Our food and drinks were ready within 5 minutes of us ordering. The Maple Chai donut is out of this world, for sure worth a try. However they got the texture of that to be the way it is, it's magic. We also had the croquet madame croissant which was nearly as good - fried egg on top and the sauce is nice and mustardy (meant in a very good way). The drink selection is not huge but plenty of options. Loved the food and atmosphere and will be back! Two things to consider if these matter to you - no dogs allowed inside and only milk alternative is oat.

The tanginess of the sour dough bread paired beautifully with the pesto chicken salad! The description mentioned that there were jalapeños, which I was excited about having a bit of heat mixed in, but there didn't seem to be any in mine. However, I honestly don't think it needed it, which is rare for me since I'm always happy to add a spice element to my food. Absolutely loved this place, and I already can't wait to try their other food when I'm back in town again!

UPDATE: Raising my rating from 2 to 4 stars. After my review, the owner Tyler reached out…read morepersonally -- not just with a thoughtful response, but he located my check and issued a full refund without me ever asking for one. The refund came through exactly as he said it would. To be clear, the food on my visit genuinely missed, and I'm not pretending otherwise. But Tyler responded publicly, owned it, and followed through completely. That kind of accountability is rare, and it's what earned the bump. Credit where it's due on the space, too -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Warm, candle-lit dining room, an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar, and a covered patio that had a real buzz to it. It's a spot that looks and feels like somewhere you want to be, which is exactly why I'd give the kitchen another shot based on how the owner runs this place. --- Original review (2 stars): Disappointing birthday dinner. Came in for my birthday and left underwhelmed. Our server Troy was the one bright spot -- professional and attentive all night. Caesar salad: Several bitter pieces of lettuce, and no black pepper offered or available. Faroe Island salmon: Overly buttery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The shishito cream sauce was way too acidic -- tasted like uncooked wine or vinegar. Crispy rice cakes were bland and a strange pairing (rice blocks with salmon?). The baby bok choy was decent until the sauce drowned it out. Braised beef short rib: Tender but flavorless. The mashed potatoes tasted old, not fresh that evening. To top it off, my wife had arranged ahead of time for the birthday dessert to be brought out -- the message never reached Troy, so that moment never happened. Troy deserved better than what the kitchen sent out.

We had their crispy spicy tuna appetizer with crispy square rice on the bottom and they were so good. For the main entree I ordered their butabara kimchi ramen and it was what I needed, the broth was rich, savory, and the kimchi really brings the broth flavor more dimensional. The ramen noodle texture was cooked to perfection and the pork belly paired so well in this ramen. My husband ordered the A5 wagyu rib eye and the steak melt in your mouth. We sprinkle the sea salt and dipped it in the quail yolk dashi juice and it was perfection! It is definitely a gem restaurant for Savannah! Truly amazing food experience!

Ukiyo is a Japanese restaurant with a ramen bar and is a very hip urban Japanese spot in Savannah…read more The lights dimly lit and the main entrance includes a massive fully stocked bar. There's a great selections of Japanese Whiskey, Sake and cocktails. We had a reservation and when we entered it was a bit confusing with people all over the place in the entrance not sure whether waiting to speak to the hostess or just casually waiting to be called for their table. After getting sorted we spoke to the hostess and then were shortly seated. The waiter came and took our drink orders right away. We got 2 cokes and a Whiskey Sour with Japanese Whiskey. After waiting about 15 min the waiter came back to take our food order, however we still had not gotten our drinks. We asked and said they were coming swiftly. Finally after 10 minutes later our drink orders came in. The cokes were flat but the Whiskey Sour was really good. I can't remember the waiters name but honestly she came by maybe 4 times the whole night and did not have the best attitude. The best thing about Ukiyo hands down was the food. Everything from the Ramen to the wagyu bao buns, just Wow. The wagyu was so crispy and just melted in your mouth. The ramen had amazing flavor profiles and was perfectly spiced. We also ordered the Chicken Karaage and this was so tender with the citrus mayo. This was also pretty big so were easily filled with all these dishes. The food and cocktails were amazing but the service really did disappoint from the delays and infrequent interactions.

I was born and raised in the south and this was the most succulent fried chicken I have ever had. For mains, my wife and I split the Half Bird (fried, charred, chicken salad, pickles, sauces) and Peel N' Eat Shrimp. The gravy served with the chicken was seasoned to perfection and the shrimp prepared with honey mustard rub & white cocktail sauce was excellent. We began our meal with a 1/2 dozen Yuzu Green Peppercorn oysters, and while I wish there was a mix-and-match option to try some of the other flavors, we were very pleased with our selection. For drinks my wife had the Frose Froze with an absinthe float, which she loved, and I had the Golden Door, which was a really solid take on an old fashioned. Our server was delightful and attentive and the atmosphere was unique without being overwhelmingly so. There was a cool, old foreign film playing on one of the TV's above the bar. We made a same day reservation a few hours in advance, and by the way it filled up around 8 pm, I'd recommend it!

Some of the best chicken breast I've had. Fried chicken (5/5): Crunchy, crispy, and not too salty. Unfortunately there wasn't enough actual meat. This paired well with the sunchoke hot sauce (tangy and vinegar with a heat that builds). Chicken salad (3/5): Pretty one dimensional. I would've loved some sweetness or tanginess. Biscuits (3/5): A little dry but the honey butter helped with that. Pickles (3/5): Great texture and nice bit of heat. There was a flavor I didn't love though (maybe star anise or something like that). Beef Fat Mignonette Oyster (4/5): Very salty and flavorful. I'm not a huge oyster fan but these were good! RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)
