I was a little sad to see a place with such a good pun name go, but glad that Padoca Bakery was able to replace "Wok and Roll" (genius name!!!). I stopped by to grab an iced coffee after a long commute home. I had the cold brewed coffee and it was great. Nice and strong, not bitter at all. In addition, the interior was really cute and the staff extremely friendly. On my way to Starbucks to grab some breakfast passed a bakery named Padoca. I walked in to see what they had to offer. It was my first experience at this place and I was pretty impressed. The floors where clean and the lighting was good. The milks were cold and everything seemed well stocked. I asked an employee by the name shaquaya of there to give me a walk through of some of the breakfast foods they had to offer and she was well informative of the different selections. I asked her about the drinks and she explained what the ingredients that where in the drink. I didn't feel pressured or rushed during the process. This bakery is near my office. I decided to come here because my boss recommended their coffee. I was not disappointed. I especially enjoy their cold brew. I also really like their chocolate chip cookies. The PDQ is amazing; please do yourself a favor and buy some. The service is friendly and fast. My egg sandwich on a pao de queso (served with a side of kale chips) was very tasty, though it seemed a little overpriced for what it was. My coffee inexplicably tasted like it had undertones of tea - maybe the coffee was brewed in a container that had tea in it previously? The quality of the products at Padoca are very good and by now I've had a chance to sample quite a few of them. But it's getting very hard to justify the prices that they are charging. $4.50 for a tiny pastry (the Romeo & Juliet) is extremely out of line, even on the UES. Again, not that the pastry wasn't delicious, but it was gone in a few bites and to be honest, I've gotten equally good products at any Panera. Spending over $8 for a small pastry and an iced coffee (not even a particularly big one) is hard to justify. I like the concept and the area (with so many hospitals and a ton of walk in traffic) can certainly use another nice café. The staff is lovely and the décor is very pleasant. But I think that they are pricing themselves way outside of what they should. read more

Everything you'd want in a bakery. The food is delicious and high quality (I had the Romeo & Juliette roll, and the red velvet brownie-OMG), the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is lovely. I love the tea pot lights, the fun swing in the corner, and the bright, airy windows. Obviously a lot of thought and love has gone into every detail of this place. Padoca has become my weekend morning routine! As a celiac sufferer who's visited Brazil, I became a huge fan of Pao de Quejo (PDQ) - cheesy bread made with tapioca. To find a local bakery that makes it, has incredibly friendly workers, and a very cute atmosphere, I was thrilled! A bit pricey but I'm sure due to the ingredients and location in NYC. So annoyed I can't give it 0 stars. Incredibly overpriced. They try to appeal to customers through the artisanal, Brazilian taste but seriously not worth it. A tiny breakfast here cost much more than ordering in a full meal and paying delivering fees. The atmosphere is OK but they started moping the floors at 11am when the place is full of customers. Why not mop before the clients come in?? Had to eat there smelling of bleach.. and the guy nearly soaked my coat with bleach as well.. also- everything has too much cheese! Pan de queijo is a delicious Brazilian baked good but this place goes too far and not only do they use this cheese bread for a normal half and egg sandwich but they add another layer of cheese inside it! For all the artisanal, Brazilian look they go for- this is def not Brazilian at all. read more

This place is lovely. First of all the food is fantastic. Their pao de queso is amazing!! Just as good as in brazil. The other quiches are flaky bites of heaven. The sandwiches also hit the spot without being too heavy. Their hot chocolate tastes like real liquid chocolate!! Also they gave free coffee to all nurses during nurses week so the owners are clearly stand up people. The cafe is a cut place to sit and catch up with old friends. Although people work their it isn't the most comfortable for that type of thing. Maybe adding a couch or two would help. Really like this place a lot for a quick bite or coffee. read more

Walking in, this bakery is well lit with seating and even a swing on one of the tables which definitely stood out to me. I ordered one of the hot buns and a cup of coffee. Although I enjoyed my coffee and bun, I was not blown away. Perhaps I should've ordered the chocolate banana bread instead that looked quite enticing. Perhaps next time if I wander in again I will try it or one of their other offerings. read more

The food and drinks are great but the cashiers can sometimes be rude and unhelpful. Some of them are a bit unprofessional and act as if they are doing you a favor by answering your questions. They need better customer service training. Is not to say that all of them are like that because I have had wonderful experiences with a handful but it is the bad apples that make me not want to return to this place. read more

It's a lovely Brazilian bakery that has its special spin on its delicious baked goods (we especially love their chocolate swirl and banana chocolate chip muffins) and coffees. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and always remembers us when we come in.
