My family from out wanted to eat here. We went in at 6pm on a Saturday evening. Seated at 6:45pm which is normal. But wasnt offered a drink until 30mins after we sat. Ordered our meal an hour later. We ordered ribs, lobster feast platter, 2 kids meals and two sides of mac and cheese and a sandwich. By the time we were finished eating it was 10:30pm. Kids got hangry. We came here for an early dinner around 4pm Sat. Decided to grab a booth in the bar, and it's a good thing we did, since that's where our server Josh was working. Josh came by a few minutes after we sat down and took our drink and food order. I decided to order the Coconut Shrimp $9.99 as my main course and added a Baked Potato $2.99 My husband decided to get the 3-Point Bloomin' Onion $12.99. Josh brought us our drinks as well as some of their yummy wheat bread. I couldn't believe how plump the 9 Coconut Shrimp were, and they were perfectly cooked. My husband's 3 Point Bloomin' Onion was HUGE!! I even had some and he still didn't finish it. Came here on a Saturday night to celebrate my SIL's birthday. This is the first time visiting this location. We had the friendliest server. There were a few mistakes on our bill but she was quick to correct them without hesitation. The appetizers were good. We chose the cheesy fries, sautéed 'shrooms, coconut shrimp and bloomin' onion. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and was nicely seasoned. However the Caesar salad was weird. The dressing was heavy handed and didn't even taste like Caesar. I couldn't eat it. They've los that elegance of food detail when they would prepare their Ahi Tuna appetizer dish that worked as a meal. They would prepare the Ahi on a bed of crisp romaine lettuce w long sliced tuna slices slightly cooked on the edges and peppered to perfection on the edges. There were two dipping sauces both complementing the Ahi Tuna. NOW it's a bed of cabbage with 1 dipping sauce and a plop of Wasabi. Visually unappetizing. So I had my hopes for this place since I've been here for dinner a couple of times pre-Yelp and had decent experiences. Then why, oh why, was lunch hour so bad...?!?!?!? First of all, the service was horrible. I think they were short staffed because they only had a couple of waiters/waitresses covering the whole restaurant. But on the other hand, it wasn't horribly busy. I've seen waiters who had full sections to take care of and they did a way better job at serving everyone than what our waitress was able to accomplish with only 4 tables to serve. Though she was attentive at our drink refills, everything else was unnoticed. The food was abysmal. The bloomin onion and my caesar salad were not bad, but those would be hard to mess up. My french dip sandwich was dry even after dipping. My mom's babyback ribs were lackluster, and my dad's steak was overcooked, not to mention shrank 10 fold during the cooking process. I have frequented several locations (Pleasant Hill, Elk Grove, San Diego, San Mateo and now Pittsburg) numerous times. We all ordered steaks with varying sides. I had the 7oz sirloin, veggies and baked potato with all the fixin's. The baked potato was slightly dry as the butter, sour cream, chives and cheese which accompanied my potato were an embarrassment. The steak was mediocre at best. Nothing a little A1 steak sauce couldn't cure. If you are looking for an exceptional, melt in your mouth, gotta have it now, talk about it for weeks kind of steak, you aren't gonna find it here, but if all you want is a reasonably priced slab of meat.... Well........I jinxed myself by saying that I was cautiously optimistic about going back. We did go back and they bombed big time. The service here is always spot on however, the drinks and food are not. My husbands steak arrived on our table so rare that it was purple. He ordered it medium. They were quick to fix it and apologize about it AFTER we brought it to our servers attention. My prime rib (which I regretted ordering the minute I did) came to the table with the consistancy of a roll of wet toilet paper. And zero flavor. I came here Wednesday night with my mom . The parking lot was pretty full so I thought there's be a long wait but we were seated right away. Following being seated I could tell the place got pretty busy, nonetheless service was pretty good. We were seated at a booth and the happy hr menu was on the table, it wasn't happy hour ha. Ordered a bloomin onion, so yummy and a vodka/soda water. The drink took a minute to get there and was pretty weak for $8, but wasn't too bad. I didn't like that it was so dark, there was a dim light at each table. We were both too full for our entrees so ordered them to go. I got a 7 oz sirloin steak, which was good even warmed up and my mom got her favorite, Alice's spring chicken. My second drink weaker than the first.We ordered a cheesecake to split with raspberry sauce. It was my favorite part. The 4 stars is really for the service. Wow, so much hate. I actually love coming here for steak. If we're craving steak in the area, this is where we go. And if we're at some other similar restaurant, I never order the steak because I know it won't be as good as Outback's. I order the exact same thing every time we come here now: the Outback steak special. It's a 7oz sirloin with 2 sides for about $14. I always pick the wedge salad and their french onion soup. I don't care much for any of their other sides. We just got back from another visit and my meal was just perfect. The steak cooked perfectly, with a delicious rub. My boyfriend ordered the same thing, except with baked potato and a house salad (eh), but he said his steak wasn't as flavorful as mine. That's why the 4 stars instead of 5. It does seem like there is some inconsistency in how the steak is cooked at times. Usually it's cooked exactly the way we order it, but sometimes, it's over or underdone. The wedge salad consists of a big wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with cherry tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese dressing, blue cheese crumbles, and some sweet balsamic vinegrette. I used to stare at other people ordering this and drool. I did a little happy dance when I later realized I could choose this as one of the entree sides. The boyfriend isn't a big fan of blue cheese, but I practically lick the plate clean every time. The french onion soup is crazy good and worth every one of the 1,000 calories. (I'm being facetious. I'm not sure if there are actually 1,000 calories in it--maybe just 900.) The broth is great but what makes it stellar is the soaked piece of bread and the perfectly toasted cheese on top. I can't comment much on anything else on the menu because we so rarely order anything else. Their ribs, from what I remember, were awesome. Their chocolate thunder cake was awesome (even for a non-chocolate lover like me). BF once tried some type of tilapia that was offered for a limited time and he thought that was awesome. There have been things we've tried that we thought were just ok (blooming onion, wings, bbq chicken, carrot cake are a few that come to mind), but sticking to the Outback Special, I'm always immensely satisfied at the end of the meal. I don't typically like Outback Steakhouse, but we came here and really enjoyed ourselves. We were seated in the bar area at a quiet, corner booth. Our server was good at listening to what our type of yummy sounded like, and helped me decide between two entrees. She was right, my salmon was bomb! Hubby's meat entree was kind of bland, but a touch of salt did the trick. Better than being oversalted. She checked in on us just often enough, and suggested a really nice drink, sangria? This is not one of the better Outbacks. Known for being a steakhouse, the cooks should probably understand how to cook a steak and be able to confirm how well done it is. Out of the two times the crew ate there, we ordered 8 steaks total and 4 had to be remade. Medium is not gray and very firm. During our first visit, a woman at the table next to us had to send hers back as well for being too well done. Everything else was fairly standard. She didn't give me a hassle when I didn't want the Mac and cheese I kept having her go back for sour cream and a1 sauce then she put cheese on my cousins fried no extra charge. She checked IDs very thoroughly which is good but bad for me aha. Anyways to the food, I honestly wasn't pleased. Steak was CHEWY! YUCK!! Mac and cheese had too much pepper.
