My drinks- 2 Guave Pillow, Matcha Latte and Thai Tea Cloud
    May L.

Was I the area so I made a stop and ordered some drinks to take home. Street parking is available, but during busy hours you might need to drive around the block a few times. There are a few tables and chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. My barista was friendly, knowledgeable about their drinks, and very attentive. I told her I was bringing the drinks home, and she was nice enough to leave out the ice so they wouldn't get diluted before I got back.

No pastry sold by Paper Son at this location unlike the Soma location! If you're looking for salt bread, they do not have that. Pastry is sold by a separate cafe that they share the same shop with. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. I like how you can customize the sweetness of the matcha and hojicha. They're quick to make the drinks. There are seats outside that you can sit on. No indoor seats.

Dogpatch location, in a shared space with neighbor bake house. Able to order drinks at the coffee window or bakery line. Love the Thai tea cloud ($6.50), strong flavor. Americano pandan ($6.50), definitely needs more pandan flavor, looks like you can just ask the barista for more pandan flavor (did not realize when ordering), but it was okay. Unfortunately, the drinks took some time, went slightly out of order since a few groups of customers in line after us receive orders before us. Would try their latte to get a taste of coffee notes

A fantastic place to pick up Asian fusion drinks and pastries! They have some great flavors and twists on traditional drinks and bites. Note that this space is actually a combination of 2 businesses in partnership with Neighbor Bakehouse, where Paper Sons specializes in coffee while Bakehouse provides the pastries (both vegetarian and meat options). Cha siu: 10/10 my favorite thing to get here! Salty, sweet meat in a layered pastry nicely paired with pickled cabbage. Ube croissant: 7/10 delicious and sweet! Maybe a bit sweeter than I would have liked. I would have liked it to have a stronger ube and less sugary taste. Savory curry potato pastry: 7/10 this one is more on the dry potato side than a true curry filling. Guava tonic coffee: 7/10 sparkling, tart, and earthy. Not bad! This might be more of an acquired taste. Was not too sweet. Thai Tea Cloud: 8/10 I love Thai tea, this one errs on the sweeter side though. No indoor seating but they do have a couple outdoor tables.

A good quick coffee to be had before my morning climb at Dogpatch Boulders. I ordered an oat milk hot latte. I had some leftover coffee and drank it the next day cold! Coffee was still tasting really good. They do something special with their brew....I will return.

I came here during my lunch break today. This is located in Dogpatch, and it occupies the same space as Neighbor Bakehouse. You can either order online or at the window. I loooove pandan, so I really wanted to try their pandan coffee. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk and added pandan syrup. There wasn't anyone else waiting when I was there, so my drink was ready within minutes. When the barista handed me my drink, they said they can adjust and add more pandan if I wanted, which I thought was very nice of them to offer. The drink was very good, but I did ask for more pandan. Like I said, I love pandan, so I wanted a strong pandan flavor. The drink was delicious. It was probably one of the best pandan coffees I've had. It was sweet, but I didn't think it was so sweet that it ruined the drink. I will definitely come back here in the future!

9/6/25 - I randomly saw Paper Son Coffee on the way to Sōhn and decided to go here instead! I actually had been wanting to go here, but never knew where it was. It's such a cute cafe with delicious ginger pull apart pastry! I thought their guava pillow was really pretty and interesting, but idk if I'd drink it again. It wasn't bad, but is not something I'd go get every time. I think the fizzy drink + coffee was really unique! The employees were so nice too and I'd love to try the other location with Tano too!

Is there anything better than being sleepy and groggy, and being greeted by sweet, funny baristas? I think not, it's not even 8.15am and I've been called pretty, recommended a local brand and laughed a little. Great day ahead!

