Origami Sushi looks like a total dump, but damn, does it satisfy. I and five fellow out-of-towners were maximizing our only true day of sight-seeing and we needed, I stress, NEEDED to get sushi before heading from the Sequim area to SEA to catch our red-eye. We had tried to get sushi for lunch in the University of Washington area, but every sushi place we found was closed on Sundays. One of the people in the group with an iPhone found this place on urbanspoon and we headed there blindly, not sure what we were going to find. What we found was deliciousness. Don't let it's sketchy exterior fool you. Or be concerned when the host looks to be 12 years old. Don't get freaked out by the really big space heater in the single-stall bathroom (fire hazard, anyone?) or the fact that the area in front of the bathrooms is separated from the sushi bar by a bedsheet. I actually didn't get the sushi, but my dining companions who did judged it to be of acceptable quality at a decent price. My beef soup was very yummy, and the bubble tea I ordered for dessert was huge and delicious. Small detail: the fortunes in the fortune cookies we received with our bill were the most insightful I've ever read, and not in a sappy way. It's these little details that would make me want to return were living in the Bremerton area. read more

The chicken udon soup is light but satisfying, the green seaweed salad is delicious, and hubby loves the sushi here. They have everything from pho to pad thai to sushi (obviously). While this place bolstered my initially tiny hope for good Asian food in this area, it killed my wishful thinking about finding decent boba. I thought the green milk tea was ok, the mango smoothie disgustingly powdery, and the pearls just barely tolerable. I think it was the boba that made me feel really sick after dinner. I can't remember my stomach ever feeling so extremely unpleasant after eating. Origami Sushi is a good place for a casual date. It's not outrageously priced, but it's not super cheap. So it falls short of my ideal Asian restaurant: cheap, delicious, and authentic (and almost inevitably sketchy looking). But this place has 4 star potential. I enjoy my food here every time I come! My only complaint is that the place has a run-down appearance despite their efforts to keep it clean. There's just not much they can do to the building itself unfortunately. Favorites: Pink Dragon Roll, White Dragon Roll, and their Kung Pao Chicken. There sushi is a must the chef knows what he is doing! Fresh tasting and expertly made! We love anything with the scallops they are so buttery and fresh. Actually everything us delicious! There tempura udon is top notch the broth is so delicate and the tempura is a perfect match! We have been coming to this place for 2 years or so and they never disappoint! They have a nice little bar setup & even outdoor seating when we get those good sunny days =) . This place was completely horrible. I ordered the walnut chicken an it was more breading than meat. The sauce itself tasted a little rancid so all I ended up eating was the walnuts. My grandma ordered their kalbi and it was tasteless, dry and a bit burnt. My mom went with the sushi and she said it didn't taste very good. There aren't many Thai/sushi spots in Silverdale. And for the few that exist, they're extremely pricey. Origami Sushi has good food for decent prices and the staff are nice. It's not fancy inside at all but the menu is vast. There's outside seating an a small sushi bar inside. You can usually find good dine-in coupons in the local newspapers. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ORIGAMI SUSHI!!!!!! My niece used to work there but even before that Origami has always been one of my favorites since they first opened. Their waiters/waitresses are very attentive and I have never had one bad experience with any of them either. Some favorites? - General Tso's Chicken (definitely like no other!) - Pink Dragon Roll (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!) - Spider Roll (soooo yummy!) - Fried Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream (drizzled with chocolate syrup and whip cream!) Those are a must try for first time visitors :) Trust me you will fall in love. I have a bunch of friends who are major sushi lovers and this is the place I take them too (besides Hakatas) and they feel the same when they've stuffed themselves with as much food as I have! No complaints and definitely a place my friends tend to want to go to when they're in town. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice, somewhat loud when the place is packed - but overall? Great (you can still hear and talk with your company). They have outdoor seating during the summer which is wonderful and the restaurant is a pretty good size. I went to Origami Sushi for the first time today with my mom . The service was fast, friendly, and effective and the food was amazing. The servings were big and the prices very decent . We recently stopped into Origami Sushi while in town on business. We decided to split everything so we started off with the California Roll, which was pretty much as expected. Tasty enough and well made. Next our entrees - Vegetable Delight with Chicken an d the Saba Shioyaki mackerel and we both had Miso. The Miso was actually wonderful - it's unusual to not have it be overly salty. They had a very nice balance on the soup and we both enjoyed it. The vegetable dish was also pretty tasty - nice variety of veggies. The chicken was bland and a bit overcooked, but overall the dish seemed to work. The Saba Shioyaki was quite good as well - cooked to perfection. Warning to anyone wanting to try this: Mackerel is a bony fish no matter what you do with it! So take small bites and be prepared to find bones. It's this way everywhere so don't blame the restaurant, blame the fish! So why only 2 stars? Two things: the room is NOISY. Big metal chairs on a hard stone floor, and every time they clean tables they just drag them around without any regard to the horrible noise. A large group was leaving and they started to clean up around 12 chairs and for 10 minutes conversation was simply impossible. How can they not give any regard to the extreme noise of doing that? Please Origami - lift the chair and set it down! The second thing was really bizarre. We were at the back table where the patio door is and the patio was closed - no outdoor seating right now. But a workman needed an outlet outside so the guy in the restaurant sort of just pushed his way behind me to open the door to bring the cord inside and plug it in. He was literally pushing against me for some time while I was trying to eat lunch. He never even said "excuse me" - he just pushed me out of the way. Then, he left the door half-way open on a quite chilly windy day! He walked away with a door open over a foot not 18 inches behind me, blowing cold air on my back and Anne's face. I finally took it on myself to rearrange the cord properly to at least close the door gap down to a few inches... And what was the cord for? Repairs on the HVAC? Work on a needed piece of kitchen gear outside? Nope - it was a guy using a vacuum to clean out the trunk of his car. Could this not have waited until we had left?? The low rating is because, to me, these were avoidable things and they simply didn't care. read more

