I've been coming here for over 10 years. Since the remodel, the inside is actually very nice. They have great breakfast food and the BEST cream of chicken soup which is now served daily! Can't say I've ever really had anything other than breakfast food and soup though. read more

After being a regular for years, we had the absolute worst experience. Food didn't arrive for an hour, when it did it was cold, one waitress and no manager on duty. No explanation as to what the problem was. It was determined from the loud argument between the waitress and the cook that he was impaired in some way, probably shouldn't be making food. Good food, good service at good prices. I have been eating here for the better part of 30 years. The remodel a few years ago has the place looking sharp and the simplified menu is great, the old one was like a phone book. Its not gourmet food but the coffee is fresh and you wont be disappointed with anything on the menu. read more

Was here with the boyfriend...either the food was bad or the draft beer wasn't good. He didn't eat much else today and totally threw up a few hours after we ate there. I'm giving this place three stars for two reasons: Reason 1: A year ago a I came here after prom, and we were seated immediately which was great. Then we got a drink fairly fast which was awesome, but we didn't get menu's. After waiting about 5 to 10 minutes still no menu's and the waitress was no where to be seen. We were about to get up and leave, when all of a sudden she pops out and tells us we have to pay for the drinks. (one orange juice and one water) I worked at a restaurant and if our customers didn't have that great of a survives we usually give them a free drink of free meal depending on how bad is was. You're telling me you couldn't have ignored that orange juice? You couldn't ignore that $2 bill? Reason 2: I came here late at night with a friend and the services was slow for no real reason. They weren't busy. It was us and one other couple, but it still took the waitress forever. It wasn't even like she was gone in the back doing work. She was talking to another waitress about someone else behind the bar. It took us forever to get the bill. Food is great. The service is like a hit and miss. Whenever I walk in here I always think, "Am I going to get good service or bad service?" read more

I'll start by saying, once everything was said and done the only positive was that the food tasted good. They were unprofessional. The lady repeated my order to me on the phone but when I got there it was all wrong, so she proceeded to blame me for the order being wrong. She got frustrated when I tried telling her what my order was supposed to be. She was unable to acknowledge that they messed up. Eventually the owner came over to me and started helping to resolve the problem but the girl was unbelievably rude. This is not the first time this has happened. I've been going to O.S. (or, as some call it, "The Star") WAY before they remodeled. I've been there (not kidding) well over 100 times. The food has improved. I've never had an issue with the staff or owner. In fact, like many reviewers here, the old owner used to give my family a HUGE tub of soup to take home. Of course, not every restaurant is perfect; sometimes, you have to ask for extra napkins or wait a bit before the waitress arrives. Typical stuff, nothing to create an angry review over. Service has greatly improved. The atmosphere gives it an "upscale" feeling at great prices. You MUST try the breakfast! The soup is also fantastic. read more

Well, this is basically just a diner. Nothing too exciting about it. Old decor, a very large menu with many misspelled words, and friendly staff and just treats you like a neighbor. The prices aren't bad, but I wouldn't qualify the food as being excellent. It's 24 hours and has almost every kind of food you could wish for. read more

I've been to Olympic Star twice now. The first time was for breakfast and just recently for lunch/dinner. I definitely prefer the breakfast food. I had a fantastic omelet for breakfast and for lunch/dinner I had a Monte Cristo sandwich which I would not recommend to anyone.... Outside of the food, the service was very good, no complaints there! I would go back to Olympic Star, but I think I'd just stick to the breakfast food. read more

Breakfast and soup there are always amazing there! The only thing I don't trust is the sanitary. A couple of years ago I heard they had rats in the kitchen. Now they are suppossly gone. Also, the silverware is either dirty or there are just a lot of water stains on them. read more

