Not the biggest fan of this place. We ordered beer on tap and it was super flat. We got the truffle fries as an appetizer and the fries were tiny, like the small pieces at the end of a frozen bag that weren't used. This was very disappointing. Then I got my lasagna with a salad and it looked delicious but they gave me a salad with NO dressing, not even on the side. I thought it was dressed so imagine my surprise biting into those bitter raw greens! As for the lasagna it was SWEET. Not appetizing at all. Great new vegan business to have in town ! First and foremost they donate 100% of their profits to various charities. So you can feel good about eating here! Eat good, do good. The food here is delicious with great flavors. I really enjoyed the maiitake mushroom baos. The mushroom was grilled perfectly. Overall portions are in the small side. But I felt satisfied as the food was filling. In fact I wasn't too full or uncomfortably stuffed after-- which is how you're supposed to feel after a meal anyway! Pretty unique menu which is kinda "gourmet". They also have a great selection of vegan desserts. I loved the affogato with vegan italian cookies-- I've never seen anywhere else serve this before. The decor here is super cute. Great ambience. Pretty small space so be sure to make a reservation. I sat by the bar, and the bartender was extremely friendly! Service is excellent. Food came out fairly quickly. They have cocktails and mocktails- but I did not try any. Very good, not great. We had the maitake bao, which is delicious. We both ordered the pot pie and agreed that while the crust was excellent, it needed more mock chicken and was a little too soupy and on the bland side. The drinks were quite good but the non-alcoholic drinks were pricey. I wish their menu was more varied; maybe some appetizers in the $8-$12 range? The small plates are great, and a good value but not enough variety to put together a meal for two people if you don't want an entree. And the entree selection should be larger; only six, and two were Beyond Burgers, which I love but are widely available at this point. All in all, I'd recommend it. I came here for dinner with a friend on a Sat night and it was excellent! I'm vegan, she isn't and we both loved everything we ordered. We made a reservation the same day and were taken right on time. The decor and ambiance was beautiful, service was perfect, and we both agreed we'd come back! Next time I see a show I'll be here 100%. The cocktails were creative and beautifully done, the only downside was the price. I go to speakeasy's and hang out at bougie hotel bars - but it was $$$$. So that, and the fact that my initial entree choice was sold out, as well as the only nut-free dessert, just means I'll have to come back and try more off the menu another time. Stopped in here with a group of friends late night after a broadway show. The aesthetic is very chic and I love it. I would definitely describe this place as a millennial haven. The menu is entirely plant based with profits going to charity - which is amazing. I had the sliders which were tasty, and 2 was a perfect size order. I did wish it had a side option (no sides listed on the menu and no menu items stating which came with a side and which didn't), but I ordered a side of fries for the table and it was a generous portion. One friend ordered the burger, which was also generous in size and she enjoyed. The other friend ordered the bao buns which she said were great. None of us left foot on the plate. We ordered two desserts - the cobbler which was apple and the cheesecake. Both were tasty but the desserts felt very expensive in my opinion. Service was good, and it was a really chic late night option. Probably wouldn't stop here again if I was in town though, would try something new. read more

When I first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the modern interior as well as the specious dining area. It's always exciting to find chic vegan restaurants in the city, so I was looking forward to the experience. Everything on the menu looked interesting, and the server was very nice/attentive, until business started to pick up...and then everything went down hill. My friend and I ordered the ginger congee and the buffalo hen of the wood, which were both good. Some could argue ~$15-20 for the small portion size is expensive, but the food did seem like it was higher quality than regular vegan food. I would've enjoyed the food more if I didn't have to wait 45-50 minutes for it, and didn't get served food that we didn't order. There just seemed to be so much confusion/miscommunication among the staff because we had 2 other servers come visit our table with food that we had not ordered. It's definitely not cheap for vegan food, but I do think all of the ingredients are really fresh. Again, I feel like I would've been more impressed with the entire experience if there weren't other issues. The table next to us was also anxiously waiting for their food, so I assumed it wasn't just us that was running out of patience. 100% of the restaurant's profit goes to charity, so I really like that concept, and there were plenty of other things on the menu that I wanted to try out. The food was incredible! My boyfriend and I went before we saw a Broadway show, which it was super convenient for, and it was great. The food came out super quick too which was nice. I got the chicken Caesar wrap (everything is vegan btw) and it was freakin amazing. We shared the crabby cakes as an app and those were awesome too. And my boyfriend got the maitake mushroom sandwich with Thai sauce instead of Buffalo and he said it was great and was surprised how crunchy the mushroom was. Definitely recommend! read more

