Severely disappointed in their service today. My husband and I have visited multiple times before and visited for the first time today with our infant daughter. Made a reservation for 3 stating 2 adults and 1 baby needing a high chair. Came to check in and hostess informed us that they didn't have a high chair because they don't get babies that eat their and that she should of called us to let us know. She asked us "was that still going to work?"......I still needed to eat food for dinner right? Honestly felt really discriminated against because we came with a baby. If that was the case their policy should clearly state that they did not allow children. They managed to find a high chair and my daughter barely made any noise during our dinner. For dinner, we had the garlicky prawns, which came with 4 shrimps and a small side of greens (perfect for someone who's not too hungry), mashed potatoes, and the linguine. Bartender was excellent had to use him to supplement the waiter's duties, very responsive (table was adjacent to the Bar). Wife asked for doggie cartons and waiter did not offer to porter the remains. Otherwise a pleasant experience. TLDR: Cute and quaint special-date-night or out-of-town family restaurant with delicious food (and a different menu each night), attentive service, and a beautiful ambiance hidden in all the details. RESERVATIONS: Made a reservation here with my boyfriend for his birthday dinner after yelping nicer steakhouses in the IE, and this consistently came out on top. Reservation process was really easy on Yelp, although I did it on the phone because there were no available reservations when I wanted to come (turns out the entire restaurant was rented out for a private event), so I opted for another date. OUTSIDE: On a quiet street in front of city hall with plenty of street parking and a small lot. After dinner my boyfriend and I had a nice time walking around the grassy area, and there is a nice picture spot right in front of the restaurant. INSIDE: So. Cute. The decor is absolutely beautiful. Even the bathrooms are decorated really nicely. Makes you feel like you're in a small bistro in the countryside. AND (this set me over the moon), the waiter noticed that my bag was in my lap and offered a basket for me to place it in next to me so my bag wouldn't be on the floor :O who thinks of that?? My boyfriend eats like there's no tomorrow, and between the 2 of us we finished about 2/3 of it. Massive, and delicious with a really nice crust. We also had the crispy brussel sprouts which were surprisingly really good. Similar to kale chips but better and with cheese. And we also had the garlic cheese bread, which was also good, but not the star. AMBIANCE: So lovely. There was live music with a guitarist playing pop covers, and he also took requests. The hostess brought out a birthday dessert for my boyfriend with chocolate mousse (quite yummy), so the guitarist started playing the happy birthday song without the singing (which my boyfriend really appreciated since he hates being sung to in public like that). This place exudes of someone with good taste who takes pride in making your dining experience enjoyable in every aspect. Prie fix meals are your only choice, $29 on Fridays and Saturdays, less on week nights. Three courses, with 5 choices in each category. Each choice was intriguing, creative, and frustratingly seductful. Dinner for the two of us tonight... First course: Suspended salad (a green salad elevated on thin cracker bread). Fried brussel sprouts with lemon aoili house made and grated parmesan. As other reviewers have said, the brussel sprouts are very memorable. Second course: Braised Short ribs over mashed potatoes, and pork tenderloin topped with artichoke puree and fried spinach, beautifully presented on top of potato rounds and a delicate cheesy sauce. The pork tenderloin was lucious. The braised short ribs were melt in your mouth tender. The vegetables and mashed potatoes, perfection. Third course: Black pepper donuts with strawberries and whipped cream, and a warm chocolate lava cake. Both great choices. There were no failures. This meal was consistently wonderful. The portions were just right for us. While we exchanged bites, we did so cautiously because of the smaller portion sizes. And I wanted to lick the plate after each course just to prolong the experience. If anyone wanted to complain, it would be from someone who had a larger appetite. They would probably be stopping off for something to eat after dinner, although I don't know why. If that were the case, I would suggest eating before rather than after, so the last taste in your mouth is your meal, here. This place was wonderful. And the service, the best. The girls and I had an impromptu date night planned.. or unplanned really. It's a bit difficult for me to get away during weeknights cause the kid keeps me relatively busy, but I was able to make an exception this time. I relayed a few suggestions for the resto and we decided on Owen's Bistro. I hadn't been here in a few years and was excited to see what they've done to their menu since my last visit. The restaurant is beautiful. Small, dimly lit, very ntimate, perfect for date nights or a fancy shmancy dinner without having to empty your pockets. Take note boys (and girls)! The owner, lovely lady, greeted my friend by name before we even entered their doors. Granted we were probably the only reservation for the evening --but regardless, that set such a good tone for the rest