Great breakfast spot ! Recommend the Denver and hobo omelette. OJ is fresh and coffee is always fresh

My fiancé found this place online because we were deciding on where to eat for breakfast/brunch. We decided to go here and luckily we found a parking garage they gave us free parking for the first 2 hours. The place was only a block from the garage we parked from. We got there and it was a nice day, so we ate outside. The lady who seated us didn't look too friendly, but we ignored it because he told me the reviews online were pretty good. The menu was fairly small which I'm not complaining about because I personally don't like too many options.The only thing that caught my eye was the country fried steak. I honestly have tried many country fried steaks from many different places (IHOP, Denny's, Black Bear Diner, and other mom & pop places all around the Bay Area and outside of the Bay as well) I wanted to see if this would beat my favorite country fried steak from Ole's in my hometown, and I have to be honest it was pretty good. The steak was deep fried compared to Ole's where it was on the griddle. The meat tasted like it was fresh, although it was deep fried, it was sure not like Denny's where it was salty and the meat was thin. This definitely was meaty. The hash browns and scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. And it seemed like he liked his steak & eggs minus the fatty pieces. The only reason I give this place 4 stars is the waitress who took our order was fairly mean and it seemed like she was being sarcastic when I said no bread for my order. But the second lady that brought our food came with a smile and brought hot sauce, ketchup, and & pepper. She was even nice enough to refill our drinks even if we barely done with our glass. I also give it 4 stars because the gravy for my country fried steak still had a floury taste to it... I don't think it was cooked all the way through so the flour taste would go away. Love coming here for breakfast, specifically on Sundays. I've come multiple times and have always been seated immediately...never had to wait even when busy! My husband always gets the veggie chorizo and eggs and I quote "it's so good!" I've gotten a variety of plates like their omelettes, scramblers, sandwiches, chilaquiles, and I have never been disappointed. Way too greasy If you're a healthy conscience individual, or at least consider yourself health conscience when it comes to eating; do not attempt to eat here. Although the hostess and wait staff were pleasant, the food was less than mediocre and very underwhelming. The eggs tasted like they either had chemicals in them or maybe they were just expired; and the burger I had I could see a film of grease glazed over the top upon being served. It's unfortunate cause this place seems like a DTLB staple yet their food tasted like Costco store bought food or Cisco Foods; nothing fresh or organic about this food, that's for sure. My husband and I waited for 25 minutes outside while no one was there to greet us. A waitress (long black hair-didn't get her name-no name tag) came up to the long line outside waiting to be seated to check a sign in sheet. We were next in line. She asked where my name was, I told her it's our first time here and we didn't know we had to check in. She wrote down my name, and called the next guest. Not once did she look us in the face or even greet us. She never came back to seat us 10 minutes later. She skipped us again and never once looked up to greet us or let us know we are next. Our party of 8 took a trip to the Omelette Inn on a day it was drizzling outside so we had to squeeze in inside the restaurant. Service was subpar - they didn't seem ready to service a larger party. Cajun Salmon Omelette ($10.25): All omelette's served with either hash browns or home fries and choice of bread. Opted for the home fries and rye bread. The omelette was filled with grilled cajun spiced red onions, red peppers, and flakes of salmon - hold the goat cheese. Really enjoyed the salmon although I wish there was a little more =( The home fries were nicely baked but the rye bread came cold and not toasted. Closely located near the Long Beach City Drive Shopping center, the omelette inn serves a variety of ethnic variations an on your favorite 3 egg omelette. This omelet dive represents old world long beach with pictures of early long beach circa 1980s...a time when dinosaurs roamed the land. The Sicilian omelet had Italian Sausage goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes that was paired with my delicious cup of coffee. How did they know such pairings were clan-destined? As for the Hobo, the combination of bacon, cheddar, Louisiana sausage, bell peppers and green onions where phenomenal...So much that I'm determined to hug the next hobo I see. I am always baffled at establishment such as this that is in the food and service industry. Service was beyond unacceptable and there should be no reason that it is this awful. We came here at about 11am. The credit card machine was down and they were accepting cash only. This explained why it was so empty on a Sunday. It took the hostess more than the alloted