P.S. Kitchen is a new vegan restaurant (that tactfully doesn't advertise upfront as such) that donates all profits to charity. The mechanism underlying the restaurant's great mission is to leverage the power of NYC fine dining to resource vulnerable communities and make a difference. For that alone, I would give this restaurant a 5/5. As far as the food is concerned, it's good, but even for "richly artisanal food," a lot of the dishes feel really overpriced. Most of that has to do with the tininess of the portions; this is naturally a characteristic of fine dining establishments, but the portions at P.S. are, in my opinion, particularly small. The Maitake Bao appetizer is delicious (the flavor and texture achieved in the mushrooms is incredible), but for $12 you only get two baos, and a meager spread of garnishes that hardly fills the bao itself. The Buffalo Hen of the Woods is also delicious, but for $17, you get only a few bites of food. The $16 P.S. Burger is perhaps the greatest offense, given the pre-made Beyond Meat patty (tasty, and I'm glad I got to try it, but not housemade) and the lack of fries. I just wish you got a bit more food for the price. Again, cognizant of the fine dining aspect, I've been to plenty of comparable vegan restaurants with similar prices. Perhaps one of my biggest problems with P.S. is that, even for the prices and portions, they aren't doing much new or different with their menu (I've had mushroom bao at Mother of Peal and cauliflower ones at Nix). The one and obvious bonus here is that overspending on an appetizer is at least for a good cause. In conclusion: I'm really glad I tried it, and I am wholeheartedly in support of their mission, but I don't plan to return. The food is good, but the concept isn't quite for me. read more

In terms of food, we got: Apps: 1) Spinach and artichoke Dip: least impressive of the night. Is effectively creamed spinach. Also crustini is just a terrible thing in general. In house pita chips would be A+ (also thicker, artichokier, cheesier dip would be great) 2) Colombian Potato Soup: Yum. Still not sure exactly what's in this but delicious. Downside: guy who pours it onto your plate has like a lot more soup in hi pouring cup and so it looks like you're getting a ton. Then he stops pouring prematurely. tease. First, they are a vegan plant-based restaurant without boasting as one and the same with donating 100% of their profits to charity (they also hire people as part of these charities). You would only know by reading the small print on their website or their menu. Though a bit pricey, when you remember where this money is going, it's hard to argue for lower prices. The quality of food is absolutely worth it as well. It is an up scale dining experience with interesting hand-crafted drinks (I had a turmeric drink that was amazing!) and a well thought out menu. We ordered an array of dishes, the artichokes, the baos, the carrots, and I got an Asian soup (congee I believe?). Each incredible, was not disappointed with any of it. The chef also brought out a complimentary watermelon and tomato dish. We raved about all the food, and my parents claim it to be the best restaurant they've tried in NYC so far! I visited PS Kitchen twice lately and thought it was great! On my first visit, my friend and I shared the lasagna and the pot pie. Both were absolutely delicious but sharing a pot pie is not recommended. It was sort of mole sharing a bowl of soup! The crust and filling were so tasty and hearty. And the lasagna was amazing. We also shared a cheesecake that was delicious and coconutty. On my second visit, I went during the pre-theater rush and it was a little on the slower side, which is understandable. Ive been to almost every vegan restaurant in the city and PS kitchen has -by far- been my worst experience yet. I had a $22 chicken pot pie which essentially was a burnt, greasy soup under a burnt pita-like crust and I also had a $22 Ceasar salad which was very small, had 4-5 small pieces of faux chicken, 10-12 pieces of cheap, croutons, and the whole thing was ridiculously salty. This place is phenomenal and in a super convenient location. I'm so thrilled to have a vegan restaurant in the Times Square area. Awesome tasting vegan dinner and Broadway show, it doesn't get much better than that. The food tastes like an Iron Chef made it (at least my imagination of what Iron Chef food tastes like). The flavors are crisp and unique. I highly recommend the Bao, it had a perfectly balanced mix of tangy and spicy with the most amazing kimchi. I also had the PS Burger, OMG was this amazing. It was the beyond burger served on a pretzel bun. Every bite was a flavor explosion of grilled burger, creamy thousand island, and salty soft bun. For dessert I had the strawberry-rhubarb shortcake. It had a very nice combination of sweet strawberries mixed with tart rhubarb evened out with a piece of flavorsome cake. The ambience is very inviting, especially on a cold snowy night.
