Coffee was so so. The desserts was not that great either. I would skip the dessert and just get the coffee if you need your Java fix. The dessert is dry (seems like it is a day old), and over priced. This is a really nice-looking coffee place.Lots of art on the walls, a fireplace area, coffee roaster roasting aromatic coffee, nice wood tables and chairs.I like the outlets on the floor for your laptop. The coffee is really good, and the place to put stuff in your coffee is convenient and has lots of choices, sometimes even matcha!I often like to have a little of everything in my coffee. There is also cold water. It is large enough you don't feel cramped, but sometimes lines can be long. It has a real down-home feel to it. So I'm sitting at Orchard Valley Coffee, studying and minding my own business when the cashier walks up and tells me I didn't pay. She says she remembers me in line and that I just "walked away" and "got my coffee without paying". I look at her in amazement - I've been sitting here for over an hour slowly sipping the house drip in my "for here" cup! If I were trying to scam this coffee shop would I sit within their view for more than an hour, flaunting my stolen coffee? I confirm that I gave her two bills for the $1.50 cup 'o joe and the cashier asks me how much change I got back! Worst service ever! I walked in 9 months pregnant and ordered a sandwich and a drink. I explained that pregnant women can't eat lunch meat unless it's microwaved first and I asked them to just microwave the meat for 15 seconds before it goes in the sandwich. The young lady behind the counter was horribly rude and basically told me they did in fact have a microwave but would not accommodate my request. THEN she told me she would rather me walk out than microwave the meat. She basically kicked a hugely pregnant women out of the store! I asked to speak to a manger and she wouldn't let me. She also wouldn't give me her name. I turned around to walk out and she rolled her eyes and started laughing. I called and asked for the owner a few times to let her know what had happened. I left a few messages, explained what had happened to other staff members and never received a call back from the owner. As a business owner myself I would want to know about anything like this happening at my establishment. Clearly the owner didn't care enough to call me back so here it is for the world to see. My life catalyzes on caffeine. It is my lifeblood; my 87 octane if you will. And the blacker the coffee, the sweeter the boost! Epic fail, sorry. To be quite frank, Orchard Valley Coffee makes a damn good, and strong, cup of jo. The "Downtown" flavor is my favorite. One medium cup of this stuff and I'm ready to challenge Nastia Liukin for her crown as the women's all around gymnastic's gold medal winner at the 2008 Beijing olympics. And if Shawn Johnson wants a piece, give me another cup, and I'll take her down too. You know the coffee at Orchard Valley roasters in Campbell it's going to be good when they are grinding and roasting the beans right there where you standing in the ordering line. They have a couple good blends that are quite tasty and a nice outdoor seating area with tables in the shade and in the sun. Very spacious inside with many tables and free wi-fi. I had a chocolate muffins that was just ok. I don't know why Chocolate muffins with chocolate chips have gone out of favour, but they had some cakes that looks good, and I'd try one of those next time. read more

I live in Campbell so I'm very familiar with Orchard Valley Coffee. In fact, I worked across the street from them for about six months as well. It's a great space with more seating than I've ever seen in a coffee shop before and the ambiance is very artsy bohemian. The apple turnovers are truly nummy and the coffee is OK. Those are the good points. The bad? Well I'm glad to see I'm not alone when it comes to the ladies at the cash registers. Yes, working in food service can be hard. Yes, I'm sure there are many rude customers you have to deal with every day. Yes, I understand your feet probably hurt, maybe even your back. But for the love of God, do you have to look at me like you're scraping dog crap off the bottom of your shoe? This place is just okay in my book. Not the best coffee, not the worst coffee. The food is decent, and the customer service is spotty. The space itself is huge--lots of room for you to spread out and study. I think whoever said OVC is like a giant study hall is correct--it really feels that way. I've been there at random times throughout the week, and there's usually quite a few tables full of people trying to get work done. They have free wifi, which is always a plus, but sometimes it can be very slow. I've been here a number of times now, and what has always surprised me is the general condition of the room. The tables are usually a little messy (prepare to wipe down the table you're going to use, yourself) and for some reason, the last 3 times I've been there, I've gotten incredibly uneven tables, where my drink inevitable spills a little. I don't know if it's because a number of their tables are uneven, or if somehow--despite the fact I sit in different areas each time--the same table is always there. I've had tea here once, quite awhile ago, and never got around to reviewing it. Since I just started drinking coffee again, (but only a few days a week) I've been coming here very Sun. Sine we're at the Farmer's Market every Sun, this has become a regular stop for me. I am amazed that no matter how long the line gets, (and it gets long!!!) they always manage to get people in and out really quickly. I only get plain coffee here, but I like most of the varieties they serve. Last week, because of the excessive heat, I had the house coffee over ice, and it was great. I really appreciate that they don't put milk, or cream or a bunch of other fattening things in it. I heard rumor that this place has great Mexican Mochas....and being the mocha fiend that I am, I just had to try it. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Probably the best Mocha I have ever had. I also love the option to have your coffee "for here" instead of "to go". They put your drink in an actual coffee mug instead of the paper cups with the sleeve. There is something very homey about this option that I love. But note to self make sure you say if you want your coffee "for here" or "to go" when you order. Also, the space in this place is great. Lots of room, comfy chairs, and couches. Service here was also nice and quick. Orchard Valley just might become one of my new regular weekend stops. My friend and I were looking for a new coffee shop to work out of on a saturday. We yelped a few places and came across Orchard Valley Coffee. We were automatically drawn to this place because of the massive interior with the plentiful seating. Nothing is worse than getting out on a saturday, ready to work, and arriving at your coffee shop of choice without a place to sit. There are a few couches/lounge chairs, lots of tables inside, and a few tables outside. There are tons of windows, so the immense natural light and people watching is great too. My caramel macchiato was delicious, not too sweet. I also ordered a slice of the pesto potato quiche and it blew me away. They have eggs and other breakfast/brunch items too, and tons of baked goods including scones and muffins. The house coffee selections are plentiful, and the staff was very nice and had good recommendations. It is in downtown campbell right on central and campbell avenue, so it's very accessible via lightrail. Parking in this area is always a little tough. I am definitely coming back here. tip- there's a $5 minimum for cards, so bring cash if you're only getting one thing :) read more