wait time to ask for our drinks. We told her we were in a rush to which a rude tone was used. Our server came and took our order. She was missing our side of bacon, jams, and syrup. It took 3 other employees asking us the same question of "is there anything else you need?" before we received our missing items. We ate and not once did anyone came back to check on us or even offered a refill on our drinks. It was beyond terrible. Even our food taste like crap due to such poor service. It was a little later than we thought which worked out to our advantage because the crowd had died down. We were seated right away. It was a nice day so we sat outside. Looking at the menu I noticed this place isn't only for breakfaast. It has lunch and dinner items on the menu. But specializing in omelettes I wanted an omelette. I ordered the #2 Mama Mia. It had Italian sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms and onions simmered in a special Italian sauce and topped with jack cheese. Was it good? Heck ya!! It was delicious. The service was a bit slow which brings it down to three stars. But the food more than makes up for the poor service. This place should be called Omelette's and More. Lots more. Yesterday it rained most of the day. I needed a little exercise and what a better way then to walk to the Omelette Inn. So many choices on the menu. I decided since I was burning up some calories walking to and fro, that I would order something off my diet. The Belgium Waffle covered with whipped cream and strawberries was just too good to pass up. Coffee was about perfect. The maple syrup tasted like the real thing, not the imitation stuff that everyone else serves. Service, this place has service beyond belief. Plenty of helpful staff to make sure your coffee cup is never empty. Ambiance, is great. Someone figured out how to convert a factory looking space into a comfortable room. We were looking for a breakfast place on a Sunday, searched on Yelp and found the Omelette Inn. The setting of this place is simple with a small outside patio. Service is quick, efficient and very friendly. The menu is huge! You will find all the breakfast classics, Mexican dishes, sandwiches, burgers and even a selection of desserts. It was not badddd at all. I actually expected a lot less since I've never been to Long Beach and I relied on Yelp to hook it up with the whole breakfast experience! I hit up a couple of different places in downtown LB in the morning according to Yelp that were good, but all the places were pretty run down, with bars, where the cops were arresting people and I really didn't want anything to happen to the rental, so we took a circle around town and ended back up at Omelette Inn. The reviews were MEH to the place, so I was easy going about it. We were seated fairly quickly- indoors, mind you it was super chilly in the morning. It was a hole in the wall type, very old school diner like with outdoor seating. The tables had early bird specials, they offer reward cards and then our menu. Loved the fact that it included pictures and of course, Omelettes were the specialties but I wasn't trying to be bloated. So I opted for a make your own meal. 2 hot cakes @ 3.99 +2 eggs + bacon over hard @ 3.99 more It was delicious though the food took FOREVER to come out, least it was hot and not just sitting on the counter waiting to be served. I mean, the size of the hotcakes, if I knew I would have only gotten one! Could not for the life of me even finish half of one so much good food wasted!! But the bacon was divine like it should be and the eggs were crispy and not all at yolky. The mister had himself a giant breakfast burrito with chorizo a side of fresh fruit which was extremely fresh! Not canned or syrup like I expected and the burrito was just huge. He spent a great deal of effort trying to cramp it down and it over met his expectations. The prices were average and for the portions, I say they're actual under charging their customers! It looks like a mom and pop shop just the way I like it and the atmosphere is comfy where everybody comes down to have breakfast with the family. She sat us immediately and asked if we wanted the umbrella open. We said no but she literally begged us in a cutesy voice, "Please please you do want the umbrella. You do. You do". I thought it was unusual but didn't want to be mean so, I agreed to have the umbrella put up. I did not realize what a hassle it would be to get the umbrella set up. She was unable to get the umbrella to stay up and requested assistance from a gentleman. They requested we get up out of our seats to avoid betting hit in the process. A women very close to the umbrella was not warned and found them very intrusive of her space which led her to depart quite abruptly. Finally, the umbrella was set up so we could sit back down and order. We ordered mimosas which were claimed to be fresh squeezed. I personally have freshly squeezed oranges before and it didn't have the same color or consistency. It was an unusual color; one you may expect from and artificial peach or mango flavored drink. The taste was unusual as well. Perhaps the color and taste were effected due to the