In my case, a steakhouse defines itself on what they actually do to the steaks and how they properly cook them. I enjoy mine medium rare, and I never get anything less. Fries are also a must! I was with someone who gets Medium well and another medium rare, and both enjoyed their steaks. Another plus is the the amount of sides. Corp. places can be lost in too many sides, but Outback doesn't overwhelm you with too many choices. The Service is always good. Kind, quick, even in the face of busy times and too many people. I told the host that the waitress hadn't come after being there for 15 minutes but she still didn't come. I did go talk to the manager b/c that's what I would want someone to do with my business. The manager was kind and agreed that it was unacceptable to wait for 30 minutes and never even meet your server or get a drink order. She tried and offered for us to come back but my wife was already in the car and decided to go somewhere else. I'm leaving this review b/c I feel the owner should know. Although Outback Steakhouse is a chain...not all Outback Steakhouse's are created equal. We frequent the Outback so much since it's my husband's favorite place that we don't even need to look at a menu. On this day, he wanted a porterhouse and I was craving the blue cheese chopped salad. Upfront, the restaurant is set up slightly different and looks different on the outside compared to the other, older restaurants. Perhaps this is a newer Outback. It is clean and the sitting area was very nice and complete with fresh water for the taking while you wait. I want to point out that our waitress, Megan, was an absolutely amazing waitress. We went in for lunch and the things we wanted were on the dinner menu...she hooked us up! Then she had the waitress dance down pat...coming back at the perfect time and giving refills without being asked...it makes the difference. Ask for her if you find yourself at this location. Why the 3 stars? Here we go...: We all love the bread right? It was dry! Oh we at it and go another one thinking maybe the first sat under the warmer too long or something. Nope, it was dried out too. My husband's steak was actually flavorless, cooked ok, but no flavor. That Outback zing wasn't there. My son had a cheeseburger and fries. The bun was so dry it started to fall apart and he couldn't pick it up. As for me, the blue cheese salad was good, but the portion seemed very small in comparison to other Outback's. I also ordered the steak quesadillas. They had a good flavor, but I'm really referring to the tortillas since they had the hint of the grill and cheese. The meat was so skimpy that some pieces barely had a piece of meat. They are more like cheese quesadillas with a steak surprise! In short, the food was edible, but not up to regular Outback standards, and the service was great. But by putting those two things together, it equates to an average rating and that is a 3. I surely do hope they make some improvements. People like us know how things are supposed to be and they are not there yet. In closing...as you know, I like try to find the places that give a uniformed, military and/or teacher discount to help keep you informed. I used to go to Outback a lot and since the one on San Jose is closest to me, this location was the most frequently visited. I personally think bloomin' brands went through a couple of changes over the years. There was a period when we avoided Outback and Carrabbas all together. Prices went up and quality and portions went down - in my opinion. I do agree with another reviewer that not all Outbacks and Carrabbas are equal but since this one is "ours," this is where I base my opinion - and the Carrabbas a few blocks away went thru the same metamorphosis. Anyway, I found myself here last night for a gathering (not by my choice). It's probably been a couple of years since I had eaten here. They've remodeled the interior and exterior of this location since my last visit. I guess another change was in order. Regardless I had fairly low expectations. Ok - enough rambling - onto the food. The blooming onion must not have been in season as it was much smaller than I remembered. Caprese salad was bland bland bland - under ripe tomato, maybe spared us one tsp of basil and one tsp of balsamic. This is not rocket science - basil and balsamic can make or break the salad - charge me an extra .50 and add more for flavor. Crab mushrooms were not ok. Complimentary bread was ok. Pre dinner salads were ok. Going around our part of the table we had a grilled chicken - blah. Ahi tuna salad - nothing special. I had the pork porterhouse which I actually thought was pretty good but it would have been better if it was cooked to the temperature I requested. My son ordered a chicken caeser salad as his entree and not until we left did he say his lettuce was bad. I guess he just wanted to get out of there since the AC seemed to be struggling - we were all a little damp from the lack of AC at this location. For drinks we tried these "new" concoctions of drinks in mason jars. Huckleberry hooch and some kind