I love Olympic Star and always have. Love the feel of the place, love the soup (who doesn't?), and love the service. My waitress tonight, Shay, was one of the best I've had in a long time! Very energetic and gave great service. I'll be sure to request her in the future; others reading this should remember the her name! The bus boys, also, are very good at their jobs. Water is on the table right after you sit, never a dirty table in the place, and I've noticed that they're more than willing to help waitresses bring out their trays. Let's see, I lived in Tinley Park from 1987 to earlier this year. That makes over 23 years of going to OS. Doing the math let's say I've been there at least once a month during that time, which I have. That makes just under 300 visits to the Star, I would venture to say the actual number is much closer to between 500-1000 visits lifetime, no exaggeration. That all said, I know what the place is, your typical Greek diner. For once I kind of agree with most of the other reviews, especially about the 70's decor. This place is nothing fantastic, but it certainly gets the job done. Especially at 230am when you're half in the bag and you can't figure out what you want, a 3 egg skillet or BBQ Chicken or Ribs. Are they using many frozen items, yes! Is sometimes the soup fantastic and other times watered down to stretch it out, yes! But all things considered the food is pretty good. Stay away from pasta type dishes, go to pita sandwhiches, greek/fried chicken, ruebens/french dips of the world and be sure to get a salad. This is no joke, the way they orchestrate a traditional Greek salad with anchovies (which maybe only I like), is just fantastic. Their Greek dressing is just perfectly spot on. Get it as a whole dinner or just get the side salad Greek style before your meal. The other salad dressings are also a big highlight of the place, with maybe the exception of the pink 1000 Island. It doesn't taste horrible, but its kind of weird. Finish your meal off with a rice pudding, they do this pretty good............I feel the need to add something important about this place. I personally feel OS is the unofficial social center of Tinley Park. From 6am to 4pm you see construction workers on rained out days, older lady lunches, and regular working people trying to enjoy the newspaper before work or during their lunchhour. During the dinner hours you see many families and couples enjoying somebody else cooking dinner rather than themselves. Then there is the after hours crowd, one I've been a part of my fair share of the time. 11pm-5am, you drank too much, you smoked too much, or sometimes you just want somewhere to hang out with your freinds. The teenagers are big on the later. Whatever your case, OS is the place. Older salty waitresses give way to younger ones with better attitudes that are ready to take care of your difficult drunken food demands. The place often gets noisier around the 2am mark (when bars let out), you'll hear funny conversations and see interesting stuff. Maybe the Tinley Park elite in the upper part of the towns socioeconomic class aren't coming to OS, but I would say much of the rest of the town is coming here and representing. Not really a place you go out of the way for, but OS is the type of place that goes out of the way for you. Right time and situation arise, you want to be there! read more

I went there last night 12/28/16 and selected the split pea soup which was awful and the gyro plate with the fries served were under cooked. This is the first time we have been there since they remodeled. It didn't look like the same place. It was bright and clean and nicely decorated. Nothing fancy, but nicely done. The food has definitely improved and the service was great. There was a steady stream of people coming and going. I had the Philly Chicken sandwich with seasoned fries and their homemade chicken rosa marina soup which was excellent. My husband had the Greek pork shish kabob served on a pita with greek salad with feta and greek fries. The pork was tasty and tender. the portions are large and we both brought half our dinners home with us. The prices were very reasonable. I would definitely go back. I you are looking for a good Greek family restaurant, I would give Olympic Star a try. read more

The staff is always friendly, fast, and accommodating from the moment you step through the door. The olympic star is a great place to go to have a nice relaxed meal with friends. They offer breakfast twenty four hours a day and have many other great menu choices. The Hercules special is one of my favorite items. The staff is very friendly. The decor was a little outdated last time I was there but it didn't take away from the experience. my friends and i have gone here many times, sometimes at five for dinner and sometimes at one in the morning and the service has always been phenomenal. the food is always fresh and so delicious. brenda is probably the best waitress i have ever had. in my opinion, the food is very reasonably priced for the quality and amount they give you. i usually find myself wishing i was a little bit hungrier. i get the grilled chicken panini without bistro sauce, and it doesn't disappoint. last night i tried the waffle chicken sandwich which was a midnight special and i was glad i did. they have gained a lifetime customer. read more

Very disappointed! Do not go here!! We were charged a split plate fee because I had 2 bites of my husbands ham. Despite having my own meal of soup and salad. When I asked the waitress (after she brought me the WRONG soup and I kept it as I do like that type as well), she said they have to do that every time a plate is shared. 2 Bites of ham!! The "manager" (a waitress with tatooed arms), would not give her name and was very rude and condescending. When I asked for the owners name I was told I could not have it..... Unbelievable SCAM!! Yes, it was only $1.00, however, if this is how the manager speaks to people, I would not ever suggest going there. read more
