I decided to give this place a try and am very disappointed. You'd be much better off driving to Hawthorn for better Brazilian food at Bosa Nova (far better and more authentic Brazilian cuisine) or, if you really want Brazilian BBQ, drive a little further to By Brazil in Torrance (the best Brazilian BBQ outside of Brazil). The meats are poor quality, poorly seasoned, and overcooked. The salads are very heavy with mayonnaise and some other tangy substance that tastes like Miracle Whip. Vegetables and fruits are low quality as well. The beans clearly are cooked in sub-par cooking oils and sitting for long periods of time. It's self service buffet yet the tip options start at high rates. Brazil is known for many attributes such as its beautiful women, carnivalé celebration and meat on a stick topping the list. Or perhaps it is better and more accurate to say 'meat on a spit'. It may sound like South Park-esque teenage crass humor; but most times, Brazilian food is genuinely associated with roasted meat and lots of it. The most famous chain nation-wide to serve up Brazilian-style meat on a spit is Fogo de Chao; but Pampas Grill with locations at the famous Farmers Market and Culver City, has entered the chat. The Culver City location of Pampas Grill sits in a shopping center on Overland Ave in between Venice and Washington boulevards: if you see an LA Fitness and Yogurtland, then you are in the right place. If you're expecting an ooh la la service dining experience then Pampas Grill isn't it as this is a cafeteria/buffet style eatery where patrons queue up in a line, grab at foods ranging from salads, pastas, Brazilian cheese rolls, veggies, rice and beans to the roastery area with chicken, beef, pork and lamb before having the food weighed and priced per said weight. It's honestly a sort of uncomfortable situation, feels rushed and cattle call -ish and the restaurant is quite loud with its indoor and covered patio area seating. Pampas Grill largely has a sort of sports bar vibe. My party of four arrived to a hopping and packed Pampas Grill on a Saturday evening and settled into the buffet line. Although the sides are decent in numerical selection; none of it looks that appetizing: the broccoli in cream sauce was NOT a cream sauce but thin liquid, fried items were over-fried, nothing was fresh or vibrant in appearance and quite honestly: none of the choices were unique. They don't feel ethnic at all but like a school cafeteria meal. The roasted meats fare better in terms of appearance as they all looked succulent and roasted perfectly but the key term is: 'looked'... Sadly, being Celiac, I didn't have many GF options at Pampas Grill for my sides and was only able to grab some tomatoes in balsamic, plantains, fresh pineapple and squash. For my meats, I chose Spicy Chicken, Lamb and Tri-tip beef. There isn't much for me to say about this meal because it was just, bluntly, bad. My Spicy Chicken was some of the driest chicken I've ever had and this was confirmed by other members of my party who also had chicken (although regular chicken) and attested that theirs too was dry like the Sahara desert. I found the lamb to be too gamey (my party liked it, though) and only the tri-tip was redeeming although too fatty. I tried a bite of sausage which had terrific flavor but was also too dry. Basically, Pampas Grill fails to bring good meats to the table (pun intended) when that is the main point of the eatery. Pampas Grill is basically the Sizzler of the Brazilian restaurant world. Service wasn't up to par either at Pampas Grill. I mentioned to my associate serving me at the roastery that this was my first time there and yet he didn't welcome me nor explain their meats/make suggestions. One of my dining partners said that another associate at the meats was making annoyed faces while serving him. They just seemed to be in the "Move along!" - mode which is not the quality of service I would hope for. Pampas Grill simply doesn't do justice to Brazilian food (or Brazil) in Los Angeles and is only really suitable if you're in a hurry in the Culver City area and want to eat something somewhat off the beaten track but otherwise there is no need to go out of your way. Pampas Grill leaves a lot to be desired and has improvements to make. Go get your meat elsewhere... read more

Heaven on earth! Gotta get it off my chest, the food was delicious, the cuts of meats were amazing and seasoned well! You pay by the pound, so you load up your plate and at the end you place it on a scale. Stopped by for lunch, buffet style, at the start of the line they provide some gloves for you to put on to keep the serving area clean. Good amount of options to choose from, I kept it simple w beats and Cesar salad. The cheese bread and garlic bread is also tasty! For the meats, no disappointment, the garlic chicken was tasty, the garlic flavor was well in the chicken and not just on the skin. The steak was tasty as well and seasoned well with sea salt. All in all I would definitely return to eat here, the food is delicious and the vibe is relaxed. They have lots of tvs showing sports, and on some nights they have live bands. Parking lot can get tight sometime with the LA fitness next door but I've deemed it worth it. Enjoy! read more

Second visit! This time i come at 12 on a weekday. When it's not so busy, the picanha tastes way better. The salt is more even. The lamb is consistent, but now that the picanha is well-seasoned it's overshadowed by the picanha. Tri tip was enjoyable, but still can't beat the picanha. I wish the picanha has more charred fats around the edges though. Bacon-wrapped chicken was so dry i had to dip it to the stroganoff. This time i got the fried catfish, but was not as amazing as i thought. It's just alright. Overall Pampas is alright. It's not the best picanha in town, but at the price level it's not bad at all. Rather than getting steaks at a diner or some chain restaurants, you'd be more satisfied with what Pampas offering. read more

Well what do you know? Wishes do come true! In my last review, I mentioned that they have live music now, but I did not like the music. And I said I wish they will play Bossa Nova music since they are Brazilian. Anyway, tonight, when I stopped by to pick up some food, the live musicians on hand started playing "Mais Que Nada" (popularized by Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66). And it was a pretty good version! The musicians were a duo -- a man and a woman. The guy played the guitar and did the vocals (at least for "Mais Que Nada"), and the lady did the drums. Pretty cool! And as always food was great. I recommend Sirloin Cap (Picanha), the Sausage, Beans, including the Beans with Pork (yummy). I also recommend their nicely- sauteed Collard Greens. Also they have Fried Plantains. And don't forget the Cheese bread (Pao de queijo) ! Service is nice of course, including the cashier. read more