Charming inside-- like the rest of downtown Campbell, it's got a vaguely rustic, homey, slightly worn and familiar feel. Pretty big place that still manages to maintain its charm. A variety of couches, small tables, four-person tables, and some bigger tables. Evidently a nice place to sit and do a little work or studying as evidenced by a few laptops out on tables. Biggest problem? The coffee was terrible. I'm not an aficionado by any means, but having just gotten back from Guatemala, I was pleasantly surprised to see estate-grade Antigua coffee on brew. If it was even half as good as what I'd just spent drinking in Antigua from the Philadelphia coffee plantation there, heck even a quarter as good, it would've been superb. Instead... I tasted it, and got this watery dark blackish substance in my cup. Really watery. No resemblance to anything that should be respectably called coffee, let alone the highest-end estate-grade stuff. Truly awful. *sigh* (at least my friends enjoyed their cappuccinos, which is what saves them from 1 star.) read more

2 stars is "Meh. I've experienced better." I give this place 4 stars for atmosphere and seating but it gets -2 stars for customer service and quality of food. I've been here a few times now, usually just order coffee. Today I asked if they were serving breakfast at 1:15 and the noticed their sign that says breakfast until 1. The girl working was just like nope no breakfast. I told her I needed a minute and finally decided to order a sandwich on sour dough bread. I put my things down then went to collect my coffee and a man brought out my sandwich looked at it started to laugh then showed it to the barista, pointed at it then disappeared back into the kitchen for a minute. Huh?? The sandwich is pretty awful and the bread is stale and crumbled apart so now I have a salad with dry flaky croutons and a few bits of turkey, probably one of the worst sandwiches ever but hey this is a coffee place and their coffee is good so I'll stick to that next time. This place is great. I don't come here very often but whenever I do I feel instantly relaxed- seriously all it is missing are some bookshelves or something. Orchard Valley Coffee is an interesting place, almost what I'd describe as a town square. There's plenty of seating, free WiFi, and always a laid back crowd. I love the sandwiches here, especially on the 9-grain roll. Thick and hearty, you can order them by the half, which means a decent lunch can be had for less than five bucks. I've also tried the scones (dry, powdery, not recommended), the coffee, which ironically, isn't much to write home about; and the french toast with sausage - not fantastic, but definitely gets the job done. My favorite by far are the sandwiches. So long as they keep turning them out, I'll keep coming back for more. read more

Any place that doesnt bat an eyelash when I calmly ask for some sort of to-go container with a couple air holes for my Bee (that I am holding in a paper cup) gets 5 stars in my book! But seriously? I do love Orchard Coffee! This is one of the first places I could get to make my all-time favorite Banana Soy Mochas and I often return to this place when I'm in campbell. Even if I don't need a Caffeine boost, I will pop in for an Italian Soda or a sandwich. Once I even bought a quiche mid-day just because it looked delicious. The people who work here are always laid back and friendly. They are willing to make an ol conconction you can come up with even if it's out of curiosity. Love the casual sofas and tables filling every nook & cranny. Also love the fact that you can slide open the glass at the sidewalk to get the full feel of an outdoor cafe should you feel frisky. Well I had JUST met with a Bee Farmer regarding a Bee rescue and he taught me about Drone Bees and gave me one to care for overnight. I had to race from that meeting to another meeting scheduled here at Orchard so... here I was... holding this Drone Bee (drunk off honey and not flying) but I needed a more "permanent" temporary houseing for him. I started visiting Orchard Valley Coffee before Campbell had completed their downtown renewal, when the front of the cafe was lined with young suburban punks, complete with mohawks, studded leather, and criminal records. It's been a while since OVC attracted that kind of clientele. One of the earliest coffee shops to offer free wireless, students and lunching business men and women in plentiful supply. It isn't unusual to see study groups and chess games going on. It's a pretty large place for a coffee shop, but it can get crowded. I'm not sure how often they do live music these days, but OVC has generally been your best bet in Campbell for bad accoustic shows. The coffee is good, the food is so-so. Sitting outside can be unpleasant as one is essentially sitting on the street, but it isn't terrible on a lovely day, and they have a few tables and benches available. I dig it, but don't really love it the way I did as a teenager. The vibe is so clean. I like Orchard Valley, but I don't love it. read more

