I really enjoyed this place. Definitely has a night-life feel but on a much lower key level. We went on a Sunday and the place was happening. Although the line was a little long, we waited and the hostess quickly got us a table. Beers are cheap and the ambience is excellent. Two-story place that's got a real awesome feel to it. Although the service was excellent and the ambiance was "hip", the food left much to be desired. Despite offering a wide variety, the authentic Thai dishes sorely lacked in depth of flavor and balance. The hint of white pepper found in the batter of the "shrimp cake" was a promising start but the "northern style sausage" was a bit bland which was then served with a sweet and sour sauce that did not compliment the typically tart sausage. The filet portion of the "crispy fish and mango salad" was cooked well and seasoned wonderfully but the mango salad itself was anything but. The "tofu Pahd Thai" was overly sweet and I was disappointed that it wasn't even served with a wedge of lime (as it is so typically served) to help bring some dimension to the flavor profile. The "chicken pineapple fried rice" was tasty but was a bit on the greasy side (although I must say that despite how the chicken breast looked, the slices were anything but dry and was well seasoned too). Panvimarn was recommend to me and I was really looking forward to it, how sad!! There were three of us for lunch, we started with he combination and it was fairly good, I could give that three stars. My daughter tried to order the spicy shrimp made with chicken, was told no substitutions, even if we paid the shrimp price. She then ordered the chicken curry and was told "the sauce hasn't come in yet," when she was trying to select something else she was told the sauce had just arrived, apparently it is made at their other location, therefore you can't request a spice level as in most Thai restaurants. I ordered the spicy shrimp, when it arrived I put a spoon of rice on my plate to taste the sauce and it was totally cold. When it came back they had obviously microwaved the whole plate so now the sauce was hot but rice hard and shrimp very over cooked. The third member of our party ordered teriyaki chicken that she couldn't eat, sorry don't have the details on that, all I can say is that we certainly needed the bottle of wine that we had. In my opinion this is one of Long Beach's best restaurants. Their cuisine is awesomely prepared with fresh ingredients and the taste is authentic Thai. Their signature service is friendly and attentive. The decor is classic Thai yet with a hint of modern and atmosphere is very trendy. I've come here several times with my wife for out date nights and we always leave satisfied. I recommend the coconut drinks along with your Shrimp Pad Thai. Go check it out for yourself! read more

This is by far the best Thai food I have had. I got the pad see ew and it was so good and filling, don't let the serving sizes fool you. My boyfriend got the golden chicken curry and we loved it. We have previously ordered delivery as well as dined in at the restaurant. We have usually had good experiences. Tonight we were extremely disappointed. We ordered delivery, 3 vegetarian dishes and were told it would be 45 minutes to an hour. An hour and twenty minutes later my husband called to check on our order. We were told it was en route. Between 5-10 minutes later our food arrived. The pad Thai seemed as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp as it was all solidified into one clump, but it was cold. Also our pineapple fried rice was cold. For $35 and an hour and a half wait, extremely disappointing. We will not be ordering delivery from them again. read more

I'm not sure what's worse the hair in my food or the customer service. I called to see who would be open. The voiced sounded professional yet friendly, although it was much more of a hassle to use cash versus using a card. Took my food to go, opened it & there was hair in it. A few long strands. That's lovely. I called back, was told it would be remade. I brought the food back for proof of the hair, it's not like I was going to make it up. When I came back the servers/waitresses/waiters didn't acknowledge that there was a customer. When I presented the food with the hair there was a general air of disbelief. It was as if I was lying about the long strands of long black hair on top of my tofu, my hair is short and curly so it's not like I put the hair there myself. Showing the tray of food and the box to the cooks/chefs-everyone had a laugh. Then I was told it was going to be remade. "Sorry about that." Also, the food was bland and uninspiring. Lately I have been craving more seafood than ever, I go through my phases of different food from different cultures, but just right now I'm just in love with seafood from Asian cooking, esp Southeast Asia. Panvimarn has been on my top 20 restaurants to try in a very long time, and today brought that opportunity. I must say the most raved about duck curry was very fresh and delicious, and not to forget their soft shell crab salad, was unforgettable. We also ordered Thai BBQ Chicken which was good too, and with money bag, loved it. I will come again to try the papaya salad and more seafood... Yummy. read more