This place was A-OK. No major complaints. My opinion is probably a little biased because I just moved here from Hawaii where I was having AWESOME sushi several nights per week. I am kind of guilty of coming here a lot. It's like first instinct whenever someone asks me where I want to go, I usually say Origami. It's pretty cramped inside but not a deal breaker. Whenever I crave sushi, I order the Pink Dragon roll. It's a baked roll with imitation crab, avocado & cucumber with layers of fresh salmon & spicy sauce. It costs $10.25 and is pretty filling. I've tried the garlic chicken which was pretty rad. The veggies were good and it was very garlicky which I liked. Another favorite would be the honey walnut prawns. Our friends from out of town wanted to take us out to sushi, so after reading a few reviews, we ended up deciding on Origami Sushi. Although much of the dinner was very good, our friend ordered the eel and it was spoiled. The first time he told the waitress she went and asked the kitchen about it and came back saying it was fresh. Our friend ate some more and then insisted to the waitress that she take it back to the chef. When she came back the second time, she told him that indeed it was bad and she apologized. Since the bill was around $250, I was surprised and disappointed that my friend wasn't offered some kind of discount for having eaten the spoiled eel. Unfortunately, he was too polite to ask for one and since he was paying, it wasn't my place to suggest it. I left there feeling quite embarrassed over the experience. read more

Origami might just be my favorite restaurant in Silverdale. It's almost off-putting to know they do all sorts of Asian cuisine (Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean), but they do them all so well. The sushi is without a doubt the best in the area. The fish is always fresh and the presentation superb. The Ichi-roll, Seahawk roll and the wasabi maki are my favorites, but everything I've tried has been great. My favorite entrees are the Szechwan eggplant, the Phad Thai, and the mushu. The best thing about this place is you select the dish, then the meat. If you want Mongolian beef, you can have Mongolian beef. But you can also have pork, chicken, shrimp, tofu or mixed vegetables instead. The service is always great and the staff extremely friendly and accomadating. There's no better start to a great afternoon than sitting on their patio on a nice day with a large bottle of Sing-Ha and a nice spread of sushi. read more

