I would give this place 4.5 stars, if not for the service. Sarah and Chris, the baristas on Sunday morning, are AWESOME, Always super helpful, and friendly! But the owner or manager or whatever she is, who's name I'm not sure of, (workers call her "Mama") is completely AWFUL! I come in every week without fail, and have been doin so for the past year. This woman is consistantly so rude and uncaring toward her customers! Today, for example, it was 100 degrees outside. She turned the 4 ceiling fans OFF because she doesn't want to spend the money. When we asked about turning them back on, we were told no. Mind you, the fan behind the counter, that keeps her cool, remained on. This is just one example. The prices here are way too high to have to put up with this kind of treatment. Even if it were the best damn coffee on the planet, which, by the way it is most definitely not, treating customers like that is just plain wrong. I'm sorry, but running the ceiling fans is not going to bankrupt the place. It's ridiculous that she continues to treat her customers this way, and I for one, am losing my patience, and will not be coming back here very often. This place has some great things going for it: it's spacious, not too loud (except Sunday mornings), adjacent to the Sunday farmer's market, and the staff and owner don't seem to mind if you camp out and study for hours on end! All awesome! Five Stars! However, the coffee might be the worst coffee I've ever paid money for. I don't know what's going on with their beans, but they might want to stop making their own and start getting their coffee from someone who knows what they're doing. Yesterday I bought an iced coffee and had to add about a quarter cup of half and half and a bunch of sugar just so that I could get the stuff down. For some perspective: I usually drink my coffee black. I go back to this place time after time, but it's NEVER been because I like their coffee. It's been because I like their croissants and the atmosphere. Zero stars for the coffee. Hell, negative stars! Finally, I noticed a lot of people commenting on the customer service at this place. Ordered an Americano and got an iced coffee but pleasantly surprised as I think deep down I really wanted an iced coffee. They have a really good assortment of coffee offerings and like the German beer hall feel. The service is a little lacking in personality but as this is not a full service establishment that's not a huge miss. My one gripe is the $5 minimum for a credit card. If your patrons are coming in for just coffee, which I would assume a good majority are, I would think you would consider changing that threshold as most people pay with credit cards now and the upsell is a turnoff. I try to keep my dollars in Campbell, a town I've lived in for 34 years. I really do. Sometimes it's hard. Case in point. Orchard Valley Coffee. The owner of this establishment is absolutely incompetent. When she's on the cash register she's slow, confused and treats her most loyal customers like crap because she doesn't care enough to even know who they are. Love coffee shops! Superb location the one of Orchard Valley Coffee and great first experience visiting Campbell at night to meet a new friend. So happy this place was decided as the meeting point, I liked every single corner, very comfortable, free Wi-Fi, chimney with books (that makes it more homey), tables of different formats and plenty of spaces. If this was in San Diego, I could depict this in Hillcrest or North Park area. Coffee was very good to me, did not try any pastries. Stopped in during the Campbell's farmer's market for a pick-me-up. Line was long but moved quickly. Coffee didn't tasted very remarkable - if I closed my eyes, almost standard variety Starbucks. Lots of tables + free wifi + full of people-watching opportunities + superb location. This place is mediocre at best. Coffee is not that good. Pastries is ok. Salads and warm food is mediocre at best. It's a great location and that's their main attraction. If they had better coffee and service, this place would rock. I work in downtown Campbell and have decided the Starbucks a block down is hands and above better than this place. I wanted to support the local community and make this my go-to coffee shop where I can spend afternoons reading, people-watching, and all that good stuff but won't go here unless I had coffee in hand and was interested in a $2 cookie that is like everything else here, just ok. This isn't necessarily a knock but take it how you will. I wanted to get a chocolate croissant toasted and they did not have a toaster that fit the croissaint. I love the roominess of this coffee house. The Latte's and Mocha's are always good. The available bake goods have some of the broader offerings in the area. There is laid back atmosphere and the staff are quick and friendly. You can't go wrong here. read more

