Filet mignon medium rare at outback steakhouse.
    Steve H.

I've been eating at the outback here on Howe Avenue in Sacramento for over 20 years. I just had the 9 ounce steak filet mignon with lobster and everything turned out perfect. Look at the picture I ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and it came out exactly the way it should be tender, juicy, and medium rare. I recommend this place as it is a local to go place for steak, so please visit and eat here when you get a chance.

Had a good time dining here. The service was better than our last visit. For appetizers, there's complimentary bread with butter. We also ordered chicken wings and fried mozzarella sticks. As always, I got my favorite baby back ribs with a side of mashed potatoes and potato with bacon soup. My toddler had the toowoomba with broccoli and asparagus as sides. My husband got the filet mignon and lobster tail and enjoyed it more than his order last time. The food was good and satisfying. I just didn't like that we were seated across the window with the sun directly on our faces.

3.5 stars Solid food with some more than decent service. Enjoyed the huge portions and steak cooked just how I asked. My fiancee enjoyed her Alice springs chicken. Dinner made for a good date night. Restaurant was less than half full but it was still nice to see an old classic chain restaurant such as Outback open and doing well on a Friday night.

My best friend was in town; with his sister from out of state, and looking for somewhere quick where we could grab a bite to eat. The only catch is it had to be Keto friendly. We both enjoy Outback and remarked how it had been a while, so we headed out. They have a pretty nice size parking lot in the back, there was hardly no wait and we made it in time for their weekday lunch specials which end at 4. Our waitress Ami was absolutely wonderful, she would check in on us, answer our questions and make great recommendations. This location was doing a charity, where by ordering an alcoholic beverage they would donate a dollar towards a charity that dealt with assisting staff during financial hardships. All of our food came out fresh, hot and correct! We of course split a blooming onion, the batter on these is so amazing and would love for the staff to post a video on how they cut it like this lol. We in addition split some wings, omg they got a little kick but this dry rub is phenomenal and I will be back just for the wings! My lunch special included a tri-tip sandwich and one side, I opted for the garden salad. But the additional options are broccoli, rice, or fries. My friend got the steak, couldn't get a photo of that as he devoured it lol. His sister got the ribs but did mention the sauce has a little spice to it which caught her off guard, we didn't mind it. We loved our experience and will for sure be back again on another lunch outing!

    Her wedge salad was impressive...

came in for the 3-course starting at $14.99. being in California i just knew it wasn't going to start at that price, and i was definitely right!!! i believe start was $17.99? --- upgrading to the half rack entrees is $27.49 --- upgrading to 6oz sirloin is $22.49. the soup starters were good i recommend the chili and the caesar salad. upgrade the dessert to the brownie and ice cream. that was worth it.

Solid food! I gave this four stars because the service was good and the food was decent. I would definitely come back. The onion is a must!

The service was great very attentive. Food was excellent! My steak was cooked to perfection and the side blue cheese wedge was a meal in itself!

I'm really torn on this review. We went in for my grandmas 82nd birthday. There were 4 adults. I want to start off with the good. Our Server Riley was amazing. She was attentive without hovering and was super nice and conversational with the old ladies lol. She made the visit worth it. The food started off very strong, the appetizers were 10/10. We had the Bloomin Onion and the mozzarella boomerangs. Delish! The soups were good as well. That however is where the good food ended. The pecan and blue cheese salad was made with a very old iceberg lettuce mix not appetizing, it could have been so much better. The wedge salad was ok. The chicken sandwich was good but lacked flavor. The nail in the coffin was the steak and shrimp pasta. Two of us ordered it. The sauce was completely flavorless and bland. We had to ask for parm and load with salt and pepper to make it edible. Considering this is a steakhouse I was expecting a spot on piece of meat. This was not it. This was by far the worst piece of meat I have ever eaten anywhere. I hate saying that but it was so bad. The taste was like some sort of gamey death. The texture was like mush but somehow still stringy. I'm not sure what was going on with this meat. I would think maybe a fluke but it was the same in both plates. No one ate the meat after one bite. Super disappointing, especially for the price. Would we go back? For appetizers and the service, for sure, but we wouldn't go back for dinner.

Some food was cold and all was way overpriced. Why are chains nowadays neither good nor cheap? Worst Outback and definitely worst steak experience I've had. I got a steak sandwich that came with au just. It was good and hot, but cost $26! Mac and cheese was cold and didn't taste fresh.

The food is exactly what you would think of for a chain restaurant. 3.5/5 I ordered the sirloin and ribs. I was surprised that my sirloin was actually cooked right. The sirloin was a little tough but still tasted good. Ribs was a little lackluster. I ordered a side of bloom petals and it was sad. The onions were partially breaded. The blooming burger was moist and tasty but very heavy. Staff was very nice and made sure we received updates on the wait times of our meal.

Get the bloomin burger, it's freaking delicious! This day we came after seeing their special on t.v. $14.99 gets you this burger with veggie, fries or mashed potatoes. You also get a side salad or potato soup and also a slice of cheesecake.

We haven't eaten at outback in a while but my daughter wanted to go there. I went with my 2 daughters. We ordered blooming onion when order our drinks, but unfortunately, the blooming onion was sitting on the counter which the server didn't get it and was given to us later. We got the Caesar salad before we got the blooming onion. We also order the prime rib sandwich, Steak and shrimp and baked sweet potato, steak and Alice springs chicken with broccoli, carrot cake and a drink.

When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.

We ordered it medium rare, and it was rare and a tad cold. That was probably due to the service. Our waiter was the only one covering the entire floor, which included a big party in the back. That led to long wait times for food. Overall place is nice, food is consistent, just maybe a tad understaffed.

She patiently explained the menu and answered all of our questions. We ordered across the menu: a ribeye, a filet, the salmon, and one of the daily specials, scallops. We also ordered the Brie and bacon jam appetizer and one of our party had a Caesar Salad. There were a couple of substitutions: extra spinach instead of mashed potatoes with the salmon and fingerling potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes with the ribeye. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as well. Everything was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. The proteins were substantial, well worth the price. We tried two desserts, the crème brûlée and the banana cheesecake. They matched the quality of the entrees. Everyone remarked on how great the sourdough bread that was brought to the table was. As the ladies in our party said, you could make a meal out of the bread along with some cheese and wine. We were seated in one of the side rooms, which didn't seem to hinder the service at all. Our water glasses were promptly refilled. It was a great experience.

FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience! AMBIANCE it's very nice inside. super cool bar when you first walk in. lots of spacious seating so you're not sitting on top of one another and modern decor. after having worked in F&B, i totally understand the industry; some nights people call out, larger parties consume the kitchen, etc. but for the price, nothing really seemed to blow us out of the water :( hopefully it was just a bad night that we went. it has a great reputation for a reason! hoping the next visit is a better experience!