of sangria. Where's the hooch? $7.25 for some punch with a blackberry and strawberry maybe? Don't bother with these - stick with beer - I should really know better so I take the blame for this mistake. Our waitress was good enough but not as I remember to the over friendliness level I remembered from Outback. Maybe she was bothered by the lack of AC as well. None of us ordered steak on my bill but in fairness we rarely order steak at restaurants. My whole family agrees my grilled steak at home is the best - especially when you take cost into account. Outback, what happened?! We went here tonight specifically because I was having a craving for a Bloomin Oinion. While that was the same deliciousness as always, it was downhill from there. First our salads were so sad and tiny! The shallow bowls resembled teacup saucers. It was only lettuce, cheese and a few grape tomatos chopped in half. When we inquired about the usual red onions and cucumbers, our waiter looked surprised and said they should have been included. He brought a few by for the last bites of our salads. At that point I had decided to switch from sweet tea to water and let him know. He came back over and filled my glass with water. The same glass that I was dinking the sweet tea out of. Who does that? Our steaks came and my husband's was way too bloody for medium rare and he sent it back. The new steak looked better but was a little tough on the outside. I was really sorry to see the green beans had been taken off the menu. They had great beans! They have been replaced by a "seasonal vegetable medley" that consisted of steamed carrots, snow peas and a giant hunk of broccoli with absolutely no seasoning or sauce on them whatsoever. Just plain steamed bland veggies. I tried something new with my steak- the crab topped sirloin. I don't recommend it. My steak was good, but the crab topping was like salty crab mush. And the cherry on top- when we asked for to-go containers, all they had was the little 4x4 size. So I tried to cram a baked potato and good hunk of steak in there and had to ask for an extra thing for the bread. Outback had been slowly going downhill, most noticably in the house salad department, and I think they finally lost me as a customer tonight. I phoned (call ahead seating) at Outback on San Jose Blvd. at 10:00 a.m. I explained this was a special Birthday for my husband. I requested to be seated at one of three booths up front next to the bar area, my hearing is challenged, the farther into the restaurant the noisier it can be. She said she would note that on our reservation. I requested 5:00 P.M. to ensure it wouldn't be too busy and we would have the best chance of one of the three booths. Upon arrival I walked up to the greeter, I found her to be rude and cold, I recalled she was that way the last time but shrugged it off. She didn't say hello or welcome. We were on time and all three booths were taken. The greeter said we could have the booth across from the three that I had requested but we would have to wait. We waited about 5 minutes. When I sat down the seat was sopping wet and my pants got wet, as well as the tabletop being wet so the menus stuck to the table top. What are the odds that three other couples requested those three tables? There were plenty of other seats available in the restaurant. The worst part was the greeter's attitude and rudeness. She is the first point of contact to a restaurant. We decided to leave and when my husband approached her to express his disappointment the greeter turned her back on my husband and didn't say a word. We went to Long Horn and had a most delicious Birthday meal. By the way the greeters at Long Horn were so lovely and welcoming. Our waitress was truly a joy and the meal was delicious. The Long Horn we ate at is located on Southside Blvd. By the Way, we have eaten at this Outback for well over 25 years under the MGMT of Tom Wine and never had one single issue. read more

One of the testaments that you know a big chain restaurant is good, is when former employees willingly eat there. I've had several friends who've worked at Outback before and love dining there. I've always enjoyed the food here. My personal favorite are their wings, it's almost an obsession how much I love them. The bread and butter, which is served for every diner is so delicious. Best rare steak around for the money!! Seasoned well and not over cooked, 18oz of tender juicy steak with so much flavor you'd be hard pressed to know it wasn't tenderloin! I'm Serious here folks it was probably as good if not better than craft steakhouse in Vegas (by Tom Colicchio). Meghan was great and provided us with all our special requests ( and silverware lol)! We also ordered the wedge salad as our side and it was also magnificent! If you haven't tried one it's Iceberg covered in blue cheesy goodness with bacon. This had a full 1/4 head of crisp lettuce topped with 1/4 cup blue cheese and at least three slices of crumbled bacon. Delish in a dish! This is my third time eating the Aussie 18oz sirloin and every time I've had the same unbelievable