Orchard Valley Coffee is a real mixed bag of beans. The quality of the espresso swings from almost tolerable to flat-assed nasty. Maybe they can get away with tarting it up with milk and syrups, but I drink my shots straight, so after years of trying, I've given up and stick with the drip coffee (which has improved measurably now that their roaster has been out of commission for months.) The flip side of this coin is the place itself which is warm and cozy in the winter (thank you Ted, the VW Van-driving live-in firetender), and open and airy in the summer. Free WiFi goes a long way to earn my good-will and I am taking full advantage right now as I write this review. Woe be to those who lose battery power - outlets are scarce. I used to avoid the place, but I've mellowed considerably over the years. It's charm is that it's a funky place, and it's drawbacks are that it's a funky place. Just accept it, stabilize your rickety table with a couple of napkins and enjoy the people-watching. read more

I enjoy hanging out at this coffee shop for the spacious-ness it has. I don't feel cramped and suffocated like I do in say, a Starbucks. If you're lucky, you can find a table close to an outlet to plug in your computer. Last time I was there, I kept losing my internet signal on my Mac, I'm not sure if that's a regular thing. Their coffee's pretty good, I usually order the oregon chai and get a quiche. Those are yummy! WFH on Friday and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather in DT Campbell. Great spot that's not too noisy to get work done! There are plenty of tables, outlets and free wifi! They had masala chai tea and a variety of sweets. We tried the blueberry muffin and bread pudding. Both not overly sweet. The only drawback was the not so friendly barista. Okay-2nd review-came back a couple more times. Finding a lot of signs here about what's "not" allowed: "No free refills on coffee", "No using cell phones", "No sandwiches served until 12:00 or on weekends". Here was the clincher:"No Credit Card without $5.00 mimimum charge-otherwise we will charge an extra $.50" When I told the manager that it was not legal to do this, she gave me the line about being a small business, blah, blah, the credit card company charges them $1.45 per transaction. She has a business packed with customers and I'm supposed to weep for her over the credit card transaction fee? She didn't care that it wasn't legal, so I reported her to Visa and Mastercard. It takes all the enjoyment out of the mediocre dining experience here. A very customer unfriendly place! read more

Um yay! This place is HUGE and is really great for groups. It can get a little bit loud, but I think it's just because my photo group can get a little bit excited (the coffee doesn't help either). Anyway, the place was really cool, and the drinks and food are decent. I only wish they served something alongside the quiche, instead of just a slice of it. I guess I'm spoiled by Caffé Trieste's quiche served with a side salad. Mmm... Well, on second thought, the quiche at Orchard Valley wasn't really that great. The crust was a little rubbery and weird. BUT... I can totally overlook all that since the place is really awesome, and the people who work there are totally laidback and cool. Yeah. This is THE FAMILY coffee shop in Campbell. It has been here for over 20 years. Everybody that works here is so nice and friendly. No frowns, only smiles. No Starbuck's franchises here, this is a real independent community operation. And it has so much space inside and with all of the big windows, it is really comfortable to sit and drink their delicious coffee, read the various magazines and newspapers that are laying about and people watch. If you live in the area, it won't take long to see all of the regulars that come here like it is their second home. I don't get the food here but it looks great. Not that it isn't good, I'm sure it is but I never buy food in any coffee shop, I just go there to get my fix of decaff. If you have a laptop, plug it in and work or surf. They won't try and kick you out if you are there awhile. It's all cool and relaxed here, like butter. read more

