastries particularly almond croissants and chocolate pastries which fits the on-the-go fast pace of New York culture. I came to Ole & Steen to attain breakfast during my professional duties travels in the Financial District. Copenhagen, Denmark comes to New York and I can taste Danish cultural cuisine since I cannot travel to Denmark. Customer service is average. C'mon, "Let's get this brød" Danish = "Let's get this bread" in English! Chocolate social slice $5.95 This chocolate pastry was enticing amid messy. A little chocolate in the morning to enhance my day. It was not entirely sweet. Seating is limited. No comment on the drinks as I did not order any. Price is surely aligned with 2025 era inflation as anticipated and expected. This pastry was somewhat large and it bleed to soak through the thin paper bag. There is a station for napkins, coffee lids, brown sugar, and other coffee sweeteners, but no honey.

A great oasis in the FiDi frenzy! Impressively ample seating and a friendly. Great spot to get your caffeine or sweet fix. Prices are all decent but you should especially look out for their $3 monthly offering. Don't forget to sign up for their loyalty app!

$7 iced latte doesnt taste very yummy. Feels fancy and spacious but the staffs are bitter, lots of items and eats on the menu but none seem to hit the spot. Lots of seating I would say that, Came on a gloomy day and inside feels just as too. I had tried their raspberry slice and they seem to have some interesting pastries and baked items, it was crumbly (no pic)

Located across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel, this coffee shop called our name due to its proximity, logo, and welcoming storefront. My friends and I were in need of some coffee and light bites to start our day and they delivered. It's a fast casual chain with a variety of baked goods, savory and sweet and some more than decent coffee. We ordered and had our food and drinks within minutes... I had a coffee with steamed oat milk, another had a coffee and another had iced tea. We also had a croissant and cinnamon roll. We took everything to go but there is a seating area for those that choose to stay there. Side note: the logo is an "S" with an "O" around it and a queen on top, which was perfect because we were in town celebrating Queen Sloan's 50th birthday!

I forget the name of the pastry but it was really good! The latte was delicious as well and you could really taste the strawberry

The chicken salad bread was refreshing and tasty, the large latte was decent but I wouldn't get a large next time because it was kinda milky. Service was fast and friendly. I liked the ambiance inside, lots of windows and clean tables. I would come back here and try more food and another drink.

The pastries and cakes here are quite good. I come here when I miss Tebirkes which they have on the menu as Copenhagener. I enjoy the laminated flaky dough and the subtle sweetness from the almond paste. I like their Danish Cheesecake and Matcha latte too.

    Cinnamon Social Slice

I was really excited to try the cinnamon social but it was pretty disappointing. The piece was huge though. But flavorwise, it was lacking. It wasn't particularly moist, in fact it was a little dry. Besides just sweet I don't know how else to describe it. There was a little cinnamon flavor but not that heavy. The location was nice. There's plenty of outlets and seating. Ordering via the app is easy. Overall: cinnamon social was a letdown

I was with my friends and we came here for lunch. Pretty decently priced for Manhattan and the food was really good! Staff was friendly. Place was quite busy which was good to see. Really convenient place in financial district area.

This was such an exciting find! I absolutely love danish pastry, and I know any Danish place (should) have good coffee... and Ole and Steen did not disappoint!! They did the cortado right, which is rare, even at more upscale coffee shops. And on a Sunday morning we had super quick service, too. They also had a huge assortment of pastries. We tried a few, but the favorite was definitely the lemon "danish" (I forget the name), it was perfectly flavorful, not too sweet, and just a good treat. I accidentally found this place and am so glad I did!

It felt like items weren't made with care and mass produced at a factory or something. I went 10 minutes before they closed and there was still 10+ of each dessert. I'm not convinced that they will dispose of them. Even if they do, it means they didn't do a good job in forecasting demand especially after being in business for multiple years. I ordered mango and yuzu. Both were too sweet and had one dimensional flavor and textures, not refreshing per their stated flavors. Even if their appearances take effort, they don't look pretty enough for me to forgive what goes in my mouth. I'm used to having patisseries with many layers and elements. Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.

I had never heard of the place before, but I was happy to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the experience feels special. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite.