flavor and tenderness perfectly prepared! Came in on a Thursday night 8:30pm Went to the take out room. Girl inside was nice and helpful. Sat at the bar waiting for our food. Bartender nice and assertive. A waitress seemed to be having a bad night and loudly expressed herself. The bartender didn't seem to fond of her either. One thing I frown on is hearing or seeing drama in the work place. Our steak and mash potato was good. Steak cooked to perfection our only complaint we all 3 agreed asparagus was gritty or sandy maybe not washed, like eating sand. I've ordered take out about 10 times. Twice over $200.00 and they do not give bread on delivery orders or do the delivery drivers eat it... I'm saying with over $200 you should at least get the bread.. it's one of my 3 year olds favorite. Might not finish his steak but would eat the bread If we got it. the salmon is either undercooked or too dry....guess it depends on day and time you order.... they have a great selection when its cooked properly...its our favorite go to place because my husband proposed to me there over 24 years ago soooo we keep going back. Disappointed. I ordered by calling ahead and getting curbside takeaway. I ordered a steak with salad potatoe and sweet tea. They said twenty minutes. I have them thirty and still waited an additional twenty minutes in the parking lot. I understand we're in a unique covid 19 situation and there's a lot of orders but you are the ones who said twenty minutes. I didn't quote myself a time. Also nobody even acknowledged me. I had to yell at a girl bringing someone else their order to get any acknowledgement that I was even there waiting. I had already received the text saying my order was ready. Then I get home. There's no to go plastic ware which would have been helpful to eat my food since I have been moving all weekend and have no dishes out. So I have nothing to eat the food with. Finally spending an additional hour locating my kitchen items in boxes I find a fork and knife and cut into the steak which I ordered medium well and got what looks like medium to medium rare to me. Not happy. Every time I try back I get disappointed. Don't think I'll be trying again unfortunately. Oh yeah! And then my salad is pitiful. I think there might be three bites of lettuce there. My fiance and I came to Outback Steakhouse after a long day of work. I enjoy their steaks so I wanted to have one that day. When we entered the restaurant, the host and waitress was very kind and directed us to our seats and the waitress took our drinks and food orders. My fiance ordered the Sirloin and Shrimp on the Barbie with a baked potato and a Caesar salad. I had the same but I had the Coconut Shrimp instead of the Shrimp on the barbie option. We also ordered 2 alcoholic drinks. Within 5 minutes we recieved our salads, drinks and bread. The waitresses was very attentive. Three or four bites into the salad, my fiance finds a bug looking object in her salad. We see a waitress passing, so we get her attention to see if she can grab our waitress. You can tell on her face that she thought the object in the salad was exactly what we thought too. So she goes in the back and not even 3 minutes later a supervisor comes out and apologizes for the object. She stated that someone was chopping lobster next to the salad and it must of dropped in. For the inconvenience, she said that she would compensate the meal and she offered each of us another drink. I turned it down but my fiance took her offer. The rest of the meal was delicious but we were cautious not to enhale any objects that we didnt want to consume. After dinner, we were under the impression that the meal would be free so we flagged down the waitress to give her a tip. She stated that we still had a bill and she bought us back a $40 bill, that included the drinks that were offered to my fiancee for FREE! We didnt want to argue so we just paid the bill and left. Just had our Lakewood UMC once a month Church group fellowship lunch at Outback Steakhouse on San Jose Blvd. It was nice that everything was set up when we got there and well organized. There were about 20 of us in our group. Everybody ordered different things. Their lunch menu is very reasonably priced. Meghan was one of our Servers and did a fine job. We never felt rushed. Service was friendly, very courteous and well organized. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had the all you can eat lunch Soup and Salad. I tried the French Onion Soup and Potato Soup. Both were hot, flavorful and delicious! Usually when it comes time to pay separate checks that can be s big mess. Not so here. Everything flowed very easily and comfortably. The place is very clean. It is not overly noisy. The food was delicious and flavorful. We all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Parking was easy right out front. The restroom was very clean. They have a full Bar. I really think Outback Steak House has sold out over the years. Prices are getting higher portions are getting smaller the only thing that stays the same is the big silverware.
