I don't know how this place has been around without me knowing after living in the Bay Area for 8+ years. Do you know how hard it is to find Roti in CA?!! The food is incredible, and well seasoned. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu because we were so surprised they had the selection. If you have just moved from the East coast, or are of Latin/Caribbean descent this will put you at ease, when a craving hits. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. read more

Went for Valentine's Day expecting Caribbean food. Did not get that at all. They were doing a set menu which came with a Caesar salad, a choice of an entree, and some guava dessert. The salad was solid, just a little salty. The entrées I tried were the filet mignon, the scallops, and the lobster-crab carbonara. Starting with the fillet, it was nothing outstanding. Just an average steak, but for what I payed was expecting a bit more. The scallops were cooked well, but didn't have any flavor, and it's garnish was mediocre at best. The carbonara, for the was nothing crazy. I thought it could use some more salt. I kept eating and then I started finding pieces of the lobster or crab's shell in the dish. I found at least four pieces of shell in my pasta. Lastly, the dessert. It was a sticky guava desert that was very average. It tasted too sweet and the garnish didn't really do much to elevate it or balance it out. I think that this restaurant should stick to their original dishes, because I have gone before and it tasted very good. Overall, I'm just disappointed with what I payed 60$ (per person for 3 people) for. read more

Ordered dinner delivered to support a small business during this madness. We got the pholourie, fried green plantains, goat curry and the paella. Everything was delicious, with lots of flavor and a good amount of heat in the curry and the mango sauce for the fritters. Just be careful of all the small chunks of bone in the curry, but it will make you eat it slowly to savor every bite. We'll definitely try this again. read more

Wow wow wow. Finally tried this restaurant and it lives up to it's hype. We had the pork shoulder, tostones, and tropical salad. And the Pine Tart omgeeee. The staff was so sweet and the chef, so charming and obviously loves what he provides. Can't wait to return. read more

My boyfriend and I met in the Caribbean and eating here took us back to our first days. I can confidently say that this is the best and most authentic Caribbean cuisine you can hope for in California. The plantains are to die for. The chickpea fritters are addictive. We had a great experience at this place. When we arrived we had no reservation. We were greeted by Vivien (sorry if I misspelled) and another young girl. They were able to accommodate us and gave us a table right away. Our waitress Brenda was very pleasant and took our order right away. To our surprise, we didn't wait too much for the food. The food and the drinks were another surprise. They were so delicious. Nothing to complain. Going here is well worth the trip if you love Caribbean food. read more

The waitress was friendly and courteous. We ordered a seafood paella, jerk shrimp, street food doubles(similar to papusas) and pholouri. thought it was tasty and had good texture. The only problem is - Caribbean food is not my thing. The dishes tend to be more carb- laden/rich. The jerk flavor was good but was swimming in a lot of oil so if I hadn't known better, I wouldn't have known the spices had to be scooped up from below. read more

good food! But now I remember why I didn't return. We went there when it opened and it was a Friday night and it was loud. We could not even talk across the table. We returned on a Monday night when it was quiet maybe? Nope, they had music blasting through their speakers and the walls didn't help matters, the sound bounced and we could talk a little, but it was difficult. I suggest a bit of sound deadening on the ceilings or walls. But the food was excellent as was the drinks. We had the octopus salad and the paella. One of my absolute favorite restaurants of all time, which just happens to be here in a town of many great restaurants. It's like travelling to central/south america, but not having to get on a plane. The attention to quality and detail is everywhere, from the food to the decor--and certainly the staff. We decided to try something new on the weekend and this place was it. We made reservations, thinking it would be a long wait, but there was no wait. The review is for the service, not the food. We were greeted and seated right away. The drinks were great, as well as the food. But the waitress took our order and we never saw her again until we left. She literally took our order and left. No one checked on us or asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We flagged the hostess down for another glass of water. And I think the busboy gave us our check. I have wanted to try this place for a while because of all the great reviews and my husband and I want to support good Pleasanton restaurants. Oyo did not disappoint! We started with the Street Food Doubles. It was a chickpea stew resting on top of a warm soft "pita". So good. I ordered the Run Down sea bass and hubs had the Oyo Pepper Pot. Both were so good. The sea bass was cooked light and a little flaky and sat on top of purple potatoes with a light cream sauce. The pepper pot was unlike any dish we have had. Rich, brown flavorful sauce over a braised short rib. It was served with two pieces of warm bread that soaked up the sauce. Yum!! Don't walk, run to this gem! My favorite lunch or dinner destination! So happy that this restaurant opened near us. Interesting decor, awesome food and customer service. We have gone there 3 times and each time every thing was superlative! Our favs- jerk Shrimp - 5-6 plump pieces in the most delicious dipping oil with herbs and tennis roll( bread). The pumpkin soup with a hint of spice, the green plantain crisp, and the phillorie? We always have the jerk chicken for the main course. Awesome flavor and huge portions. 1 dish is more than enough for 2 adults after a round of appetizers! Desert is limited to a pineapple tart with coconut ice cream and another ice cream trio. But not complaining- it's good and in any case we do not have space for desert after the delicious main course! The owner always comes and introduces himself and all the staff are very attentive and warm. Recommend 100%. And taking our friends and family whenever they visit us! read more

We ordered the ceviche, paella, and fritters for our luncheon. Everything was delicious and the only criticism is the dipping sauce that came with the fritters. Amazing service and food! You can tell everything is made from scratch and authentically made. Nothing was pre made or previously frozen. The owner knows how to create dishes with the right ingredients and spices. Excellent service. I have tried the chicken tortilla soup, pumpkin soup, seafood paella, rundown fish, and pineapple dessert. All tasted delicious! You won't regret any of it.