Daughter and I decided to go to Pampas Grill for lunch today, 5/1/24. Good thing I didn't get everything bc man, this place is expensive! If you haven't tried, this is a Brazilian restaurant, cafeteria style. You grab a tray and plate and go through the line of different salads and sides such as rice, beans, stews etc. On my plate, I got rice, beans, greens, plantains, 2 cheese breads, picanha, garlic picanha and 3 slivers of grilled pineapple. My plate was almost $35!!! Wow! This would have been a nice meal at Fogo, a nice sit down meal with service. The gentlemen serving the meats were nice and friendly but the girl at the cashier was not. She clearly looked like she didn't want to work and had no customer service training. We haven't been here in a while but dang, when she said our bill was $61.69, I literally said "oh shish" bc I didn't think my plate was worth that much. Anyhow, the picanha was good, we got medium rare and it was delicious with fatty ends. The garlic picanha was not as tender. The rice, beans, greens, plantains were also good. The best was the cheese bread! Oh my, they were cheesy, soft and addicting! That alone was worth the $ we paid. They are located in the Culver City plaza where LA Fitness is at. Parking available. Be aware and be cautious of what you put on your plate bc at the end, your plate is weighed at $15.85/lb. This will be a special type of place to go to and not a usual place for lunch. read more

Pampas grill was very satisfying. It reminds me of Fogo de Chão's little brother. It has a mini salad bar stocked with a variety of vegetables and sides and you can get as many cuts of meat that you want. The quality of the meat was above average but not the best, but again very enjoyable. You pay by the weight of your plate which if you're not careful can add up quickly. The service was stellar, the workers are constantly moving and made sure we were clear on instructions and were very knowledgeable about the meats. The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating and a fully stocked bar. Pampas is good to go to if you aren't looking for the "luxurious aesthetic" of a Fogo de Chão. I would definitely eat here again but go a lot lighter on the plate because I paid a Fogo price but did not get the Fogo quality meat. read more

Great cost to quality ratio. Everything is cooked slowly over an open flame and that's really what you are paying for here. Sides are always fresh, I've seen them replenish or remove older sides from the buffet line constantly. Nice big space with plenty of communal and individual tables both inside and out. Parking is always easy. The only area of improvement would be to enforce the plastic glove rule for the self serve buffet, from time to time I see customers elect not to wear the self service gloves. read more

I have been to this location many time , I travel from North County San Diego to eat there . Today, mother's day , we decided to eat there with the family . What a disappointment! They served us meat that was graded bellow human consumption, so hard to chew on and supposed to be picanha and maminha. We had to cut it in tiny little pieces and still was too hard. I hadn't had a Brazilian feast in awhile and it was an easy choice between this place and the Vegan place across from it. I am too carnivorous for Vegan. I was impressed with this large, efficiently run restaurant. I like buffets and had my hot, fresh smorgasbord in minutes. I was excited to see the many delicious items and heaped palm hearts salad, olives, corn, fried catfish, beets(excellent), watermelon, luscious fresh avocado slices and beef stew on my plate. Of course, I couldn't pass up the star of the Brazilian buffet show: the delicious array of meats! I ordered slices of lamb, sirloin and plump sausage dumped on my crowded plate. And how could I pass up an exotic Bohemia malt beer to wash down the food party off my plate. The nice buffet man rang up my plate weighing who knows how many pounds because I was too busy focusing on cleaning every morsel off that plate for special delivery to my taste buds and stomach. $56 which was pricey but worth it to satisfy the Carnivore within. This was my first time at Pampas. I've never heard of them, but had just left the gym and decided I would try them and get food for my son and myself. There's no meat because the carver (Guilherme) was extremely rude and I just decided not to waste their food I had already put in the tray and to cook meat when I got home. I will NEVER return. I'm big on customer service. I literally asked the server if I can have a small piece of the spicy chicken so that I can tell how spicy it would be for my young son. I was gonna buy it regardless for myself, but wanted to see if I needed to get something else for my son. This place is a self-serve styled Brazilian Steakhouse where they weigh your plate at the end where you pay for your food. We ate outside which was super nice and relaxing, as they have multiple TVs throughout the restaurant. For the most part, the sides that they had was pretty good, and the meat I got was the picanha, which was extremely delicious. We also received some desserts - the flan and strawberry cheesecake which were also extremely delicious, would highly recommend! It's by weight, so come for the meats and skip most of the filler sides. Service varies a lot. I've had friendly people, but it's more typically the IDGAF attitude assembly line style service, bordering on condescending. I still tip either way. You'll have more trouble elbowing around in line than from the actual wait staff. Not fancy inside. A good place to grab food after work or after the gym next door. read more

When the food is cooked right, this place is absolutely amazing! Only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is there have been a few times when the meat is overcooked and I haven't been able to get medium rare even when I ask. God, the food here is incredible. I like coming here when I'm not really hungry AND when I'm starving, because I can choose how much food to serve myself. The picanha (really the only cut of steak you should be getting at a Brazilian churrasco) is always perfectly cooked to your desired level and with a salty sear (literally salivating as I write this). I also especially love the lamb. Other dishes to try from the buffet bar: feijoada, Pao de queijo, salad with hearts of palm, Brazilian chicken salad, chicken stroganoff, farofa (personally don't like farofa or as my friends call it, "the sand" but you might). It can get expensive here since it's by the pound, but you are getting a very fresh and healthy/low processed meal (if you choose the right options). read more