I'm not a coffee head or anything but here and there I do enjoy a nice cup of whatever the house brew is. Came here one chilly evening with the girlfriend to meet two of her friends who frequent this place to study. The venue is spacious and I definitely appreciated the fact that everyone was very respectful in terms of being quiet and minding their own business. The people or regulars I should say are all welcoming as if they live/work here! Great atmosphere to just be in, do homework, or even read. Anyways, the service is good, nothing to rave about but definitely nothing to complain about. The guy who took my order and made my drink was down to earth and very real. No showboating or douchiness at all. I felt like I was at home the whole time. Now on to my drink, a simple mocha. Just the right amount of chocolate flavor, not to sweet and I still got to taste the coffee highlights in my after taste. On a nice Memorial Day off, I found myself awake too early for a Monday off of work and needed to come up with brilliant ideas for bridal shower planning. The bridal shower planners and I headed to Orchard Valley and it was quite hoppin'. Nice, bright, spacious coffee place with free wi-fi. I ordered a plain house coffee (which was good) and noticed lots of people sitting around eating different pastries of various sorts. I'll have to try one next time I'm in the area. I really want to like Orchard Valley Coffee. I've been to OVC three times now and my visits were disappointing to say the least. The first time I was there, the people working were rude. I can appreciate that they were busy and maybe they were having an off day, I forgave that. When I asked for a glass of water, I was told that "it's by the door" in a tone that suggested that I should have known better than to ask. The second time I was there, I wanted a pastry. I have food allergies and wanted to know if there were nuts in the chocolate eclair. There was no allergy information on the card, which I can understand. But when I asked the cashier if he knew about the eclair and whether or not there might be nuts in it, he scoffed and said he had no idea. Again, maybe they were having an off day. Today, I went in and asked for a small decaf nonfat mocha. The cashier that I wanted a medium mocha. I asked if she could make it small and decaf. She looked at me and said "we don't make small." Oooooookay fine, I'll take a medium. Then she proceeds to tell me that there is a $5 minimum if I want to use my debit card. I added a piece of pound cake so I'd make the minimum. I thanked her and went to wait for my coffee. I watched her look at the barista, roll her eyes and laugh. I am now writing a yelp review ( I created an account just to share this... ) and drinking a lukewarm whole-milk mocha made with burnt decaf espresso shots... I had my first decent coffee drink at Orchard Valley tonight. It's been a year of second, third, and fourth-chances since I had my first crappy drink and nasty customer service there, so I thought I'd create a Yelp account and share this unusual experience with you all. After ordering a 20oz coffee tonight form the ever-surly young fellow behind the bar, I stepped over to the self-serve coffee dispensers, where I found one of them to be empty and the other to be near-empty, with the contents lukewarm and very old tasting. Naturally, I brought this to the barista's attention, and after grumbling something about "this is what happens when I come back from my lunch break", he made me the decent americano that I mentioned above, in place of my originally requested coffee. It was incredible. An americano with body, nuance, and a robust, nutty flavor. Not nearly enough incentive for me to go back to this place with any frequency, but still, a very tasty drink. It's a shame really, I'd much rather not have to frequent the other independently-owned cafe' in proximity, Coffee Society. See, being surrounded by Insane Clown Posse aficionados, Good Charlotte fans, and Goth wannabes is not my idea of ambiance. If you're going there to study, leech the WiFi, or drink pre-mixed chai-type beverages and don't give a damn about coffee, Orchard Valley Coffee is the place for you! This is one of my favorite places to study when I'm sick of studying at home alone. It's huge, there are almost always decent sized tables available, and no one cares if you stay for hours. I like the minimalist natural light and find it mellow, although if you're used to more illumination, it might well seem dim in there to you. Wi-fi is generally decent, although the last time I was there I kept losing my signal, which is bad news when my textbooks are online. Also, there's no AC; they just leave the windows open in the summer. There's a Starbucks around the corner if that matters to you, or if it's over a hundred that particular day. Service at the counter can range from brusque to downright surly. I can only think of one truly friendly barista, and I haven't seen him for awhile. Oh well; the coffee is unobjectionable, at least in the caramel macchiatos and mochas I gravitate towards. They have simple syrup for iced tea and other cold drinks, which is nice if you hate the grittiness of undissolved sugar. I've bought pastries and other food here, but honestly can't remember any details about any of them, so they were probably unobjectionable, too. Nice indie coffee shop to hang out in with friends or be alone in public; I'd probably go there more often if the service were better. read more

Nice place, becomes much nicer on a good sunny day. Good for casual business meetings. It is big, simple and works. As it is not an assembly line like Starbucks, i believe this place can offer "different" feel to an individual at "different" times. My experience was good. No plastic smiles. It has a character. It is reasonable. Bakery has an interesting menu. I can see myself visiting this place often. I had "complex" downtown brew. Of course I can't place the flavor around anything I have had, i can vouch for it that it was good. Broccoli quiche is something you don't get at every corner in bay area. I liked them a lot. But what I ALWAYS love about this place is the atmosphere, the people, the super comfy leather couches, and supporting a local ma and pa coffee shop. They also serve a descent breakfast. I enjoy Orchard Valley Coffees' vibe. People working the counter are always friendly and drinks are made quickly without being excessively pricey. I usually grab an iced black tea or white mocha, always tastes good and a great pick me up. I like to come here when I'm doing homework because they have hassle free Wifi and it feels like most of the other people around you are there for the same reason. Every now and then you'll catch a good conversation. There isn't any air conditioning here, but it's nice because the windows are open when it's hot, providing fresh air. Thanks OVC! read more