of our night. I cannot say enough about the service. Ms Kelly was friendly but not invasive, bubbly but not annoying and imparted such an uplifting vibe about her. She recommended wines/ drinks that truly made our meals much more enjoyable. Everything on the menu sounded fantastic. But here's a breakdown of what we shared: Bread basket - Easily in my top 5 breadbaskets over the course of my lifetime, and I've had many, many of them. The bread was buttery, chewy outside, soft inside. Wow. If I wasn't so diet conscious I would have eaten it all myself. Fried beets - I've never been a fan of beets until recently, well no,I still don't like them much, but these were just awesome for someone barely beginning their venture into eating this reddish purple root (veggie? fruit?) Mac and Cheese - I wasn't a huge fan, but mainly because the bleu cheese was very overpowering. That definitely did not affect my thoughts of our meal, since bleu cheese kinda does that to most dishes. Loved the flash fried spinach on top. Gnocchi - Not my favorite dish, but the creamy caper sauce was light, flavorful and paired well with the gnocchi. Pork Chop - Star entree of the night for me. It was perfectly seasoned, great kick, tender, and went really well with the black beans. I could eat this all day. Duck Confit and waffle - Savory waffle and crispy duck. Delish. This is a must try. Mexican Hot Chocolate Panna Cotta - Abuelita would lick the bowl. Banana bread pudding - The girls really enjoyed this, exclaiming "oh my god" on their first taste. Owen's Bistro is really a surprise. The biggest thing that got me was the location.. it's in Chino, where all the cows and flies reside. The inside sitting is small but the outside (with roof but more considered outdoor sitting) is pretty big. Live music playing at night.. So we sat inside to avoid that. Food was great! Salmon was extremely fresh and flavorful. King Dungeon Crab was fresh and cooked very well, paired with delicious veggies. The beets salad was unexpectedly prepared but very well prepared. Our go to place for a perfect evening. Food is wonderful with a blend of flavors and textures, variety of choices including vegetarian (we let them know when making reservation). Food is only surpassed by the service. Staff are almost Psychic in anticipating when to approach the table to refill water or any needs. Lets start out that this place was shared to us by a friend. We made the reservation and entered our credit card ( required to secure our reservation) We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday night. Our first impression was " what a cute place and the ambience was nice. We waited with another couple to be seated. The bartender took our name and we waited. The table was nicely dressed and the spacing was good. First thing we noticed was there was not an assigned server to our table. So we had many people addressing us. Our dinner order was taken prior to drinks. Our drinks took a little time to arrive, a glass of house red and a premium bourbon. the drinks arrived in a slow manner and the wine was good, the bourbon was a light pour. We saw another table who was seated after us get thier food and drinks. We had to ask for our bread (which you pay for) and finally a plain french loaf arrived at our table. We noticed some chit chat going on behind us and a man walked out with his guest yelling " this place has s__t service and proceeded to yell at everyone in the establishment how horrific the service was. He yelled to go to a different place down the road. It was a bit disturbing. My husband ordered a different bourbon a less expensive one. It again took awhile and when the drink arrived he proceeded to drink and the "older women" came over and said that they accidently poured the wrong bourbon and poured the premium. She asked after he took a sip or two if he wanted to send it back or pay the premium. ??? REALLY?? Your Mistake He opted to finish the drink (were they going to take it back and pour it back into the bottle??) At this point between the sub par service and the drink situation and the screaming customer we were really fed up.. Our dinner came from again a different server, food was decent but NOTHING special. A tomahak steak with minimal seasoning, plain mashed potatoes, steamed asperagus and let me say the salads we recieved prior were that of a coffeeshop. At this point another couple next to us bypassed dessert and said " lets get out of here worst place ever" They had several servers walking around as if they were confused. We did see someone with an apron leave? The dessert was some type of custard with granola on top, gave a breakfast vibe. We got our bill, and tipped 15% which if it was up to me, I would have left zero. But they stood there with the credit card reader in your face watching you decide on which tip button to push. We actully pushed zero and left a cash tip. Will we be back.. NO service was horrific and food was sub par. If your going to spend $300 + on a meal I expect steller service and phenomanal food. A bit of advice NEVER charge the customer for your mistake..And when a scene is made at your establishment maybe a complimentary dessert or cocktail to soften the "ruined meal" We dont get date night very often, but when we do we expect good service, good food and a knowlegable wait staff!! read more

It was good but for two people, the portion was a little small, so I'd recommend ordering one each if you want a more filling salad. I loved my salmon.
