As a Korean American living in Southern California, I've had so many Korean Chinese fusion restaurants ever since I learned how to crawl so it's definitely one of my favorite cuisines. I've tried their Anaheim location many times so I was really glad they opened this one up not too far away from me. Here's what we ordered: **Jjajangmyeon: Honestly, one of the best jjajangmyeon dishes I've had in a while. The portions were massive and the quality was very good. Everything tasted very good but the only downside is that the veggie portion was pretty small compared to the sauce and noodles. (4/5) ** Jjampong: Delicious! Various seafood and plenty of vegetables in this dish. Everything was piping hot and absolutely delicious. (5/5) **Sweet & Sour Pork: This one was a little underwhelming. The sweet and sour glaze was good but the pork was extremely chewy. However, if you heat it up and ate it right away, it wasn't too bad. I've had better. (3.5/5) Overall, service was great, portions were great, and prices were fair. The amount of utensils they provided as well as the sides were great too. Only real downside to this spot is that the dining area is extremely small. Unless you come during off hours, I would definitely place an order over the phone for pick-up. read more

Pan Holic is a solid Chinese-Korean option in of all places Brea- for a neighborhood not particularly known for this genre of food. It's serves some solid staples- jjajjangmyun, spicy seafood soup, fried sweet and sour pork (tangsooyeok) and fried sweet and sour shrimp. Having dined here twice my favorites are the black bean noodles and sweet and sour pork. The portions are generous for the price. The interior seats only about 30 ppl or so and they are still ironing out the wait system here. This is a solid takeaway option as well. My only gripes are the unfriendly service (perhaps this makes it more authentic lol) and lack of side dishes. Otherwise a solid new option to try in Brea. read more

There are a handful of tables in the restaurant, some modern music playing in the background. Great place to get some comfort food after a target run. It is kind of exciting because there aren't many restaurants like this in the area. Would normally have to drive a bit further. The person at the counter was very nice... but could not speak any English. Some of the menu prices look nuts... but many items are quite affordable, too. I like how they opened up the space a bit from the previous Pho V1 restaurant. The music playing in the background reminds me of songs from Korean dramas. I ordered the standard jjajang noodles to go. It only took about 5-10 minutes, as they were not so busy. The noodles were well cooked and even chilled so that they wouldn't be stuck together by the time i took them out sometime later. Overall, flavors are there and satisfying. Will be back to try more. It's not bad here. Good for a quick fix if you're seeking Korean-Chinese food. The jjajangmyun gets watery if you don't eat it all within 2 minutes. The jjamppong is good but they give you a plastic spoon for the broth. The mapo tofu is terrible but the kkanppong shrimp is delicious. The fried dumplings are good but overly greasy, even when you expect it to be greasy cuz it's fried dumplings. If they would fix a few things I'd definitely go more often. read more

I liked that the jjajang wasn't too black colored but dark brownish colored, which possibly indicates that it can be a little healthier than the other jjajang with the darker sauce (but don't quote me on this). This place has a nice ambiance, and I appreciated the interior design, which was unique and pretty. But my experience was not so great. When I entered this place, I didn't feel I'm welcomed. And the food didn't quite match my expectations. I ordered four dishes: black bean noodles, seafood noodles, Mongolian beef, and sweet and sour pork. Starting with the sweet and sour pork, I could smell raw pork, so I thought the meat wasn't marinated well. The sauce was more sour compared to other korean chinese restaurants. It might be the unique recipe of this place. The black bean noodles and Mongolian beef were also disappointing, as both dishes were overly salty for my taste. I had heard that this restaurant is renowned for its seafood noodles, but, unfortunately, the seafood didn't impress me either. Given my experience, I think I might explore the original restaurant or try other Korean Chinese spots to find a better fit for my palate. read more

Oh how I loved this place! Came here after a couple hours at the mall when everything else in the mall had such long lines. My family and I were greeted warmly and seated as soon as we got in. We ordered a couple items off the menu and since we've never been here before I had questions about meals the other table had. Lovely lady who was taking our order kindly answered questions and modified certain orders so that it is not too spicy to accommodate the young eaters in our party. Am I imagining things or is Brea starting to have some legit asian cuisine? It's hard to tell from the name what this restaurant actually serves, but if you're familiar with Korean-Chinese fusion (aka "joong koog jips"), then you're in luck. If not, I'd say you're still in luck because you're about to be introduced to a whole new kind of cuisine. The signature dish is something called jja jang myun (good luck pronouncing it), or more simply, black bean noodles. This is a very traditional Korean Chinese dish that dates back centuries. I'd say it's the Korean equivalent of spaghetti and meatballs in terms of how classic and beloved this dish is. Basically it's a combination of wheat noodles (tastes better than it sounds), diced vegetables, beef, and black bean sauce. This review probably isn't doing it justice but it's iconic comfort food that needs to be tried at least once. Just don't wear a white shirt when you do, unless you're going for a Jackson Pollock type look. We got takeout and the food kept very well on the ride home. We also ordered the chili shrimp and kkangppungi chicken. Although it was good, I think I'll try the sweet and sour sauce pork next time. Also, one of the surprise hits for me was the shrimp fried rice! It's exactly what I think of when I want some asian fried rice and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a non-noodle dish. read more

Those of us who have lived in this community know this particular location has changed businesses multiple times. I hope Pan Holic stays for a long time because the food is so good. It appears to be a small family owned place because the amount of food you get for the price doesn't make sense in this current economy. We ordered for take out and food came out fairly quickly. The lady who served us did a tremendous job packaging to ensure the food would stay warm and not soggy. I was pleasantly surprised the food had good flavor and not greasy. So glad there's a Korean-Chinese restaurant in Brea now. I came with my team and shared Baekjjampong, Sweet & Sour Pork, Kkangbungi (Chicken), and Tomato Chili Shrimp. Every 2 people in our group shared 1 noodle dish and all meat dishes were shared amongst the table. It was my first time trying Baekjjampong and it was really good, the soup was light with a slight kick and I really enjoyed all the veggies and seafood in it, the portion is pretty big and we knew we would order protein, hence why we chose to share. The proteins looks expensive compared to the noodle dishes but these are meant to be shared amongst the table! Not to be eaten alone, so it's best to come with a group or be prepared to take home leftovers. All the proteins we chose were good, my favorite was the Tomato Chili Shrimp but I would really recommend any of these. I look forward to coming back!! read more

The service was solid and the owner and waiter were super nice. The food...sorry. This isn't Chinese food. It's not true Korean food either. We ordered the zhajianmian which is supposed to be the Chinese/korean version of this signature noodle. However, the pork bits were hard and dry, it was missing the tofu/bean curd dices and the Zha preserved veggies...and the sauce was super watery almost like a soup. The overall dish lacked the right flavor. We also ordered the jamppong. Portion was huge but it was missing the right flavor as well. It was simply salty with msg with some spicy sauce ... topped with frozen clams, mussels and squid rings and onions. I was starving but couldn't even eat 1/5 of it. We were truly not impressed and will not be back. Someone mentioned this place can replacement sam Woo's in Irvine. My goodness gracious. White jjamgpong taste so great. It's full of flavor and taste of fire in this rich broth. The price is reasonable and the bowl is very large. I couldn't finish the bowl by my self. I had to get my husband to finish half. The only thing is it contains way too much onions. There's plenty of clams, mussels shrimp and octopus. Though I did not see any scallops. This place is gem. As small it maybe, you have to come early so there's short wait. It's cute restaurant where locals of all ages come and eat.