maraschino cherry at the bottom of the champagne glass. I'm not certain, but either way it was not enjoyable. We ordered the veggie quesadilla with home fries and the Sicilian omelette with hashbrowns. Both were tasty however, I would say not what I was expecting for the prices charged. For just ok food that I could have cooked myself, I would expect excellent customer service to make me want to come back. Service was tentative in the very beginning but faded away towards the end of our meal. We had to flag someone down to get our check after sitting there for a while once we finished our meal. Another reason we wanted to leave ASAP was that a breeze picked up and the umbrella almost fell on us and the table several times!! The customer service and food were just ok. My experience wasn't absolutely terrible to where I would swear the place off to never return but it was not good enough to where I would be eager to come back either. There's a fenced off area outside on the sidewalk. Passerby's have a good chance at snagging at your food while you're not looking, so just be cognisant of that when getting a table at the edges. There seems to be nomadic people about as well, but well, that's just urban living, moreover, that's just the LBC. You're in Long Beach, not in Gangnam Korea. -=-Sicilian Omelette-=- A Sicilian omelette as it sounds would have an Italian flair to it. I didn't get that vibe though when eating this. Of the several ingredients here, the most flavorful should have been the Italian Sausages, garlic, and goat cheese. I really didn't think that any of these flavors popped at all in this omelette. It was lacking character, in my opinion. Thankfully, heapings of ketchup and tabasco would fix this, but I would think that an omelette should not be this bland, especially at an omelette place. Yum!!! The Omelette is located right near 3rd and Pine in downtown Long Beach, and they're open from 7 in the morning till late in the day. You can get your choice of breakfast fixins or burgers, salads, and sammies depending on time of the day. We were there for breakfast, and surprisingly a little crowd had formed as they were just opening the doors for the morning rush. I decided to go with their Popeye omelette which was made with egg whites, lots of fresh spinach, green peppers, grilled onions, and broccoli, and that came with this AMAZING side of very fresh fruit -- including apples, strawberries, grapefruit, melons, berries, and grapes. WOW, that was excellent! Next time I may just go with the seasonal fruit salad served with Greek yogurt. You have the choice of sitting inside the restaurant, or outside on the patio. This morning is a lazy morning for us so i decided to order from my favorite breakfast spot on Doordash. When i opened my food i was extremely disappointed. Its is a 6.99 delivery fee, and on top of taxes AND a tip i paid 40 bucks for two omelets. The food was definatley sitting for a while before it was brought to us (we live about 5 minutes away). The meat inside was so over cooked it was tough. As a cook i can tell when something has been sitting for a while and Comparing this to what I've been given before this is disappointing. Had Mimosas and Huevos Rancheros and Eggs Benedict (with no meat) The portions were perfect, and the HOMEMADE SALSA was so delicately made and had all the right flavours, that we ate the entire deep glass of it! Tried this gem out Sunday morning. My boyfriend and I hardly do brunch but we decided to check this place out since it's in walking distance and oh hot Damnit ! What a gem !! Sunday morning, busy and usual. We were sat in less than two minutes. Greeted in less than five and the woman who greeted us was fantastic (I wish I got her name) !! She offered us sangria with fresh strawberries and it was absolutely fabulous! My boyfriend got a lemonade, she suggested a strawberry lemonade because the berries are in season. She was right ! Come with an appetite. This undisputed champion of breakfast wins in all categories. Service, food, ambiance, price. I can't exude enough good will towards whoever created this place, because it is the mecca of breakfast restaurants. First off, it's just darn cheap. Next, it seems to represent the bilateral relations of the industrial roots of long beach (meat, eggs and potatoes) along with the new-age hipsters of californication (egg-whites, granola, etc.). Yet the friendly staff, the deserving menu, the TLC that permeates the place seems to take all the good things about these things, and leave the rest for the grease trap. It's been a while since I was at this place, so I wish I had a copy of the menu to give you a taste. What I do remember, though, is that you could get a card, and they would punch it for you and when you got enough punches you'd get free pancakes or something. It's called focusing on the customer. Next, they had like 3 or 4 different types of pancakes. I fell in love with their buckwheat pancakes. Geez! They were awesome. Next, they had these pumpkin muffins which were so good, I'd order one to go almost every time I went, because I'd know that I'd wish I had later in the day. The restaurant itself is very cozy.