my first visit here for coffee/breakfast, and it was not bad. came with a couple friends after a long, hot run on los gatos creek trail, which ended at nearby campbell park. they have a variety of items to choose from: omelettes, quiches, breakfast pastries, coffee, tea. you order at the cashier, and they call out your name when your order is ready. the interior is very spacious and casual, lots of patrons bring their laptops here or a book to read, or just snuggle up to a cup of coffee and a pastry. this is a good place to bring a medium to large group of people since there are some larger tables available (first-come-first-serve). i had a slice of asparagus quiche for $4.29 (including tax). the quiche itself was tasty, but i felt it was on the small side, was hoping for a bigger slice for the price i paid. i would come back to try some of their other options, but i probably won't be running back. read more

When you walk into a cafe without the aromatic scent of coffee enveloping you, that's a sign that something is already off. I've visited the Orchard Valley Coffee a couple of times before and found the coffee to be decent, though not spectacularly memorable. This place demonstrates one reason why sweetness, sugar, and syrups do not alone account for a good cup of coffee, because it masks everything else. I camped out here for a good part of my afternoon in the hopes to get some writing done. The good news is that there are plenty of tables to choose from - window seats, couches, and all. There is wi-fi here, which is a nice companion to the laptop folks. However, the ambiance here is pretty cold. No music, no friendly smiles from the workers. All you'll hear is the chatter of people and families in the background - not exactly conducive to creativity and work. It's on okay place with the essential tools needed to work - coffee, pastries, wifi, tables, and plenty of street parking downtown, but it's far from being a hangout favorite. read more

Attention laptop owners: come play at Orchard Valley! What I love about this place is the multitude of outlets to charge up your delightful laptop. I'm not, however, the first to discover this! The place is blanketed by a sea of internet users....but not to much that I would ever cal it crowded. Ever time I've been in there it hasn't been more than 80% full...which I like. The antithesis of Starbucks, this non-pretentious, art-covered coffee house draws a diverse crowd. From book clubs to bikers, students to CEOs, this place is filled with a friendly crowd. I've had many-a-conversations with my flank tables. I'm a fan. Better yet, I can always park right in front of the place....which is one obstacle less between me and my coffee. The coffee is tasty too. You can buy the beans by the pound if you desire. $10 for a pound packed right there in front of you. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their products. This place is pretty good. They roast their own beans and have a fresh brew whenever you need your fix. I usually just get a drip coffee. I'm lactose-intolerant, so the fact that they never charge me for soy milk is appreciated, and they have stevia available as a natural sweetener alternative to splenda and all that junk. They also have a fairly large food menu, including breakfast and pastry items. Try the chocolate croissant. It's awesome. I would have given them five stars, but Barefoot Coffee Roasters around the corner on Bascom takes the vote for best roast. That and the rude lady behind the counter my first time in leaves them with a solid four stars. We came here on a super hot day, and there was no AC. I had sweat forming on my back just sitting down and working. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato, and it was lukewarm. The drink literally tasted like sugar water. I had a couple of sips and had to throw the whole thing away because it tasted so bad. The tables and floors were littered with breadcrumbs and food bits. I don't think there was anyone coming out to clean the place. We decided to leave in the middle because the wifi was slow, and that was the last straw. After working as a barista for two years of my life, I've become kind of a coffee snob. Especially with my soy milk. The first time I went to Orchard Valley, the customer service was not good (read: mean) and they burnt the soy milk (one of my pet peeves, it really tastes gross). The second time, their credit card machine was down and they didn't figure it out until they had tried two of my cards and one of my friend's and none of them worked. Fortunately this time they were nice. UNfortunately the soy vanilla latte I ordered tasted like they didn't even change out the espresso between drinks. It was so undrinkable that I threw it out soon after ordering it--if I hadn't been late for a meeting, I would have gone back and gotten a new drink. Not going to try that place again. read more

Great coffee! Mexican Mocha is SOOOO good. I really like that atmosphere here it's a nice place to meet with friends and hang chat, and I'm not a hang out at coffee shops kind of person. The staff is really nice, once my card was demagnetized and wouldn't swipe and I didn't have enough cash but the cashier said it was ok and pay her next time. That's something you don't find anymore (luckily a friend came to my rescue and paid but it was still very nice). The food is alright, nothing special but I haven't had anything bad.