Paper Son was on SF Chronicle's best coffee in the Bay list and the Pandan Aerocano sounded delicious so I decided to stop by. It's a window shared with Neighbor Bakeshouse which is super cool. Got some baked goods while I was there Ordered the Pandan Aerocano and a Cardamom Latte. Aerocano was really unique, had the smoothness of a nitro cold brew in the form of an iced americano. Wish the Pandan flavor was a bit stronger though, see Kopiku for a very nice Pandan flavor in coffee. But that would be the one thing that i would have changed. Latte was solid, nice cardamom flavor and the espresso shined through as well. Not my top coffee spot in sf, but definitely worth a try! Their guava soda coffee sounds cool but more like a summer drink Quick and friendly service

I love the oat matcha latte here at Paper Son which is the perfect amount of bitterness from the matcha and creaminess from the oat milk. I always come back for it and it's such a nice afternoon pick me up on a sunny day! The menu is full of asian inspired lattes and caffeinated drinks - guava coffee soda is another one of my favorites if you want something sweet without any milk. Definitely check out Paper Son in Dogpatch or their other location in SoMA.

Words cannot describe the love that I feel for Paper Son Coffee. The Asian fusion flavors are unmatched!!! My #1 favorite is the Lilikoi (passionfruit) espresso tonic. I also love the espresso tonic with the guava cloud + the pandan latte!! Every time I've been here, the staff has been exceptionally kind and friendly, and I love how cute their little storefront is. I love this place so much, I even bought a t-shirt to remember it by before I moved out of the neighborhood :') Long live paper son coffee I love you forever !!!!

Been meaning to try this place out, and now I'm wondering why I never made the stop before the gym. Ordered the Pandan Aerocano which was soooo good. Pandan flavor wasn't super strong, kinda wish I tasted more of it, but as far as the coffee itself, YUM. Perfect amount of sweet, espresso was not overly acidic & paired well with the Pandan. Also got the passionfruit espresso tonic. I love espresso tonics & usually get orange espresso tonics elsewhere, the passionfruit was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!!!

I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. We chose this large city location thanks to easy parking and a convenient stop on our drive. It was a beautiful morning, which was easy to enjoy thanks to the high ceilings, big glass windows, and open main door. There's an upstairs loft that overlooks the cafe below, also with a test kitchen area and offices across to the front. The lady that I was watching was there for the matcha and I can understand why now. We tried the Yuzu Matcha Air Cloud and a Caramel Latte because I felt like we needed to try the coffee since it's a Coffee shop though I have to say I was not a fan of the coffee. We arrived just before the line outside started to form. There's seating available inside with a couple of people that seemed to be working. We originally sat in the middle section with the small round table that can't be moved but then a table opened up. There's a gender neutral restroom available that always seemed to have a line though I guess that's what happens at coffee shops. ~~Service: Good. It was quick to order and surprisingly very quick to receive our drinks as well. ~~Best Part: The Matcha. The coffee was a bit too bitter but it could be due to the fact that I do prefer to drink dark roasts. ~~Worst Part: Nit though maybe it's just me where we were expecting there to be a trash at the entrance so that we could throw away our cups as we were leaving but I guess there's no room for the bins at the beginning so you have to walk to the back towards the restroom to throw it away. ~~Tips: Get the matcha. I wanted to get the velvet but it looked so basic compared to the Yuzu matcha air cloud. The Yuzu flavor itself was refreshing in the foam form but I'm very basic when it comes to flavors and shouldn't have mixed the foam in because it was messing with me. ~~Return: Probably not. I wanted to check the receipt because somehow 2 drinks was nearly $20 but I realized there wasn't even an option to get a receipt.

Whether you are in the mood for a katsu sando, curry over rice, ochazuke with their matcha twist, or something sweet like the matcha cream pie, it is hard to go wrong here. All of the savory dishes I have tried have been great, but the fish katsu sando is one of my absolute favorites. The huge fish fillets are perfectly fried and flaky, tucked inside pillowy shokupan and topped with tangy yuzu shio koji sauce, tomato spread, and fresh crunchy cabbage. Every component works together beautifully, with richness, brightness, and texture all in balance. The pork katsu curry over rice is another standout. The katsu comes sliced into thick pieces that are still juicy inside, and it is fried expertly so the breading stays attached as you eat it. The curry has a really balanced flavor, even if I would not mind a little more spice, while the pickled radishes provide a nice contrast. I always add an onsen egg (for an additional $2) because breaking the runny yolk and mixing it into the curry adds another layer of velvety richness and creaminess. You can also tell they use high-quality matcha in their drinks, so the beverage menu is really more about choosing what fits your mood that day vs avoiding any bad options.