This place is delicious and I'm so glad they haven't changed much over the years. Who doesn't love consistency? If you live in Silverdale/Bremerton you know there aren't very many [good] sushi restaurants around... if you live in Seattle you know there ARE very many [great] sushi restaurants in town. That said, this is my go-to place when I'm visiting home [the Dale] and craving some fresh sushi. They're always friendly, efficient, and quick! I've never had a bad experience here. Their menu has a lot of variety and plenty to choose from including drinks.. I should also add that their prices are decent given that their servings are plentiful. Ok so this is what I don't get about Kitsap. Every asian place is an amalgam of many different cultures. "FISH AND CHIPS, LUMPIA AND TERIYAKI" is a common sight to see. "KIM CHI, PHO AND SUSHI" is just so weird to me. This is that kind of place, trying to do a little of this and that and commit to nothing. Sushi is not a school of food you can only "kind of" do. I ordered the bento box ($16.99- wuuuut!) which included "poké" (not poké), six pieces of Cali roll, and 3 pieces of sushi. I started with the tuna sushi, and promptly spit it out as it tasted strongly of some detergent or solvent. Anyone read the news article of the guy who died after being served detergent instead of wine? I was freaking out. Darwin award in the mail! I have never spit sushi out before. Never. Never. When the waitress came back, I told her that it tasted strongly of detergent, and she said the plate had probably some residue on it. I appreciate her honesty, as I hadn't considered that and thought I was poisoned. The miso soup alone was tasty. I always thought that was a good barometer. If I had a choice this would get less than 1 star. First the place stunk. The dining room was dirty and everything looked like it hadn't been dusted in years. Finding it was a joke also ... it's tucked into a corner with very little signage. At night in the rain ... good luck. Second, with the number of Asian restaurants in the area, why do they feel a need to combine Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and any other -ese? Stick to Japanese is my opinion. Third, the Moo Shu was horrible and made my entire family sick (throwing up and diarrhea). If the health department hasn't been notified, they should be. I was only in the Silverdale area for 3 months and will never recommend Origami Sushi nor will I revisit them in the future. My advice? I really want to like the food here cause most of the reviews are decent. I am not a huge fan of fish sauce or fishy tasting things. The sushi I ordered was not good. Very very fishy - not fresh. And I ordered a veggie roll and that tasted like they soaked up old fish juice in the roll. I tried their garlic stir fry with chicken - the veggies were cooked nice . But again fishy!! We are really into sushi, so we decided to give this restaurant a try. Our order consisted of 1 california roll, 1 crunchy roll, 1 philadelphia roll, 1 las vegas roll, 1 order of crab ragoon, and 1 order of fresh spring rolls. We unfortunately started our meal with the "fresh" spring rolls. After biting into the roll our noses were overwhelmed with the smell of old shrimp, definitely not fresh. To top it off, as my husband put his roll back on the plate I happened to see a nice long strand of black hair rolled into the rice wrapper....total turnoff. Since we spent $50 on our meal, we shook off (and threw away) the disgusting spring rolls, and forged on. The crab ragoon was decent. As were the philadelphia, california, and crunchy rolls. I especially liked the crunchy roll. The most expensive roll, the las vegas roll, was not appetizing at all. The roll is supposed to have layers of "fresh" salmon on top, however, once again the salmon was not fresh, definitely tasted off. Maybe I am being too harsh with the two stars, however it is imperative that sushi is fresh, and this place had too many strikes against it in this regard. We will definitely not return here. If this is all this area has to offer, we will happily make the trip into Seattle for some decent sushi. read more

When you first walk into this place it looks like a whole in the wall. Even by looking at the menu, it looks kinda bleak. But this place puts all their focus/effort into the food. The sushi was amazing. I hadn't had sushi that fresh in a while. I tasted the typical spicy tuna roll, but they put their own flair on it and it's really good. The Poke tuna was really tasty. The atmosphere is nice - my husband and I had lunch there and then we met friends for dinner. The servers are extremely patient.. my husband couldn't decide which type of sushi to get and the gal had to come back 2-3 times. My only complaint about this restaurant is that every time I've been there it's so cold. As in, I want to wear my coat, scarf, hat and gloves while I eat. And if it's raining outside, you end up cold and wet. I'm hoping this is just a coincidence, and that not everyone experiences this. read more

Coming from the southern California sushi scene and having enjoyed good sushi in Japan, I was disappointed in the sushi rolls and nigiri we ordered. The rice was over done making it mushy, the rolls were created sloppily and the fish on the nigiri was way too big. That being said, the fish was fresh and tasty and not a safety concern at all. Just for the price we paid, I expected more in terms of quality. Quantity was more than sufficient and even detrimental to the quality of the dish. The tempura udon was the thing earning my stars. Very good with a clean light broth and spring onions, the soup was right on target. Despite being lower prices than the other available udons, it also came with a large plate of tempura veggies and shrimp. I don't know that I will come back here looking for sushi, but the soup was enough to possibly warrant another visit. read more