MMMMM MMMMMMMMM GOOD!!! I visited this cute trendy diamond in the rough a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and I LOVE it!! The food was very tasty and the service was perfect! I was especially impressed with the environment: It was very romantic! Pretty dim lights and a gorgeous Buddhist decor lounge music was playing it reminded me of a a cute restaurant in Hollywood. The quality of the food is impressive despite the low prices. I ordered the Thai BBQ Ribs "perfect" ,our appetizer was the Thai sausage "amazing" , and my boyfriend got the fillet Mignon curry "scrumptious!!" One of our favorites! The food is always delicious; the Pineapple Fried Rice is perfection. The service has never disappointed. The only complaint (hence 4 stars) is the awkward seating. The couple/family is seated right next to you, touching almost. Can result in a lot of awkward eye contact! Not the restaurant to go to if looking for an intimate dinner. This is our go-to Thai restaurant for take-out. We've never dined in, but when I went to pick up our first order I was pleasantly surprised by the nice interior. They have a small parking lot or street parking, so I've opted for delivery since then. It is always speedy and the food arrives piping hot. I'd highly recommend the (spicy!) I came here for the first time for my sister's birthday dinner in October 2011. Parvimarn is a very classy Thai restaurant, a perfect place for exquisite dining for special occasions! Food: During my first visit to any Thai restaurant, I always order the basics: Pad Thai, Pad See-Ew, and perhaps when going with more than one other person, the Panang Curry and the Thai Boat. First of all, the presentation of the food is beautiful. That alone makes the food already taste better I believe, maybe because it pleases the eyes which must somehow be connected to the your taste buds via neurons or something x]. The food was amazing. So much flavor in every bite. I've noticed that at many places, the Pad Thai will start to taste bland after the first few bites, but here, the Pad Thai tasted great all the way through to the last bite. Pad See-Ew is usually at least good everywhere, but here it was great! (The kind of great that even though you knew you only wanted a few bites of Pad See-Ew because you wanted to eat everything else, you find yourself sneaking more bites than you intended!) The Panang Curry was also good, but I don't remember anything spectacular about it. The Thai Boat was great during the first few bites, but I realized the more I ate, the saltier it was. If you love salty, then I'm sure their Thai Boat will float your "Thai" boat x] haha, however it is a bit salty for even my taste. Oh, I forgot to mention I had their fish cake as an appetizer and it was very good, especially the sweet sauce that comes with it! Service: Panvimarn has an upstairs which is decorated very classy. The only issue might be the lack of lighting, but that seems to be a trend among classy restaurants (like Ketchup in Hollywood for example, the lighting is red, everywhere..-__-) I just would personally prefer at least a little bit more light. Because we were upstairs, I felt the waiters didn't come by as often to check on us, and Thai food makes me really thirsty (maybe because of the salty Thai Boat) so I had to wait a bit longer for my water refills. Overall, Panvimarn is a great place and the prices are not as expensive as you would expect from such a fancy Thai restaurant. I can't believe it's been down the street from my house this whole time and I've only been once.. 2012 should change that! =] read more

Best thai food place in/around the Long Beach area, hands down! And they actually make it spicy where even I will say it's spicy. LOVE the soft shell crab. I drive by all of the time, and there are always people waiting to get a table. Always a good indicator. One Thursday, I was lazy, and didn't feel like cooking and my Honey, suggested Panvimarn. We ordered the appetizer sampler, Tom Kha Gai, and the specialty duck entree. The Tom Kha Gai, was the BEST, that I ever had, and I have had it in almost every Thai restaurant, that I have been in. Creamy, delicious, lots of chicken and mushrooms. The appetizers were good, not out of this world, but good. The duck, although delicious, was COLD, in the center. That totally killed it for me. The waitress, seemed disinterested in us, it was late in the evening and she looked like she wanted to go home. Service is a big part of my dining experience, that is why they only get three stars. The other reason that I only gave them three stars, I went back yesterday for some more of that delicious Tom Kha Gai, and it was not as great :( It was good, but not as FANTASTIC as the first time. This is my favorite Thai restaurant! So much better than Banana Bay, Coconut Bay, Sweetee Thai, or Thai BBQ. I've had maybe 7 different dishes here, and all of them were really good. Other than the food, the ambience and service are also really nice. During dinner time on the weekends, this place gets really busy and parking is really tough. So I recommend going during the weekdays during non-peak hours when there is no wait time. read more

I came here with my friend Donna and we had a great time. The place is super cute. The decor was nice and it has 2 floors. It was hard to find at first but the location is on the corner. Have been here a couple times now. The spicy pad thai, pad see eww and pineapple fried rice are delicious! Their Tom Ka Soup was very plain and not as flavorful as I like. The atmosphere is nice and trendy. We have only sat at the bar counter so we don't have to wait for a table. My only complaint is that the service is really poor and slow. They aren't rude just not very attentive and aware. This could also be because we have only sat at the bar but it shouldn't be that way no matter what. So, my mom and I went to this place for lunch and the food was so good. We ordered to Apple martinis and also had the money bags as our appetizer. We were very impressed with the presentation of the martinis and the money bags and highly recommend them if you decide to come here for lunch or dinner. do keep in mind that if you order one of the main event entrees that you will have to order rice separately. The restaurant is very nice and if you do decide to go in the next few months they have said they are expanding. Please be advised that this place is very small and gets crowded very quickly.