I think it is great that they make their own pastries right there on site. There is also plenty of seating. Trouble is, I am not interested in either of these factors. I come for a latte and the espresso tastes burnt every time I have been there. I would say in the past month I tried their coffee 4 times. I was never impressed. There is ample street parking if you go at the crack of dawn (6-7 hour) like I did but I was told after 8 am it is nearly impossible. I think they need to remove the diet/vitamin supplement display. Maybe they should watch Restaurant Impossible for some tips to make a dining establishment more enticing and professional. read more

Forget Starbucks! Orchard Valley brews some of the best coffees I've ever had. They also have some relatively decent pastries, however I haven't tried any other food, so I cannot comment. The staff is always extremely friendly, and there is always an outlet available somewhere to plug in my laptop. The only downside is that it will get very busy as the morning passes. I ordered a soy cappuccino and the drink I got was definitely not a soy cappucino. A cappucino is 2oz of espresso, 2oz of steamed milk and 2oz of milk foam. The drink I received was a soy latte in a 12oz cup. The espresso is also lacking in depth and flavor - not an aromatic blend. It was a very bland drink that was only saved because of the soy milk. I would compare this place to Starbucks because it doesn't do coffee any justice... an iced cappucino??? What is that and how is it different from an iced latte?? The first time I came here, I loved it. It has a nice kitschy vibe between the leather couches, the gazillion tables, and the random assortment of artwork. My problem lies in the customer service. Unfortunately, the people I met with on Monday afternoon agree with me. There wasn't anything outright insulting about the service. It just seemed brusque and very unfriendly. Call me spoiled by the excessive chipper-ness of the average Starbucks barista, but I tend to expect someone to not scowl at me as I decide what to order. And according to my friend, they charge $0.25 for a larger cup of water if you don't use the tiny styrofoam cups that are by the water pitcher. I used to come pretty regularly back in 2006-2008. Recently, I returned twice over the past 2 months, and was very disappointed. The latte was so unpalatable (scalded 2% milk, burnt beans, particulate and grainy) I took two sips and threw the entire thing away. Came here on a Sunday at the same time Farmer's market was happening outside. Even though it was packed, it didn't take too long to get our order (one omelette, one sandwich and two coffees). There's a lot of tables, GitHub tables facing the street and some couches. I didn't find the food special. It's okay. Coffee was the best thing in our order. What I didn't like were the disposable plates, the rush when ordering at the register, and disposable coffee mugs. Service is bad, server wasn't even making eye contact when I was telling him my order and then later I find out he missed a drink ordered so I had to go and re order it. I got their mocha which wasn't that great, their mango smoothie which tastes artificial, they're blue berry scone which isn't freshly baked and their chocolate croissant. Also after I ordered what pastries I wanted he didn't even ask if I wanted that heated up or toasted. He had already packed it in a paper bag and done. I had to tell him I wanted it warmed up. I've been going to OVC for years. It was actually a big part of my early 20's and I hate to have to do this, but this place has changed... Not sure if there are different owners or what - but I will no longer be bringing my business there again, ever. I wanted to get some stuff done and usually a coffee shop setting is a good place for that. So my cousin and I figured we could go to OVC since we were in Campbell. We were greeted with this newly instated $5 minimum for credit/debit purchases... If not there would be a $1.50 fee. $1.50? Seriously? As far as I know the most providers charge for cards is up to 5% + about 25 cents. $1.50 is about 30%. Rip off. So I needed soy since I'm lactose and the guy there was saying how they normally charge $.25 for this, and I was just like whatever - never been charged for it there... But he was kind of being a prick about it. So we got our coffees, got seated - noticed a band getting set up. No big deal. Got up to wash my hands before working and I realized something - every time I've been in that bathroom for the past year or so it smells just ungodly. I understand it's a bathroom - cool. But EVERY time? I'm not even exaggerating. This is a problem that can be solved and it's as if they have zero desire to do so. Finally getting to work - barely, since the connection there, even if you're completely alone, crawls. I don't understand. You can get a huge pipe 16+ megabits from Comcast for like $50 a month, what's the hold up? So the band started, and they were good... However, we did go there to get some work done and we couldn't even hear eachother when we talked. We were practically yelling at eachother. Just didn't think it was necessary. We saw multiple people leave once they started. It's not about the music, it's just the timing and atmosphere. People go there for meetings, to read, to work etc. All in all, the only reason I give this review 2 stars is because I HAVE had good experiences there in the past. But now that I think about it, at least 4 or 5 years ago. But these days, there are better, cleaner, quieter places with nicer employees. read more
