Great service, I got the oxtail soup which was delish but it doesn't come with rice so I had to make my own when I got home. My soup included 3 nice sized oxtails but only 1 dumpling ,I had to boil the ox tails at home for and additional 30-40 minutes so the oxtail could get tender but they were good but I would prefer a few more dumplings. The beef pies are pretty but fall apart when you pick them up but they have good flavor. I will return to try something different. No five stars because I didn't get rice or more then one dumpling so I had a broth, meat and no starch to eat it with. Taste just like Jamaican ox tails minus the rice. Not sure if the plantains were good because I don't like plantains but they looked good. read more

I went a couple of weeks ago. First of all, service was very good and the employees were friendly. Food- overall very good. We both ordered Paella , the seafood and meat. The flavor is spot on for Spanish cuisine- they do not use very spicy ingredients so it absolutely hit the mark. The seafood was very fresh and the dish fed 2-3 people. My only suggestion about the paella was I was hoping for the crunchy little bits of rice at the bottom of the dish, that was missing but I would order it again. We also ordered as an appetizer the plantains , that needs work. It was overly salted and not fried through all the way I would not order that again. We shared a salad which was very fresh and flavorful. What I did appreciate was an "amuse bouche" of little pickled cucumbers, it was very refreshing and a nice start to the meal. Husband ordered a 4 roses Manhattan? Oh, the dessert! Very good it was a coconut ice cream , warm little cake underneath- nice ending to a great meal. The vibe there is welcoming and the music was "peppy" and not too loud. I look forward to returning and dining inside. The pricing is in line with other restaurants in the area. read more

We were a party of 4 with reservations for a weekend lunch. No wait. We were given the option to sit at any 4-top table we wanted outdoors. Unfortunately, all the 4tops were partly in the sun. As the Earth rotated, the sun became unbearable. I politely asked a lady if there was anyway we could have an umbrella placed by our table. She did not respond, rolled her eyes, and proceeded to do what I had asked. I thought that was rude, but whatever (rolling my eyes). We ordered family style for the table: Jerk Tofu: looked like french toast. a little on the spicy side. Ceviche: served with plantain chips. The chips were a little hard, but the ceviche was really good. Jerk Shrimp: a little on the greasy side. Really tasty Oyo Paella: the large is not THAT large. Had good flavor, but a little oily. Street food double: It was like beans on a bready tortilla... but it was chickpeas and bara. It was good, but unremarkable. Banana bread pudding dessert: the highlight. Get this. Pine Tart Dessert: it's like a turnover. It was good. Cocktails were creative and refreshing. Toward the end of our meal, we continued to order cocktails. The servers took some empty plates away, and repeatedly asked us how we were doing and if we needed anything. They did this like 4 or 5 different times which was very uncomfortable... as if they were trying to get us to leave. Anyway, I'm not the expert on this cuisine, but if you've never had Latin American/ Caribbean cuisine before, you should definitely try it. After wine tasting in Livermore we decided to have dinner at Oyo. We had a beautiful dinner. The food was excellent. It was my first time here and I will definitely come back. There were eight of us in our family, so we were able to try various dishes which we all enjoyed. Everyone enjoyed their drinks as well. I can't stop thinking about eating here. It's very rare that I find food that is so delicious it makes me happy, but Oyo does. On top of the delicious food and friendly, attentive service they can customize their dishes to accommodate food allergies! I had the Paella Oyo on both days that I ate here. The second time with the shrimp on the side due to an allergy and it was so awesome to be able to share. Usually dishes are already made and you can't customize. I was thrilled. We also ordered the Jerk Half Chicken, Dhalpuri Roti and Calypso Ceviche. Everything was delicious and so many GF options. I could eat here everyday. Everything was homemade including the citrus creme fresh that was on the jerk chicken. The chicken and the braided beef were both succulent while still falling of bone tender. Great local family run establishment that certainly something that Main Street Pleasanton desperately needs. Food is average. Ordered oxtail, jerk chicken and seafood paella. I am huge on oxtail, but this was quite disappointing, flavor tasted like beef gravy. Jerk chicken was dry, and seafood paella had more sausage and chicken than seafood. I much prefer Back A Yard in San Jose or Menlo. Much more flavorful and they have great spicy sauce. read more

I never had a bad experience on Caribbean food until this one. Went here last night for pre fathers day dinner and was very disappointed. Everything we ordered was over cooked. My chicken jerk was so dry that it almost got stock in my throat. My wife's seafood paella was over cooked as well, the squid was so hard and chewy, the fish the same and clam was dry. Great food if you want Cubano cuisine. Had Cuban Caesar salad with the Jerk shrimp. Soft billows of parmesan cheese over a generous mound of fresh romaine lettuce. Large shrimp cooked in good Cuban spices. My wife had the short ribs. Great sauce. Tender and delicious. read more

We got the Oyo Pepper Pot and the Paella Oyo, the first one was way too spicy and the paella was a real joke : rice was completely tasteless and overcooked and not even the paella grade one; the meat and seafood was quite dry as well as the full dish. From the impeccably bright and cheerful exterior dining space Oyo has created, to the exquisite cuisine... you're not going to want to miss this. Highly recommend anything plantain-related on the menu. They do a lovely job with flavor profiles and textures. We loved their jerk tofu (me) and chicken (hubs), and enjoyed a bottle of local Wente wine with our lunch last time we dined there. They have been creative during Shelter In Place, providing ample outside seating and live music when Main Street was closed. Next up for me - trying to get down there for brunch and mimosas! Oh where do I start, the jerk chicken was not jerk chicken, it was charred chicken (very burnt skin) not great flavor. All Entries are served with no sides, so you will have to spend extra money to add rice to your meal, yeah it was just a big plate of burnt chicken with some soggy plantan thrown on top, so I added rice and beans of course (rice tasted like it was from 3 days ago and served cold lol. Side of old cold rice $10 burnt chicken plate $25 way way way over priced. The food took a very long time to come out with a very young incompetent server coming over to the table a few times to apologize. Then after, when I got back home I felt like I was gonna throw up and just went to sleep like I was sick. Needless to say I won't be going back to this over priced burnt chicken stomach sick place. Came here for lunch on the patio. Every aspect of the experience was wonderful. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive, the patio space is well decorated, comfortable, and warm, and the food was amazing - complex flavors and really tasty.
